OrangeBlossom2 · 29/04/2013 07:28

Good luck crunchier.

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/04/2013 07:29

Crunchie even grrr auto correct.

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/04/2013 07:29

And good luck soup. Will be thinking of you.

Shirehobbit · 29/04/2013 07:37

jelly and rovox I'm just under 5'2" with a disproportionately short torso, so that would make sense that I have a bump at 16wks?

Good luck soup and crunchie

My 16wk appointment this afternoon. I do hope she has a doppler.

Smitten1981 · 29/04/2013 10:01

Soupqueen try not to worry too much, it will be fine and then it's over and done with.

Good luck with the new job crunchy.

After boasting of only gaining 1lb last week I weighed myself this morning and have whacked 5lbs on in a week!!! How can this be? I feel like a whale now - bleurgh.

Seems my body has finally caught up with the pregnancy, starting to feel it now!

Claphammama · 29/04/2013 10:02

good luck soup and crunchie! Let us know how it goes today!

roxvox · 29/04/2013 10:05

Good luck today Soup, Crunchie and ShireHobbit!

That could explain it, ShireHobbit, as the people who have mentioned it to me have always referred to my height, so perhaps shorter people show sooner/show more because of their being less space (like JellyCurls said). I woke up this morning and the 'bump' that I felt was coming on last night appears to have disappeared again! Must've been bloat or something Blush

Smitten I weigh myself every Saturday morning, and up until this Saturday my weight hadn't changed, but this time I had put on 3lbs which shocked me a bit, but I guess that if I didn't put any weight on up until now then maybe my body is now making up for it?!

2 weeks tomorrow until my 20 week scan. It can't come soon enough!

TheFalconsmistress · 29/04/2013 10:35

Morning,

Good luck soupqueen and crunchie

I called Maternity triage this morning who said not to worry re movements but she said have something really sugary and see if you get a movement I literally just got one typing this. I will still get the consultant to check tomorrow when i get my bloods done.

My Bump can look huge and then non existent when i lay down and i am 18+2 and im 5'7 but I think i have got used to my shape now and possibly dont notice it as much as others, like gaining or losing weight, just a thought??

Umlauf · 29/04/2013 10:40

Good luck today soup, crunchie and shirehobbit! Make sure you ask for one if she doesn't offer shirehobbit, no harm in asking.

Does anyone know how much of your midwife you realistically see? Only mine is awful and I want to change to the other one at the practise, but not speaking excellent Spanish its a massive kerfuffle if its only a few appointments, iykwim. I know another lady who had the same one, complained and changed, but she was Spanish so much easier for her. I can handle a few appointments, but if she's going to be there in the hospital and judging me for months afterwards I'm not sure i want to continue with her...

4 days until the big pink/blue reveal! So excited! I'm trying to keep baby stuff off Facebook so here is my only excitement outlet. I was a bit hurt that our Facebook announcement only got 20 something comments and so I am assuming people aren't interested as we are one of the first to have a baby, so don't want to go on about it!

How's the cold today clapham?

Flyer747 · 29/04/2013 10:47

Good luck today Soup and crunchie...xx

Warlin · 29/04/2013 11:10

Wow another new thread...I look away for a few days and you've talked your way into another thread!

DS has a V&D bug so my weekend has been mostly washing, cleaning up and cuddling :( He has now given it to my mum who is minding him today which isn't good. Praying I don't get it.

Is anyone else getting very sharp pains in the stomach/ abdoman area? I remember getting streching pains last times but these seem to be very sudden and more painful. It may be because I am carrying around DS a lot who is heavy but I'm starting to get a little concerned.

legallyblond · 29/04/2013 11:11

I have a really proper big bump! I'm 18+3... But I suppose there is two of everything in there (they each have their own placenta etc).... TBH, it is nice and "neat" - def a smart little bump and no plump! Only felt a could of tiny movements so far and nothing regular... With DD I didn't feel her until 26 weeks, but I had an anterior placenta. I don't think it's time to worry yet....

When is MoN's amnio?

Soup - good luck for yours x x

Natalieand · 29/04/2013 11:18

legallyblond · 29/04/2013 11:23

Warlin - I've not had pains (I did have them c early - around 8 weeks). I do get a sharp twinge if I get up quickly from lying down. I expect it's all totally normal but you could always call your midwife? The reassurance is nice!

cazboldy · 29/04/2013 11:32

thinking of you today Soup

and good luck also to crunchie and shirehobbit

Warlin - 2 of mine had that last week, and i was really worried about getting it too - so far so good touch wood, but everytime i feel i bit icky i think "oh no - here it comes" but not so far!....

