princess hope the itching improves. I find a bath with one of these in helps my eczema when it gets bad, you might find it calms your itching.

photographer enjoy your last day

ginger have you tried listening to music or reading a book during a speculum exam? I find if I'm distracted by something then I don't tense up. Still embarrassing but at least it doesn't hurt.

mysterymeg · 31/05/2013 11:18

Bumps and babies was good but disappointingly no foot massage ellie

ginger hope your little one is hanging on on there.

Midwife appointment was interesting yesterday. Being sent back to the consultant to discuss induction. Midwife suggests induction at term but he may suggestthat it's done earlier. Looks like I'm having a baby! Starting to sink in - scary stuff.

totallyeggflipped hope the move goes well and that everyone else is carrying everything. :)

mysterymeg only a few short more weeks to go!

SlouchingPanda enjoy all the shopping, I made the mistake of looking at items I like for 3 months onwards.

I waddled my way into london and so far going for a stretch every hour to try and appease the cramping. Office is closing at 3pm to take me out drinking (humorous, work thinks its so humorous..) so only a few short more hours to go.

TotallyEggFlipped · 31/05/2013 12:50

Great that you get an early finish, photographer. Is it sunny in London? A 'mocktail' in a sunny beer garden would be lovely.

Thinkingof4 · 31/05/2013 13:16

Ginger and beginning hope things are going ok

totally good luck with the move!!

photographer enjoy drinks after work!

I have now finished work, hooray! I'm so knackered so mostly just feeling relieved to be done. Took a half day today which made my last day fairly straightforward
Sorry on phone so can't do any more personal replies, but someone mentioned upthread about heartburn getting worse and I'm definitely in that camp. Gaviscon beside my bed helps me through the night and got the sachets to use during the day. Quite strange because bump is very low so I don't feel stomach is squashed Confused

Anyway sun is shining and I now have a few hours to myself to get us all packed ready for a wedding tomorrow Grin Grin

photographerlady · 31/05/2013 13:28

Enjoy your leave Thinking

Totally magically the sun has come out in london, lets see how long it lasts, will have a mocktail on your behalf.

VinegarDrinker · 31/05/2013 16:25

I've just cycled my lovely riverside commute for the last time and now sitting on the sofa drinking a homemade banana milkshake (yummy and so easy: frozen banana, milk and vanilla essence in the food processor) and trying to actually let it sink in that I've left work for the last time til 2014!

Think I'll relocate to the garden in a minute :)

Hooray to Thinking and photographer too.

Hang on in there, everyone else!

Gingerpanther27 · 31/05/2013 17:07

Still not sure if officially in labour yet but ctg is showing contractions and they are getting worse in intensity and feels like baby's head is even further down now.the pain relief isn't quite as efficient any more either. They've also given me steroid injections just in case and currently stuck on a drip, anyone who's not a first timer think it could be labour? X 34+5

IcingTheCake · 31/05/2013 18:41

No help here im afraid ginger but sounds very exciting Smile

OhGood · 31/05/2013 19:41

Hi all - I know I dropped off the thread ages ago but I've finished work (woooohoooo) and the builders are (nearly) out the house (woooooohoooo x a million) so we have our downstairs back, and I am going to have some time to spend just being pregnant. Well, and bringing everything back downstairs / organising madly / getting dust out of everything etc. And spending some good time with DD.

It sounds like I have missed out a few early arrivals - congratulations to all involved and I hope all's well with LOs, especially very earlies. Will have a look for the stats thread. And ginger goodness are you going to be next?? Good luck if so.

My baby's breech at the mo - anyone else?

cheekbyjowl · 31/05/2013 19:47

I don't meet the qualifying criteria ginger but sounds like it doesn't it? exciting!

cheekbyjowl · 31/05/2013 19:49

ohgood yes at 34 weeks. hope this little lady (or man) is for turning!

MummyKanny · 31/05/2013 21:41

Ooh congratulations to all those that are on maternity leave now! Let the nesting-fest begin! I still have four whole weeks of work left, grump. It is becoming a real chore now.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and has lots of exciting weekend plans Grin

MummyKanny · 31/05/2013 21:49

Oh and Ellie - I absolutely love those bath things from Lush! They are brilliant, keep my skin nice and soft. Would highly recommend.

Has anyone heard anything from Beginning? Hope she is okay!

dinkystinky · 31/05/2013 22:01

Evening all - finally home now and pleased to be back in my own space. Ginger - it does sound like labour is starting for you from what you describe - I hope the birth goes smoothly. Thinking of you.

Thinking, vinegar and photographer - congrats on starting your mat leaves. No work till 2014 sounds like an awfully long time doesn't it - but it will fly by. Along with quite a few others I have another 2 weeks to go till mat leave. Think I should be OK to last out till then - 2 days of waddling up and down legoland hills and steps hasn't made me feel any different so reckon Bean is going to be another late arrival like ds1.

Good luck with the move and antenatal class Totally - your parents sound like stars!

OhGood - welcome back. Bean was breech but is currently head down at an angle. Spinning babies website has good suggestions on how to encourage a breech baby to turn.

Cheeseandbread · 31/05/2013 22:30

Good luck ginger

Glad you're home safe and sound dinky and not too worn out by the sound of it.

