Wonderful news for today as we welcome babycandy and little Charlotte and hoping that this thread sees little Alex and Evan home very soon.

How many more babies will this thread see?

Hi all,

I am still here, saw midwife today at 39 + 5, baby is 2/5 engaged and still back to back!!!

She has booked me in for an appt on Monday, where they will do at sweep at 40 + 3, so fongers crossed! Hearing about all your lovely babies makes me impatient to meet mine and have her home with DH and I.

Hope all is well with those waiting for bits and bobs!

MonkeyBlossom · 10/04/2013 17:54

Wow, I'm away for a few days and there are babies popping out all over the place lol! :)
Congratulations to all the new mummies!
Hope everyones feeling well, whether with their new babies or still waiting.

wishfulthinking1 · 10/04/2013 19:18

Hi all-
user - you're not by yourself with the excess tears! I've been exactly the same- miserable, hormonal and falling out with DH left, right and centre- I'm exhausted!!

Saw mw today- she recommended a sweep, which wasn't awful at all- but afterwards she said it probably wouldn't have worked- body just not ready yet- my cervix only scored 4/15 whatever that means- less than half marks for my cervix!!

Hoping I get a good nights sleep tonight- awful night last night, just couldn't nod off- baby was doing some serious disco dancing!!!

Big hugs to all of those waiting....and waiting... and waiting...

Xx

Leluella see the consultant, they can sometimes do a scan then and there, rather than during busy clinic. I had a small for dates baby last time and the consultants scanned me as part of their appointment rather than two separate appointments. My bump measured at least two weeks ahead last time though baby was scanned at 9th centile, at 40+6 she arrived 5lb. 13oz and dropped to the .4th centile where she has stayed since.

KelleStar · 10/04/2013 19:30

Username if I start sobbing I set DD off and then DH comes home to two emotionally charged women. As someone who isn't very tearful or outwardly emotional usually, it's really awful. I can't wait until baby arrives now, just exhausted, physically and emotionally. You aren't alone at all!

birdbrain17 · 10/04/2013 19:36

user my latest tears and tantrums were triggered by me making biscuits and the dough was just too sticky no matter how much extra flour I put in. managed to get them sorted in the end but yep will totally agree with everyone that hormones are very very strange things!!!!!Wink

Aw thanks! Glad to hear am not the only one!

mrssimkins I meant to say am with you on the itching! I started with a stretch mark rash in lower abdomen for about a week and in last few days has spread to my calves, am using e45 itch relief cream which isn't great but definitely helps, mw couldn't give anything but if it gets any worse will see gp! I don't think mine is pupps since its not spreading in same way, probably just excess hormones!

Hi all - have just caught up as have been offline since the weekend.

Congratulations to all of you with new babies - and all with gorgeous names too! Well done to everyone persevering with BF when it is proving to be a challenge. I am very happy with Evan being BF - it also means DP can feed him and the DDs love feeding him too.

Fingers crossed for everyone with varying degrees of engagement that labour starts for you soon. It seems as though the final stages of pregnancy are hard going and the waiting must be wearing.

Evan is 4 weeks old tomorrow and currently fast asleep on me looking gorgeous! Grin We were discharged from NICU last Friday as Evan is doing so well. He was 5lb 3oz when we brought him home and a week later had gone up to 5lb 13oz!
The HV did a home visit on Tuesday and in 4 days he had gone up again to 6lb 6oz. He is starting to grow out of his tiny baby clothes.
DP is now on paternity leave which has worked out well as he has this week with DDs too as we are still on Easter holidays here and then he gets to 'help' sort out a morning routine once school starts again. He is great to have around - but I know the mornings will actually run smoother once he goes back to work Smile

EmpressMatilda · 11/04/2013 02:22

Can any of you ladies tell me what early labour feels like? I have not been able to sleep since going to bed at 11 because each time I relax and nod off I get hit by a pain. I would say it's in my lower back mostly (though for some reason my right leg is really hurting -rather random) and a bit my tummy. It feels like a period pain combined with trapped wind.

For a few hours I thought it was just trapped wind but it doesn't seem to have stopped.

The pain is bad enough to stop me sleeping but it's certainly not unbearable.

EssexWelsh · 11/04/2013 03:19

Empress that sounds exactly like labour to me!!! It started like that for me, felt like a really bad period pain for 30 seconds then it would disappear and I would be fine again but agree wasn't that painful so ignored. What I did after an hour of doubting was start timing and get in the bath and chilled to some Jamie Cullum on my iPod. I got up after an hour and put on TENS machine, which I would swear by, 4 hours later when contractions were every 3-5 mins and at least 45 seconds long I went to hospital. At this point I was 4cm dilated and only when I got to about 8cm did it get really painful and I got in water pool. Also be aware that they are not always 5 mins apart they may fluctuate from 3mins to 8mins and sometimes I would go 2mins and have what I said was a mini contraction then possibly the next one would be 7mins later and be far stronger.

