Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

pea we did nct the first time round, and it was brilliant. The people we meet were an absolute life line, as we moved to the area when I was pregnant and we knew nobody.

I'm considering a refresher this time, as I've completely forgotten what to do with a baby!

Feeling really good today, which is perversely worrying. I totally hear you on the brain mush though Grin

Hello to everyone!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 18:13

Lol pea! Mind u, am sure my DH would call ME weepy and ridiculous right now! Teehee! Wink

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 12/05/2013 18:13

I plan to write to the Daily Mail forthwith to advise that we are flipping proof of the fact that fertility does not fall off a cliff at age 35.

It was believing that gubbins that got me in to this situation in the first place - oh and thinking that breast feeding combined with my great age practically must make me menopausal. Wrong!

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 12/05/2013 18:13

love My scan tomorrow at exactly 7 weeks is because of bleed at 5+4 after intercourse. The bleeding was dark and stopped as soon as it started, after I cleaned up it was just a bit of residual spotting and I'm sure it seemed like more than it was because of DPs er, stuff. I wasn't overly worried but they booked me in when I mentioned it to the GP while getting admitted for HG.

I am in Wales though and I am sure they are a bit less stretched than the English NHS trusts.

I'm quite worried now tho, scared they will tell me I'm less than 7 weeks when I know I ovulate early.

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 12/05/2013 18:17

Oh and I'm 29, 30 in July...not too old but I feel ancient :(

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 18:19

Gobbo several of my friends are 40+ & had healthy happy bubbas and my mum was 38 when she had me. She rolls her eyes when people say thats old to have kids. Grin

Yoni, you wont stop worrying until the scan, but from what I understand its not uncommon to bleed after sex, but its great they are checking u....fingers firmly crossed xxxx

SpecificDreamRabbit · 12/05/2013 18:22

I am very glad to see proof that fertility doesn't drop off a cliff! I am thirty, and I would like a couple more kids. Well, I say that now...! I always hoped that when I was thirty I'd have at least one kid, so with any luck I'll manage it - just! (I turn thirty-one in late Feb.)

Toby, a Mumsnet Jan 14 meetup would be ace, right? Hopefully we can sort something out when we're all a bit further along!

booktart, I have backache too! But it's sort of mid back, so I reckon I just slept funny. Mind you, I have rib pain too... Does being pregnant make you start to fall apart?! Grin

YoniIfYou, good luck for your scan tomorrow!

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 18:22

Sultanajo my DF made the mistake of saying to me whilst been emotional I was having a pregzilla moment I must admit " stop been ridiculous you should be happy you are pregnant"... To which I said "try baking a fucking human" and then tell me I should be happy... Kicked my shoes and went and sat in the hall window crying.. Totally rational!

Gobbo that post just cracked me up...

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 12/05/2013 18:26

sultana - your post makes me feel happy and scared rolled into one. dH wants 3 children! I'll have DC2 (all being well) at just over 36. I rely want a full year off thereafter with out being pregnant so that would mean trying at 37 .

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 12/05/2013 18:27

yoni - good luck tomorrow

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 18:32

Pea am sure we can all relate to that! Never does any harm and DH has actually seemed a little more understanding since my last meltdown over the supermarket!

Go for it Gobbo, not sure how many we want just yet, but I suspect two, so my spring chicken days may be gone but not gonna let that stop me if I can help it! Grin

SunnySentiments · 12/05/2013 18:36

I'm also 29 Yoni 30 in September!.

This will be our first and DH wants 4! I'm assured by my friends with children that DH may change his mind once faced with the reality of caring for a newborn! Grin

I'd love the meet up idea btw!

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 18:39

This is my last and DH's first. He's much younger than me so I've already told him if he wants any more he'll have to have them with someone else :o

MrsGSR · 12/05/2013 18:41

I'd like to do some NCT courses, we only moved here in December last year so I don't know many people, and they're mainly DH's male work colleges!

DH wants 4 kids! I think 3 is a good number, but we'll wait and see after the first!

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 12/05/2013 18:48

My first too sunny

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 18:54

Is it wrong to count down the minutes to 7pm so I can go to bed?

