Wonderful news for today as we welcome babycandy and little Charlotte and hoping that this thread sees little Alex and Evan home very soon.

How many more babies will this thread see?

Empress and sneezy, sorry to hear you both had dramatic arrivals but I hope all goes a bit better now. Empress I hope they work out what's going on and as mama says, you're in the best hands.

JoRich, I think we're due date buddies and I'm also hoping for a home birth. We're also five minutes from the hospital and low risk so it seemed a logical decision but empress and sneezy's stories do make me slightly nervous. The only thing for me is that if I was going to have a hospital birth then we would go for the midwife led birthing unit and they say the transfer time to the delivery suite or a c-section surgery ward will be not much quicker as from home in an ambulance. So I'm going to trust that the midwives will intervene quickly if they get any sense of things not going smoothly and get us in nice and fast. And fingers crossed we get the relaxed birth we'd hope for.

Trish and mama it's so great to hear how Alex and hunter are getting on. It amazing how much fight and character there is even when they're so little Smile

Congratulations sneezy and empress! Wishing you both a speedy recovery.

empress, I'm sorry to hear that things haven't gone smoothly but as mama and bext have said Samuel is in the best possible hands. I hope he is out of NICU and snuggling with you very soon.

trish, it sounds like Hunter is doing great. Keeping everything crossed that you'll be home soon.

faith and mrsS it sounds like things are starting, hoping this is the start of quick and easy labours for you.

Nothing happening here. Went for a long walk today and then did lots of ball bouncing but nothing to report and bump is still high so no signs of engaging yet.

39 + 3 and very envious of those with their little bundles of joy already here.

enjay0811 · 14/04/2013 00:00

jo and bext I'm planning for a homebirth but this is dc3, after having 2 straight forward pregnancies and births at a birth centre. Really looking forward to it but my birth/yoga ball burst today! Think the kids or cat have been playing with it too Hmm

Congrats on the new arrivals! Hope Samuel gets btr soon empress

Goodness - I completely forgot how tiring BFing is at first. I just spent two
hours cluster feeding Henry. It was very difficult to get positioning right as I have two canulas in one hand and one in another, plus I don't want his weight on my CS incision. It was blooming hard work!

Now he is flat out in his fish tank and I'm wife awake - as scary as it has been, I've had a lovely day, the highlight of which was Jenny meeting Henry. We didn't tell her he had arrived so she waked into my
Hospital room and shouted 'my baby!' when she saw him.

Trishstar · 14/04/2013 05:28

Aaaaw congrats Sneezy and empress!

SCBU/NICU can be scary when you don't know what or why about any issues your little one has! But they will be doing everything in their power to get answers xxx

Subject change sorry!

I haven't been outdoors since Hunter was born (apart from once for an hour), does he need a snowsuit/pramsuit or is layering with vest/gro/jacket/blanket ok with weather at the mo? Xxx

tattooedapril87 · 14/04/2013 06:28

hi trish

does this mean he may be home soon?! can't believe its still not our due date!!

with regards to clothes/layering... one thing to consider also is his size...
when we took the twins home it was freezing so we had premature size snow/pram suits, but because the babes were so small it still swamped (if you did the zip up they fit well inside just the body part) so we ended up layering with a million blankets as you couldnt tell where their arms were in the suits to safely buckle them in.
is he still quite small?xx

Mama1980 · 14/04/2013 08:14

Hi trish great news you maybe home soon Smile how big is hunter now? Is he having any temperature regulation issues? When I ought Alex me at 5lbs a couple of weeks ago it was cold he was in two snow/pram suits so 5 layers in total! As recommended by nicu as he got used to the temp variation. I took him out yesterday and he just wore a vest, baby grow, and had a blanket over him as it was sunny. I would ask the nurses tbh as you actually leave but be prepared for everything give our weather! X

Thinking of you empress any news? X

Sneezy- ah yes the joy of cluster feeding Smile remember to drink lots of water. How are you feeling? X

Alex has now definately decided that sleep is not for him! Smile he maybe slept for 4 hours in total last night Luckily he doesn't scream or anything he is just awake. Beautiful boy, can't believe I had a hand in making anything so beautiful - I'm totally in love.

