Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
weechops · 17/05/2013 20:49

Wow I've missed so many posts. You lot can talk! :)

I'm suffering through a migraine just now :( usually only codeine takes the edge off, but im trying to make do with paracetamol. Not very well though.

But good news - I finally have a scan date yay. I'm booking in next Thursday at 11 weeks and scan 2 weeks later at 13 weeks. Feel relieved I'll finally get to see a midwife!

Gooseysgirl · 17/05/2013 21:44

I used a layer of bio oil followed by a layer of Vaseline derma care, didn't get any stretch marks but my mum reckons its genetic cos she never got any in three pregnancies... Who knows... Anyway ordered two big bottles of bio oil today, they were BOGOF on Boots website! There are often good deals to be had on eBay too. Anyone know how early SPD can set in, I only got it v slightly towards end of last pregnancy but I've had pain in my tailbone all evening eeek

FluffyDucky · 17/05/2013 21:57

Aurora don't worry about it. You have a few years before you need to think about it!
Our family have a lot of winter bdays, mil on xmas eve, me & my dad early Jan etc.. Mil always celebrates bday seperate to xmas (mostly because as a child she had to have them together) it's normally a family meal.

NomDeClavier · 18/05/2013 07:56

We will do birthday separate but also as we're Carholic we'll pick a summer saints day. DS's is 4 days after his birthday so they'll both have 3 celebrations but 2 together.

izchaz · 18/05/2013 11:17

Hi all, just thought I'd pop my head in. Am due 26th Dec with first child (my mum is beside herself that I've been so inconsiderate as to screw up xmas by being fertile). Not much to add at this point, other than that I'm desperate for this pregnancy to stick, as have had two early mcs in the past year. Fingers and toes and legs and arms crossed for everyone.

abcdemma · 18/05/2013 11:42

Fingers crossed for you too! The birthday-Christmas thing is slightly worrying but since I'm due at the start of December it's not too close as my birthday is January and its never been a problem.
Gonna nip to adsa though at some point for some stretch mark cream, can't hurt to try!
First sober night out tonight though! Not told the girls I'm going with yet (waiting for scan) so think I'm gonna drive and use that as a cover up... Eeek!

PistachioTruffle · 18/05/2013 14:24

My DH has a december birthday, and our anniversary and several other family members have birthdays around Christmas. DH has always loved having a festive birthday, so I'm not too worried! I would prefer not to give birth on Christmas eve, day or boxing day though Grin

i've been using the Naked Mama stretchmark cream (Nice, easily absorbed but smells of playdoh, bleugh) and had a sample of the new cussons stretchmark cream, which smells yummy but is quite a bit more expensive for what looks like quite a small tub. Although i'm bloated, I haven't actually put on any weight yet, so i'm not sure if it's worth starting yet, but I will proceed anyway!

I'm thinking that if everything goes well at the dating scan, I may well start buying a few bits afterwards. I'm not particularly superstitious though.

Onesliceortwo · 18/05/2013 16:02

Phew! It's just the one! Good strong heartbeat and all looking positive. Amazingly I got my dates right and it really is due on Christmas Day!

Hope everyone is enjoying the same sun that we have in the South-West today!

PistachioTruffle · 18/05/2013 16:17

Ahh congratulations OneSlice! [Grin]

No sun here I'm afraid, just rain of biblical quantities!

Onesliceortwo · 18/05/2013 16:22

Thanks Pistachio - sorry to hear about the rain ..... take it easy when you're building the ark ...... heavy lifting is definitely a blue job!

weechops · 18/05/2013 16:24

Brilliant news oneslice :)

AuroraOrtiz · 18/05/2013 17:08

Great news one slice!

I guess the Christmas/birthday will just work itself out. I've probably got lots more things to worry about before then! (I worry a lot).

5ammy · 18/05/2013 17:11

My youngest brother was due on Christmas Day. My mum woke up in labour Xmas day morning - she did the whole presents thing and cooked Christmas dinner for the whole family. She made her husband go and check the car would start - it wouldn't - and they had to call out the AA to make sure it would start when necessary.

It got to 9pm and I remember my grandma (whose career was midwifery) saying, 'it's time you got off now love, I'll finish washing up'. Up until then none of the rest of us had realised she was in labour.

My brother was born at 0219 Boxing Day morning.

My cousin was due 14/12/2011, her daughter made a appearance on Christmas Day.

I'm due 13/12 and have always gone over :-/ merry Christmas baby!

AuroraOrtiz · 18/05/2013 17:55

Sammy, that is an amazing but mental story! Your mum sounds a very calm and collected lady!!