MrsGSR 4 wow you will be a busy lady... Ha ha

lovelilies · 12/05/2013 18:58

Love the idea of a meet up, but I'm out on a limb in North Yorkshire Sad
Will look into NCT classes, last time when I was a sprightly 24 I thought they were a bit :-/ but now I'm 32 a bit sad and love mini boden Grin

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 18:59

love we are from the same part of the world. I am in West Yorkshire...

enjoyingscience · 12/05/2013 19:17

yoni and sunny I'm 29 too (also 30 in July).

Going to be celebrating that particular birthday with a tonic water then!

Fuls · 12/05/2013 19:24

Hi ladies
Just took me a good 20mins to catch up on all the news. Good luck to all the ladies who are having scans in the next few days Flowers

I am also 35 and a scbu nurse and I am thinking of everything that can go wrong... Prem birth, downs, heart conditions arghhhhhh my brain needs to stop and I'm only 4+6 today!!

I've also got my gp appt tomorrow and even tho I've peed on millions of sticks I'm worried in case he says nope your not pregnant. Those sticks were wrongggggggg Blush

Halfbaked · 12/05/2013 19:38

Aarrgghh I feel old I am 37 and will be 38 by the time this one pops out!
It will almost definitely be the last one though (DC2)- assuming its not twins! I will apparently be classed as a geriatric mother, though I'm not sure if this is just my mate winding me up. Confused

I regret not doing NCT with the first, but we were about to move area so it wouldn't have been worth it. I checked the website but there are no refresher courses in my area yet, maybe they'll add some? It would be nice to have people to meet up with, although my SIL to be, is 12wks pregnant so we'll be meeting up - well I assume so, she doesn't know I'm pregnant yet!

lovelilies · 12/05/2013 20:16

fuls I'm a nurse too (female surgery & gynae - so see lots of mcs Sad makes you worry more)
When are you going to tell your manager/ sister? Been lookin at RCN guidance and they say you should tell straight away, for risk assessments etc, but I'd really rather keep it quiet for a while longer (dp is a doctor in same hosp!) Shock But don't want to put Pip (name for the baby as it's apparently size of an orange pip! if that sounds twee, I don't care!) at any risk...
anyone else told or not told their boss? plus I have a feeling she couldn't keep her trap shut and it'll spread like wildfire round gossip central Sad
Sorry for rambling!Grin

Foodylicious · 12/05/2013 20:21

pod i think it is the place my sister went to for a couple of extra scans last year, its where i was going to go on tuesday, I have wanted to ask my sister where she want but don't want her to know whats going on yet! annoying. So pod and love we are practically neighbours!, I am in west yorkshire too.
Oh and someone matiioned BABYBRAIN!!!!!!!!! I just forgot how to spell yorkshire for a minute, really took some thinking about, ahhhh!

Foodylicious · 12/05/2013 20:26

love i too am a nurse and really not wanting to tell work yet, its far too early and I am sooo not ready to tell incase anything happens, also not ready to deal with it being the only thing people talk to me about, ever.
have decided I know what i am meant to do/not do (no lifting, careful with infections etc)so just going to do that and keep my moth shut for now. Don't know how long before I will tell though as work in dementia and they can fight quite alot, mostly with each other, but then with us when we intervene.
fuls what are your thoughts?

MTBMummy · 12/05/2013 20:27

I'll be 35 by the time this one arrives, and I was considered old when I had DD at 31! So glad to see there are others of a similarl age on here.

I won't be doing NCT, our local village runs a great ante natal group, so I'll go along to that, but to be honest I'm going to struggle to do much time time round as I leave home at 6am and typically I'm not back until 7pm, and anything DP and I need to attend together will need a baby sitter arranged for DD.

I'm actually so annoyed that my mid wife only works 1 half day a week, I may deal directly with my hospital's maternity unit, which I ended up having to do last time as she kept forgetting to book in scans, tests and even my induction when I went overdue.

Hope everyone has had a nice relaxing weekend. I'm wondering how much longer I have to stay up before I can sneak off to bed, without looking to pathetic.