The hospital called earlier with the results from my speculum swab on Tuesday- no waters but they found some group b strep (a natural bacteria that comes and goes but can be dangerous for baby) this means they will need to put me on antibiotics via a drip when I go into labour. Anyone experience this before? Also I was hoping for a water birth does anyone know if this means I won't be able to have one now...? The midwife on the phone didn't seem to think it would be a problem but she didn't sound certain.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Friday night.

paolocee · 31/05/2013 22:36

Thanks for all your good wish wax. In hospital now - OH has had several tests and all show mild preeclampsia. She's being monitored for one more night before they decide what to do. The Two Ronnies are in fine fettle.
When we arrived at the hospital we were offered a CHOICE of two rooms. We went for the one with the jacuzzi. Grin

I hope you all have a lovely Friday night.

dinkystinky · 31/05/2013 22:37

Cheese - a friend from my Feb 09 thread had this. Being on a drip meant she had to be on labour ward, not birth centre, so she had a dry birth - I think it depends on hospital policy and if there is a birth pool on the ward and your mW, but hopefully one of our stealth medics can properly advise.

paolocee · 31/05/2013 22:37

Whilst I am happy with the all the good wish wax I'm also grateful for the good wishes!!

evelynj · 31/05/2013 23:04

Hello all

Just popping up my head to say howdy-I'm due with number 2 on 22 July, planning c-section as had with first & now think I'd like same again (control freak coming out...). Finished work & enjoying mostly laziness with periods of pregnancy rage particularly with workmen delays as having bathroom added downstairs & taking forever.

Likely to be lurking &'posting more now as getting so tired.

Looking forward to hearing more of the birth stories & frustrations of waiting etc from everyone ;)

BadMissM · 31/05/2013 23:28

Paolo Hope OH is doing OK and that the Two Ronnies are fine xxx
Jacuzzi sounds lovely.....

Dinky Welcome back!

Ginger Sounds like labour to me....

Me.... 32+5, scan yesterday showed LO apparently at size of 35 weeks, weighing about 5 pounds. Damn consultant absent again. Now have 2 appts next week, another the week after, don't see the consultant for her 'decision' on the LCS til 20 June. Just have to hope haven't given birth yet....

MIL in meltdown, DH arsey, house falling apart, washing machine died today just when I thought I might have enough saved for a tumble dryer.... DD's foot going sodding septic as practice nurse completely ignored hospital's instruction to change dressings every other day, and has only changed it once a week..... GRRR!

princessllama · 01/06/2013 04:05

Badmissm- bummer! I hope tomorrow is a better day. Washing machine collapse at this stage would send any of us into meltdown. I hope they pay attention to dd's foot now. I remember you saying district nurse only changing dressing once a week.
Ginger- hope allgoing smoothlysounds like you are in labour. Good luck
Paolo- room with a jacuzzi- it could only be scandinavia- luxury and quite right too! Hope your partner is still doing ok.
Well done to those finishing work- i am almost there and has made me feelcalmer.
Strep b- cant remember who it was- bet there is a thread on mnet that will tell you all you need to know.
Elliej- nothing is working for itching. Thank you for the link- i try to stay away from all bath stuff as produces more problems for me. I am so ao itchy. Tonight its doing my head in. Piroton seems not to be working or meds. I thoughtmedswould have kicked in by now. Thank goodness dh is now in same country, although at this stageseparatebeds might be helpful. Have finallypacked hospital bag, made playlist for birth, sorted work cpd etc and sent presents in advance to various nieces/ nephews etc for their birthdays. Just have to to sort my tax stuff and build pushchair now.

paolocee · 01/06/2013 04:54

Oops, sorry, the jacuzzi comment was a joke. Not even the Swedes have such luxury in their maternity rooms. As far as I know.

dinkystinky · 01/06/2013 08:08

Paolo - hope OH and the babies are OK. Sounds like they are monitoring her closely - my prediction is the Ronnies will be here in 3 weeks time...

Ginger and beginning - hope all going OK with you and your babies.

Evelyn - welcome. Add yourself and your baby to the stats thread (see link on first post on thread).

Princess - you sound ready for the new arrival. So sorry the itching is driving you crazy still.

BadmissM - I would have screamed! Pals for hospital consultant and practice manager to complain about the practice nurse for sure. Appliances online and appliances direct (both online) do great deals/prices on washing machines/driers (discovered them when redoing house 2 years ago). Quick delivery too.

SlouchingPanda · 01/06/2013 08:10

Paolo And there was me thinking that it's not too late to transfer my care to Sweden if jacuzzis are the norm! I'll stay put now. Glad to hear the Two Ronnies are well and hope that Mrs Paolo is ok.

Cheese - different places seem to have different policies on GBS and water births, so it will very much depend on policy in your hospital. The antibiotic drip isn't likely to be continuous, they'll hook you up to it for about 15mins every 4h so it may be possible to get in the pool between times. Hope it works out for you - might be worth giving your labour ward a ring to get a definite answer.

BadMissM hope today is better for you, and good luck to Ginger and Beginning - any news.

My shopping trip yesterday was completely fruitless. I went to get some hooded towels from mothercare, but they were rather cheap-looking and thin so I held off. I tried on a few maternity bras there too and ran away traumatised by their horridness. Think I'll push the boat out for some Hotmilk ones when the time comes.

Bargain hunters:my local Aldi had packs of 3 muslins for £3, wipes for 78p and various other baby things. Might head back there later to pick up some nappies.

I am still a bit Shock at how pregnant I look all of a sudden. I used to stand in front of the mirror sticking my belly out... now I stand with my bump out of the reflection trying to remember what I used to look like!!

Happy Saturday all! Mine involves shopping and a statistics assignment. One likely to be a whole lot more fun than the other... although with the town centre on a Saturday, you never know!

34+2
