princess Im sorry your still so itchy! I would have imagined that the medication would have helped! Being this pregnant is uncomfortable enough, without having something else on top of it. Hope you can find something that makes you a bit more comfortable, it sounds like youve tried a lot...

dinkystinky · 01/06/2013 08:54

See Slouching - the good thing about having a humungobump from early on is I'm used to it by now. Spent large parts of our holiday reassuring total strangers that I have another month to go till due date and am fine. Aldi nappies meant tone pretty good. Hooded towels - I love the skip hop ones (3 animal themes - ds1 is monkey, ds2 is owl and bean has a duck waiting for him/her) - soft and huge (ds1 is a tall 7 year old and still uses his) you can get them from great little trading co and often 15-25% discount sales on - just need to keep an eye out for them.

VinegarDrinker · 01/06/2013 09:01

Morning all.

Re. GBS as slouching says it varies from unit to unit. Where I work now they are fine for you to labour on the MLU and in water (just need to cover the cannula with waterproof dressing). Ask your local labour ward.

Re towels, We got given a couple of hooded towels but tbh always just used normal ones. They do look cute though!

Had a crappy night's sleep. We coslept til 6 months or so but DS has been fine in his own room since about 1... Until this week Hmm He has woken v upset and really wanted to come into our bed for the last two nights running. Hope, hope, hope it's just a random blip. I do quite like co-sleeping usually but not when huge and uncomfy anyway, plus we only have a normal double and there isn't space!

I've also got a left ear totally blocked with wax (can't hear out of it and constant high pitched ringing), tried Otex drops but that has made it 10x worse and the whole ear is now painful and throbbing. Necking paracetamol and using olive oil drops but if anyone has any other tips before I can get hold of the Drs and beg the nurse to syringe it asap please do share!

Cheeseandbread · 01/06/2013 09:51

Thanks very much for the advice regarding group b strep. I'll ask my midwife what the hospital policy is re waterbirths when I see her next. I had a little look at Dr Google but was told by the hospital to steer clear as there are lots of horror stories... DH has also banned me from further looking... I've decided not to mention it to anyone- apart from you guys as I don't want to worry family.

What lovely weather today! Just had breakfast outside in the garden with DH. This is one of our last free weekends pre beans arrival... So strange to think that.

I hope those going shopping today have fun.

Still sending good luck vibes to Ginger and Beginning

33 weeks today!

Cheeseandbread · 01/06/2013 09:52

Sorry you are feeling poorly Vinegar sorry I don't have any advice on the ear front but hoping someone else does x

BB01 · 01/06/2013 10:10

Vinegar it may sound crazy but tug your ear lobe down and yank it a few times. Always seems to give me some respite albeit temporary!

paolocee · 01/06/2013 10:45

Sorry dinkystinky but they've just told us that they're going to deliver the 2Rs by C-section tomorrow at noon.
Yikes!

Cheeseandbread · 01/06/2013 12:07

Wow Paolocee how very exciting! Good luck to you the two Ronnies and Mrs Paolocee!! X

Runswithsquirrels · 01/06/2013 12:29

Good luck Paolo and Mrs Paolo! These babies will come early, won't they! X

SlouchingPanda · 01/06/2013 12:39

Twins! Grin Good luck to all four of you!

Thanks for the towel advice - hooded ones do look cute, but as my mum said, she just used normal towels and we turned out ok! She is still adamant I need a baby bath though Hmm and was horrified when I said I was thinking about getting a big rubber bucket which would at least be useful afterwards. I can see this one is going to run and run...

Re GBS, I know you said you didn't want to Google (v wise), but my local hospital info leaflet links to this website which you might find useful.

