Check it out, pink.
Good luck today MoN.

Soupqueen · 30/04/2013 07:06

MoN, keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you today.

natalie, my risk was 1 in 57. wickedgirl, we've said no to finding out the sex, but we can change our mind at any point which we may well do!

sanjifair, where did you get the cat net? That sounds like the solution for us. I love the idea of cars trying to get in! Grin

Natalieand · 30/04/2013 07:10

soupqueen I googled the nets last night mothercare sell them for £5.99
Bargain :-) thanks for the tip sanji

Shire saw my midwife yesterday. I've had a pain on and off at the side Iy tummy. She says it's normal and is just ligaments stretching and only to worry if it's very sharp or bleeding. Mind you I think I'm lucky. See her at the local children's centre and she has plenty of time to chat. Heard the heart beat but not for long as the baby moved so actually quite hard to find so we shouldn't worry if we cant find them ourselves

Flyer747 · 30/04/2013 07:18

Natalie my sister suffers bad allergic reaction to sun cream. We go on holiday together all the time and she swears by piz buin allergy cream, they even do one especially for the face!

Good luck today mon...
I have my 16 week check up today.

JellyCurls · 30/04/2013 07:27

Good luck with appointments today ladies.

MoN keeping everything crossed for you, like soup says amnio is not sore more like a scratch but do rest afterwards.

soup I hope you are well after your amnio yesterday and managing to keep occupied x

TheFalconsmistress · 30/04/2013 08:02

Good luck with your appointment mon xxxxx

Ds goes away for a weeks holiday today with my mum and dad I am going miss him so so much!!

HotSoupDumpling · 30/04/2013 08:05

Good luck MoN

Soupqueen, hope you are taking it easy.

Lost, that's v reassuring. I was going to mention to my midwife today that I also have been feeling stretchy pains in my stomach side/front muscles when I use them. Seriously it felt like they were just stretching apart and gong loose! Ugh.

Pink, like the girls say, it's almost certainly a UtI. Until you get your hands on the right antibiotics, the best thing to do apparently, counter-intuitively, is actually to drink a lot and go to the toilet whenever you feel the need. Don't try to hold it in. (This comes from someone who has had a LOT over the ears!)

pinkbuttons · 30/04/2013 08:05

Thanks ladies will check it out.

Thinking if you today MoN, hooe all goes well.

natalie my DS has sensitive skin too and had a reaction to suncream while we were away last month. have had to get him specific one for childrens sensitive skin but there was lots of choice at boots. we had to avoid any with colouring in it like the blue ones as it seemed to be that made it much worse.

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 08:06

Morning all! Marking my 15 weeks milestone today with another day off sick. Feeling guilty as always when I have to take a day off but going to the office yesterday voiceless and feeling rubbish was pretty pointless. Feel like I've been I'll for weeks now...

MoN thinking about you today!

soup hope this waiting is not too tough!

By the way, anyone else have been having vivid weird dreams? Is it a pregnancy thing or just my own messed up brain? :-)

Umlauf · 30/04/2013 08:18

Thinking of you mon when do amnio results come in? Hope its not too long a wait.

I have the stretchy pains too, especially after a cough or sneeze. I'm not worried..

Clapham sorry you're still feeling rubbish. I'm feeling a lot better but dreading my 12 hour day today. Thank god its a bank holiday tomorrow so I can glue myself to the sofa!

terrifiednewbie · 30/04/2013 08:22

just a quick note to say good luck with the amnios MoN and soup (just flicked through and realised youve had yours already soup).

And wave hi to everyone!

Haylebop12 · 30/04/2013 08:52

clap yes strange dreams... Dd(4) won £6m on the lottery. We must have given her a £1 to put on a lucky dip. Dh wouldn't let her claim it as she's too young. When I finally talked him round I suggested we buy a house as we rent and he said no its her money. What 4yo needs £6m!!! I was fuming. So we carried on living in a small two bed house with two children!

Good luck today MoN

Not in work until 1pm so just dropped dd at school and come home for toast and marmite Grin!

Slippysnow · 30/04/2013 08:57

Hiya,
Good luck mon.
natalie try simple sun cream they do a kids range.
Re urine infections or possible ones. I read advice that during pregnancy you should lean forward whilst weeping as it helps to empty your bladder :)- don't know whether a big bump will get in the way of this but until it does worth a try.
Any one having scans today?

Smitten1981 · 30/04/2013 09:11

Good luck today MoN.

Clapham - yes to the vivid dreams. I had my first baby-related anxiety dream last night that I'd had it and was asleep, then woke up and realised it hadn't cried all night and I hadn't fed it at all so tried to shove some baby food in it's mouth and slapped it on the back.

Random!

roxvox · 30/04/2013 09:23

Clapham I have been having very vivid and bizarre dreams. I think it's why I am always so tired; because my dreams are so active!

Haylebop I am feeling ridiculously jealous of you right now. How much I would like to be at home eating Marmite on toast!

SlippySnow whilst I haven't read that about leaning forward to empty your bladder, it is something that I have noticed that if I do then I tend to wee a little bit more out!

I too had no luck with the doppler apps, so am kind of relieved that I am not the only one because I know not to let it concern me now.

