Well my midwife is useless, but she doesnt really care if I'm in the room or not....spends most of the appointment filling out paperwork/ringing the hospital/checking her blackberry....so me nipping out to the loo doesn't really disrupt things.

I've also done it at the hospital, before I knew that every apt involves pee...I couldn't go, so they just gave me a glass of water & told me to come back to the desk with it after the apt. A random mw just dipped the stick & added it to my notes...

I've got better at remembering now ;-)

Joskar · 11/06/2013 22:18

Purple get yourself to a physio as soon as possible. I realise I've posted heaps about PGP but it's only because I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone. Have a look at the websites I posted on page 17. Take care. You need rest. And chocolate.

Oh and I have the weird low down kicks too. Hurts! Baby is going to get a talking to about it when I see her/him!

EmmaDee I forgot my pee sample last time and I just got a tsk, tsk and sent off to the loo. Maybe you could go a bit early? Or a clean (empty!) jam jar? Or a contact lens case? They only usually need a wee (Wink) bit.

andadietcoke · 11/06/2013 22:21

Years ago I used a miniature spirit bottle. I thought I was being clever. I got bollocked because I couldn't be 100% there was no alcohol left in there and it would have killed any bacteria in my wee.

I haven't been given a pee bottle. I feel a bit left out. Every time I leave the ANC I take one and a collecting pourer thing home so I can do it at home before my next appt.

JammyTummy · 11/06/2013 22:28

Last time I turned up with a pee pot with no pee in it Confused... They thought I was a bit nuts, but sent me off to the loo with a disposable cup and said to then decant it into the pot as it was one of the narrow ones.
Being absolutely knackered and not quite with it (hence the empty pot on arrival), I did a wee in the cup but then dropped the whole thing in the loo by accident... Had a total moment of panic (actually considered scooping some back out of the loo- what was I on?!?), then had to wait for my bladder to agree to make some new pee and try and aim it into the little narrow tube! Needless to say, I was super happy when the appointment was over!

frogchops · 11/06/2013 22:33

Glad alls well kami Wink I've been worried all day!
Well, worried and moany. I'm officially fed up today. I feel huge, I know I'm probably not in the grand scheme of it all, but things are so bloody uncomfortable. I cried numerous times today.... Putting my socks on, putting the shopping away, being asked several times to trundle upstairs at work. Hmm Haven't been able to concentrate on work either, the boy is throwing his weight around in there and has been all day. Have come to bed now with half a pack of rennie. I've already apologised to DP for tonight's snoring too Hmm

CharlW1 · 11/06/2013 23:00

So glad everything seems to be o.k Kami it's good they are keeping an eye on you.

Second NCT session tonight - we did about labour up to the point of pushing - next week is part 2 where we go through the pushing and then what happens after birth. The classes are good but having been to the NHS classes with my sister a couple of years a go, so far I think they gave better info about what happens during labour. It is a great bunch of people at NCT though and really glad me and OH are going and meeting people in the same situation as us.

flipflump · 11/06/2013 23:33

So glad Kami, fingers crossed you get back home soon.

kipsonline · 12/06/2013 08:41

Hope they let you home today kami..

Just to say have just seen hot milk have gone on sale on zulily today, lovely maternity and nursing bras and pants at half price :)

jennimoo · 12/06/2013 08:44

I love the hit milk bras, but word of warning: other than likely changes in boob size I found hot milk bras very variable in size. I ended up posting ones I'd bought online back to exchange for different sizes. So order lots and return the ones you don't want ;)

flipflump · 12/06/2013 09:16

I know it's way too early, but those of you who have done this before, when did you pack your hospital bag? I'm super organised generally and I'm really looking forward to doing it. Not looking forward to buying the bits to go in it - doesn't seem glamorous!!

I'm 27+1 and have my 28 week app today, midwife is away next week. Then we're away week after that. It's going to be a huge gap in appointments. I've got the fear of the scales again, have a feeling I'll be in trouble Hmm

KamikazeeKid · 12/06/2013 10:10

Erm....,I'm packing mine when I get home from hospital today! Just in case I end up back in here.

flipflump · 12/06/2013 10:22

How are you feeling Kami? Hope you've been well looked after. Take it easy when you do get home!

Mooster1709 · 12/06/2013 11:27

Kami- so glad everything's ok. What a stressful day for you though...

I too am without a pee pot. The midwife gave me one at my last appointment with very firm instructions that I must keep it and reuse it forever, because no more would be forthcoming. But then I had my next appt at the hospital (have shared care) and they ran off with it. Am now terrified of next mw appt, because will once again go in empty handed (and probably empty-bladdered, knowing my luck), and my mw is a bit of a dragon...

and frog yes to feeling huge and crying. Every time I have to bend down to put my shoes on I feel a deep sense of injustice. Poor DH, if he's anywhere around, because there's lots of huffing and sighing and implicit suggestions that this is all his fault. Everything just seems so bloody difficult, and such an effort, doesn't it?

I also seem to be particularly sweaty at present, which makes me feel even more disgusting. And did i mention that I have a cold? Grrrr.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 12/06/2013 12:17

Kami, glad to hear you're ok.

I got given a pot at my only hospital appointment. So far my midwife has had me pee onto the stick! (in private, and bring the stick back, not as some kind of performance! Grin)

I was feeling huge and inflexible until last night, when lovely, lovely DH gave me a back massage. I hadn't realised how badly knotted up my lower back was until he fixed it. So today I have been feeling pretty good, and cleaning and painting like a wild thing! Sweating here too though, which isn't nice, but can't be helped, so I'm trying hard not to mind too much. We have got our lovely new shower in though, so I have bloody good excuse to use it all the time. :) I am wondering if it might be my last burst of energy before the exhaustion hits. Hope not, we're still got lots to get done.