SilverBirdie · 01/06/2013 13:58

Ooooo more babies arriving! Hope all goes well Paolo exciting times.
vinegar we are in the same position with Ds who's always been a wonderful sleeper. The last two weeks have been exhausting so I've given up work early. You have my sympathies but sadly no words of wisdom.... Nothing but co sleeping us working here.
Had my first blub today. Not sure if its entirely warranted or hormones... Just feel like my family are all so flipping busy and make zero effort anymore. I'm close to my twin sis but all I get recently is text updates on her pregnancy (22 weeks ) and she gave me recycled wedding presents for my birthday Sad I'm not materialistic but nothing at all would have been nicer. Last time I met up with her she didn't even acknowledge ds. No hug or hello just couldn't wait for me to go to the shoe shop to give her a second opinion. Lots more things adding to it all and me finally booing Sad
Ahhhh well...... Parked up outside Mamasandpapas factory shop waiting for Ds to wake so I'm going to get some retail therapy!
Mw on Thursday so might make some decision re: vbac or elcs... Lots if bhicks recently.

Abzs · 01/06/2013 14:03

Does anyone with small DCs who are fascinated by diggers want to swap houses? For, say, the next three years? The contractors prepping the site over the road for infrastructure have been here three weeks now and the noise is really staring to get on my nerves. I know it can't be done without noise, but when the rock crusher started up at 7.15 this morning I could have cried. Instead I Facebooked a photo, and considered starting a Twitter feed just so I could hashtag them...

whitedaffodil · 01/06/2013 14:21

Hi all, the thread dropped off my list but have enjoyed catching up with the news. These babies seem to be coming now don't the ... paolo's two will certainly add to the list.

On GBS I've just done the self-take swab test through TDL (the doctor's laboratory). If you contact them they will send you a pack and the cost is £35. My hospital don't believe in testing and that's fine, but I'd rather get a negative and put it out of my mind (here's hoping) and I'm suspicious of some of these NHS policies as being cost-based. Results due in a couple of days.

Am also looking for glass or stainless steel baby bottles, green kid stainless steel look good but they won't tell me which steam sterilisers they're compatible with (they must KNOW,surely?) as obviously the microwave ones won't be much use! Anybody else used or looking at them?

Can't wait to finish work next Fri and focus properly on what still needs to be done!

Cheeseandbread · 01/06/2013 15:13

Slouching thanks for the link on GBS! I haven't got a baby bath either... Not sure if I'm going to get one.

Silver sorry you are feeling down. Hopefully a bit of retail therapy will cheer you up.

White daffodil a mummy friend gave me a glass bottle the other day. She said it was better for expressed milk as plastic can interfere with the nutrients... I didn't know this.

I love sunny days... On a picnic rug in the garden at the mo watching DH garden Smile

princessllama · 01/06/2013 17:19

Good luck team paolo. Amazing how many are coming now.
I wonder how ginger is?also how oliver is getting on this weekend. I saw emblosion's baby is doing well. - is there another on way too?
White daffoldil- i think it was you re bottles, i have done extensive research and the best bottles seem to be nuk ones although there are loads on the market. They should fit an avent steriliser as far as i remember but a bit of a fiddle. Last time i ended up using milton steriliser- which is just a big container with milton tablet and water in- easy peasy- i always rinse in hot water after too though just in case of milton chemicals.
Would you believe on top of the vile itching everywhere dd and me both now have nits- i am like a crazy women waving headlice treatment round- i will not go into labour with headlice.
Good luck with the house moves
Vinegar- sorry about the ear- when it happens to me sometimes i try to make a vaccuum by using a finger in ear and wiggling then taking finger out with pop- yet another sign i'm going crazy probably
Abz- so sorry about the builders- what a nightmare even on sat am. Maybe you could find out when earth works will stop?

dinkystinky · 01/06/2013 18:39

Hope all goes smoothly tomorrow Paolo - pop on and let us know how you and OH and the twins are doing.

Abzs - check with your council. There should be planning/noise restrictions on building work in residential areas - no way would they be allowed to start work at 7.15 around here.

Vinegar - ugh re the ear. Olive oil drops are best to soften the wax - could also try holding hot water bottle to ear too as can help alleviate the pressure. Sleep regression v common in toddlers pure birth of sibling - ds1 was great sleeper generally but crap before ds2 arrived - they know change is coming and are looking for reassurance. Keep reminding yourself this too is a phase that will pass.

