Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My ds is 8 months and loves our big soppy dog. He kicks his little legs and squeals whenever the dog moves- also loves tail and ear pulling Grin. The dog is incredibly good natured and seems not to mind at all, his payment is getting the scraps from the high chair!
I had my own home Doppler last time too- rented from anawiz- until I felt movements and then I sent it back. It was great for reassurance but there were a couple of times I couldn't find it and I did panic! Had to go away walk about and try later and then I did find it but I got quite stressed by it. I'm not getting one this time as am hoping ill feel movements sooner as its a second.

Thanks everyone! Had a really great first day. People are really lovely and the job is brilliant. Bit frazzled now!

Slippysnow · 29/04/2013 18:28

:) so pleased to hear such lovely dog/baby stories.

JethroTull · 29/04/2013 19:02

Hello ladies. I know I don't post very much but I lurk read every day & wanted to say how great it is to have so many other stories that make me feel I'm not on my own. We got a boxer puppy last summer thinking we were never going to have a baby. Then we were suddenly able to afford to go for private IVF treatment & it worked Grin. Ever since my BFP I've been worried about how I'll cope with a dog & a baby and reading your posts today has made me feel more confident so thanks!

I heard the heartbeat last week at my 16 week midwife appointment. It was amazing! It made me cry. I'm still amazed every day that I'm actually pregnant & I guess that's why I don't post much, I'm almost worried that talking about it will jinx something.

Thanks again.

Glad amnio and first day went well.
Shame you can't take time off work soup, do try to rest as much as you can.

A girl in the class told me today that my tummy is getting really big so I definitely have a noticeable bump even in the mornings now to an unbiased observer. Another drew a picture of me at home saying I was beautiful. Others were asking if and how the baby moved and if it hurt me. 5 year olds have been the most interested and nice. Several people at work told me I still look really slim today and this week, not that I was asking or saying anything about my size. I don't want to be told that as it isn't true and presumes I am getting upset about growing bigger. Or that they genuinely don't notice any changes. I am proud of my bump! Quite annoyed about all the unsolicited comments about what I am eating and whether I should change it several times a day from various people (I am vegetarian so I presume that is what they are asking about), how slim I am, where the fat is distributed and what they think I will look like over the next few weeks. People aren't asking how I feel and whether everything is going ok.

I weighed myself yesterday, I have continued to put on 1lb a week since 10 weeks so 9lb in total now at 15+1. Also measured myself, hips grown about 6 inches (maybe I am storing the baby there...), boobs about 5 inches, waist no longer exists, it is the same as under my boobs, and tummy I don't know what it was before but now very prominent.

ananikifo · 29/04/2013 19:18

I just bought a baby heartbeat listening app for my iPhone, and I think I've spent the last half hour listening to my bowel sounds. Blush No heartbeat though.

Umlauf · 29/04/2013 19:23

Which one did you get ananifako ? I bought the babyscope app on ipad months ago and have NEVER had success with it. The reviews were really good, but then I got an email from them asking me to review it, and the email said 'some of our competitors leave bad reviews, saying our app doesn't work.' Not competitors!! Grr...

The dragon midwife allowed me all of 2 beats before she whipped the Doppler away.

But scan on Friday yay yay yay!

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/04/2013 19:26

I am very intrigued by a Doppler app but not sure it would work on me yet. Investigating anyway!

ananikifo · 29/04/2013 19:41

Umlauf I bought the stethoscope one that was linked to upthread and then I bought baby scope. It makes me sad to say this but I'm wondering if I have too much belly fat to get a good sound. I'll try again early in the morning when my body might be quieter, but I don't have much hope. I can barely find my own heartbeat in my chest.

Wickedgirl · 29/04/2013 19:45

I have a Doppler but it can't pick up any baby sounds. I have given up as I can feel the baby moving anyway

ananikifo · 29/04/2013 19:55

I'm not going to spend any more money in this as I hope to feel the baby in the next month and a growing bump (plus other symptoms) is enough of a sign that there's a growing baby there.

It would have been really nice to hear it tonight though.

Shirehobbit · 29/04/2013 20:14

We've taken a similar decision ananakifo
I maybe a bit wrung out over it, but maybe it's time to believe the best rather than the worst.
3.5wks isn't that long to wait, is it? I mean I coped so well with the long wait for the 12wk scan Hmm!!

Iheartcrunchiebars · 29/04/2013 20:20

Hi Jethro that is lovely! Congratulations xxx

ananikifo · 29/04/2013 20:37

Hi jethro I missed your post in a crosspost. Congrats!

Shirehobbit the wait for my next scan feels like forever! Mine is on 5 June.

Claphammama · 29/04/2013 20:50

What a lovely post Jethro! Really happy for you. Hope you will be posting more often now :-)

I am trying not to be impatient and remember that our mums had nothing. No scans, no dopplers, no phone apps, no blood tests. My scan is on 4th June - feels like next year!

The lergy is back with full force now so I'm back on the sofa, DP had to cook and put DS to bed again

Sanjifair · 29/04/2013 21:13

A tip for those worrying about cars getting in Moses baskets and cots, we bought a cat net that you put over the basket and protects the baby. We did this until DS moved to his own room, where we just kept the door shut. Couldn't shut our bedroom door though as they would have dug the carpet up!

I hadn't heard of those heart rate apps. Off to download now!

Sanjifair · 29/04/2013 21:13

Cats! Not cars!!!

Sanjifair · 29/04/2013 21:44

Just tried istethoscope app. Couldn't even get it to find my heart beat, let alone baby's! Oh well :-(

FeministInTraining · 29/04/2013 22:23

Hope you get some reassuring news soon Soup glad today wasn't too painful.

I tried the stethoscope app, heard my own heartbeat and then briefly one that sounded the same in my belly (must be placenta I guess) but no baby. Lots of bowel noises though Hmm Trying not to panic, this is why I didn't buy a doppler! 16 wk app tomorrow, hope I hear it then...

SeriousStuff · 29/04/2013 23:00

Congratulations Jethro! The whole process we're going through is pretty unbelievable isn't it, and just think, now you have a gorgeous boxer and a baby on the way. My DH is desperate for a boxer as a second dog...maybe we see how the baby thing pans out first!

CocktailSausage · 29/04/2013 23:53

Marking my place. Wow! Thread 7 already. I can't keep up.

roofio87 · 30/04/2013 04:48

Pink buttons it could be a uti so it's best to get checked out. Pregnant women are at higher risk. It's normal to go more often when you're pregnant but if it suddenly gets worse like you describe I think I would just go to the GP to be safe.
