Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

We haven't bought anything yet, we want to wait until the 12 week scan has been done. I've knitted a pair of bootiees, which are rather cute but other than that zilch.
I've been looking at bits on local for sale sites etc.. which is great as I can see what sort of stuff people sell etc..

b0nker5Mum · 20/05/2013 09:02

The Emma's diary one didn't really have much in tbh (nothing memorable anyway) but I figured a freebie is a freebie... I will look into the sainsburys thing tho, thanks for that...

Anyone got any tips for a cough and cold....?

Holly1977 · 20/05/2013 10:52

Bonkers, I got a Vicks inhaler when I had a cold and some Olbas oil on a tissue in my pillow at night helped too. Also I did a daily sinus rinse using a Neti pot. And lemon and ginger tea with honey is good for sore throat and cough. All natural things which help ease the symptoms with no risk to bean.

I haven't bought or knitted anything yet and won't be doing until the 12 week scan. We did look at baby clothes in Matalan yesterday but that's it. We'll be going fully public then, can't bloody wait!

My colleague keeps pressuring me to have a big conflab about what I'm doing for maternity. Told her today I don't want to discuss anything in detail until I've had the scan. Hopefully she'll shut up about it for the next 3 weeks now. I'm only 9 weeks and a bit, I do wish she'd wind her neck in!

My tits are really getting on my nerves too. They've gone up 2 cup sizes in a week or 2 so are quite sore as well as being too bloody big! I like being naked in bed and at home generally so have to walk around holding them now! I'm hoping the growth will slow down now and with any luck they won't be as sore as a result.

5ammy, I don't think you're being selfish at all. Your DH is if anything. He doesn't want to change his plans so he can go with you but doesn't want you to go on your own either, that doesn't seem fair to me. Go for it, I would!

Got my scan date, it's 3 weeks on Friday, I'll be 12 weeks just about exactly. Bit worried about the whole drinking a pint of water thing. I've always had the bladder of a child (my brother's description) and am not at all convinced I can actually hold that much water in my body. And you just know they're not going to be running on time so I'll be sitting in the waiting room in agony. And I'm slightly worried I'll actually piss myself on the scanning table! Can those of you who have been there before set my mind at rest at all?!

Not going to have an early scan now. It's only just under 3 weeks to wait and I know I'm pregnant now, I feel pregnant, so don't feel like I need the reassurance any more.

Got my first craving yesterday! Just had to have a cold fizzy drink but not coke, didn't know what so went for bitter lemon in the end. Amazing. I also nearly killed DF for getting me the wrong kind of bacon (cheap) and had to go to the shop again just to get the right kind. To say I'm becoming obsessed with food is an understatement. But with booze and fags gone (along with my libido for the most part!) food is my main pleasure at the mo!

TakingTheStairs · 20/05/2013 11:04

Hi all,

Wow we have lots of 12 week scans this week. It's so exciting! I have mine on Wednesday too. DH and I told our parents at the weekend about the pregnancy, so that was great fun too.
B0nker5, congratulations on your engagement Flowers

Does anyone else get sore ribs when they sleep? If I sleep on my side, my ribs feel like they've been punched and bruised. It happens on both sides and is really sore! I've had it for weeks now and I'm getting a bit pissed off with it! If you had it, did you figure out a way to help with the pain?
I can sleep on my stomach for the moment, but that won't last for long

Morning all

Weljel of all of you with your scans soon. Mine is not while the 13th of june when I will be 12+2. Really scared about it and just want it over and done with so I can get on with growing a baby. At the moment I consider myself pregnant and thats all. classing it as a condition rather than 'I'm having a baby' if you know what I mean? Once I see the heart beat it will be real! Am going on my own for it. DP will be working and he's self employed as a builder and will hopefully just be finishing a big contract off so won't be able to have the day off and best friend who was going to come with is on holiday. Glad really cos regardless of results I bet I blub (and will also likely piddle my pants lol).

My boobs are my worst enemy too. I'm a big girl anyway (36 E/F usually) and gone to a 38G already! My nipples are so itchy I could scratch the bloody things off and even my newly purchased bra's without wires are driving me mad, but without anything on they ache more. Hoping they settle down and perhaps shrink a bit soon. So sore and hard and achey and itchy.