5ammy · 18/05/2013 18:32

Aurora - you'd think so!
He was her third and she says her easiest birth (apart from the end where the midwife said they wouldn't be able to get baby out, which was a) wrong and b) caused her to panic) - she actually says if she could have taken the gas and air with her she'd have happily gone and sat in the local pub for the duration of the labour and joined in the festivities!

I was 13 at the time and she also let me stay for the birth - so that was pretty special too. That was a good Christmas actually! Was a good end to a good day - so Christmas babies aren't all that bad.

I'm sure I'll be singing a different song if I end up in labour on Christmas Day! Especially as I've been all but told there's no way I'm allowed a home birth.

froubylou · 18/05/2013 18:42

Afternoon all.

My edd is christmas eve lol. Warned OH he wont be drinking much over christmas. His birthday is 18/12 and he thinks jesus (nickname for bean) is going to arrive then. Would be happy to oblige lol.

I'm the oldest out of 6 and always knew when my ma was in labour as she would stand and do a huuggee pile of ironing and make sure we all had clean hair. Dad a bit useless with us girls.

I have definately got a bump coming. Am 9 weeks tuesday. Been using sanctury body butter after baths but have dry skin anyway. And really itchy boobs. Which are ginourmous and very sore.

Cant wait for my scan. Letter came today and its on 13/06. Very excited but bloody petrified. Wasnt aware of mmc until bloody google told me.

Off to a horseshow tomorrow for day. OH taken over showing duties and dd who is 8 does quite a bit on the day but neithr can get our grey (white) pony clean enough for me so its down to me to bath him and am now knackered.com.

Cant wait for the promised energy burst that comes in the second trimsster lol.

FluffyDucky · 18/05/2013 19:29

Frouby it should be on it's way! I'm slowly starting to feel less drained everytime I do something! still can't face the ironing though...

Just had my steak, I got too impatient & took it out when it was still slightly pink but omg, it was soo good! ( I may have finished off hubbys too... Hmm )

froubylou · 18/05/2013 19:45

Must admit fluffy I do feel a bit better this weekend. We've been showing the last 3 weeks and I am actually still awake today lol. The first one I bathed horse, bathed myself and was drooling on sofa by 6pm.

Ive been good and had a ploughmans salad type thing for tea. But having a curry tomorrow so thought something healthy tonight would make up for it.

Though me and dd scoffing usual bgt chocolates!

Frenelder · 18/05/2013 19:54

Hi everyone not been here for a few weeks & wow the thread has grown!
Hope you're all doing good. My EDD is 10th Dec & have started to feel like I have some energy this week, which is great

I got some Sea Bands to help with my all day sickness & they are really good.
Has anybody else put much wait on?
I was a size 6 & weighed 7.6 now I'm an 8/10 & weigh 8.0. I'm worried I'm going to just keep growing & growing I'm only 11 weeks...

2Labradors · 18/05/2013 19:54

Hi everyone

harry I joined slimming world a few weeks ago. Just made a recipe I was given which is delicious, called curry loaf, tastes like onion bhaji.

It's not a weight loss plan like weight watchers (which I had to leave when I fell pregnant) it's healthy eating. You can choose to be weighed or not at class and they monitor your weight gain rather than encouraging a loss. The plan is altered slightly when pregnant or breast feeding. My midwife actually recommended it at the 1st meeting.

This Thursday I have the 12 week scan, at last! Will be 12 weeks 3 days by my dates. Really hoping everything is ok.

A colleague in work actually patted my tummy this week and said 'have you got something to tell us?', I was shocked and really taken back. Wish I'd said nothing now. I've only told the girls in my office and no one else at work knows, we haven't told our 2 children yet. I wouldn't dare do that to anyone.

I haven't got a bump but I know my waist has thickened a lot. Was still managing normal trousers & jeans up until last week with the bobble trick. Although dabbled with my maternity things on some days. I have bad IBS though which bloats me terribly, although I'm much better eating the slimming world recipes. This week I've had to wear maternity and its been so comfortable. Just maternity bottoms though, I've just bought baggies tops in size 14s which should last me for quite a while hopefully.

Ooo, also there was a sale on baby clothes in asda today too. I didn't go over and look (had DS with me) and we haven't looked or bought anything yet but I'm so looking forward to looking and buying soon. If everything's ok on Thursday I can officially start looking, how exciting!

Sorry, didn't mean to go on so much.

Hope everyone is well. How many of us have 12 week scans this week?
