Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

Sultanajo what about fresh cranberry juice with lots of ice? Also lemon and ginger tea or fresh ginger on its own in hot water or ginger biscuits can help to ease sickness. Hope yo have been able to keep something down.

Mummy thanks for the info on requested c-section. Will look into that.

Extra glad to hear you sound a more positive. I will keep everything crossed too. You may have just had a late ovulation.

5+4 today and 16 days and counting to 8 weeks. Will feel better at 8 weeks and if scans ok i can get back to the gym. Got my first small bout of queasiness yesterday. But not sure if it was in my head. At the moment just feel bloated and big. Also boobs are getting more tender. I thought I had escaped the early growing gigantic boobs. Well think that's about to change. Normally a size 32F but they are starting to get bigger. There really is no need for them to get bigger and particularly at this early stage FFS!! DF is loving it (boob man) even if he can't really get a good handful as very sensitive. Preying they don't get ridiculously enormous! Sad

How are you ladies doing today? Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend. For the ladies feeling really ill, sending you all my best wishes.

LittlePeaPod · 11/05/2013 07:37

tip for those with really bad sicknesss forgot to mention my SIL (18 weeks pregnant) suffered from really bad sickness in first trimester. She has recommended sickness wrist bands from Boots. She says it doesn't completely go but it makes a huge difference.

Sultanajo · 11/05/2013 08:35

Thanks very much ladies for the drink suggestions - will get a variety today and see what happens....

Pod I am currently wearing sea bands, which leave huge indents in your wrists but its worth it for a bit of relief. The first day I used them they were great and really took the edge off. The following day they did nothing whatsoever, but I tried them again last night in desperation and they kicked in again, although have taken them off this morning as once I was up felt terrible again.

You guys cracked me up with the farting! Hilarious and soooo true! Feel so sexy right now!

chocoloulou33 · 11/05/2013 08:45

Morning ladies, hope all those feeling sick feel better soon. I'm only getting slight nausea occasionally so can't complain. Sure it started at about 6 weeks last time. Am 5+5 2day & just getting thru each week seems to be taking forever. My docs appointment went well yesterday, got maternity pack to fill out with the bounty pack bits too. Got to wait to see if I get an early scan but doesn't look likely. Doc has requested it though x

Sultanajo · 11/05/2013 08:55

choco glad your doc appointment went well. Fingers crossed you get your early scan! Xx

MissMedusa · 11/05/2013 09:04

extra do you have any idea when you ovulated? My cycles are pretty wonky and I always have a short luteal phase. If I were to calculate my dates going by my LMP I'd be off by at least 4 days this cycle. Normally I ovulate even later between day 21-23 which would put any calculations off by by more than a week.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point. Ovulating later than you thought could be a perfectly normal explanation for the discrepancy. Would that match up with your SWI dates? I had a very similar experience last time but unfortunately I knew exactly when I ovulated and when the last time we SWI so the calculation couldn't have been off for me.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 11/05/2013 09:05

Hope you get your early scan, choco!

Good morning, everyone! I can't believe I've been awake since seven... My partner's alarm woke me up, but usually I can get back to sleep right away... not so much this morning!

What's everyone up to today? I get to wait in for delivery of my new washing machine. Actually, it is kind of exciting, arf.

BookTart · 11/05/2013 09:20

Morning everyone! Hope everyone's okay today. I'm off shopping with a friend in London today, so I need to get my skates on.

I'm being (potentially) crazy again today. I just don't feel pregnant at all. I've got no symptoms whatsoever, and today I just feel different than I did yesterday. I'm only 5 weeks today, so I know it is just a case of sitting it out but I think I might actually go a bit bonkers by the end of all this! My friend will give me a slap later on this morning I'm sure :)

Hope everyone has lovely plans for today.