JaquelineHyde · 14/04/2013 09:01

Congratulations Sneezy and Empress Smile

Empress I hope you have managed to get some rest. Samuel is in the best possible place and will be fighting fit before you know it.

Sneezy Your last post just made me cry a little bit 'my baby' what a brilliant reaction. Smile

Trish I would say if in doubt layers, layers, layers. The weather is so changeable at the moment, just give yourself lots of options and you can't go wrong. Fingers crossed you will be off out asap.

Mama Alex sounds just perfect, what a trooper. How are you doing in your rehab?

No labour news here, absolutley nothing happening at all. Lots of aching in my back and lower abdomen but it is happening so regularly now I'm not even bothering to get excited that it may be something. Bored and fed up and back to school runs tomorrow that will just kill me Sad

Trishstar · 14/04/2013 09:27

Thanks Bec and Vic! Will see if we can get a pramsuit too xxx do have a lovely one but it's 0-3m!!! He will drown in it!

Still persevering with the 4 hour feeds! Sometimes he will have the whole feed a few times in a row and there's the odd time he won't! Keep reminding myself he's a baby not a controlled science experiment so he doesn't know the time and he eats til he's had enough!!! We don't eat the exact same times and amounts every time do we?!! Xx

Bec he doesn't have any temp issues xxxx

birdbrain17 · 14/04/2013 11:33

congrats to new arrivals and hope things go okay for those who have broken waters etc Grin

still nothing here, I'm now 1 week over only difference is I now can't sleep at night anymore as just can't get comfortable bit of a shame as till now I'd been managing to sleep quite well but now I'm exhausted. After being a moody brat all of last week I'm starting to feel a bit more cheerful now as even though I didn't want an induction originally I don't care anymore that they will induce this week I just want to have my baby!!!!I'm still making DH answer all phone calls though as I might be in a better mood but it still makes me really cross when people phone asking for news...if there was any news we would tell them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wishful how you doing?still hanging around with me?!

MrsSimkins · 14/04/2013 11:33

So my contractions (at least I think they're contractions!) are now every 5 mins and have been that way since about 6am they're still not overly painful and only in my tummy. I'm starting to think I've got my hopes up for no reason and that this isn't 'it' Sad

Trishstar · 14/04/2013 11:48

Docs said he can go when he's put on weight cos he's gone back down to 6lb13oz (birth weight 6lb11.5oz) xx

they will weigh him on Tuesday and see if he's gained xxxo

Trishstar · 14/04/2013 11:49

Oh and the little monkey will not have all his feeds from his tommee tippee bottles he prefers the NUK teats xx so guess we are going shopping when we go home!!! Xxx

LikeCandy · 14/04/2013 11:52

sneezy and empress congratulations to you both on your dramatic arrivals!

trish we bought this snowsuit in n/b size after the 0-3m one we had could have fit 5 of BabyCandy in! She's around 8lb now, so petite newborn may do the job for you?

BabyCandy now 3w+1. Seeing health visitor again tomorrow for a weigh in as she hasn't got back to her birth weight yet. She feeds so well (13 to 15 times a day, 20 mins at a time - I'm assuming this is good!?) and has lots of wet/dirty nappies, yet put on no weight day 9-16. I have everything crossed she's gained plenty by the time she's next on the scales - I hate worrying about her!

Enjoy your Sunday all!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 14/04/2013 13:03

Hello all!

