New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Congrats bumble Grin

Aml I was really scared/nervous/panicked but when it finally started to happen it all went out the window. Had a wobble at lunchtime (she was delivered at 3.32) but then was in pain so didn't really know what was goin on.

You'll be fine I promise your body knows what to do and no matter how you feel it will get you through Grin

BumbleBee2011 · 25/06/2013 22:50

Thanks everyone Smile

AmI - I think the best you can do is just concentrate on where you are and how you're coping with that exact moment - thinking too much about what's to come is just going to be scarier, especially when you think you have an idea of what's in store...and obviously in my case was pointless (at 5pm I honestly thought "can I really take another 5 hours of this?!" Started talking to DH about hospitals/epidurals etc, he just said "you know that's not really what you want, you can do this!" What a star)

Every bit has its ups and downs - being in labour, while more exciting than being pregnant, is definitely overrated Wink (even dull at the early stages - just painful but no drama, as I thought at the time) But at least you can see the finish line and that really does help.

BumbleBee2011 · 25/06/2013 22:56

I should really go to sleep, just still buzzing from it all...and don't want to put Emmie down in her crib, she's making these cute snuffly noises. DH is downstairs watching rubbish TV, said he just needs to unwind and be "normal" for a little bit, on his own.

DD1 is at her grandparents, they took her to nursery and picked her up again tonight. This is the only day she goes each week - how well-timed was that!

AmIGoingMad · 25/06/2013 22:57

Thank you both! By this point last time I'd already been induced (which I hadn't seen coming) so didn't get to this waiting point when all you have to do is think. You're both spot on in what you're saying. Ive just got to try to really drum it into myself because I keep crying when someone mentions labour at the moment. Think I'm going mad! I seem to have chosen a very appropriate mn nn!

curiousgeorgie · 25/06/2013 22:58

Evening everyone Smile

Seraphina Honey Jacob arrived today at 13.32, and she is absolutely amazing!

Completely blissed out... And knackered! Wink

AmIGoingMad · 25/06/2013 22:59

Very well timed bumble! And understandable that you're buzzing! You've been superwoman today you know!Smile

AmIGoingMad · 25/06/2013 22:59

Congratulations curious! Lovely names!Smile

Hawkmoth · 25/06/2013 23:22

Congratulations curiousgeorgie!

SunnyL · 25/06/2013 23:57

Congrats on Millie and Seraphina! Lovely names.

Struggling with a little girl who has terrible wind and just wont stop screaming at me. Its hard and i just keep having to tell myself she cant make this noise forever but after 2hrs of winding her it just feels like forever. Hopefully we'll get her off to sleep soon.

The HV said today that infacol has a culmulative effect so the more you use it the more effective it is. Will keep dosing her up then.

AlohaMama · 26/06/2013 01:39

Wow congrats ladies with your lovely little girls!

Sorry you're struggling AmI. My way of coping was to not think about the impending labor at all. I was basically too busy with life and ds to think about it, and in some ways felt completely unprepared, but figured I'd cross that bridge when I came to it. After ds I decided there was no point in having a birth plan, and then when the time came it was tooquick to worry about it. Anyway this birth was so so different to my first. So I think my way of staying calm was to be in complete denial and think about other things. Not sure that is really good advice though!

cupcake78 · 26/06/2013 03:22

Ahhh two more baby's! Very well done ladies and congratulations. Thanks

I'm still immobile and the size of a house. Sweep day and induction plan tomorrow. Hoping I'm favourable, the weeks of increasing niggles had better be for something!

pinkapples · 26/06/2013 03:29

Congrats on the beautiful girlies being born Thanks

Sunny that sounds awful but like me a couple of days ago infacol is your friend... I spent an hour an a half winding Theiah cue crying and midwives thinking I have depression... Enter infacol at every feed and the magic happens she's so much better and settles well must of the time I'm sat expressing after she's just gone 4 hours between sleep and feed woohoo! Keep going even thoigh its hard now like you rightly said it won't be forever

AmIGoingMad · 26/06/2013 04:34

Thanks aloha!

Sunny it will get better and you're doing an amazing job! Maybe that evening out is just what you need to help you feel human?

Good luck with the sweep cupcake!

I'm awake as I have major backache similar to what I had the evening after having pessary induction with ds . Could this be the beginning of something now that I'm 40+1?!

