Wonderful news for today as we welcome babycandy and little Charlotte and hoping that this thread sees little Alex and Evan home very soon.

How many more babies will this thread see?

Oh my goodness! Well thank goodness they acted quickly and all was well in the end. Congratulations sneezy, love the name Thanks. Enjoy your cuddles! :)

toobreathless · 13/04/2013 17:08

Congratulations sneezy and what a lovely, strong name. How much did he weigh?

Sorry to hear about your scary birth, glad you had a transfusion though I lost 1.5L with DD1 and had a Hb of 8.0, (they transfuse under 8) I felt terrible for weeks at that level. Be kind on yourself over the next few weeks, you will be in a high now but have been through a lot. Do nothing except snuggle that baby Grin

Mama1980 · 13/04/2013 17:25

Hoping empress has her baby now in the absence of news, have been thinking of her.

EmpressMatilda · 13/04/2013 17:26

Sorry for the lack of news but it's been a rather dramatic time here.

A big thankyou to all of you who offered support and advice while I was suffering those horrible contractions at home.
In the end this is what happened: I went in for my midwife appointment on Friday morning and the lady I got this time was great. She confirmed I was actually 4cms dilated even though my contractions weren't consistent enough to be considered established labour. I celebrated by promptly losing my waters. However, these were very bloodstained and there was also some concern about the baby's heartrate so I was put in an ambulance and sent to the hospital in Bath. Basically, my contractions never got a pattern going so I was put on synoticon as needed to get the baby out. Was pretty hard work and had epidural in the end. Our beautiful son Samuel was born last night. Totally smitten :-)

However, they were right to be worried. He had to be resuscitated there and then. He seemed to be ok after that but one of the midwives was unhappy so got a pediatrician to look at him. He has been in NICU ever since and they're rather worried about him as he's not able to circulate oxygen properly and needs more of it than he gets in air. Or they think so anyway...

It's all rather distressing as he is now in an incubator and we can't touch him, just look at him. And they currently have no idea why he has this problem or how it can be fixed.

Good luck to all of you who are currently in labour or looking after your newborns.

Mama1980 · 13/04/2013 17:26

and good luck cheese- hope you're hang lovely baby snuggles Grin

Mama1980 · 13/04/2013 17:27

Having not hang obviously! Typing with Alex on boob so only have one hand.

photochick · 13/04/2013 17:34

Sneezy congratulations! its good to know that baby is out safely x

Had a lovely lazy day and all the family have been round for tea and cake (good first day of maternity leave).

However, definitely feeling more uncomfortable now. I think the baby has dropped and (sorry if tmi) I constantly feel like I need to poo!

MrsSimkins · 13/04/2013 17:38

Wow empress and sneezy sounds like you've had a very stressful time. Congratulations on having your lovely boys though and I hope Henry and Samuel will be going home with you soon x

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/04/2013 17:39

Oh Empress :( What an eventful birth. I'm so sorry that he's poorly and hope he is in your arms very soon. Hope you're ok Thanks

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/04/2013 17:43

Oh photo I think my baby has dropped too - the lump identified as bottom seems much lower and I feel I have no capacity in my bladder any more. I keep thinking I'm desperate to pee but so little comes out! My bump keeps going hard and my back ache comes and goes. I got my nephew to start encouraging baby out saying Hurry up baby, we want to meet you!

JoRich77 · 13/04/2013 17:56

Hi all, so much going on on here- have been lurking and being too busy -lazy to post. Am 37w+ 4d so may be one of the last on here to pop.

So nice to hear about all the new arrivals and see the gorgeous pics on facebook.

I finish work on Monday and take my hat off to anyone who has worked past 38 weeks and commuted, I have been lucky in that I have been working from home for the last few weeks and so much easier.

Last week we made a big decision, and that was to have a Homebirth (or at least try for one). Told my family and they think I am a bit crazy doing this for first baby but I don't feel I have much option- only found out the local hospital has the decorators in last week so they have no rooms with pools available and I really want a water birth. So birthing pool is being delivered to home on Monday and Im going to see how far I can go at home. As hospital is only 5mins drive up the road if there are complications or I feel I need more drugs then we can decide to move to the hospital.

I just feel I will be more comfortable in my own environment listening to my natal hynotheraphy CDs and can have candles etc. But now hearing Sneezy and Empress' scary birth stories am starting to think twice.
Anyone else on here having a Homebirth?

wishfulthinking1 · 13/04/2013 18:17

Oh empress - what a worrying time. I'm glad Samuel is here- keep us posted on how he's getting on.