I havent bought anything but got given a few bits the other day. One was a pressie from a friend as an apology for being rude to me for the last few weeks (no idea why, she keeps her horses on our yard and hasn't spoken to me for the last 5 weeks) and some babygro's and vests of a friend.

They are sooooo tiny I cant imagine having a newborn again lol.

mumoftwoboysS · 20/05/2013 14:48

So many scans this week- I'm jealous too! I haven't even got a date for mine yet- but have booking in appointment with MW tomorrow- I know it's nothing great but at least for me its one step closer to getting a scan date!

my boobs don't feel too bad- now I'm wishing they hurt more as maybe it's a good sign! Gone up a bit but probably not even a B cup- no fair Hmm

I don't like bitching but really quite peeved at the moment. I told my mum when I was about 6 weeks that I was pregnant- it was really emotional for me and I was almost crying and she didn't even give me a hug! She didn't seem THAT excited for me! I know it's baby no.3 but come on, surely every baby is a blessing and a wonderful thing?? On the other hand my MIL was sooo excited and over the moon. I have an ongoing issue that I am resenting my mum for not being the type of doting hands on grandma that I'd wished for my kids where as MIL is wonderful and SO hands on. I can't help feeling resentful. Problem is my mum lives just down the road, MIL lives on the other side of the world! I really do just feel like moving over there sometimes!!!

In the last week I haven't had one text or phonecall from my mum to ask me how I am, for all she knows I could have had a mc!

sorry for the rant, just really want to tell her all this stuff but I can't. I'm spineless when it comes to telling her how I feel and our family don't 'talk' about feelings and stuff like that. MY DH's family have a row, talk straight then move on -so much healthier.

Good luck on all your scans!

rylea · 20/05/2013 14:49

Hi all, I had my scan last Wednesday (little bit early as I have a heart problem) and I?m due the 02/12, as soon as I lay down I started crying as I was so convinced something was gone wrong! Afterward myself and other half sat staring at the photo for hours whilst waiting for the doctor to see me! Good luck to everyone

I?ve tried putting myself on the list but can?t seem to!

FluffyDucky · 20/05/2013 15:25

My boobs stopped doing anything for a while & they seem to be making up for it now! For some reason my left one is bigger than my right, & the right one is itchy at the top!
I keep scratching my tummy in my sleep, I have a small scratch scab on my bikini area & woke up with scratch marks on my tummy. More bio oil needed more often I think!

My hubby & I are doing a picture a month (was meant to be every week but we forgot..) I def look fatter in yesterdays one. Blah.

LadyMedea · 20/05/2013 15:27

Mildred, make peace with your other half and go to Greece, I just got back and the weather is great.

I'm also a 12 week scanner this Thursday. 8am, thought it would save the queuing. Totally terrified that there won't be a baby, or they'll be a non viable baby. Was going to go and buy my second set of new bras today but then thought I should wait until after the scan just in case. Confused

On the boob front, despite doing a Jordan impression (think I'm roughly a 36g now) I woke up today feeling like they belong to me again, which is a big leap forward. Hope the boobs improve for the rest of you ladies.

Dasie · 20/05/2013 15:53

mum I'm in a similar position with my mum. MIL is very excited as its her first grandchild and wants to know every little detail, in detail. My mum however has yet to say something poitive to me about the pregnancy. You just can't help but feel disappointed by your own flesh and blood sometimes!!

I had my scan this morning. It was my second scan and each one has moved my EDD forward. They have put my EDD as 30 November today. Hope you all don't mind if I stay in the December thread with you though Grin

QuietNinjaTardis · 20/05/2013 15:59

My sickness seems to have eased up slightly though still feel exhausted but not constantly fighting the urge to vom which makes me feel a bit more human. My boobs have got a bit bigger and so have my "mittles" according to ds! As I'm barely an a cup I haven't got any new bras. Think ill look for something after the scan. Where can I get measured for non under wired hopefully padded maternity bras? Think I went to mothercare with ds but didn't need a new bra til quite a bit later on with him.

2Labradors · 20/05/2013 16:28

dasie glad your scan went well today. I've been given a few different dates too, 1st midwife wrongly worked out my estimated due date to be 30 nov but 2nd midwife (same appointment) worked it out to be the same as I did, 2nd dec. will get definite date on Thursday's 12 week scan.

