Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Littlemissexpecting · 27/03/2013 10:29

Thank you that's good to know. I'm guessing if anything shows up after blood tests taken today she will call.

Littlemissexpecting · 27/03/2013 10:29

P.s. sunny I have crap veins too. They can never find them!!

learnermummy · 27/03/2013 10:35

Yesterday I had to have four vials of blood taken, and my anti-D injection - really felt like a pin cushion! No call from the hospital yet so hopefully GTT is all clear.

SunnyL · 27/03/2013 11:05

Learner - they could only take 2 vials from me before my veins gave up. They had to pull the tops off and pour blood between the 4 vials. I promised not to tell the Health and Safety Executive. Its a good thing I'm never allowed to give blood (too many trips to dodgy malaria countries) - it would take an age for me to give someone a pint.

learnermummy · 27/03/2013 11:11

Oh dear sunny sounds awful. My veins are usually hard to find when not pregnant, but when pregnant they don't seem to have a problem thankfully!

MrsBri · 27/03/2013 12:24

No problem with my veins, but only one vial taken from me on Monday. I was told they would only call me if they needed to tell me my iron count is low.

I had 4 or 5 the first time though :-/

Sunny, if I lie on my back it tempts Baby B into moving. Don't think he likes it much! Thankfully he's back to his wriggly self today and kept me entertained through the 4th lot of costs training I've had in 10 days!

Tell you what, if Baby B turns out to be a girl, I'll be really surprised! Always the chance though :-) I just can't call my baby 'it'!

Sunbeam18 · 27/03/2013 13:05

Just had my 28 week appt, and all well. Three vials of blood taken - I couldn't look. He is measuring 2cm over so the midwife said she anticipated he 'wouldn't be a 5 pounder'! Oh God... But he is robust so good news, I think!

forgetmenots · 27/03/2013 13:16

Mrsbri, I've recently been thinking mine is a girl (with no reason for this), strange given how similar our 'symptoms' have been! Could both be wrong, of course!

MrsBri · 27/03/2013 14:05

I'm 2cm over my real date too, Sunbeam :-/ Looking good for a bruiser!

Forget, I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I'm almost convinced boy. As is everyone at work!

SunnyL · 27/03/2013 14:42

My sister is convinced I'm having a boy because I'm carrying only at the front i.e. don't look preggers from the back. I've told her she's got a 50/50 chance of being right.

DH thinks it might be a girl because a) he didn't see anything in the ultrasound and b) he keeps having dreams that we've had a girl. I think also he would secretly like a girl (something to do with having the first ever F1 champion that is a girl - god helps him if the poor child doesn't like cars).

People keep asking me what my gut feeling is. Currently my gut is feeling indigestion.

redwellybluewelly · 27/03/2013 14:50

Sunny Currently my gut feeling is indigestion oh I hear you!

learnermummy · 27/03/2013 15:22

Currently my gut is feeling indigestion Grin. I'm going out for a curry later so am sure will be joining you!

I don't think I'm 'carrying' any differently to the other two, but supposedly this is a girl. Have definitely experienced the heartburn v no heartburn for hairy/not hairy babies though.

Sunbeam18 · 27/03/2013 15:37

I think we're tracking on the same course, MrsBri, as think we go on mat leave on the same day too! What is your due date? I'm 18 June.

redwellybluewelly · 27/03/2013 15:42

I had heartburn mildly with my DC1 (DD) and she did have some hair, this one will have locks like Rapunzel the amount of flipping heartburn I have had!

Only DH and I know the sex of this baby though and we are keeping very very quiet about it. My nephew guessed correctly (his accuracy rate is about 90%) and my best friend 'knows' because she had a dream although I've refused to tell her if she is right or not Grin

huhpuh · 27/03/2013 15:53

Hi there! I'm a newbie (to Mumsnet, this thread and pregnancy) due on June 11th. Just a tip for any of you Juners who haven't had your whooping cough jab yet - I had mine in my left upper arm (I'm right handed - so obvious no?). But that meant that I couldn't sleep on my left side for 2 nights as it was sore. So if you're a leftie sleeper, perhaps have it on your right? I wish I had.

