Red have you looked in mothercare or mamas and papas?
I got some for Xmas from mothercare which are low for under bump and very comfy. Seen some lovely ones in m+p last week but none of them were too dark. Figured comfort is higher priority at the minute!

learnermummy · 25/03/2013 22:55

Hi all and welcome newbies.
Suffering with a cough and sore throat here and keep losing my voice . Bump sore from all the coughing. To add insult to injury I have my GTT tomorrow so have started fasting and will have to survive night without lockets. It's going to be a long night!
Red - I'm mainly wearing some cheap tesco pjs that I bought a few sizes too big. Also have seen some m&s pjs in a maroon colour.
Am still in denial over prams as really don't want to spend the kind of money people are talking about! Hoping to borrow from a friend but not sure when I'll see her!!

MrsBri · 25/03/2013 23:01

And I've just discovered that Tesco has a really good range of vests / sleepsuits etc too, and just ordered a load more stuff in 0-3 and 3-6 months :-)

Feel like I'm getting there now. Bloody good job too, as I've spent an absolute fortune this month. And I'll only have to pay it off in April and May :-/

AlohaMama · 26/03/2013 02:19

Hi all and welcome newbies! As usual so much to catch up on. Lots of shopping going on it sounds like.

Am feeling shattered after only 1 day of having visitors - dh sister and family (3 kids) arrived last night and they're here for 2 1/2 weeks. I'd forgotten how noisy children are, compared to the quiet of just our one ds. Have also realised I'm going to need to take it easier as after lots of running around, and looking after people I have back ache and bump ache, and would you believe it, housemaids knee.

On the plus side, we'll be going for our last pre-baby getaway next week, which while not exactly relaxing (as it'll be us 3 plus our visitors) will be nice to have a break from work. Work is looking like it's going to be horribly busy till I go on mat leave so my dreams of frittering away the time online shopping and mnetting have just been dashed Sad

SunnyL · 26/03/2013 03:28

Urg just woken up from a very very vivid dream. Now trying to keep myself from falling back asleep as i may throttle DH in my sleep if i go back into that dream. Dreamt that he told me he was leaving me for a job in northern ireland and there just wasnt room for us in his life anymore. Phew - the things your unconcious does to you when you are feeling vulnerable. Very very tempted to wake him up to tell him how horrible he was in my dream. Definately not rational but i've got a bloody good excuse for being mad havent i???

SunnyL · 26/03/2013 03:28

P.s. Hello all newbies!

Sarah2506 · 26/03/2013 05:17

Urgh cant sleep. Second night in a row. Wish Valium or gin were acceptable in pregnancy! Have weird sex dreams about boss when am asleep. Not helpful:-) tomorrow is going to be a horror day....

AlohaMama · 26/03/2013 06:40

Ooh dear sarah, those are not good dreams. Hope you manage to get some sleep and wipe it all from your memory!

Littlemissexpecting · 26/03/2013 07:12

Morning all!
I don't have weird dreams, just have a rubbish sleep. Think I'm getting DHs cold which doesn't help when I can't breathe anyway!
Hope you all have a good day

Littlemissexpecting · 26/03/2013 07:13

Meant to add Sainsburys have 25% off clothing starting today and 1/3 off loads of baby toiletries inc nappies, breast pads etc so worth a visit if your near one

MrsBri · 26/03/2013 07:41

Oh dear, Sarah, that's not good. Glad I don't have that problem!! Mind bleach required.

Quite a few of the supermarkets have good deals on baby things at the moment. Asda sells Pampers in big boxes for about 12p a nappy, which is the best price I've come across.

My local Sainsbury doesn't stock clothes, sadly. :-/

I'm still glad I looked at the Tesco baby wear though, as their unisex stuff is more fun than other shops have.

learnermummy · 26/03/2013 09:11

Yuck having to drink huge glass of lucozade in 5 mins on empty stomach is not nice! Now to sit and wait for 2 hrs in waiting room, have brought my baby cross stitch to do Smile.

redwellybluewelly · 26/03/2013 10:06

MrsBri I remember when I was getting clothes for DD I got some Tesco vests and they were great, but they were also HUGE! If you have any sleepsuits from other stores (even if you return them) compare the Tesco's 0-3 to other brands or newborn, they may have changed sizing in the last 3 years but DD was 7lbs and they were about 2inches too big all round and she was a long baby. Wanted to save your DH having to go out in a hurry.

Will check out the Mothercare PJs, comfort is certainly the higher priority right now but I also don't have the £ to buy more when I've had baby, and with a CS scar and the usual lochia I'm thinking dark PJs will be less embarrassing. DH has already come up with a plan to protect the sofa (where I will be spending much of my first week at home!).

learnermummy I hope the sugar crash isn't too bad and you can have a nice Brew soon

LouGlasgow · 26/03/2013 11:19

I found the opposite with Tesco sleep suits (DS will be 3 end of June). They were always smaller than next & mother care. Found John Lewis the biggest. Liked having different brands to bridge the gaps in size :) Babygrows look so tiny and cute now - still can't get my head round the fact we'll have a tiny newborn soon!! My MIL has gone mad buying girl things as its her first granddaughter. Luckily we have similar tastes :)

learnermummy · 26/03/2013 11:32

GTT all done now and enjoying cuppa and a muffin Grin. Wasn't too bad actually and quite nice to be forced to sit still for 2 hrs!

MrsBri · 26/03/2013 12:04

Ta for the heads up, redwelly...our newborn stuff is Asda, our 0-3 is Tesco. We shall see how it goes!

I have some absorbent pads for sitting on. Glamorous!

redwellybluewelly · 26/03/2013 12:46

Those absorbent pads (the big ones) can come in handy in the car and in a bed when potty training so if you do have any left over put them in a bottom drawer somewhere Smile

learnermummy · 26/03/2013 14:46

Yes, those absorbent pads are also good under the sheet of the cot/crib to catch any vomit or nappy leakage! Must get some...

DontmindifIdo · 26/03/2013 15:11

oh god those absorbent pads (adds to list) also good for putting under the sheets in bed, a lot of woman's waters go in bed, so you could ruin an otherwise perfectly good matress if you aren't careful...

Tesco stuff is big, but be careful about tumble drying it, it tends to shrink.

Thanks for the Sainsburys tip, any idea how long that's on for? won't get there tonight...

Saku · 26/03/2013 16:52

I am 27 weeks.. any one with same.. Hmm

Citybaby · 26/03/2013 17:57

Oh where do you get the absorbent pads from please? Everyone I know waters broke in bed and I love my mattress too much!

Roll on the long weekend! Xxx

MrsBri · 26/03/2013 18:03

I got mine from Boots. Only got one pack for now. May look for them somewhere else where they may be cheaper! :-)

pinkbear82 · 26/03/2013 18:11

Ah good idea with the absorbent pads - we had to use them with dsc when she was going thru a bed wetting stage and they were a godsend!

I shall add them on to my (yet to be made) list of things I need to get.

Littlemissexpecting · 26/03/2013 18:15

Don't mind think it ends next couple of days, might be tomorrow for nappies etc. There clothes offer ends Monday.
City- boots have an incontinence section so will find some there. I walked passed it the other day. Or puppy training mats will do same thing.

pinkapples · 26/03/2013 18:27

Oh I hadn't thought about waters breaking in bed Blush just bought a 2000 pound new mattress so thinking will need to protect that just in case where will I get one from that big(kingsize) and when is everyone going to lay them? What if baby comes early