Flyer747 · 29/04/2013 11:37

Warlin, yes I've had pains in fact got them now as I type! It's uncomfortable....I have a midwife appoint tomorrow so gonna ask her...how far are you? I'm 16+1

Wickedgirl · 29/04/2013 11:40

Falcon.......I had 2 days when I didn't feel any movement and was starting to feel upset. On day 3 I had a slow day at home and that evening felt little squirms again. I hope you start feeling them again....I drank lots of sweet juice and ate some biscuits and jelly sweets. Poor baby had a sugar overload!

Good luck soup and crunchie

Smitten.......I put on 3lb in the first 15 weeks and over the last week have out on another 2. I don't want a weight gain of 2lb a week!

roxvox · 29/04/2013 11:49

Bit of a random one for those looking to buy some baby wipes (in bulk) already; Boots baby wipes are selling at £7.00 (normally £12.99) for 12 packs of 64 wipes - Link

And if you wanted to be like that lady in the Asda advert (surrounded by packs of wipes) then buy 9 packs of 12 (108 packs in total) and use discount code BABY15 for £15 off. So you'll get 108 packs for £48 delivered (about 44p a pack).

TheFalconsmistress · 29/04/2013 12:26

Got a good few movements after eating a choc biscuit and half a bottle of irn bru wickedgirl sugar overload must do it hehe

roxvox have images of you surrounded by wipes :) good deals though and you will get your 10 points in the pound at boots too xx

Claphammama · 29/04/2013 12:27

Thanks for asking umlauf! Felt slightly better this morning so dragged myself to the office although I'm completely voiceless.

Don't get upset about the number of likes you had on Facebook! As you say, you are really young and most people probably don't relate to it just yet. I bet you would have 50 if you posted a photo from a crazy drunken party :-) People go through stages. I have the same in my office. I work for a very young and ambitious company - most people are in late 20s, early / mid 30s and don't have children yet, focusing on their careers. I'm really friendly with most of them, we go for lunch every day, and can laugh and talk about anything but noone asks me how I feel, if I'm getting ready for the baby, if I want to find out what sex it is etc... sometimes I find it upsetting and, when I fee sick, wish someone asked me how I was. But I know it's because they just don't get it yet. Your friends are probably in the same place. They will change soon trust me!

On the bump front, I'm 5'4'' and size 8, plus it's my DC2 so I have a definite bump that doesn't disappear at any time! The baby has nowhere to hide I guess :-)I can just about hide it depending on the clothes although not trying anymore.

I'm only 14+6 today so can't feel any movements yet. Can't wait though :-)

cherrycherry41 · 29/04/2013 12:32

You can never have enough wipes!!
Go easy on nappies though as you dont know how big/small your baby will be!

Good luck soup Thanks

To those gaining weight- I believe the little ones have a growth spurt in weeks 16-18 so i really would worry as long as you dont gain more than 4 stone by the end of this journey its all perfectly healthy weight gain! Smile

Warlin · 29/04/2013 13:13

flyer I'm 17.5 today. On the bump front, I am big. I def popped out earlier this time though I remember being big last time at this stage too. It is obvious but I was still surprised when the check out girl in M&S asked me was I having cravings when I bought a sandwich....! Cheeky cheeky!

Let me know what your midwife says...I think I will just wait and see if they get worse. I'm sure they are probably ligament, stretching pains.

Good luck today soup

And good luck tmw MoN

Shirehobbit · 29/04/2013 13:19

I'm waiting for my appointment - how nervous?! I wonder if this gets easier?

I've been very achy/sore in the last 48hrs or so too, so will feedback anything she says about that to me warlin

pinkbuttons · 29/04/2013 13:49

Good Luck today soup thinking of you,
Hope appt. has gone well shire and your not so worried.
Good luck with your new job today crunchie sure you'll do great.

umlauf dont be disheartened by people liking or commenting on fb I always think its up to you what you want to share and if people dont like it then thats their problem. I had similar feelings when I was pregnant with DS about announcing it and what not, we were the first of our friends to have children and people just didnt get it. 3 years on and our friends from uni and school are having kids as well as our new friends that have been made through having DS and my newsfeed is forever made up of gorgeous babies and status' about funny things children have done (as well as photos of crazy drunken parties from some of them) My point is just because people didnt comment doesnt mean theyre not excited for you. Sorry for ramble Smile

Definite bump here at 17+2, still not put on any weight but as DH said last night "well you certainly know its growing" its quite a nice reassurance, but also only 5" 6 and a size 8-10 normally. maybe the height thing has something in it.

Wickedgirl · 29/04/2013 14:08

I am 5'4 and normally a size 10. This is baby 4 and I clearly have no tummy muscles left at all as I have quite. A large baby bump already (I am 16+5). None of my others were small so I should have known that I would be big again and expecting a good sized baby at the end.

I'm glad the baby is moving again falcon......it is hard to not worry when you stop feeling those little wiggles isn't it?
