Hello everyone and welcome to what I am sure will be the final ever Due in April 2013 thread! Sad Grin

Only a few of us left still holding on and fingers crossed we will all pop within the first few pages of this thread

So let me kick off...

I am currently 40+11 and due to be admitted to hospital tomorrow to start induction. I've been told to expect a May birth as my cervix is still high and very closed!

Lets get everyone else checked in who is still holding on and all the other April ladies can wave the pom poms and send labour vibes to those of us yet to have our lovely newborn snuggles.

Nine days overdue. Sigh.

edinfirst · 03/05/2013 09:11

Good luck photo and hang on in there Oli

HadALittleFaithBaby · 03/05/2013 09:48

Come on baby Olli!

photochick · 03/05/2013 12:12

baby Sylvia (middle name to be decided) was born today at 3.51am weighing 8lbs.

Had been having contractions from 9pm Tuesday. Got checked in hospital 5am yesterday morning. Sent home with a tens machine which I didn't realise was so effective until I took it off at 8.30pm to have a bath. Lasted 1/2 an hour. Got to hospital just before 10 - 9cms! No wonder it bloody hurt!

Got in birthing pool which was lovely but contractions stopped so had to get out and go on a drip. Still fine till her shoulder got stuck and I got left with a third degree tear :-/

She is beautiful and perfect though and I will heal!

HadALittleFaithBaby · 03/05/2013 12:58

What an experience! Well congratulations photo Thanks welcome to the world Sylvia!

usernamegoeshere · 03/05/2013 13:03

Aww congratulations!

Teapig · 03/05/2013 13:25

Huge congratulations photo! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Ollibobs · 03/05/2013 16:29

Congrats Knew! Lovely name!

Ollibobs · 03/05/2013 16:30

And congratulations to photo! Wishing you a speedy recovery and love the name!

bext · 03/05/2013 18:53

All I can say is thank god that it's sunny or I would be finding the waiting game extremely difficult. I'm consoling myself with the fact that getting a sun-tanned face now will make me look much more human on those "just given birth" photographs when women usually look like they've just been dug up from a grave Grin.

Huge congratulations to photochick, jacqueline, dancinglola, lilie86 and rivergirly, there's been a good baby rush in the last couple of days!

bext · 03/05/2013 19:08

So in my boredom, I've updated the Facebook list (sorry I'm not sure how to do the list on here).

Can anyone remember whether there was news was about Aufaniae, Alwayshopeful, or Cheeseandmushroomtoastie? I feel like I've seen posts from them but they haven't been updated on the list. I hope all is ok with them and they've just dropped off the board in the chaos of new-mumhood. Or perhaps they're on the post-natal board and I've missed them. Smile

HadALittleFaithBaby · 03/05/2013 20:11

Oh you poor soul bext! I hope it's not long.

cheese definitely had her baby. The others I'm not sure about...are there not many MIA then?

bext · 03/05/2013 20:29

There's quite a few MIA but the ones below were the ones who I could remember had posted fairly recently so I had a feeling I'd missed news rather than they'd gone AWOL before birth IYSWIM!

Ollibobs · 03/05/2013 23:23

Is it just me or are there only a few of us waiting for our babies left on this board? It's so quiet over here while the post-natal thread is bustling. Hmm

Who's left to pop?

toobreathless · 04/05/2013 01:52

Just popping by to say a huge congratulations to all those who have just had their babies.

Thinking of those still waiting Olli & bext my DD1 was induced eventually very late so I feel your pain!

bext · 04/05/2013 02:43

Oil, I fear it's just me and you Hmm

Perhaps we should pack our bags and take up early residence on the post natal thread? At least we'll learn a few things!

FactOfTheMatter · 04/05/2013 03:13

It's been a very long time since I checked in, but I'm still waiting. 40+11 now, so induction tomorrow if nothing happens in the next 24 hrs.

photochick · 04/05/2013 05:37

Good luck olli bext and fact, plus anyone else left!

Just over 24hrs in and I say get your test while you can x x

jj247 · 04/05/2013 10:31

Good luck olli bext and fact not long to go now although I know how excruciating the wait can be.

