O oo oooh lore exciting, I do hope it's on it's way. Sending positive labour vibes

Lorelei353 · 11/06/2013 09:22

They slowed down for a bit that allowed me to get a bit more sleep but they're getting stronger now. Still about 11-15 mins apart but lasting longer and getting painful. I think baby is on the way!

kittykatsforever · 11/06/2013 09:52

Oh lor how exciting!!! And not far from due date! Keep us updated!
Can't believe your girl itl charges that much for a private room?! Are they very special or something? At mine they are on the same ward but just in your own room, not different food or your own bathroom or anything but they do get prioritised to people with difficult births or c sections like yours
Lib- I don't think you have to be induced, you can request not to and they will monitor you regulaly, why not see how you feel day by day but don't feel you have to be induced
Jojo I'd never heard that about second births but yes I've had much more aches and pains this time! I had a mammoth baby feed last night and she would not let go of my nipple either practically felt like it was sucked dry, she's very good all day and night with food on the whole but in the morning demands breckfast brunch and a snack before lunch!!

Lorelei353 · 11/06/2013 10:00

The private rooms do have their own bathroom but other than that they're just small rooms just outside the main ward. Nothing special about them.

Jojobump1986 · 11/06/2013 10:09

Eek! That's so exciting lor! Grin Keep us updated & don't let anyone put you in an ambulance if you don't think you'll make it! Wink

I like green baths! No idea if it's actually doing anything but it's not 'just water' & smells nice so it's helping psychologically if nothing else! Smile I'm beginning to feel a little more human - even managed to get DS1 up & breakfasted by myself while DH & DS2 had a lie-in! It was really nice to spend some time as just the 2 of us. I guess he's used to having me to himself during the day & he certainly seemed to appreciate it!

Librarina · 11/06/2013 12:04

Well done Jojo on getting baby up and fed, that sounds like a massive achievement.

And hurray for Lor having contractions!

And can I say YAY! To my DH who has just had the entire box set of Friends delivered to our house after I said that was the only thing I wanted to watch.

Did some rather odd yoga this morning involving visualising kittens and bunnies swimming out of their mothers. I also baked some more and now have 9 nights worth of meals in the freezer.

bringonthetrumpets · 11/06/2013 16:59

Awesome news Lor! Hoping the birth goes the way you've envisioned all this time!

So, midwives cancelled another apt on me (3rd in a row) due to being at another birth. Feeling like my nose is being rubbed in it a bit (thanks Universe, I get the point Hmm). 40+1. My to-do list was exhausted a long time ago, now I'm just cleaning out of pure boredom as there's nothing left to do! Plus a girl can only get so many pedicures and massages....At least I will have a clean and tidy bed, clean floors, clean bathrooms, and vacuumed rugs.

< looks around wearily wishing my own house was clean and sparkly>
Hope lor is ok, sending positive vibes

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 11/06/2013 20:05

kitty when bring has finished her house she's can do ours. Wink I'm too tired to clean, or even tidy

jojo you green bath sounds relaxing.

bring it will be your time to cause the cancellations soon. Grin

Yay for box set lib will give you something to watch both whilst you wait for baby and during he early days.

Hope it's going well lore

bringonthetrumpets · 11/06/2013 22:48

Sure! My own house is completely done, might as well work on another one.

1 of the midwives decided to drop-in for an impromptu home visit due to the labor they're at going very slowly. Nothing exciting to report. BP is slowly creeping up though. She says it's normal for end-of-pregnancy, but now I'm all in my midwife brain again over-analysing everything. Baby is also nowhere near being engaged. Midwife says she's thinking she'll see me before our next visit next week, I'm thinking probably not! I figure pessimism is the best bet now from here on out, optimism wasn't working too well!

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 12/06/2013 07:36

bring it must be hard to switch of the midwife brain and not over analyse yourself.
Is the high bp at the end of pregnancy because the mum to be has had enough of being pregnant? - that's as far my analysing goes. Grin

And to distract you what's the best way to deal with mastitis?

kittykatsforever · 12/06/2013 09:10

Frus from what I've heard feed feed and feed through it, as much as possible!
You've not got the beginning of it have you?? Hmm

kittykatsforever · 12/06/2013 09:11

I'd see someone aswell ASAP as I think it'd be better nipped in the bud and they give you meds aswell I think

Librarina · 12/06/2013 10:42

Hi! So we've not heard from Lor since Tuesday morning, reckon she is having her baby?

I'm feeling loads more positive and happy today. I finally feel 'ready'. There are 10 days of meals in the freezer, 2 batches of muesli bars and 1 batch of chocolate & dates bars. The babies room is done, quilt on the wall, cushions made, pictures lovely. My bags are packed and playlists made AND I've just had a really nice stretch and sweep. Felt more rummagy than I'd thought but breathing works fine and I feel good afterwards.