EmpressMatilda · 11/04/2013 03:28

Thanks Essex. I have started timing them and they are a bit wayward but they do keep coming which is the main thing that put me on alert. It's hard to know what to do though. For a while there I was just thinking I should try to sleep as they are clearly not painful enough to be 'it'. But I can't sleep. I will maybe put my headphones on and try to chill. I don't want them to peter out as I know that can happen!

EssexWelsh · 11/04/2013 03:50

Honestly I felt the same thinking this can't be it as it's too easy! When we got to the hospital I was convinced they'd tell me it was all in my imagination and 7 hours later he was in my arms, first baby too.

Good luck, keep us updated if you can Grin

EmpressMatilda · 11/04/2013 04:06

That's so reassuring! Thank you! I so want this to be labour as I'm now 6 days past my due date. I just want my baby. So I find myself wishing for more pain because at least that means it's happening!

Wish I'd got organised and got a Tens machine though. All I've got are paracetamol. Oops. Should have used that extra time to get myself some more pain relief!

LikeCandy · 11/04/2013 05:04

empress that's how things started for me! Took 5 hours from 'period pains' to 'definitely contracting 3x in 10mins. Today may be your day - good luck!

Congrats to all the other new arrivals, and here's wishing speedy/painless baby thoughts for the rest of you ladies!

BabyCandy now 19 days old, I would have been 41+1 today!

Trishstar · 11/04/2013 05:12

Still in hospital (keeping my head down so I can stay with Hunter!)

Will read thru the thread n see what's been happening in a minute as I'm just sat expressing.

Hunter is completely free of wires on all 4 limbs! He's still got his NG tube but when he's awake we give a bottle and also top up with breast (tho we still need help with this and the midwives and neonatal nurses have said when we do go home we treat it like day 1 of BF.

He's on completely all my milk as of 1am this morning and so far his blood sugar has been good so just hope it stays like that! Then we will have to space the feeds out now! 2 hourly then 3 then 4! Then we can go home I imagine! Xxxx

Trishstar · 11/04/2013 05:24

Right xxx glad everyone is doing well with babies already here! As for those waiting I don't have much as advice as little man came before his due date and I was impatient by then! I dread to think what you guys feel like that have gone over! Hope it all happens soon for you!

Sending lots of love to everyone xx

EmpressMatilda · 11/04/2013 06:50

Thanks for the best wishes and advice guys. My contractions are much the same as they were at 2am but I took some paracetamol and managed to get snatches of sleep. I also had my show so things are certainly progressing. I just hope I get to meet my baby today Smile

SneezySnatcher · 11/04/2013 07:13

Good luck, Empress!

edinfirst · 11/04/2013 07:24

Good luck empress! Today is my due date but I think you should have it Grin

Due date buddies, how are you fairing up aufaniae, rivergirly, somewherebecomingrain? I am ok. Physically I'm lucky to be nothing more than a bit uncomfy, so it's just the waiting that's getting to me. Although today is due date from the scan, in my mind the original due date (next Monday) always seemed more likely, so I think it will be next Tuesday before I hit the 'totally fed up to be over' wall.

Congrats as ever to everyone with a new arrival, and sending strength to those getting to grips with breastfeeding. Although it sounds tough, it's amazing to know how much support there is that we can all access.

Fluffeh · 11/04/2013 07:54

Trish HUmter sounds like he's doing really well, hopefully you'll both be off home soon!

Empress good luck. I hope it is labour and you get to meet your baby today :).

No real news here, I am starving lol 24/7 all I think about is food. I thoroughly dreading the day of my cs and not eating. When I had my gtt I was really sick when I finally was allowed to drink and eat but I've asked mw about it and she said we can make sure I have anti sickness drugs from the day before to try and avoid it.

Trishstar · 11/04/2013 08:38

Empress! Hope you meet baby today xxxx

wishfulthinking1 · 11/04/2013 09:09

Oooooh empress - sounds like today's the day! Good luck!

Still bugger all happening here- at all!!

Good luck empress!

Great to hear how well Hunter is doing trish, hope you guys are home soon.

I'm debating whether to get checked out for lack of movement. I very rarely feel baby unless I have a cold drink and lay down for an hour. That does wake the little one up but I worry that I should be feeling more. To be fair I've never felt tons of movement but did used to feel her more without needing the cold drink. The lifetime of worry has already started.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 11/04/2013 10:10

Tea, ring and go. I feel so much happier since I got checked out and heed Trish's warning/experience....the team where I went were so lovely and reassuring.

Hope it's all go for you Empress!

Anyone heard from Mama recently?

I really feel like I'm just killing time now. Not due for another 12 days, house is ready. Not a lot more planned. Dunno what I'll do if I go overdue?!

JaquelineHyde · 11/04/2013 10:15

Good luck Empress it all sounds really promising. Rest whilst you can, fingers crossed for you.

39 weeks here today. I cannot believe that I have managed to get this far along it all feels a bit surreal and I am suprisingly calm about it all almost willing myself to be in immense pain Grin

Good luck everyone else that is still waiting.
