Wonderful news for today as we welcome babycandy and little Charlotte and hoping that this thread sees little Alex and Evan home very soon.

How many more babies will this thread see?

40+1 today. Had a sweep yesterday and woke up to my waters going during the night. Not had any contractions yet so off for a walk to try and get things progressing.
Good luck Empress !

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 11/04/2013 10:31

Catching up with you all, seems like their is lots of action going on at the moment! Am in theFoetal Health unit at the hospital after having a breakdown this morning where I was convinced something was wrong with baby due to reduced movements. On ctg right now, and heart rate etc is good. Have never been so scared this morning Sad

Good luck to you all who are on the road to meeting your babies.... I have 47 hours til my induction ShockShockShockShock

Trishstar · 11/04/2013 10:32

Tea please get it checked! Xxxx

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/04/2013 10:36

Oh cheese how scary for you but glad you're being checked out and are feeling reassured. Not long to go now!

Good luck Emmie!

enjay0811 · 11/04/2013 10:49

Good luck to those who think things might be starting!! And to those who have worries, niggles and pains. It won't be long for all of us now!

Well whoever said about emotions, I've sat and cried at Jeremy Kyle this mornin, ffs!! Really need to get a grip! Blush

Jst sat around waiting for any sign of baby arriving here...bored, tired and hungry most of the time! Baby so low it's painful to walk anywhere n bump so big, difficult to drive. Fx I don't go overdue as will b climbing the walls!

enjay0811 · 11/04/2013 11:45

Ooh! Just had a show! Contractions kicked off within a few hrs with dd's so fx'd Grin

aufaniae · 11/04/2013 12:59

Hey edinfirst! nothing happening here either. I'm torn between being relieved as the new house still isn't ready and a few more days to get things sorted would be great, and being fed up with being uncomfortable and not sleeping and wanting to meet my little girl! I hope labour kicks off for you soon :)

enjay ooh exciting, Fx here for you too!

cheese I hope all is ok, nice to know you'll meet your baby soon :)

jaqueline congratulations on reaching 39 weeks! We may yet end up in hospital together!

usernamegoeshere · 11/04/2013 13:05

Ohhhh good luck, empress, enjay & emmie all sounds promising!

tea you should go get checked, better than worrying and it's not like there's much else useful we can do at 9 months (not that watching tv all day, whilst crying and eating chocolate isn't constructive ofc!)

I get panicky if bump goes 20 mins without moving then spend most of time she is moving worrying that my uterus is about to explode... Never happy! Still no signs of arriving, pretty sure I was closer 3 weeks ago

EmpressMatilda · 11/04/2013 13:18

Seems like there's a lot going on for everyone today!

Well, I am still at home. Contractions were really starting to slow down and ease off which got me worried. But then I was hit by a wave of tiredness and went to bed. I've been lying there, sleeping on my left side, managing to sleep between contractions and I am now progressing again with the contractions coming about 5 minutes apart and lasting about 35 seconds. So that was weird. The advice says keep moving to keep it progressing but mine only progresses when I go to bed! Also, and this sounds weird I'm sure, it still doesn't hurt as much as I expected! It's like a bad period pain with backacke. I have to breathe pretty hard and usually swear but it's not like it's incapacitating. Perhaps that comes later?!

Then again I have taken paracetamol so maybe they took the edge off.

I am finding it really hard to judge what to do though. DH went off to work as normal this morning as we weren't sure how long it would all take.I'm thinking I should ask him to come back now as it's at least an hour for him to drive home.

aufaniae · 11/04/2013 13:43

EmpressMatilda the level of pain can vary widely from person to person. You may be a lucky one!

In your shoes I'd call the midwives for advice, that's what they're there for :)

I'd probably be calling Dh home just in case!

alwayshopeful13 · 11/04/2013 14:28

Oooh exciting sounds like things are starting to happen for a few people - good luck!!

I'm almost 39 weeks but already v uncomfortable and just want baby out so I can meet the little one who's been kicking around inside me for so long. When I hit 39 weeks I'm going to kick off intensive efforts to get things moving. The idea of going beyond due date is pretty unbearable!

Teapig · 11/04/2013 15:37

Thanks for the advice ladies. I called antenatal triage and explained that I feel baby only when laying down with a cold drink and not otherwise. They think this is ok as long as I continue to feel her when laying down with a drink. I'll keep a close eye on it and will go in if anything changes.

empress sounds like things are happening, I hope you're snuggling baby very soon.

KelleStar · 11/04/2013 16:24

empress ooh I do hope things are kicking off for you. My pains were in my lower back and thighs with DD. They ramped up when I stood up though and went from being mild to pretty wild quite quickly, but I was in bed for about 2 hours before I decided to move about a bit, drowsing through most of it. Not sure what to expect this time around as get similar pains that then fade to nothing.

DD is at Granny's today, so I've had a day of lazing about the house with my feet up and not getting anxious. Been knitting another baby blanket, drinking plenty of water [been too busy to drink as much as usual] and catching up on tv stuff I had recorded and not got around to watching yet.

