Great news Frog, im also taking antibiotics for a uti...worried about getting thrush now as thats what happened last time i had to take them, you cant win can you!
I had a tens machine for my previous labour. It definately helped and i kept it on all the way through. Between that, pethadine, gas and air and back rubs as my labour was all in my back my first labour was good. I will be using it again this time, just need some new sticky pads for it.

SGJ · 13/04/2013 21:40

I used a tens machine and found it fantastic, but my DD was sort of halfway back to back and so contractions were down low in my back, where the tens machine is most effective. Kept using it up to 9cm then just got on with it for the rest, just a bit of gas and air!
I recommend it to everyone, simply because in the early stages you can feel like you're in control of the pain, before you get to the hospital, or before you're advanced enough for them to offer pain relief via drugs.

Not sure if that worked, took some doing!

frogchops · 13/04/2013 22:19

How far are you creamtea? Am comparing bumps! Lol. I'm worried that I'm bigger and I'm down the list at 17weeks!

Creamtea1 · 13/04/2013 22:22

Frog im 20 weeks on thurs - but bear in mind, I'm the one who is stressing as I've put on 17lbs already! so if the bump is not big then where's it all going Shock

Wincher · 13/04/2013 22:23

I've beennpainting today and have also overdone it - I ache all over and am stiff. Second coats to do tomorrow so hope I am ok after a night's sleep. Dh was looking after DS while I painted which is definitely a good division of labour!

frogchops · 14/04/2013 00:23

Cream tea its weird isn't it. I weighed myself naked today and I think since Xmas I've put on 9lb. But I've just checked with DP against ur pic and he agrees my bump is bigger but also higher up. But still 3 weeks behind. Really stressing I'm gona be huge! I'm struggling as it is!

SGJ · 14/04/2013 06:57

Ow ow ow, the child is doing Fight Club on my bowel and bladder. Worse pain than contractions, I swear.

CharlW1 · 14/04/2013 07:04

gorgeous bump Creamtea I have put ona fair bit - everyone says it doesn't look like I have but swear I am getting a double chin! The first place my weight gain goes to is my face unfortunately.

After a lovely holiday we returned yesterday and have no heating or hot water! I desperately need to colour my hair too but man came out yesteday and said we need a new part so earliest it will be done is Monday - just glad the weather is warming up!

SGJ · 14/04/2013 07:23

Oh and I only ever weigh myself naked and first thing in the morning. It's less traumatic that way! Just done that and it's 11lbs on for me. Weight wise, I'm about 3 weeks ahead of what I was with DD. Ah well, it'll come off. Just faffed about to get this online:
Bump at 20+3

Dorita75 · 14/04/2013 07:42

When I put something on FB about heartburn SDG all my friends who are mums put their thoughts and remedies on, gaviscon, peppermint gaviscon and milk were the top 3. I've not had it since tho so wonder if it was just the massive portion of fish and chips I had! We're away for a friend's birthday this wkend, walked up lots of steps up a church tower yesterday, boy my thighs are feeling it today!

I had a sneaky quarter glass of red wine too, feel massive guilt but really fancied a few sips. Somehow I managed to stay up until midnight, unheard of so far in this pregnancy, not sure if it was wine or sitting on couch in pub all evening that helped!

flipflump · 14/04/2013 07:43

Lovely bump photos, but I won't be putting one up, I look HUGE compared to you ladies! Time to lay off the toast for me.

Did you buy or hire your TENS? And where from? I'm really keen to get one, if it makes early labour more manageable that's got to be a good thing. Do you think it helped reserve your energy for the latter stages as early labour was more comfortable?

I'm loving that others are busy shopping and preparing too. Enjoying hearing about purchases. We're planning on ordering the pram after the scan next week. Has anyone else decided what they're going for?

SGJ · 14/04/2013 07:54

We hired a tens from Tesco, think it was about £25 for 2 weeks? May be more now. I officially had a quick labour - part induced as I was over due and they broke my waters at 6pm, had DD at 11.30pm, however I'd been having painful contractions from 2am - 7am where she was turning from sideways/back to back ready for labour, and the tens was so useful during that period that I could sleep for 7 minutes, have 1 minute of pain then go back to sleep!! After she'd shifted position the contractions were completely managed by tens and didn't hurt until about 9pm where I was probably 7 or 8cm. So yes, though it might not work for everyone, I think it's a very handy tool for self management and would be great if you have a long labour, as it takes the edge off and means you can get some sleep!

