Wonderful news for today as we welcome babycandy and little Charlotte and hoping that this thread sees little Alex and Evan home very soon.

How many more babies will this thread see?

Contractions have started. Hoping this means I'll avoid the drip. I'd forgotten how much they hurt!

Mama1980 · 12/04/2013 19:25

Congratulations emmie! Grin Thanksand welcome to the world Ava.
Good luck sneezy!
Hope things are moving empress Smile
Photo up on fb xxx

Teapig · 12/04/2013 20:40

Congratulations emmie!

sneezy really glad things have started for you.

Thinking of you empress and hoping baby is here very soon.

trish so good to hear how well Hunter is doing. Hope you have him home very soon.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 12/04/2013 20:50

Wow it's all go!

Good luck sneezy, glad it seems like things are moving naturally.

Trish I'm so glad Hunter is progressing, I hope you're home soon.

Mama thanks for the photo! What a gorgeous boy :)

Congratulations to Emmie!

I'm hoping no news is good news for Empress and you're naking real progress with the labour now.

I'm not sure I'm too far off. I've been having intense lower back ache and did just have an hour with quite regular contractions but they've eased since I had a bath so suspect body is still just practising!

usernamegoeshere · 12/04/2013 21:20

Just a quick stupid question... Are contractions always like bad period pains? Or can it be like a cramp in lower back that sort of moves around like a tight band and you feel like your pelvis might split open?

Been getting the latter between every 7-15 mins lasting about 1 min each time for a few hours now, not sure if baby is just pressing a nerve instead though? Pain seems much sharper than I would expect and as its my due date I guess there is 97% chance it's not contractions!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 12/04/2013 21:27

this might help you user. The back pain is more likely to be labour than front period like pains. Are they getting stronger over time?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 12/04/2013 21:29

Oh I like this one too with the reference box!

usernamegoeshere · 12/04/2013 21:45

Aw thank you faith! They are both really useful, they are definitely getting stronger but still quite spaced out and irratic, they definitely are matching big movements from baby though, so still possible baby is pressing on something today! Might try my birth ball for a bit!

Trishstar · 13/04/2013 04:41

Congrats Emmie!! Xx

Hunter pulled his NG tube out this morning (tho has only been using it minimally as he's been having my EBM by bottle mostly) so he's got no choice but bottle! Also at 2am when he was due 60ml/his 3 hourly amount he decided he wanted 80ml!! So he's decided to move himself to 4 hourly feeds x trying to tell us something I think!!! XxxGrin

So proud of him! The first bit was slowly slowly but he's done so well since! Xxxx

milktraylady · 13/04/2013 05:32

Hi everyone, not posted in a while, but I've just caught up with all the news. It's all go on this thread!

Glad I'm not the only one wondering 'is this labour'!
I went to the loo at 3.30am, but noticed extra leaking after, put thin maternity pad on & more liquid & a bit pink. So I guess that's the waters gone!

Just been having period pain type pain since, every 20 mins or so.

Should I try to sleep/ call midwife/ put tens on?
Am a bit confused! (Due date is Monday 15th)

Thanks Smile

wishfulthinking1 · 13/04/2013 05:33

trish - fab news on Hunter!

sneezy - good luck - looking forward to seeing an update!

emmy - big congratulations- what a beautiful name!

empress - what news?

everyone else - big wave and hugs to you all!

Now 40+6, and not a sign of anything at all! I can't sleep again . I had a fall out with my mum yesterday which has really upset me. Basically she drinks too much - always has- but I guess I expected her to get a bit better when the baby is here. Anyway, mum and dad came round last night and she was clearly pissed- it's just not on, and I told her so, which she didn't take we'll. But at the end of the day, the baby is the most important thing, and I can't have her holding the baby / looking after the baby when she can't even walk in a sodding straight line!

Sorry to rant- it's just like there's a bloody big elephant in the room, but now the baby is imminent I'm forced to address is and it's just so upsetting. But I'll be fine. DH is great- I'm very lucky in a million different ways.

Lets hope more of us see some baby action today!!
X

wishfulthinking1 · 13/04/2013 05:35

Ooooh milktray - how exciting!

I think it's worth letting midwife know that waters have gone as I think they like to keep half an eye on things after that.

All the advice I've read about TENs is to get it on as soon as possible for it to be most effective- so I say give it a go!

Good luck!
X

milktraylady · 13/04/2013 05:40

Thanks wishful, I shall phone the ward to ask them what to do!