It's been 2 weeks since my MW did the doppler, and it is 2 weeks until my 20 week scan. I am seriously tempted to ask the midwife for another doppler this week (she did say to just text if I had any concerns and she would fit me in), but I don't really have any reason to be concerned, so I shouldn't do it really. 2 weeks isn't really that long to wait so I just need to man up and be patient!

Soup I hope you are feeling ok today.

MoN I know you haven't been on in a while, but we are all thinking of you today! Best of luck.

Haylebop12 · 30/04/2013 09:39

rox I keep trying to find ways of getting it into other food. Nice of steak! I've had two rounds so far and contemplating another couple of rounds of toast Grin don't be jel, I'm at work at 1pm :-( at least I got 3 days off then!

Haylebop12 · 30/04/2013 09:39

On* steak!

roxvox · 30/04/2013 09:42

Oh, haylebop, have you ever tried Marmite on banana? So good. I buy the squeezy Marmite and squeeze a little dap on each bite of banana. Marmity and one of your five-a-day Wink

Warlin · 30/04/2013 09:42

MoN good luck today, fingers crossed for you.

shire and serious our dog is a nervous dog too but at the start the only real difference she noticed was that I was home all day! Its not as if a toddler turns up and newborns sleep most of the time so the dogs have plenty of time to get used to the smells etc before they start being pulled and grabbed! Dog psychologists say that if you have a strong bond with your dog, the dog will see that you love the baby and will love it too. I think as long as they still get their walks and one to one attention they are fine. But yes, best to get used to the wheels!

I have had such a stressful morning. DS still has V&D and we woke this morning so poo all over his bed. He then threw up his entire bottle over me, our bed and my newly washed hair...grr....so had to go back into the shower, strip the bed, get the washing machine on and still get into work for 8 Shock

Then to add to my stress this morning I noticed some brown staining.....trying not to overly stress as it's not red but I have had some mild cramps. Google seems to mention cervical erosion (harmless) or DTD (we did it last night for the first time in over a week...sorry tmi!) so I'm trying not to panic. It's making me feel a bit uneasy though. Going to just keep an eye on it and phone the mw if it gets worse. My mw isn't great and I predict she will just fob me off so I'm not rushing to make the call. Anyone else had this?

soup hope you are getting lots of rest and coping with the wait

favellio · 30/04/2013 09:47

Hi everyone,
Just marking my place.
Still in Italy, until Friday. Having an amazing time. Weather is glorious.
I'm very proud of myself after yesterday. It was over 30'c and I walked 3km from hotel to train station, sat on a hot, crowded dirty train for an hour, walked for 2hrs around the ruins of Herculaneum, then Walked up to the crater of mount Versuvious (which was 2km of very steep, gravel terrain!), then walked back down, back on train and walked back to hotel.
Glad I done it but feel like death today. I'm 29, 16w5d and have hypermobilty syndrome, effecting the joints, mainly in my lower back, hips and pelvis. Looks like I'm a likely candidate for SPD :-(

Had a brief catch up of the end of last thread/beginning of this one. Loving the advice of baby items coz I'm clueless!! I have a few items of maternity wear from H&M and mothercare, which is a good job coz my bump seems to have shot out since being in Italy (must be the olive oil!)

I might use the wifi to order some baby bits while I'm here in the bar :-) 16wk check up on 8th may (even though I'll be 18wks) and 20wk scan on 24th May. Baby is fluttering away right now, so must know I'm talking about him or her Smile

roxvox · 30/04/2013 10:06

Warlin I had some spotting a couple of weeks ago (on 2 seperate occasions) and when I asked the midwife she said that it was nothing to worry about, brown is old blood, I should only be concerned if it is red etc etc. I had been having some really bad stomach cramps as a result of constipation and she said that that was most probably the cause, but not to worry. She did also say that inserting anything could loosen the old blood (i.e. an internal examination or DTD etc).

favellio sounds as though you are having a lovely time! I am not sure I could have done all of that yesterday, so good on you! Sorry to hear you're a candidate for SPD though.

We've just got through our Down's Syndrome risk and it's 1 in 785. I know that's low risk, but is it good? I find it really frustrating that they don't do the nuchal fold here (our risk is based solely on 2 blood samples).

Wickedgirl · 30/04/2013 10:41

Good luck for today mon.......make sure you get plenty of rest

Soup....how long until you hear back from them with your results?

I hope everything is well for both of you. It is a very emotional time, I cried a lot after my amnio with DS.

BowlFullofJelly · 30/04/2013 10:55

Feel bad that no one can find the heartbeat with the iphone app - it worked really well for me last time (and am not skinny), but can't remember when I started using it, so maybe it's too early? Anyway, sorry for getting people's hopes up Blush.

Jealous of all of you with dogs! Those with cats, we have two and they never went anywhere near baby when he was in moses basket - although they did sleep in it when he wasn't in it Hmm. Also, my cats did not like children - weren't viscous with them, just used to hide or disappear outside whenever we had children around. Was a bit worried how they would react, but when we brought DS home, we put him on the floor in his car seat, they went and had a sniff, and then just accepted him. I think they must know when a child is yours, maybe the smell or something.

Good luck today MoN.

roxvox · 30/04/2013 11:15

Don't feel bad about the apps bowlfull! It was worth a try, but I didn't really expect to find anything. I might have another go later, but I would be quite (pleasantly) surprised if my phone could pick up the heartbeat of a tiny baby buried somewhere deep in my tummy!
