I've got a Moby but I'm a bit concerned that it'll be too hot for the summer!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 09/06/2013 10:58

Don't you count it like a layer (or2) of clothes so adjust was lo is wearing accordingly?
My mei tai is equivalent to a snowsuit

Lorelei353 · 09/06/2013 12:06

Grin at lib being jealous of the mucus plug (even if I am a bit too - would be nice to have a sign that something's happening).

bringonthetrumpets · 09/06/2013 15:20

I used a Moby for DS2 and it was really crazy hot in the summer. Babies are such little heaters to start with, then you've got like 2 pounds of fabric on plus your own clothes. Wouldn't recommend it Sad. I haven't tried a sling one before, but it would be interesting to try one out. Maybe that'll be the next venture to take while waiting for this kiddo....

Watching your thread Jo! So jealous and excited at the same time.

Had about 3 hrs of strong, regular ctx last night after the acupuncture and the disgusting Chinese herbs she gave me. I'm supposed to take them 3x per day but I don't think I can do it b/c they are so VILE. But, fell asleep and now I'm hiding out in bed from the kids and hubby. Starving but I don't feel like going downstairs to the mayhem ~

Grin Grin Grin pops out the alcohol free bubbly.

bringonthetrumpets · 09/06/2013 16:18

Awesome news! The tea she'd been brewing will feel wonderful on those sutures when she gets home!

Lorelei353 · 09/06/2013 16:40

So exciting. I forgot she had the tea on. Will definitely feel good later. Another baby for cuddles! My turn?

kittykatsforever · 09/06/2013 19:44

All of you due this week, exciting I predict a baby boom!!
Fab news for Jojo Grin

Librarina · 09/06/2013 21:24

I'm a mixture of very very happy for JoJo and a bit grumpy that she has a baby and I have indigestion and fat feet.

I've a consultant appointment in the morning but I'm not going to let them do anything to me!

I've just made 2 pregnancy playlists. The 'uptempo' one is 9.5 hours long, the 'downbeat' version is 9.7 hours... If I have to listen to both all the way through I just might be rather cross.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 09/06/2013 23:13

Woo 3 carseats occupied on the luxury bus, I'm sure the rest will be filled by the end of the week.

lib you'll have your snuggly baby soon enough.

jojo I can't believe you stole lores due date. Wink although glad the bus doesn't have a baby drought any more.

How are you all coping with the heat?

bringonthetrumpets · 10/06/2013 01:54

And then there were 3....

I wonder who's next!

Jojobump1986 · 10/06/2013 13:33

We're home! Grin

Awful night. I was originally in a room with 1 first time mum who was completely clueless but at 10.30pm they moved us to another room along with another first timer because they wanted our room for inductions. Hmm First timer #1 complained loudly about the move & the fact that they'd done her baby's obs just before moving & then wanted to do hers just after we'd got settled. She huffily told the nurse that the only thing wrong with her was lack of sleep before promptly falling asleep & snoring loudly while her baby cried. Any time her baby wasn't crying, first timer #2 was faffing with hers & turning her light on & off every few minutes. Just after I got DS2 settled after the umpteenth disturbance & finally managed to drop off... #1 finally woke up at 4am & cooed loudly at her baby about how she was 'having a competition' with baby #2 to see who could be the loudest & that she couldn't possibly still be hungry & if she wasn't hungry then mummy didn't know what the matter could be so she must just like to make a lot of noise... I came so close to pointing out that mum #1 was making more noise than all the babies put together & that baby #1 had filled her nappy loudly twice while mum #1 was snoring & would probably stop disturbing everyone else if she was changed! Wink

My parents came over to look after DS1 & strained my tea for me! Grin They clearly think I'm mad! Mum's on her way here now to bring DS1 home & once she's gone I'm really looking forward to my bath!

Lorelei353 · 10/06/2013 13:54

Enjoy it jojo. Must be great to be home.

I hope I'm not a really annoying first timer in the post natal Ward. Sad . Just waiting to go in to mw. Nothing to report though. Not much going on yet.

bringonthetrumpets · 10/06/2013 14:51

Oh god! That does sound like a horrible night on the ward....makes me remember my first night with DS1 and how miserable it was! So glad you're home and able to rest up in your own bed with a sweet new little babe! Oh so envious! Keep those legs together and take some soothing baths with your tea, it'll all heal up in no time. Smile.