X

usernamegoeshere · 13/04/2013 18:27

empress I'm sorry to see you having such a hard time and hope they sort the little one out soon, must be terrifying especially after such a hard birth.

sneezy glad you are ok! And hope taking it easy like others have said.

I feel sick :( but my Eurax has taken the edge off my itching, I think a few days without scratching and keeping cool and the rash will probably heal

40+1

MrsSimkins · 13/04/2013 18:54

jorich my friend had a home birth for her first and she lives miles and miles from the nearest hospital and she had an absolute dream delivery said she felt so calm and relaxed being at home. If that's what you want then I say go for it!
user my PUPPP rash had almost completely gone now I took piriton and smothered myself with calamine lotion I also found putting cold flannels on the rash really helped when I was really at the end if my tether and wanting to cry!

JoRich77 · 13/04/2013 18:59

Sorry that was a bit of a mememe post. Sneezy hope you make a quick recovering keep snuggling little Henry. Empress I hope Samuel recovers quickly, must be very worrying for you.

Trish am hoping you and Hunter get to go home together very soon

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/04/2013 19:03

jo I can't have a home birth because of my taking codiene...but I'd love one! If you're assessed as low risk there's no reason why it shouldn't go smoothly. How far is it to the hospital?

Erm, I think my waters just broke! :)

wishfulthinking1 · 13/04/2013 19:40

faith - eeeek- looks like tonight's the night!!

not for me- still nothing- am doing some vigorous bouncing on the ball- hoping it helps!
X

usernamegoeshere · 13/04/2013 19:54

Oooh faith how exciting its starting! Good luck!

toobreathless · 13/04/2013 19:56

Goodness me lots to catch up on!

Empress glad to hear that Samuel is here but sorry to hear he is poorly. Hope everything settles down, he gets out of NICU and you can all go home soon.

Trish great to hear that Hunter is doing so well! You must be so excited at the thought of all going home. What does he weigh now?

Mama so glad to hear you & your family are all doing so well.

faith how exciting! I did wonder after we thought about coffee and I decided to have a baby whether the same thing would happen if we re arranged Grin

cheese thinking of you & hoping you are snuggling a baby soon.

We are well. We spent three days going daily to the hospital for blood tests and daily weigh ins after C lost 11% of her birth weight at day 3. My milk has been slow to come in after such a speedy delivery, it took a whole for my body to register it had had a baby! We had a few days of formula top ups and C is now totally breast fed Grin

Off shopping for baby grows tomorrow, I was do convinced I was having a whooper we only have 4 in newborn & C can get through all 4 in a day alternating between sicking & pooing everywhere!

Empress - xpost earlier.
huge Congratulations GrinThanks and welcome to the world Samuel. I'm so sorry things aren't going smoothly, I know how awful it is to just stand helplessly by and watch as they fight, when you'd do anything in the world to take the pain away from them and swap places. Remember he is in the best place and the drs are truly amazing. I'm thinking of you all and have fingers and toes crossed that he is better soon and snuggled up in your arms xxx

Mama1980 · 13/04/2013 20:42

Faith- how exciting Grin just told my dd your water broke and she squealed, we are all following everyones progress here! Good luck, thinking of you xxx

KelleStar · 13/04/2013 20:43

Empress glad to hear of Samuel's arrival. Fingers crossed they figure it all out and he is out of NICU and in your arms soon.

Sneezy also glad Henry is here and well!

I've been out walking in the rain with DD and DH came home with lots of irregular contractions that fade away and come back. No plug, no waters gone, just discomfort. Ah well only 39+2.

bunnygirl80 · 13/04/2013 20:59

empress and sneezy congratulations on your new arrivals. Sorry things were complicated for both of you. Hope you get to hold Samuel soon empress

faith hope things go smoothly for you, sounds like baby can't be too far away

jo I think if your only a couple of minutes from the hospital then there's no harm in trying for a home birth. You can just look at it as trying to labour at home for as long as possible, and staying there if it feels right at the time.

DD is now three weeks old...it seems strange so many of you are still pg Grin. I forget that I had one of the earlier due dates and she was two weeks early! She's having her three week growth spurt at the moment, and has gone from one night feed to three. Can't really complain about having had a couple of weeks of good sleep though. She's now 6lb14oz, which is a good weight gain for her, but seems tiny when three of my friends have had 9lbers in the last ten days.

MrsSimkins · 13/04/2013 21:33

I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I'm having mild period type cramps! They were every 20mins but now more like 12-14 mins apart and last about 30 seconds. No waters, no back ache and really not very painful but I'm really hoping this is the start!