Baby has arrived! Went to ante-natal assessment last night when waters gushed. Sent home in early labour with plan for induction at 9am. Felt like things were progressing at 3am but was only 1cm dilated. Nearly went home but they decided to give me the pessary there and then. Labour went into full speed! They thought it was a reaction to the pessary but after an hour and a half I insisted I needed to push - they checked and I was fully dilated! Shock so despite my wonderful birth plan to have all the drugs I did it on paracetamol and dihydrocodiene. I didn't even get to gas and air! Did have a tear and got gas and air whilst stitched up!
She is dinky - 5lb 4oz but so far all healthy. Abigail Faith born 7.22am :) I am exhausted but elated.

photochick · 14/04/2013 13:10

fabulous faith! And love the names Smile.

usernamegoeshere · 14/04/2013 13:28

congratulations Faith

toobreathless · 14/04/2013 13:54

Yay faith what a beautiful name & huge congratulations! Hope you aren't too sore from the stitches. 5 lb 4 is tiny but perfect Grin

trish so glad to hear good news about Hunter, he is almost exactly the same weight as C at present (who is 6 lb 15) I think you have shown remarkable strength over the last few weeks, Hunter is a very lucky boy.

We have had the shopping trip from hell. Having decided we didn't need a double buggy I think today has changed out minds. We struggled with two of us. Did manage to get newborn babygrows & size 1 nappies. Don't laugh ladies, I was do convinced I was having a giant I didn't have anything to fit my 7 lb baby when she came out!

Hey all haven't posted on here in what seems like months but still keeping up with everyone's posts and been quite active on the Facebook group, enjoying all the pics for sure! Well it's due date today but no sign of baby as far as I'm aware!! Already had to fight back the tears of people constantly ringing or texting asking where he is etc wish I'd never told anyone now!
Oh well off for a walk in a min see If I can encourage him along.
Good luck and hugs to those still waiting and those with gorgeous babies already Smile x

40 AT LAST!!!

wishfulthinking1 · 14/04/2013 15:04

Huge congratulations faith

birdbrain - I'm still here and there's still nothing happening- at all! I too am struggling to sleep and am just generally quite cranky! Booked in for another sweep on Tuesday and I guess we'll talk induction dates then. DH has to go back to work tomorrow!! (He's a teacher- will take a weeks paternity from day little one arrives. Does anyone know what time of day hospitals normally induce people and is it more likely they'll induce me on a Friday (week day) rather than wait until I'm term+14 - which would be a Sunday.

mrssimkin - hoping something happens for you soon. If the pains are regular then they sound like contractions- but no idea really!

I'm feeling less frustrated now, but still haven't sorted things out with my mum, so generally just a bit teary and sad. Family just say I'm being hormonal- which surprisingly doesn't help!!!!

Mama1980 · 14/04/2013 15:18

Congratulations faith Grin Thanks
Help! Slightly panicking here, ds1 has broken out in spots everywhere, pretty sure its chicken pox. Have called the hospital in a panic who said with Alex being so little and so prem I need to be totally vigilant and if he shows any signs bring him straight in. Ds1 is fine not at all ill so far just spotty.
My poor baby's ds1 wants to cuddle, Alex won't be put down.....just aargh!

num3onway · 14/04/2013 16:06

Congratulations to all on the new arrivals!
Someone else posted saying how weird it seems to them already having there baby when some of you aren't even due for weeks! I have to agree with this! Crazy to think I could have still been pregnant now, I would be 41+2! Instead I have dd who is now 12 days old and feels like she has been part of the family forever!
X

num3onway · 14/04/2013 16:14

Do we have a postnatal group yet ladies? If so can someone please point it out to me!

toobreathless · 14/04/2013 16:49

I know num3 with DD1 I was still pregnant at 41 + 2.

I don't think we do have a PN group yet but it would be nice to start one I think. Clearly we would still be popping in here and cheering everyone else on but it would be nice to have somewhere we coukd waffle on about the babies a bit more too.

OP posts:
num3onway · 14/04/2013 17:00

I would start one and link to it but I don't know how!

Dd has slept all day aside from waking for feeds four hourly!