Princess llama - I swear by the nitty gritty comb for those itchy critters.

Silver - hugs to you. Sometimes people don't realise how they are coming across. If you are close to your twin, can you speak to her about how you're feeling disconnected from her?

Had nice day today - walked down to Portobello road (via several playgrounds) with my boys, met old school friend and her mum for lunch (hadn't seen her for 6 years) then amble home. Dh currently pressure washing our patio while I supervise ds1 and ds2 eating ice creams ( trying to run down freezer so can defrost it tomorrow). Have pregnancy yoga and puppet show to look forward to tomorrow - along with quick stop at office to bring home suits/shoes/bulky stuff I can't get home in rush hour.

Discovery of the day as i passed the mirror post shower - with humungobump and outy belly button, my silhouette currently bears an uncanny resemblance to Snoopy. Hope that cheers up anyone feeling blue x

BB01 · 01/06/2013 18:39

Good look Paolo and Mrs Paolo!

dinkystinky · 01/06/2013 19:30

Princessllama - I think Shiv is posting on her other thread how Oliver is doing and updating on FB too. On FB, she's said Oliver went on to CPAP but is now back on BPAP after some bad gases and is due a blood transfusion which might help with things - she's also had a few skin to skin cuddles (complete with photos) which look v cute indeed. My mum does that wiggling in the ear thing - but with a hair pin! Not sure I'd recommend it though...

photographerlady · 01/06/2013 19:53

Wow we are going to need a post-natal thread soon at this rate

TotallyEggFlipped · 01/06/2013 20:13

Good luck tomorrow, team paolo!

House move is stressful, but we're surviving. Still loads left to do, but we're all too knackered to do anything more today. Apart from DD who is still awake & fighting sleep....

Abzs · 01/06/2013 21:36

Dinky - I've reported via the council's automated system. 7-7 is permitted on weekdays, but unless they have been granted an exception 6:45am on a Saturday is not. I'd like to know who was consulted if they have been...

Am already imagining marching across the road and presenting a screaming Small to the site manager.

Team Paolo - forgot to wish you luck as I ranted this morning. Good Luck to the four of you!

MrsMillions · 01/06/2013 21:41

Just a quicky from me as fighting sleep but good luck tomorrow Team Paolo!

CitizenOscar · 01/06/2013 21:55

Cheese - re group b strep - I had positive swab last pregnancy and would have been able to have water birth at our hospital (if pools hadn't been already occupied). Turned out just to need a dose of antibiotics on arrival but not by drip so had very little impact on my labour experience. They did pay special attention to DS after he was born and gave him antibiotics as they thought he might have an infection.

The only problem really was that the cannula (and DS's cannula) made BF on one side a bit more tricky as they got in the way.

It really wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared when I read the leaflet.

Hope that helps.

notprincesskate · 01/06/2013 22:30

Just popping in before bed, good luck team paolo and ginger hope things are going in the right direction for you.
I do need to know though, who has told theses babies that its already July, its not, it's only June!
We've now got a tummy tub, rather than a baby bath to save space, looks interesting, not sure if we'll get on with it, we also have hooded towels, gt ours from ikea, not really a necessity, but DD used to look so cute in hers we got a couple more for this baby.
I did have a whole list of people to namecheck, but my bed is calling now, sorry, but will say hope all of those who have had a rubbish day today or problems, that things improve tomorrow, will see if I can improve on my advice tomorrow Wink. Only last thing to say is those thinking of doing some bulk baking, don't make my mistake and do make sure you have space to freeze everything you cook, I'm now struggling to get it all in doh.

MrsRoss26 · 01/06/2013 22:30

Evening all, just popping in to say I hope all goes well for the two Ronnies and MrsPaolo tomorrow, fingers crossed for a quick cs and recovery.

We've had a very long day, starting with me painting the bathroom at 8am Hmm and then on to a wedding. Am very glad to be home and tucked up! I hope the weather is treating you all as well as it has for us today Smile