As for packing my bag - it seems a bit early? Plus I know that the longer I have it hanging about, the more tempted I'll be to keep adding stuff to it so by the time I'm in labour, most of the house will be in it and I'll have upgraded the size of bag 3 times!

MrsBri · 27/03/2013 16:01

20th June, Sunbeam, finish work 10th May.

Race you to the finish!!

Sunbeam18 · 27/03/2013 16:11

Yep, 10 May departure here too! Bring it on! Only 20 working days left as have annual leave to take next week!
It's going to be exciting when our thread start hatching these chicks!

learnermummy · 27/03/2013 16:27

Gosh I'm due 19th June and wasn't going to finish until 23rd May.

Welcome huhpuh, good tip on the jab, getting mine Tuesday so will bear that in mind!

AlohaMama · 27/03/2013 16:36

I'm going to be so jealous when you're all on mat leave and I still have a month to go :( it's also going to be busy up until the end.

Should I be thinking about packing a bag? I think I prefer the denial approach, as in I can't possibly be needing it for at least 10 weeks so I don't need to pack it now!

Littlemissexpecting · 27/03/2013 16:51

Learner I'm also due 19th but have so much annual leave to use I'm finishing on 2nd or 3rd May. I can't wait!!
I'm just back from mw so I feel like a pin cushion after 3 vials of blood taken and my whooping cough jab in my left arm! Not too much a problem for me as I'm struggling to sleep on my left with my hip anyway. My friend did say she found it painful come bed time.
At 25 weeks I was measuring +2cm so worried i was having a biggie but at 28 weeks (today) I'm spot on. Nct teacher did say it is a guesstimate as it depends what position baby is in to what you measure (baby facing forwards or back, side to side etc) and also whether mw measures exact top of uterus and pelvic bone etc.
mw didn't want to leave it till 33/34 weeks till next appt so she has booked me into a postnatal clinic at 31 weeks. She wants to monitor me for anaemia.
Sorry for long post!!

Littlemissexpecting · 27/03/2013 16:53

Huhpuh I know what you mean about adding to bag! I'm bad enough at the minute adding to this little boys wardrobe!! I wasn't planning on packing until I've finished work at 33 weeks unless I have any probs between now and then. I might start buying things though (nightie, big pants etc).

learnermummy · 27/03/2013 17:03

I have 5 weeks annual leave to take - taking a week at Easter, and possibly another week with a day or two here and there before finishing, so that leaves 3 weeks to tack on to maternity leave. I could start my actual maternity leave before my due date I suppose. Will see how I feel. 2nd May is no time at all littlemiss.

pinkapples · 27/03/2013 18:19

Wow ill also be jealous of you all finishing Grin I'm not done till the 31st may leaving me a week before my due date (hopefully) but if I'm bored ill be going in for a Brew and a chat at work as hubby isn't on pat leave till she's born

Thanks for the whooping cough think I've booked mine in for the 12th as I cancelled last apt couldn't make it

I also won't be packing a bag for a while for fear of overloading it so will hold out probably till about 35 weeks only another 6 weeks to go it is mad to think she will be here in 11 weeks Blush

MrsBri · 27/03/2013 18:57

I'm planning on packing my bag tomorrow once my nighties have been delivered! Want to be all organised by 30 weeks really, then I can relax :-)

I have 4 weeks' annual leave to take and I'm starting mat leave 10 days before my due date.

I'm having my whooping cough jab once I've finished as I can't keep taking time away from work for these things when I work an hour away from home. 34 weeks will be fine, if not ideal.

Wish I could stop myself shopping for baby things. Far too tempting!!

Citybaby · 27/03/2013 19:04

Hi, I didn't realise heartburn meant your baby had hair, that should mean my baby is a little monkey at this rate! Grin

I'm also so jealous you are on maternity leave soon, I have really had enough of commuting now.Angry

Did you guys have to book your whooping cough injection or did the doctor just give it to you at your appointment? I haven't been offered I one yet, my next appointment is 32 weeks. Xxx