I'm sure you'll be totally fine sane in the postnatal ward Lor Wink. Good luck at the mw.

More meaningless ctx. I wish everything would quit faffing around and just get on with it. This is officially the longest I've ever been pregnant. Happy due date to me Sad. It's not even a sunny day to go outside, it's pouring down again

Happy due date bring

All good with midwife. Baby is totally down, ready to go. All is well in terms of heartbeats and blood pressures etc. Just no sign of baby yet. Really hoping it starts in the next day or so. I walked home from mw in the hope of getting things going.

kittykatsforever · 10/06/2013 16:28

Bring there is nothing happy about reaching a due date unless you have baby ir are in labour Hmm
Jojo that reminds me of my first time in hospital with dd1 the girl next to me was playing her baby music on her iPhone all firkin night, no it didn't sooth the baby and I'd have happily throttled her especially as she decided to eat crisps at midnight crunching very loudly!!!
I had the ward to myself this time then a private room when I was re admitted, can't tel you what a difference it made! Found out then that it was only £35 a private room anyway and if I'd known that I'd have paid first time! Might be worth you checking it out lor and lib as believe me if you've been awake for 24 hrs or more all you want is sleep and the difference your own room makes in unbelievable!

Lorelei353 · 10/06/2013 17:05

I've already checked it out. It's £300 a night at my hospital and it's pretty much first come, first served - although I think they slightly prioritise women who have had a difficult birth or a section. I'm going to request it and see what happens.

bringonthetrumpets · 10/06/2013 18:47

So, I on a whim decided to go get a massage to celebrate pass the day and I got this masseuse who reminded me of a very creepy boss I had in high school when I worked at a pizza place. Lol, I just had to make sure to keep my eyes closed and imagine that it was dh. It felt nice, but it was slightly less than completely relaxing! Now I'm home and twiddling my thumbs again. Hoohumm.

Happy due date bring! Both my friend & I went 5 days over... Maybe you will too... Better than 2 weeks! Wink

I just had my first herbal bath! It was... interesting...! Never had a green bath before! Grin Not sure if it really helped or not. Everything is just sore! Twas a v dramatic 'get this baby out now' type pushing situation because one of the midwives was incompetent & was trying to find the heartbeat in the lower abdomen when she should've been looking by my pubic bone! The other midwife found it straight away! Hmm Anyway, because of that I think I have varicose veins in various places but I don't dare look! so everything just feels swollen & sore down there. I'm trying out the witch hazel on pads idea which is a bit more stingy than I expected - kinda like the uber-fresh feeling of extra strong mouthwash! Weird!

Also, my nipples hurt thanks to DS2's crocodile latching technique & DS1 is finding it hard to adjust. I don't know if it's DS2 that he's struggling with or if he's just a bit over-stimulated from being whisked off to my parents & spoilt for 24 hours! Hopefully he'll settle down soon!

bringonthetrumpets · 10/06/2013 19:15

Yes, let's not talk about me going to 42 weeks. I don't want to jinx anything!

Having a couple of baths a day is the most beneficial, even if they are just super shallow. Let everything air-dry while sitting on a towel too can be soothing. You can also put the witch hazel pads in the fridge (I know, SUPER cold!) and that can help with the swelling. Does it feel like the babe is clamping down while feeding? Any clenching of the jaw?

OP posts:
Librarina · 10/06/2013 20:42

I wouldn't mind so much about being overdue, I'm comfy enough and baby is still very wriggly, the only thing that makes me tense is that if you go over 12 days, or if you're induced then you can't go in the midwife led unit with the pretty fairy lights and the bubbles, you have to go in the ward and I haven't wanted that from the start. I think I could go to 43 weeks quite happily if I knew I could have the birth I wanted at the end of it.

Jojobump1986 · 10/06/2013 23:08

No, no clamping after the initial 'this is mine' enthusiasm! He went about 4 hours between feeds this evening, sleeping solidly for 2.5 hours. We woke him up for a feed & he screamed through DH doing a nappy & has now been at the breast for about 1.5 hours! He was sucking for a few minutes, falling asleep, letting go, waking up & rooting frantically but has now figured out how to feed while sleeping.

Oh, & people are right when they say you feel the after-pains more with 2nd babies. Ouch! Am I allowed ibuprofen?!

bringonthetrumpets · 11/06/2013 01:53

Yes! Take ibuprofen and keep on top of it.