Looking at my notes now my cervix is slightly posterior, soft and beginning to efface (?). Admits 1 finger (one of her massive fingers!) and then it says something i can't read like 'capl 2 spines'.

Feel very reassured that my body is starting to do what it is supposed to even though I don't realise it!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 12/06/2013 11:05

lib I hope she's is and everything is going well.
Yay for happy sweep.

kitty have the red rash and temp. And now have a AB prescription. Now to find a chemist. And try to convince ds to feed rugby ball style.

Jojobump1986 · 12/06/2013 12:49

Ouch Frus! Glad you're getting it sorted so quickly. I hear it can make you feel pretty awful! Sad

I'm really sore. The latch is good & he's feeding really well but sometimes he seems to prefer going 5 hours between feeds & then feeding constantly for 1.5 hours & other times he'll feed for 20 mins every 2.5 hours & my poor breasts don't know what's going on & seem to be producing enough to feed him for 1.5 hours every 2.5 hours! I'm so swollen already but I think my milk is only just starting to come in. I had to express a bit last night just to get comfortable enough to lie down! Little angel fed nicely at 2 & again at 4 before promptly vomiting most of it back up as soon as I lay him down, had a little at 9 but nothing since & is currently sound asleep on my swollen breast hmph-ing at me when I try to wake him up! I need to feed!

Lib I've never heard anyone describe a sweep as 'really nice' before! Grin Glad you're feeling so positive & ready... Now we just need a few more babies on this bus! Come on little ones!

Speaking of which... How's it going Lor? I hope no news is good news & you're too busy having newborn snuggles to remember us! Wink

Bring, it can't be too much longer now... Hang in there!

Jojobump1986 · 12/06/2013 12:56

Oh, & a tip for the first timers because I'm sure everyone else who's done it before is way more sensible than me & remembers these things!... Drink. And nap. And snack. A lot! I keep forgetting how draining breastfeeding is & ended up with a terrible headache last night. DH is now under strict instruction to bring me drinks & snacks whenever I'm feeding him & to make me rest! Clearly I need to be told to do these things! Blush

Librarina · 12/06/2013 13:13

Well I've just napped since my last post so I'm taking your advice Jojo

bringonthetrumpets · 12/06/2013 14:05

Looks like I'm late to the thread. Yes, Frus ABx are definitely the way to go. Glad you were able to get in and get them straight away. Here's to mending quickly!

Wow Lib check you out! You're all set! Sounds like your body is on it's way to getting all set for labor.

Jo you can totally express (even just a bit with your hands to relieve the pressure) between feeds to stay comfortable. If they get super engorged and they still feel painful after he's fed, you can express them completely empty 1 time in 24 hrs without it causing a change in your supply. And yes! Rest (you're healing from giving birth woman! stay off those feet ), snack and LOTS of water.

Thinking of you Lor! Excited for an update!

Jojobump1986 · 12/06/2013 14:47

Yes, Mum! Wink I've not actually got out of bed at all today, other than to go to the toilet! We've got a few things planned for the next couple of days so I thought I'd best rest while I can! I do need to move around from time to time though - I have backache & have to stand still for a few moments whenever I stand up before I can start walking! Once I get moving it soon loosens up though!

DS2 was having problems latching on because I was so swollen! He got there eventually & had a good feed from one side but still hasn't emptied it. I had to express from the other side too because I was in so much pain. I got 40mls out in just a few minutes... According to my research, DS2's tummy has a 25ml capacity at this age! No worries about me not having enough to donate to the milk bank then! DS1 is v excited about drinking the expressed 'Mammy milk'!

kittykatsforever · 12/06/2013 15:07

Plus lib your post did make me laugh as you can tell this is your first, all the baking and batch cooking making pictures etc I remember all that and this time I was lucky if I for time to get a big shop in and hover the carpet lol

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 12/06/2013 15:08

I had a nap too Grin although an earlier one might be advised in future as doing the school run half asleep and late in the rain isn't fun.

Librarina · 12/06/2013 17:01

Just had another nap. I did my pregnancy yoga then fell asleep on the floor. I wonder if I can nap through labour?

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 12/06/2013 18:21

Does passing out count as napping during labour lib? in my defence my bp dropped to 50

kittykatsforever · 12/06/2013 18:44

I had written a msg for you Jojo and its vanishedConfused just saying basically your boobs sounded like mine, I had 4/5 days of them being really uncomfy full, wonder if its being a second time feeder but I expressed about 2oz off each side for those days and now they have settled and are comfy all the time, I encourage dd to feed every 3 hrs in the day and wake her if I have to then just let her wake herself at night, for a couple of days when she was as new as your ds she wouldn't wake at all in the day having 5-7 hr stints asleep but now she wakes up almost exactly the same time for feeds each day and is only waking 1-2 times in the night
