Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

OP posts:

I agree with MoN a little fib never hurt anyone. Got to do what's best for you at a scary time like this and if that means telling a little fib to have your mind put at rest until props scan on Tuesday then so be it. Good luck Hun let us no how u get on xx

HotSoupDumpling · 24/03/2013 11:35

Sal, I vote for telling a little fib. I would if I were in your shoes.

Thanks Talia and everyone for reassuring me that Dunpling junior won't suffer from not having a tasteful spacious playroom with cute rugs and framed pictures! I saw a few on ApartmentTherapy that made me green with envy. Maybe one day when we move house...

doobeedee · 24/03/2013 11:37

I've got a cold and have just got some baby's nasal saline spray. Seems to be working so far.

TheFalconsmistress · 24/03/2013 11:42

sal fingers crossed for you. how far along are you the other day I was classed as antenatal triage because I'm over 12 weeks depends on the hospital too, my cousin got seen at 9 weeks with them, thinking of you xxx

All you wonderful ladies made me feel so much better yesterday it was a really down day, under new rules Ds will be sharing a room with bump even if a girl till he is ten, my DM grew up in a family of six and said sharing was good so I'm sure they will have fun!

caz and tralia and hotsoupdumpling and MoN and anyone else I have missed that mentioned being tired and behind Grin I AM SO SO SO BEHIND IN MY OU STUFF IN EXTENSION YET IM IN BED NOW DOING NOWT!!

13 weeks today Smile

SeriousStuff · 24/03/2013 12:11

Sal I hope, if you do go in to A&E today, that everything goes ok.

Rockchick1984 · 24/03/2013 12:12

Sal I'd have no hesitation in telling a fib in your situation! Have my infers crossed for you, and sending positive sticky vibes to your baba!

Re cold - saline nasal spray is horrible but works, as does steaming your face over a bowl of hot water (and also helps clear up spots :) )

Falcon I'm doing an OU degree too, managed to get my last assignment in on time but only just! Literally started it a week before it was due, and sent it lunchtime on deadline day!! Think I did rubbish, but figured one bad mark won't hurt too badly Hmm

Dumpling we have a 3 bed house but will be putting baby and DS in together, as the 3rd bedroom is a playroom with all the toys and we like having it that way!

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 12:25

I'm lying un be eating chocolate and listening to DP hoovering downstairs. I don't want to get in his way.Grin
I really really want a roll and square sausage with brown sauce but the butchers doesn't open on a sunday so I'm in a huff.

Tarlia · 24/03/2013 12:31

Wow I've not had a square sausage in many year. Oooh potato scones and a square sausage in a buttered white roll with ketchup :O My body is probably pretty pleased I have no way of getting that haha

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 12:36

I love the ones that have onion through them. Not too keen on the plain ones. I'll be at the door of that butchers for it opening tomorrow

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 12:38

I love them with tinned tomatoes fried in the sausage fat and loads of salt and pepper and a "peice and butter" to dip in.

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 12:40

I thunk I'll need to settle for the fried tomatoes and peice and butter.

Tarlia · 24/03/2013 13:19

Heh hehe. Pieces and piece boxes, blast from the past. Made me smile :D Fried tinned tomatoes though?? Never have I heard of that!

roxvox · 24/03/2013 13:26

Square sausage?! I had never heard of that! A quick Google search later and now I am also craving square sausage. Plus some fried bread and a boiled egg with a runny yolk... Mmm. Actually a McDonald's breakfast wrap would go down a treat right now...

What are you all having for dinner? I am trying to summon up the energy to do a roast (pork I am thinking as I would only want beef if I could have it rare).

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 13:29

Fried tinned tomatoes, I think was popular when my mum was young post war. A good way of filling the kids up I suppose. I don't really know anyone my age who does it.

Smitten1981 · 24/03/2013 13:31

Talking of food I just had the most random lunch. Cheddar squares with caramelised onion relish and a handful of Sensations crackers followed by a massive bowl of mango and pineapple.

I don't know if I feel hungry or full and just can't decide what I want to eat at the moment. It's driving me crazy.

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 13:35

Think I'll be having a chicken and noodle slurry tonight. Something quick and easy.

Flyer747 · 24/03/2013 13:41

Sal I think sometimes with the NHS you have to tell a fib or else you'd get no where. I went to the EPU and the ladies were just fantastic.

They told me anytime I had any concerns no matter how small pop down and they'd scan me...couldn't believe it.

Had the dildo cam and a little wee baby healthy and seemingly happy. He/She even had a stretch and woke up whilst on screen. It was amazing and I have 2 lovely pics. I feel truly blessed x

MotherOfNations · 24/03/2013 13:42

Oops my cravings don't extend to slurry yet. I meant stirfry

pinksky · 24/03/2013 13:46

I haven't heard of square sausage either! Take it it's just sausage meat?

Just had some coconut water and small bit of leftover spag bol. Feel a bit gross now. Think DH will do roast chicken later. I have an Easter egg in the cupboard, might have to find an afternoon movie and get stuck into that later.

Sal really hope you have gone to A&E and that you get a scan. Thinking of you.

Sal1977 · 24/03/2013 13:56

I really fancy some chips from the chippy!

Just got back from A&E and saw the loveliest doctor there who was 16 weeks preggers herself with the same midwife as me. She had a good feel around and had a look at the photo I took of some loo roll (can you believe we've been reduced to this??) and I was up front about no pain etc and she that they won't scan on a weekend and she probably couldn't get me anything earlier than Wednesday or Thursday, so stick to my Tuesday scan.

She said it is unusual to miscarry at 11 weeks and most happen before 8-9 weeks so to have some hope but it could be bad. The only tho g she said to do is rest rest rest!

cazboldy · 24/03/2013 13:58

falcon and Rockchick Im doing an OU degree to.... and thats mainly what I am behind with! Got my last tma in - just, and am about 2 units behind at the moment, but everytime i sit down to read i fall asleep!

What are you 2 doing? I'm doing a history degree, and doing french with my spare 60 credits.

I have an exam on 13th June, and when i have finished these 2 courses I will have 150 credits (hopefully) so a little way to go as yet!

cazboldy · 24/03/2013 14:00

well thats better news sal! you sound much happier. Smile

fingers crossed for Tuesday - and for me, and falcon, and roofio.. (and I'm sure there was someone else too - but i can't remember!Blush)

Smitten1981 · 24/03/2013 14:01

Phew, that sounds not so bad Sal fingers crossed for Tuesday and rest up. Keep thinking positive thoughts.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 24/03/2013 14:47

Fingers crossed sal. I think she would have told you if she was really worried. Good luck this week!

OrangeBlossom2 · 24/03/2013 14:51

Glad you got seen sal and fingers crossed for Tuesday.

Congratulations wispa and flyer on the scans and roofio on the engagement.

Had a lovely time at the wedding this weekend although I was exhausted and seriously regretted booking a taxi for 12.30 to come home! Managed a bit of a dance which was nice to feel a bit normal and human again. No one seemed too nosey about why I wasn't drinking this time. One of my friends announced she is 13 weeks pregnant. It seems as if everyone is at it at the moment!

Annoyingly our car wouldn't start this morning in the snow so had to wait around for the aa to come and jump start us as the hotel owner's attempt didn't work. I bet they are busy this weekend! So tired I slept all the way home and think I will have another nap now...
