Steffanoid · 27/05/2013 22:04

panic maybe over, there's people in the feeding network giving me good advice

Olimoss · 27/05/2013 23:06

Possible slight freaking out over here. Wednesday morning IS TOO SOON I AM NOT READY I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND.

gulps air

redwellybluewelly · 27/05/2013 23:10

Oli keep calm........deep breath. .......

I'm right behind you! Growth scan tomorrow will determine delivery date but will be before 7th June, and pre op is booked for Friday......

Currently lining up for another rubbish nights sleep, but DD very restless and keeps coming in, DH in fairness has worked all weekend and so I'm getting up to her. I'm worried she is brewing a bug of some sort.

Steffanoid · 27/05/2013 23:43

Oli stay calm, unfortunately it's gone past the point we can ask for a return now Hmm

I have just warned oh that while im excited and willing labour to happen I'll probably freak the hell out when it actually happens, think I scared him!

you'll be fine oli!

rrreow · 28/05/2013 07:17

Been awake since 3am with terrible itching Sad palms of hands & soles of feet included. Really worried about having OC again, although it could be psychosomatic because I'm so worried about developing it?? Had a spell of itching a few weeks ago and my bloodwork came back clear (have had liver function tests twice since 28w and both times came back clear).

Sooo I'm in the office (at home) at 7am doing some work.. this never happens usually Grin DH will be so pleased. Hoping to get some sleep later maybe. Itching is a lot less noticeable when not in bed.

Olimoss it's so nerve wrecking isn't it, when you know when it's going to happen. It's natural to feel that way.

My BH have been doing something funny. Instead of just making my belly rigid, they're also making it GROW! I'm sitting at my desk with about 2cm space between bump and desk. When I am experiencing BH my bump goes rigid and grows until it's touching the desk... I can actually feel and see it doing it, then when it fades it goes back down again!

Also thanks for the advice to google mucous plug Grin. It looks like a slug in the pictures and I didn't notice any slugs in my pants, so probably just some discharge.

DH and I had a lovely date last night. We went to Byron (burger place) and had entirely too much food. Ready for baby now (you hear that baby? Please take note).

learnermummy · 28/05/2013 08:01

Oh rrreow I probably would get the itching checked out if I were you. Bump getting bigger in front of your eyes sounds bizarre Grin.

Oli you'll be fine. Deep breaths!Grin

pinkapples · 28/05/2013 08:03

I'm up and watching Fiji and the flowertots (might I add I have no children)

Think I'm really going to struggle with this maternity leave lark Confused

Midwife at 10.45 this morning then I may have to bimble around town or shop or something

AmIGoingMad · 28/05/2013 08:13

Oli its totally natural to be a bit freaked out. Don't worry all will be fine!Smile

I hope the weathers better with you ladies than it is here today- typical half term weather!

Have mw appt today so hopefully she can shed some light on my weird changing shape bump!

pinkapples · 28/05/2013 10:19

Just read my notes after the CTG yesterday and it says 3/5 engaged what's this mean? She didn't tell me just typed it and stuck it in so I've only just seen it

Don't worry oli I'm sure it's natural... I've potentially got 4 weeks left (38 weeks today) and am starting to panic

MrsBri · 28/05/2013 10:32

Oli, I'd feel exactly the same if I were you! It's totally natural.

You'll be fine though. :-)

Pink, it means that 2/5 of baby's head is in your pelvis heading for the exit!

Hawkmoth · 28/05/2013 11:00

Tip of the day: If you wake in the early hours with heartburn, don't lie there for an hour and a half feeling sorry for yourself BEFORE you decide to go and have a drink of milk. I'm knackered now! But milk worked a treat and DH woke me at ten!

ginauk84 · 28/05/2013 11:50

Pink I too am 3/5 engaged at 35 weeks, hoping my next apt at 37 weeks I am fully engaged Smile

learnermummy · 28/05/2013 12:39

Am a bit upset here. Just spoken to midwife and although my haemoglobin levels were fine last week my serum ferrin (??) levels are low indicating low iron levels. Need to go on iron tablets and it would be against medical advice to have a home birth. Feel very down now and can't stop blubbing.

Littlemissexpecting · 28/05/2013 12:41

Hawk I was exactly the same last night, cup of milk worked a treat though.
Learner really sorry to hear you won't get your home birth as planned. Could you ask for an iron injection to give your iron levels a quick boost?

Littlemissexpecting · 28/05/2013 12:42

This lo isn't engaged yet, wish he would hurry up as my ribs are getting very squashed!!

pinkapples · 28/05/2013 12:49

Midwife went ok measuring 39 weeks I'm 38 today but she thinks that's mainly head as yesterday was 3/5 then today 4/5 and by the end of the appointment I was back to 3/5 obviously likes poking in and out! Rude!

rrreow · 28/05/2013 12:53

learnermummy from past experience they are really quick to advise against home birth (so risk averse) for whatever reason. Maybe ask for some concrete reasons why a homebirth is not advised with low iron levels. What are the risks? Check with them what normal levels are, how much under them you are etc. So you can actually make an informed decision yourself (as in the end it IS your decision - even if they try and make it sound like it's not). Of course in the end you want to do what is best for your baby but you want to make sure you're being advised based on all the facts.

Steffanoid · 28/05/2013 13:00

sorry to hear that learner, can they not reassess your iron in a few days again?

I've got mw this afternoon, dp is printing out all tge research we've found into my depression tablets and breastfeeding, it all seems pretty inconclusive and each one contradicts another the main bad points it seems is it can make the baby more sleepy but in some cases sleep worse, there are only studies of 10 or so people so they can't definitively say yes or no, so we're hoping the mw or dog thinks it's ok, they've pushed bf on me and despite me telling them the meds im on for the depression.they've never said it may cause issues, I know it's not the end of the world if I can't feed but I want to at least be able to try, im on a low dose as it is but will see about halving it too as bf is found to be an anti depressant in itself and I have regular meetings with counsellors and docs and now how my tablets work for me and know if my mood patterns change, big rambly post from me again....

Olimoss · 28/05/2013 13:05

Thank you all for your kind words.....

I've decided to go to the pub tonight, final meal and date with the boyfriend. I think a glass of wine or so before the midnight fasting cutoff might be very valuable!

SunnyL · 28/05/2013 13:21

Just back from visiting the first baby of our NCT class. Wee tiddler was only 5lbs4 and really quite gorgeous. Although I do hope it is at least another week before mine makes its appearance - I'm also not ready!! Doesn't help that her labour was only 1.5hrs long - she's really set the bar for the rest of us.

Oh and Oli I had an entire bottle of carlsberg to myself last night - it was bliss!

pinkapples · 28/05/2013 13:22

Midwife went ok measuring 39 weeks I'm 38 today but she thinks that's mainly head as yesterday was 3/5 then today 4/5 and by the end of the appointment I was back to 3/5 obviously likes poking in and out! Rude!

forgetmenots · 28/05/2013 13:40

Really stupid q here pinkapples - does that mean if baby is less engaged it measures more because the head 'counts'?

MrsBri · 28/05/2013 13:47

Forget, the higher the first number the less engaged you are as it works backwards. So if you're 1/5 engaged you're almost fully engaged and 4/5 is a little engaged.

Confusing much?!

pinkapples · 28/05/2013 13:47

Yea think so

pinkapples · 28/05/2013 13:49

Yea think so and if your not engaged then the head would obviously count in the measurements as it there whereas if it was engaged it wouldn't count in measurements cuz it's head is in pelvis not out