Omg I can't believe it's started.
Feeling very anticipatory (I know that's not a word! But I've had a rubbish pregnancy & just want this all over with now!)

milktraylady · 13/04/2013 05:53

There's no answer!
Drinking tea & cat cuddling Smile

leluella · 13/04/2013 07:02

Morning all,

Sympathies to all of those waiting for babies to turn up, it's so frustrating. I feel in limbo and feel a but useless. I feel fine, no pains etc and don't really know what to do with myself. Yesterday I did 1 hr yoga, 1 hr ball bouncing and squats and did a 7 km walk and still nothing, not even a twinge! I dreamt last night that my waters broke in my sleep and was disappointed to wake up a 5 am this morning to find they hadn't! Think I'm slowly going mad!

Congrats to emmie and hope things are progressing for empress.

40+4

Fluffeh · 13/04/2013 07:15

Good luck sneezy and milktray!

mama lovely photo of Alex, he's getting big now!

wishful my dads a drinker, always has been. I can sympathise and hope your mum manages to abstain enough to build a relationship with her grandchild.

trish fab news on hunter! I hope your both home soon :).

My feet are huge lol I bought ugg style boots 2 sizes up from my usual size and still can't get th comfortable. I spend as much time as possible with my feet up but it makes no difference and scarily my mw said feet can swell even more just after the birth :O.

milktraylady · 13/04/2013 07:22

Thanks Fluffeh Smile
So far it just feels like period cramps, that's great!
Will put on Tens machine after having a shower.
It's a beautiful day here today, a good omen??

Get this- we were supposed to be holding a "contraction curry night" tonight at our house! Looks like that's cancelled & everyone will know why! So much for me not wanting to tell people until we are home from hospital. Funny how it goes eh?Wink

milktraylady · 13/04/2013 07:55

Oops it seems the hospital isn't direct dial for the labour ward extension.
Just spoke to midwife!
Silly me!

Mama1980 · 13/04/2013 08:37

Trish- great news on hunter! Grin Such a clever boy, the feeding bit not the tube pulling Smile how are you doing? Any idea when you will be home?
Thinking of everyone else too.
Suns shining here so may take Alex out for the first time, dd is googling places we can go. I wasps worried he novelty would wear of but both she as ds1 are absolutely besotted-Alex makes the slightest noise and they both come running with nappies, toys..... I swear he smiled the other day too. Always hard to tell but the hv said such extremely prem babies can develop things in different orders he is older than his body is ready for given all the external stimulus. Probably wishful thinking but still exciting lol.

num3onway · 13/04/2013 09:39

Wow busy on here this morning! Babies popping up everywhere! Hope everyone has a nice easy labour.
Sun is shining here so think I will get us all put either for a walk or in the garden!
Dd is on day 11 now and take 3 to 4 oz of formula every 3-4 hours. How are the other ff babies doing?

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 13/04/2013 10:01

Induction day today! On the monitor right now before I have the VE then it's pessary time! ShockBlushSad Was more upset about leaving ds this morning, he must sense what is going on as e has been really clingy the last few days....

Off to catch up on thread now, this must be the fastest moving thread ever!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/04/2013 11:07

Good luck Toastie! I'm sure your DS just picked up on your jitters. I hope it all goes smoothly :)

Trishstar · 13/04/2013 11:26

Thanks Bec! So proud of him! I could have been discharged ages ago but have begged and pleaded to stay in to be with him and at least give BF a good start here! I've seen outside once since March 31st! Think it will be weird when I do go!!!

Docs say he should be out next week (early next week if he carries on well) xxxx

usernamegoeshere · 13/04/2013 15:38

Good luck toastie

Hoping no news means empress is snuggling her lil baby by now!

My pains went away again, still having occasional ones but nowhere near regular, pharmacist gave me a lotion for my itchy rash today, promised him I will visit gp Monday if its not gone by then though, the glamours of pregnancy :(

Oh wants bump to hold out for induction now... He is finding the uncertainty too stressful bless him.

40+1

SneezySnatcher · 13/04/2013 17:00

Ended up with a crash section under GA. Was having a lovely, peaceful waterbirth and had got to 7cm before suffering from a placental abruption.

The midwife was amazing, got me straight out of the water and the room filled with people quickly. Rushed right down to theatre and knocked out with gas. I lost 1.5 litres of blood so have had a transfusion.

Henry William was born at 10.30 this morning. He is gorgeous and seems to have taken to breastfeeding like a pro. I didn't get to see him until almost three as he needed some air and monitoring for infection.

I feel surprisingly great despite having the complete opposite of the birth I wanted. I am so grateful to the docs and MWs - they said another minute or so and the outcome would have been very different.