MrsAVB · 11/05/2013 09:28

Morning everyone!
missmakes- sending lots of love your way and as others have said, here is the place to say whatever you feel and we are here to support. A lot of us have been through mc's and feel your heartache.
Baby on board badges are FREE?! Yay to more free stuff when you're preggers!
Re. drinks. I have always loved a cup of tea (we have special giant sized mugs), love Starbucks etc and thought that I'd really struggle giving up caffeine. I cut down hugely when we were ttc which helped, but now I don't really fancy it at all which is good. I am drinking mainly peppermint tea, decaf earl grey, lots of water and very weak squash, either orange and mango, or my new favourite - I really fancied elderflower cordial, but found some lemon and elderflower (weight watchers brand) which was much much cheaper. Did someone somewhere post about decaf chai? And if so where did you get it? Or did my stupid pregnancy brain imagine it? Hmm
I am struggling with DH not understanding how crappy I'm feeling. He's being nice and everything but just doesn't seem to get how tired I am, how I am totally off certain foods and how vommy I feel. Eg. last nights chicken burgers and chips, which would normally be greeted with huge enthusiasm as I don't normally cook stuff like that were scoffed at as he's had burgers the last two nights when he's been out with friends. And he was "too tired" to come out last night - so I have to admit I pulled the "tired? YOU'RE tired? I'M growing a HUMAN in me!" line Blush.
Am going to take it easy this weekend...have no major plans and need to recharge. And buy DH's birthday present. Any good present ideas ladies?
Have a good day y'all
X

nomoreminibreaks · 11/05/2013 09:45

Morning ladies!

Can I join please? I'm 6 weeks today but hadn't joined before as I'm still struggling to believe I'm really pregnant for some reason - despite the sickness...

DC2 is due 4th Jan (DS will be 2y 9m by then).

I think we had some kind of immaculate conception as we were having a 'break' last month to allow me to lose some weight and I was also hoping to avoid a Christmas baby (I know - really not important!). DH also did his back in around ov time too, so the only time we DTD was over a week after ov .

Anyway, we're both thrilled obviously but I'm just hoping to get the next 6 weeks out of the way so we can get that scan and I can start to feel a bit brighter and dig out my maternity clothes Smile

MrsAVB · 11/05/2013 09:47

Welcome and congrats mini! Xxx

lovelilies · 11/05/2013 09:59

Out of interest, how many of you who already have dc have told them? my dd is 7 and has been asking for a sibling since she could speak, and I'm dying to tell her!! But dp wants to wait, her birthday is in June, should we tell her then? Don't know if u can wait that long though! I'll be about 8 weeks then...

Sultanajo · 11/05/2013 10:01

nomoremini huge congratulations!!!

MrsAVB perhaps we should get our DHs together as they sound really similar! He said to me the other day "you cant avoid supermarkets for the next 8 months"! I flipped out a tad and said hopefully I will start to feel better by the 2nd trimester so its only the next few weeks and could he try to understand that I am not deliberately trying to be difficult and would he rather I vommed in the meat aisle at Tesco! Since then he is being a little bit better, but I really felt like crying in frustration....its not as though I just dont want to go to supermarkets right now! Angry

Sorry ladies! Not sure where that came from.... Rant over!

Hope you all have lovely weekends - some London retail therapy sounds fab!Smile

Frizz1986 · 11/05/2013 10:07

So i know this is a stupid question but being a first timer I have to ask.
All those people suffering from morning sickness can you help.....
Woke up at 2am today and felt awful. You know that feeling when you just have a really icky stomach, i kinda felt sick but also just yucky.
Is that what morning sickness feels like? Or was I just feeling a bit yuk?
I have had bouts of feeling a bit sick over the past week or so but nothing much, but last night took me by surprise.
Had to sit up in bed and take lots of deep breaths to try and feel a bit better.

On another note I told my folks and sister last night (via phone as i live far away) Parents didnt see it coming, i expect as it is so soon since we got married, and my sister cried. I assumed it was happy tears, but am now worried it wasnt as I didnt check and I know she wants a 2nd child and cant afford one so maybe there is some background I dont know about. Hoping it was happy tears!
Just the in laws to tell (seems unfair for my folks to know and not his) but i am letting dh decide as the mother in law will freak out (in a good way)

Sultanajo · 11/05/2013 10:15

Hey Frizz, the way I would describe how I am feeling is an almost constant hangover. Feeling knackered combined with that "am I gonna vom or do I just need to eat" feeling and not being able to find anything I want to eat, but I do get some temporary relief once I have eaten something for the most part. I also feel as though anything I have eaten is still stuck in my throat - very odd feeling....