I've not made it to the postnatal thread yet (don't know how everyone find time to view let alone post! )
Charlotte is 5 days old today and still won't let us put her down so dp and I are pretty exhausted at doing the tag team every night. Also suffering very sore nipples making breast feeding very painful but I only have to gaze at her to know it's all worthwhile.
I went in for an induction at 10am Sunday, still just 1 cm dilated after 2 sweeps the week before. The first pessary wasn't put in properly so it fell out 2 hrs later when I went to the loo. Second attempt was put in around 3:30pm and we went for a wander round the hospital. My Hind waters had been dribbling since the morning and that dribble seemed to increase as did my period type pains. By 4:30pm the pains were definitely cycling but immediately every 2 minutes and very intense. The consultant came in and checked to say my waters had broken and I was 2cm dilated, but monitoring the baby's heart beat revealed it doing very low with each contraction.

By 8pm the heart rate wasn't recovering enough and in an instant an alarm was raised and a crash team rushed me into theatre for an immediate emrrgency section. The entire surgical team introduced themselves then baby's heart rate Rose again. Shift change meant an entire new team in theatre and dp being allowed in fully gowned up and thankfully asked for some pain relief for me so I got the gas and air. As the heart rate settled down we were allowed back out to a labour room where I'd become 3-4cm dilated (is that all!). Midwife persuaded me to have some more pain relief as baby's heart rate was still dropping with each contraction. Immediate difference to myself and baby, heart rate still went down but recovery was much faster. As pain relief wore off i'd finally become fully dilated but I felt no urge to push. An hour later still nothing so midwife tried talking me through it but still nothing. At this point she insisted I get off all 4s and sit with get in stirrups just what I hadn't wanted. I was given an hour to deliver or back to theatre for forceps delivery. Thankfully they could then see progress so I get being given extensions and finally Charlotte appeared 1hr snd 45mins later. We'd asked for delayed cord clamping but immediately the cord was clamped and cut, she was rubbed vigorously with a total and whisked away. The cord had been tight round her neck probably causing all the previous dips in her heart rate. 5mins later she was brought back though perfect in every way Smile.
Despite nothing going to our originsl plan apart from getting a vaginal birth I think the labour went well, I've no cuts or tears and both of us are doing so well, I've nothing but praise for the staff at the hospital.

NotShortImFunSized · 05/05/2013 11:26

Olli Bext & Fact the waiting must be driving you mad! I hope the babies decide to put in an appearance very soon. Good luck to you all :D

I still haven't made it to the postnatal thread, I can just about keep up with FB!

Will be checking for your news and cheering you on Smile

birdbrain17 · 05/05/2013 11:36

those still waiting hang on nobody can have much longer to go now we're nearly a week into may!But you are more then welcome to join the postnatal thread early if you're feeling to lonely here Smile

can't wait to see this thread quiet and abandoned Wink xx

MrsB76 · 05/05/2013 14:46

Hi Ladies,

last night at 2am I had contractions lasting 60 seconds, 2-3 minutes apart, so we took a cab to the hospital - where they promptly stopped! Was told I was still at 2cm and sent home - nothing happening since. Today 40+5. Argh! Will probably be the last one to have their baby! Congrats to everyone with LOs and wishing lots of strength for those first few months.

Supershiv1 · 05/05/2013 20:07

Hello. I'm from July antenatal thread but actually gave birth on 13th April. I suppose I should join the post natal thread.
Oliver is in NICU and only weighed just over 1lb, but he's still fighting. And Ollibobs is what I call him x

Trishstar · 05/05/2013 20:09

Welcome Supershiv. How is Oliver doing? Xx

Supershiv1 · 05/05/2013 22:25

Ups and downs. Damn scary. Had the consultant conversation of doom 3 times so far (I.e. next 24 hrs critical, 30% survival chance, extreme prematurity etc).
Living on site at hospital as level 3 NICU is away from home.
Had a quick look at April post natal but don't think I'm in the same place as the other April mums (will get jealous hearing about cuddles etc) so will stick to July and the premature section. Blush
Good luck to all those left to pop x