I'm properly in maternity trousers now, the bobble trick is no longer working on this growing/bloated tum. Can still wear normal tops although I did buy quite a few in size 14 for a baggier look.

I won quite a few maternity items on eBay at the weekend as I've struggled to find clothes (I have short leg). I did get some from new look too, their online range seems ok, waiting for that to be delivered too.

2Labradors · 20/05/2013 16:29

That post makes it sound like I have one short leg. I meant I have short legs Grin

Gooseysgirl · 20/05/2013 17:52

Thankfully all was fine at my dating scan - baby was waving Smile I declined the nuchal scan as we're already having it done privately with harmony test results this coming Friday. I measured a few days later but sticking with my own EDD for time being. Unfortunately DH missed the scan as he was at home with a v high temp and nasty viral symptoms which he almost certainly caught from DD... we had a midnight visit to A&E with her thanks to NHS direct, with suspected hand foot & mouth, but turned out to be viral... It's been a FUN 24hrs in our house!!!!

MultipleMama · 20/05/2013 18:23

My dating scan is tomorrow morning. Excited but nervous! Twin1 has low AF and at a higher risk. I'm desperate for some good news tomorrow.

Baked a cake to surprise DF that's twins again tomorrow. Wishing for a good day.

I'm still bf but so far no sore boobs and they've only gone up one size thankfully (34F)

Good luck everyone with your upcoming scan :)

MildredH · 20/05/2013 19:15

Wish it was me jetting off to Greece- 'twas 5ammy..

I'm getting one night away in the Cotswolds in a few weeks.. Glam eh? Grin

MildredH · 20/05/2013 19:16

Ps- glad your scan went well Dasie.. I'm hoping for my date to come fwd a few days just to psychologically think its Nov rather than Dec.. ( silly I know!).

yogafan · 20/05/2013 19:40

Congrats all those who've had exciting scans! I've got to wait until next Thursday -I look about 5 months preg already so I'm sure lots of people have guessed already but thank goodness no one has asked me directly. Seeing my mum tomorrow and am going to tell her (hopefully she'll tell me to take it easy and look after DD while I sit on the sofa...)

MildredH · 20/05/2013 20:07

Me too Yogafan- although I think mine is largely bloat and constipation!

The ward Clark at work today came up and said- " Mildred, are you expecting? It's just your shape... "
Sheesh kebabs! Good job she's correct, dangerous question to go asking I'd have thought though!

yogafan · 20/05/2013 20:48

Yes! I don't think I'd ever dare to ask if someone's pregnant! My tum is obviously just bloat (and snickers ice cream) as how big are our babes now? Fg size?! Certainly not large enough to warrant the bulgebi'ce got...

yogafan · 20/05/2013 20:51

Meant to say size of a fig! And bulge, not bulgebi'ce (?!)

violetbean · 20/05/2013 20:57

So exciting about all the scans! Mine's Thursday afternoon. Holly, my midwife said I don't have to have a full bladder for the scan, hope she's right! Certainly it doesn't say anything about it on the scan booking letter.

I was a bridesmaid on Sat and squeezed into the dress (luckily it had a lace-up back) but quite a few people commented on how huge my boobs are and a couple of people came up to congratulate me on being preggers (assume they checked with one of my close friends first!) which was pretty weird. The photos look quite nice although a couple made me wince (tubby tummy, hips, bum and thighs) - think I need to sort out a new pregnant body image in my head and stop thinking all the flab is bad, otherwise might drive myself crazy over the next 6 months or so!

Thinking about you ladies, hope scans go well.

clare8allthepies · 20/05/2013 21:26

Hi everyone, have been keeping up with you all but not gotten around to posting for ages. Had my 12 week scan this morning, didn't realise how worried I had been until afterwards when I couldn't stop grinning!
My due dates the 27th of November now, please don't kick me out! Grin
starting to feel really excited now, shame about the 27 and a bit weeks to wait!

Ganetgob · 20/05/2013 21:54

It's lovely to hear all the scan stories. I've still got over 2 weeks to wait. Boo!

Sorry Mildred, I nearly packed you off to Greece for the weekend! I should read posts more carefully. The Cotswolds sounds glam enough though! Im going nowhere until the end of August, which is an awfully long way away!

Ganetgob · 20/05/2013 21:55

And sorry to 5ammy too! Have you decided what you are going to do about Greece?