Hope that helps....lots of sitting up and deep breathing for me last night too and heartburn...

missmakesstuff · 11/05/2013 10:28

Hi all, just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their thoughts etc, I had an evening of heavyish bleeding and it has continued today, mostly whilst I was asleep so have to be thankful for that. I am resigned to it now but also can't stop thinking i might be surprised on Monday, I know it is likely to be bad news now though, as I feel like I am having a period and have cramps through paracetamol. annoyingly still have sickness and painful boobs. is shite.
DH is ok but quiet, just had to phone my mum and tell her we were going to give them good news tonight, she said she had a feeling and dreamt last night I was pregnant. she is coming with me on Monday and we have a plan for getting through the next couple of days before my inlaws go home without them finding out, they are catholic, quite old and I can't bear telling them and then untelling them. They would fuss, so just going to tell them I am sick with a tummy bug and then go with mum for the scan monday morning.
Just not sure what to expect now really. gutted as have so much on a work - teacher in practical subject so exam time is still going for us and marking etc that all has to be done for 2 weeks time. I hadn't told anyone in my department, not sure how I am going to manage if i feel like this for the next couple of weeks.

just wanted to say though good luck to you all, hopefully I am the only unlucky one on the thread, thoughts with any of you having worries at this time. I am just grateful it happened now and not much later, it obviously wasn't meant to be this time and I am positive about trying again in a little while.

MrsAVB · 11/05/2013 10:31

frizz, I am a firsttimer too so no idea what is normal. I've been waking up in the night feeling similarly to you though, and as sultana said, quite similarly to that hungover, sensitive to motion thing. I definitely have an icky stomach feeling, similar to the feeling you get when your stomach is strained from vomming a lot when you have a sickness bug, although I've only actually vommed once. Eating does help, but there is virtually nothing that I fancy to eat and thinking about, looking at, or smelling the "wrong" foods makes it feel worse. I walk a lot and use public transport as in london and definitely feel worse when in motion. Showering seems to be the worst thing though so I am going to lie around like a whale in my own dirt all weekend Am going to get me some of those seasickness wristbands methinks!

MrsAVB · 11/05/2013 10:32

X posted missmakes... Lots of love to you. You are being incredibly strong and brave. Best of luck for getting through this weekend with the in-laws and beyond, will be thinking of you xxx

Sultanajo · 11/05/2013 10:35

missmakes my heart goes out to you. As u say u never know what could happen Monday, but I would do the same thing as u and have contingency plans....

Thats really great your mum will be with u. I was so glad my mum came with me for my mmc scan - it really made all the difference!

xxx

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 11/05/2013 10:50

missmakes - ((big hugs)). I was so sorry to read your last few posts

I hope you can get a little bit if rest over the weekend and Monday's scan helps a little bit x x

Frizz1986 · 11/05/2013 11:10

Flowers missmakes.
Thank you for being so brave and sharing your experiences. Things like this can happen to any one of us and to see someone being strong and looking positively towards the future is of great importance.
I hope that you get good news on Monday instead of what you are expecting.
We will all be thinking of you x

SpecificDreamRabbit · 11/05/2013 11:54

Welcome, mini!

So sorry, missmakes Sad I hope it's good news on Monday. Will also be thinking of you.

LittleBallOfFur · 11/05/2013 13:09

Missmakes :( I have had some bleeding and cramps too the last few days and also have a scan on Monday. Will be thinking of you x

kelli10 · 11/05/2013 13:16

I hope you both get good news on Monday missmakes and littleballoffur.

I just popped in to say good luck to you all. My January baby (2012) is a bouncing toddler now and the lovely ladies that I met on our AN thread have become fast friends who have supported each other through thick and thin.

Look after each other ladies and may your January babies be as totally awesome and beautiful as ours!!!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/05/2013 13:34

missmakes I am really really crossing everything that Monday brings good news, and will be thinking of you. Look after yourself.

mini hello and welcome!

MrsAvB it was me with the decaff chai - in Holland Barrett. Fucking expensive though! Not on the penny sale either. It's nice - brew for about 5 mins, add milk/sugar to taste (not like a frothy chai latte, as 'thin', but still v nice).

fur will be thinking of you too, I hope it's nothing. Monday had better be a good day!

Boobs stopped hurting today (DH is doing a little dance of joy as he thinks he might now get to play with my massive funbags!) and driving lesson went much better - maybe the birdbrain has gone down a bit!