I think my boobs have finally succumbed to the hormones and started growing, so I will go have a look at those sales bras, thanks kip. If they get too much bigger though I'll be skipping the bras completely and looking at scaffolding!

fl0b0t · 12/06/2013 12:18

Phew glad things are ok Kami- I'm just catching up and have scrolled past evryhing else to find out if you're ok! I had a friend who had a lowlying placenta and had a couple of quite significant bleeds. Obviously very scary at the time, but everything was fine. She had to lay off doing anything energetic and baby was booked in for ceserean as the placenta was totally blocking the exit. Baby and mum absoltuely fine (as i hope you are).

Apols for being a bit AWOL, nothing to do with the fb group, just been ridiculously busy at work. Not helped by dr receptionist booking me in for July not June so I had half a day out last week, and spent about 20 hours on trains last week. Then had mw appt today (she is nice) and been interviewing and in a meeting in Birmingham already this week. Feel a bit behind on life admin and everything.

MW appt good- I get to go in in 2 weeks time for Anti-D inject, whooping cough vacc AND blood tests. Blimmin pin cushion! Everything looks right though. She rinsed out the pee pot and returned it to me!

Baby stuff totally nowhere near organised. Still waiting for the flakey useless lady lady on the internet generously selling me her changing top drawer unit super cheap to bloody make her mind up about delivering it let me know when her husband can deliver (we're paying extra as it won't fit in our car!) :) Then I will feel more orgnaised (baby stuff strewn all over baby room!)

Readytosettle · 12/06/2013 13:38

Ok, confession time....last time I was at the hospital they left me alone in a room waiting for the consultant and I 'helped myself' to a few extra pee pots....yes that's right, I stole pee pots from a hospital!!! Now I think about it, it's ridiculous...at the time I was just trying to be practical. Blush

EmmaDee · 12/06/2013 14:56

Well I just went in early and sheepishly asked at the reception for a pot, she handed me one without question, meaning I didnt have to face the mw!
Though the mw seemed to be in a brilliant mood this time (pity she wasnt always) had loads of time for me, listened to the heart beat and said all was ok. She measured me and it came out a bit small, but she said as I was only 25 weeks it was nout to worry about.

Do you all have the wee growth graph in your notes for the midwife to fill in? What are you measuring? Big/small or average! Ugh this pregnancy lark just throws up loads of things to worry about!!!!

ready think i'll do the same if the chance arises, Im too forgetful to remember to go to the chemist and buy a bottle until its too late!

Kittenkatzen · 12/06/2013 15:20

Hahaha loving all the pee pot stories today! Bit gutted not to have one o my own to add Smile

EmmaDee · 12/06/2013 15:23

Sorry but I have TMI question, but still pee related! Recently when I have pee'd there has been wee white bits floating about, they look a bit like toilet paper but I know they're not! Anyone have these/know what they are?

Readytosettle · 12/06/2013 15:31

I was 25cm at 25+1, spot on the 50th percentile according to the chart...

Do u mean the teeny white flecks Emma? I have those too, presume it's protein or something...

fl0b0t · 12/06/2013 15:38

:-)
When i went in last week for my (incorrect) appointment, I kindly offered the receptionist (the same useless bag who had booked me into the wrong month) my full pee pot. She looked horrified :-) I asked for another and got one!

I haven't looked for a growth chart (only the ones they do to show where baby is on the scale after ultrasounds), but I've only been measured once (today at my (late) 24 wk appt). I haven't been weighed at all.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 12/06/2013 15:55

Had a quick google. Apparently if you're burning more fat than usual you can get white bits in your wee. I would say pregnancy counts as burning more calories than usual, would stand to reason that some of those will be from fat. It could also be a UTI or thrush, but if you're feeling well I doubt it.

As for measuring, so far I've been spot on this time round. Was pretty much uniformly 2 weeks ahead with DD1, but she came with her own swimming pool.

PurplePoppySeed · 12/06/2013 16:13

Thanks joskar I've had back problems in the past so when I had a few wobbly moments in the first tri, I took myself to my physio and thought d got away with it. I'm now booked with physio weekly and saw the osteopath last tues who confirmed it and want me back 2-weekly. Haven't been able to get an appointment with the NHS midwife so I've not seen her since 16 weeks! Luckily I've just booked an independent MW so I'm not too worried. All this physio and osteo is burning a hole in my baby budget but I'm seeing ppl I know and trust so think its the right thing to do!

How often do you get treatment and how have you found it? I'm finding it pretty difficult to remember not to sit with legs crossed, not to twist whilst carrying stuff etc!

On th plus side I had an HR meeting today and they are going to formalise working from home every Wednesday, take me off client work from beginning of July and give me an extra laptop for home so I don't have to carry it around! I'm quite impressed as they were all their suggestions, not mine!

frogchops · 12/06/2013 16:43

So one of the fat bitches people at work bunped right into my bump, side on, today. Wasn't a bit bothered as I yelled ouch and she didnt say a word. Since then I've felt heavy and like its more uncomfortable than normal to walk around/get up/sit down. Hmm I've finished an hour early as was feeling crap and now I'm having a little stress. Feeling movement, not kicks as such, just movement.... And totally sorry for myself. Hmm

fl0b0t · 12/06/2013 17:09

Ok, I admit it. I can't stop bloody eating.

Today I had:
2 weetabix with whole milk
a punnet of cherries
2 more weetabix with whole milk (and some sugar) as I was so hungry

made mushroom and spinnach soup for lunch with 2 bits of toast.
banana
sharon fruit

2 digestives

afternoon snack of two bits of toast with full fat cream cheese and smoked salmon

Got yoga tonight, then plan to come home a wolf up DH's leftover pasta!
