My steriliser set turned up today! Very quick. Have ordered the book too but new from amazon, didnt think about used ones being cheaper! Baby brain!!

badguider · 03/04/2013 19:36

Stupid question but what even is a steriliser? Do you not just soak stuff in Milton after washing?
(Really ignorant here as most people I know ebf but due to work i will need to express at about 3mo at the latest even if bf goes well)

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 03/04/2013 20:02

I had my 16 week appointment today (at 15+6) and the midwife said it was too early to listen to the heartbeat Sad

I don't have another midwife appointment until 28 weeks! Do you think if I called next week they might see me just to let me listen? I thought it might be standard now until I saw all your comments. I was so disappointed.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 03/04/2013 20:05

badguider you can get electric sterilisers and the like, they use steam so no soaking and nice and quick. I had an electric one last time, I bf but pumped now and again so used to sterilise the pump and bottles from that.

frogchops · 03/04/2013 20:40

That's rubbish!! I heard the heartbeat loud and clear at mine yesterday at 15+4!!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 03/04/2013 20:46

I thought so! I'm so bad at standing up for myself and didn't even question it. I'm going to call, come on, be assertive red. I'd been excited about hearing it all week.

JoCheshire10 · 03/04/2013 21:01

Good luck red, hope they let you

BinarySolo · 03/04/2013 21:39

Thanks juniper! Only just got back on here.

PurplePoppySeed · 03/04/2013 22:17

Great news frog Smile

Another one with 16 week appointment this week too, can't wait!

Back on dresses - bad glad it isn't just me that couldn't post that link.. the Hobbs dress is a black and white stretchy thing, stupid website, DH says its good "urban pregnancy camouflage" Lexy - I have that exact phase 8 dress too, bad-it's not as bad on the cleavage as you expect, I've got pretty huge noorks and it's ok without a vest, I'd find it too hot with extra layers.

Also glad im not the only one with nothing baby related yet :)

Kittenkatzen · 03/04/2013 22:18

red that's rubbish, definitely have a winge about that. Or make puppy eyes st the sonographer at your 20wk scan! If you're in Sussex I'll pop round with my angel sounds if you like...just used it for the first time, it's ace Grin

andadietcoke · 04/04/2013 07:46

I have the same awesome mw as runningbear and at my 16w appt she found one twin and then gave up looking for the one with the anterior placenta after her batteries went in the Doppler. Didn't weigh me, in and out in 8 minutes. No more mw appts for me Grin
Would have been more stressed but I had a 16w scan the day before so knew they were okay!

Really tempted by the angel sounds Doppler as it was so easy for her to find twin 1, but she didn't really give twin 2 a chance, and as I've said before I'd be a mess if I couldn't find one of them. Might do some googling... Wink

Kittenkatzen · 04/04/2013 08:14

It's £20 on amazon dietcoke Smile

flipflump · 04/04/2013 08:19

Red, definitely ask again. It's so worth it and reassuring. The 12 week scan was such a long time ago and the 20 week is still a few weeks off.

Has anyone had their 20 week yet? What was it like? Are the pictures amazing compared to 12 week? Anyone else nervous? I'm terrified I'm so attached to this little bean and they'll find something wrong.

ION I bought a great pair of jeans from Asda of all places. They are perfect for just now and stay up, they may become annoying as I expand. They are fairly slim leg, wouldnt go as far as calling them skinny, but I'm yet to find a pair of proper skinny jeans. The band is only at the front round to your hips, so from the back they look like normal jeans. Very comfy to boot!

fl0b0t · 04/04/2013 11:29

Jammy sterling review there! I enjoyed it! Hope kimjayne does too!
badguider it's not a very long book so maybe you can get someone to send you their copy when they've finished??
emma my skin (which has never been great) has also flared up this week (boo).Doing all I can to limit the damage! My back and chest also flared up, looks like I'll be wearing polo necks all summer to hide!

Got my 16wk appt next week as my midwife is only in on Weds (helpful) and I had a course yesterday at work so couldn't make that week, I'll be 17+1 at that appt.

Amused to find that I mostly only look pregnant in maternity clothes! In normal clothes I look like a chubby little teenager (pot belly!)

kimjayne · 04/04/2013 12:50

Cheers Fl0b0t - It will give me something to read on a few bus rides home from work and keep me entertained. Considering I only paid £1.80 I have no idea how slow the postage will be! ... fingers crossed it turns up before the baby :)
I am happy to send my copy onto Badguider if you struggle to grab a copy :)

weebarra · 04/04/2013 13:18

Had my 16 week appointment today (at 17+5) and all fine. Mentioned the itchy feet so she's sent some bloods off, as it's apparently one of the signs of slapped cheek and there's a lot of it about.
Heard the heartbeat which is v reassuring given that I'm not really feeling movement, but baby was moving about a lot so hard for her to check how fast it was.
MW has got another job though, working with pg teenagers - she's very thorough and good so my loss will be their gain. Another appt at 22 weeks so will have had 20 week scan!

JammyTummy · 04/04/2013 15:43

I don't get my 20 week scan till I'm 21 weeks... Hmmmph

Dorita75 · 04/04/2013 17:21

Have you contacted the surgery/hospital red? That sounds really out of order.

I picked up my Emma's diary mum to be pack today. Full of the usual advertising blurb but also some lovely samples of cocoa butter stretchmark lotion and nivea firming lotion, my body will LOVE them!

Thanks for Asda jeans tip flip I'll have a look at those next time I'm there...

weebarra · 04/04/2013 17:43

Me neither Jammy. MW phoned after my appointment today and cardiac scan is a week after my 20 (21) week scan so will see baby twice in a week. Kind of makes me wonder why they can't just do the cardiac scan at the same time.

SGJ · 04/04/2013 20:09

Stupid chubby fingers!! Anyway...
In jeans news though, I have 2 lovely pairs of skinny jeans from Mothercare, one black and one pea green, both £20 each, under the bump, elastic all the way around, comfiest things ever. Would definitely recommend and I think they do them in denim and electric blue as well. Hooray!
20 week scan is a week tomorrow (12th) - do I have a scan buddy??

SGJ · 04/04/2013 20:10

Oh, did the first half of that not post after all? Now I just look like I'm randomly ranting about having chubby fingers...

Kittenkatzen · 04/04/2013 20:18

Grin At your random chubby fingers SGJ!

Just to add to the jeans recs, I got some lovely soft over-bump skinnies for about £20 in H&M. I have them in grey but they had loads of colours (plan to pop back for the maroon at some point)

ION the dreaded itchy skin has returned - all over this time, argggh! Body butter not touching it, any suggestions??

Oh and I finally got brave enough to weigh myself yesterday - I've put on a little under half a stone so far at 17wks, which really surprised me (was convinced it would be closer to double that).

Hope everyone's having a nice evening. Chicken kievs in the oven for dinner - yum!

Creamtea1 · 04/04/2013 21:21

Kitten can I ask what your bmi was pre preg? I've put on twice as much as you :(

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 04/04/2013 21:24

I'm going to call the midwives tomorrow as I'm at home. Really hoping they'll give me another appointment, 28 weeks is forever away. I want to hear my little baby's little heartbeat! Oh and midwife called me this morning and I'm anaemic so will start iron tomorrow and hope that will stop me feeling like falling asleep constantly!

jennimoo · 04/04/2013 21:30

I've been super sleepy since stopped remembering my pregnacare tablets, could that be iron related? Probably illness and toddler related (potty training looks like it will have to be abandoned :( )