Sarah2506 · 26/06/2013 06:08

Love love the names! Emmeline and Seraphina are beautiful. I would have picked Seraphina myself but figured it would be shortened to Sera which is a bit like Sarah!

Feeding argh! First two weeks I had a golden child who fed 2-3 hours by day and up to five at night! Now I feel like its constant. This would be manageable but for the fact she's turned into this demanding inefficient eater. Launches herself off mid feed, latches on lazily, falls asleep a lot, then wakes up screaming for more after we put her down, sometimes for about thre gulps before sleeping again.

I feel like feeding on demand encourages this. The restaurant is always open so no point making an effort to get there on time or eat quickly!

I assume this is all normal though infuriating??

Olimoss · 26/06/2013 07:05

I second the Infacol advice!

peppinagiro · 26/06/2013 07:21

Welcome little Seraphina and Emmeline! What lovely names :) hope you're both doing well and had a good first night.

Cupcake - I'm hopefully having a sweep tomorrow too. Fingers crossed for us both x

AmIGoingMad · 26/06/2013 08:48

Good luck pepp too.

Nothing more here.

SunnyL · 26/06/2013 09:04

Thanks all. The winding thing is amazing. One minute shes clearly in pain thrashing around and screaming. Then you get an almighty burp and bubs quietens down and falls asleep. I blame DH though - everyone on his side of the family have faulty valves in their stomachs and suffer terribly with indigestion. Of all your traits to pass onto your daughter. Would have settled for his brown hair!

learnermummy · 26/06/2013 09:17

Morning all and congratulations on the new babies georgie and bumble Smile. I didn't manage my home water birth bumble as my blood pressure was too high and they wanted me to come in. We got to hospital about 1am Tuesday and were in triage til 2am having bp monitored when they wanted to send me home. I insisted on an internal before going and they found I was 5cm so finally allowed me onto delivery ward at 3am with some gas & air! Anna born at 4:14. Much harder labour than no.2 though! Don't think I'll do it again! Finally got home yesterday about 2pm Smile. Big brothers sooo proud GrinGrinGrin

Shame the little madam didn't want to sleep til 5:30 this morning! Think heat doesn't help and milk not in yet obviously.

Babybeann · 26/06/2013 09:25

Pep and iam- looks like all 3 of us have made it to our appointments tomorrow :( was really hoping not to have to go. My hospital give you an appointment and you never get seen at that time its normaly 2 hours after so lots of waiting around drinking tea!! After all the waiting I hope to god I get a sweep will be very annoyed if they say go to community mw. Good luck to you both.

2 more babies wow congrats to you both and beautiful names.

Hawkmoth · 26/06/2013 09:40

Midwife today. Not sure whether to make effort with makeup or just go looking a complete fright and hope she feels sorry enough to give me a vigorous sweep. Had a horrible dream last night where I was induced in this little hospital cubicle all on my own.

BH are now all day every day, it's so wearing. Baby seems so happy though. Last night it was stretching its legs out sideways so forcefully that I was nearly sick. I've never seen anything like it, there's no question that baby is big-footed and long-legged.

AmIGoingMad · 26/06/2013 10:26

Babybeann its the same with ours- last time we were only the second in and she was already running an hour late by then! Tomrw our appt is it 11 so I dread to think how late we'll be by then!
So disappointed as I was up for ages with my back ache last night, then poof this morning - nothing!!!! Grrrr!

Glad the infacol is working sunny.

AmIGoingMad · 26/06/2013 10:27

Hawk- have the antibiotics kicked in now? Fingers crossed for a sweep for you!

peppinagiro · 26/06/2013 10:37

Our midwives are always running ridiculously late too! The worst was when I had to wait 3.5 hours in a boiling hot waiting room, with no food or water. I genuinely wanted to murder them by the time I got in. Think it was nothing short of a miracle that my BP was still normal!

Shame we've all made it to tomorrow's midwife appointment :( i'm really worried that I'm going to get there and she'll tell me my body isn't ready for a sweep yet and that I'm still miles off going into labour. Just don't know how I'd cope with that. Good luck to both of you tomorrow! Xx

peppinagiro · 26/06/2013 10:38

Oops - I mean all 3 of you. Sorry Hawk! X