SGJ · 14/04/2013 07:58

We bought a mamas and papas pram with DD and within 6 months, sold it and bought a second hand Bugaboo off eBay! The M&P pram was lovely but had 2 handles and made steering difficult if you needed to take one hand off the pram (eg walking & answering phone, drinking, waving etc). Sounds silly that we didn't realise in the shop but you're just pushing up & down aisles at that point! Not really representative of everyday use!

frogchops · 14/04/2013 08:10

Omg SJG...that's a lovely bump but its made me feel huge! Arghhhhh I just don't understand!

kimjayne · 14/04/2013 08:48

Those bump pics are gorgeous. You both look fantastic. I might try out one later today too.
After saying we wouldn't buy any.furniture until after the 20 week scan we have totally given in. A few deals came up which we would be stupid to turn down.
For anyone on a budget we bought a cot bed and a changing unit from kiddicare yesterday. They have a HUGE new store in Aintree so we drive over to have a nosy. We got both pieces of furniture for under £240. Which seemed quite reasonable to me. Especially considering the cot/bed will last a good few years.
We've also bought two really cute solid pine toy boxes from a second hand shop and Im busy painting them and adding cushions to sit on top. Lastly (I promise) we've bought a solid oak rocking chair from a charity.shop! It was really cheap and needs some work but I love a bit of diy and giving old furniture new life. So the nursery is almost kitted out now. Just keeping everything crossed.for Tuesdays scan. Do I have any scan buddies out there?

LexyMa · 14/04/2013 08:51

I think my tum looks more like creamtea's than SJG's but not brave enough yo post a pic :)

However I have just weighed myself on bathroom scales and they say 65kg. Just looked at notes from booking appointment and it says 65kg then too (23.5 BMI). Mind you I was wearing clothes then, so that'll be the difference.

Lovely bumps ladies!

Good lord there's no way I'm sharing any pictures of my scary spread on here... Grin

kimjayne · 14/04/2013 09:02

Oh, I forgot to mention that kiddicare are having a big sale at the moment. xx

Fozziebearmum2b · 14/04/2013 09:30

Frog-I'm only 16 weeks so pretty much behind everyone and my bump is bigger than the pics too. I've also put on 9lbs (weighed myself before swimming yesterday and quickly regretted it). Decided I'm not going to worry about it, I think I'm still same size except for my bump Smile

Went shopping after swimming yesterday and think I did too much, lots of cafes were full so didnt get chance to sit down. Ended up with the mother of all headaches (bordering on a full on migraine). Was awful! Feel slightly better after drinking about 3 litres of water, some Paracetamol and 12 hours sleep.. Gonna take it easy today-definitely a lesson that I can't walk/exercise as much as I used to Hmm

Eeeknumber3 · 14/04/2013 10:17

You all have beautiful bumps and lovely tummies generally! I look rather flabby in comparison, so will not post a pic til it firms up a bit! I am huge but not erm solid! Went to jumble sale yesterday, love them, and got 10 like new babygros from boden, John lewis, Zara etc for 20p a piece and a tent like summer dress!

Creamtea1 · 14/04/2013 10:27

sjg that is a compact and lovely bump!
frog do not stress - I don't think size of bump is representative of size/amount of weight to lose - its more about how much you put on overall. So I bet your lbs are all in your bump whereas I've got lots of surplus of my 17lbs spread around my other bits Smile
With ds2 I put on 4 stone, was a bit bigger than this time. He was born in early may, I was left with 2.5 stone of that 4, and had lost all bar the last half stone of it by October ish - that was first month bf and then moved to formula.
So moral of the story is don't stress about bump size! Youre supposed to keep check of overall weight gain in those recommended ranges and it will be ok (note to self to take selfs advice! Wink)

jennimoo · 14/04/2013 10:39

Flip and frog I'm also twice as big as the bump pics posted, but haven't put that much weight on. Was just over normal bmi to start with though so shouldn't put too much on...