38+6 today

Teapig · 11/04/2013 17:05

I've done the laying down with a glass of water thing and only counted four movements which is less than usual so we're going in for monitoring. They were a bit short with me on the phone and said they're very busy so I hope they don't think I'm a time waster. I've been in before for the same thing but really feel I need reassursnce as we're definitely getting less movement. Hopefully it will be ok.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/04/2013 17:32

tea it might just be because baby is engaging but you should never apologise for getting checked out!

WestieMamma · 11/04/2013 17:37

Good luck everyone experiencing action today.

leluella · 11/04/2013 17:37

Teapig I think you aredoing the right thing going in, sod the miserable midwives, you are the best judge as to whether your babes movements are too few and you will not have peace until you know the baby is fine.

Empress, sounds like things are progressing and i hope you have your baby with you soon.

I'm feeling much better today after seeing the consultant about growth, she was happy with the baby's size and managed to get me a scan where they checked fluid and blood flow and all looked good. Scan estimated the current weight to be 7lbs3 which I'm quite happy with.

I guess now I just have to wait, head is not engaged at all so ball, yoga and squats planned tonight and a long walk tomorrow morning.

40+2

wishfulthinking1 · 11/04/2013 18:31

Hi all-
teapig - glad you're getting checked out.

empress - surely it can't be too long now!

No news over here- thought I was losing my plug earlier on- a lot of snotty discharge on 2 occasions- but nothing since, so now think I might've imagined it!

On the plus side, I've had a lovely day with DH and I've arranged things to do tomorrow and Saturday, just so I don't go deranged!! I've also bought a pineapple- it's getting consumed tonight!!

Xxx

40+4- I keep refreshing screen to follow updates. No word from mrssimpkin - here's hoping she's had her baby by now!!

Xxx

MrsSimkins · 11/04/2013 19:14

Aww thanks for thinking of me wishful but I'm still here! Had second sweep today and midwife said I'm no further along than Monday and not to get my hopes up that anything will happen in the next couple of days! Totally fed up, this itching is driving me mad. Oh we'll off for a curry and some sex Wink

birdbrain17 · 11/04/2013 19:24

wow lots of people having action today good luck Grin

wishful careful with the pineapple all it did it to me was give me heartburn!

40+4

Teapig · 11/04/2013 20:18

Thanks for all the advice/encouragement on getting checked. I'm really pleased we went in as I was starting to go a little crazy worrying something was up.

They put me on the monitor and said we have a very happy baby Grin I'm so relieved! I felt baby twice while on the monitor but there were more movements that I didn't feel so I'm reassured that even though I might be feeling that many movements it doesn't mean baby isn't moving. The MWs were really lovely when I got there and said I should always get checked if worried, really glad we went.

The MW asked if I was having any contractions as the monitor was picking that up. I've been aware of tightenings but haven't thought anything of them as they haven't been painful. She said it's probably the uterus practising so I guess that's Braxton Hicks. Baby isn't engaged though so no chance of anything happening soon. Still feeling much happier having been checked.

Mrs S, wishful and lulella - I hope the curry/sex/pineapple/ball/yoga/squats do the trick. I might try all of those soon.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/04/2013 20:27

Ah I'm glad it's reassured you and they were nice when you got there tea. I had the same where they said I was having more movement than I necessarily felt.

So I'm on my gym ball to encourage things along but if anything it makes me feel less comfortable! My back aches (maybe my posture is bad!) and my bump keeps going hard! Is it just me?!

EmpressMatilda · 11/04/2013 21:26

Sorry to post such a downer but I am finding this all so difficult. I have been having contractions since 2am, probably longer but am apparently no closer to delivering my baby. I just saw the midwife who said I am only in early labour, not established labour, and sent me home. The worst thing about it is she said I should keep my scheduled appointment for tomorrow because 'these things can often grind to a halt so it will be necessary to put you on the induction list just in case'.

I can't keep food down and I can't sleep because of the contractions. I feel like I have been doing this forever and have already drained any energy and strength I had. The thought of there being worse to come is terrifying.

Mama1980 · 11/04/2013 21:39

Wow been away for a week and there are so many posts I've nearly 300 to catch up on! Congratulations to everyone with gorgeous new baby's Smile I will do a proper name check later.
I haven't had a moment to myself, to post sorry.
Alex now weighs 6lbs! And is currently asleep on my chest-his favourite place - apparently I have the clingiest baby in the world but I so don't care! Grinmy friend who has a boy born the same day as ds1 who is ds1s best friend came over yesterday our first non family visitors it was great i am feeling so much more like myself -had a hysterical moment when my friend had to help me to the bathroom and while holding me she tripped over the wheelchair feet, arms/legs everywhere and boys laughing so hard they fell over too. i think I am just on a total high, nothing fazes me right now I'm just so happy.

Hang on in there empress I hope things get moving soon. Thinking of you xxx

Mama1980 · 11/04/2013 21:40

Have you tried some dry biscuits empress? They might help your stomach. And remember fluids too if you can. X
