So pleased Ellie although I felt totally confidant for you all along xx

bigbelly4 · 18/03/2013 12:07

Morning ladies!

Wowsers there has been a lot of shopping going on! Me too, although mine were not NCT bargains Wink. But have bought pram/pushchair and new car seat with isofix (so smallest gremlins dont undo baby seat belt by mistake!) also found 2 grobags in loft that i thought i had got rid of so i'm pretty chuffed as they were my favorite.

Re maternity clothes, I appear to be a bit oddly shaped (never really thought i was before!) and I'm fairy tall (5'11) so even extra length stuff often comes up short on legs. I have found that Jojo maman bebe does tend to fit, as does boden - but wish i could buy cheaper stuff as i this is probably last pregnancy. So will probably stick on ebay when im done!

I can now report that the strawberry lace addiction has passed, TBH if i see another one i think i may puke! But the tomato one is still going strong - so much so that in Sainsburys this morning i bought so many that the checkout lady was convinced i was making soup for the 5 thousand!

Am finally going back to the gym this week, after my fainting trick a few weeks ago! I really do feel better for keeping up with some level of fitness and even if i just swim, its better than nothing!

Have started sorting out the old nursery and deciding it needs a re-vamp. Cant decide what to do though as we are team yellow. Want something quite funky but not so 'out there' poor baby wont be able to sleep.

toodlepip for now,

23+5 (i think, getting confussed v easily ATM)

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/03/2013 12:40

photographer if you join the boots advantage card parenting club they give you 10 points per £ on baby purchases and a voucher for a free boots changing bag if you buy a bag of nappies.

Glad to hear everything's sorted, ellie

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/03/2013 12:43

bigbelly we've never had a nursery as always in rented places, but how about a white with bright rainbow or zoo animals theme, or baby blue sky with clouds? They're fairly unisex.

CitizenOscar · 18/03/2013 12:49

Trust - most Nct activities are open to non-members including sales & in my area parties & breastfeeding cafe & meet-ups etc.

VinegarDrinker · 18/03/2013 12:57

I've never had a changing bag and haven't missed it. Just had a little pouch with wipes and nappies (plus clean vest/babygro if sticky/prone to poonamis) that me or DH chuck in whichever bag we are using that day. 90% of the stuff people lug around with them is unnecessary imho!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 18/03/2013 13:13

Hey everyone.

For anyone in Scotland, we have the Jack and Jill market and Rock a Bye baby sales. They're brilliant and worth a google.

Ellie I'm so glad to hear everything went okay with the SW, she obviously had some common sense!

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/03/2013 13:32

vinegar we're the same - I have a washbag that fits a few nappies, wipes, spare vest and leggings, a tiny freebie nappy cream and a sachet of ibuprofen. I don't think there's much else I've ever needed except a muslin and spare boob pads when I was BFing.

elliejjtiny · 18/03/2013 14:15

totally a washbag with a few bits in sounds like a good idea. I'm determined to travel light with this baby, it will be so much easier when I'm out with all 4 of them.

Thinkingof4 · 18/03/2013 14:39

Wow I'm kind of jealous of everyone's baby buys, I haven't bought a single thing for baby yet and probably won't buy anything before baby born. I do however have boxes and boxes of baby stuff in the loft and even thinking about all those cute wee vests and babygros is enough to make me go a bit gooey about meeting my lovely little baby! I might cave and buy one outfit before baby born!!
Ellie really glad common sense has been applied! I know what you mean about it being nice to have another expectant mum at school- I keep looking round hopefully to see another bump, but the only one I've seen so far is ds1's teacher and her first one is only about 2. Most of his friends are one of 2 so no more babies on the way!

vinegar hope you've got some time off this week to catch up on rest, that's sounds tough! I've got 2 oncall days in next 3 weeks and that's bad enough but at least not overnights! I'm starting to count how many oncalls I have left and hoping I'm not going to be on call in June as I'll be huge by then! Really need to work out my finish date which will be first half of June sometime.

dinky hope you are managing ok at work and not feeling too lousy

iclaudius when is your scan? Must be soon, is it this week? Good luck with it, are you planning finding put gender or staying team yellow?

bigbelly I agree rainbows/clouds/ blue sky would be lovely for a nursery. Our nursery remains completely undecorated so we aren't planning doing anything to it
totally wash bag sounds good, only problem I have is using washables and having 2 in nappies mean I tend to lug a huge bag around. Oh and having reflux babies who need multiple outfit changes doesn't help much either. Be lovely to travel light though Grin

Snowy here again today but not lying at all, just a bit cold and miserable. I'm planning a veggie tea from hugh f-w's veg cookbook tonight with butternut squash, sweet potato and carrots with noodles and looking forward to it already. It's supposed to be with Chinese 5 spice but unfortunately this was substituted in my last online asda shop for thai 7 spice....may be interesting!!

emblosion · 18/03/2013 14:55

hey all, just popping on quickly to say my intuition was correct - it's another boy!

have updated the stats list & added us to team blue :)

mothercare have some nice rainbow stuff in at the moment, i got some really cool sheets for ds with multicoloured clouds, dots and animals on. i'm not a fan of pastels, much prefer bright colours.

dinkystinky · 18/03/2013 15:30

Hmm, that veg dish sounds good Thinking - hope the spice substitution works.

Emblosion - congrats on blue bump!

I have a skip hop change bag kicking around somewhere I used for ds1 and ds2 - liked the easy access pockets at the front for muslins, hand sanitiser, happy bags, snacks etc. Wonder if will be able to find it ...

Afternoon all, hope everyone is having a good day. I just spoke to a co-worker whose wife was over week overdo but had their baby at the weekend. 11LBS!! Holy heck! I think I need to stop buying clothes just in case I have a big baby, I never imagined 11lbs. Happy and healthy though which is important but apparently giving mom and dad no rest day or night.

dinkystinky · 18/03/2013 16:18

He will do soon though photographer - the first few weeks are a shock for all, most of all the baby, but then it all settles down. Colleague had a 11 lb and then a 13lb baby - both vaginal births. Mind you, she and her dh are both over 6 ft 2...

esme80 · 18/03/2013 16:52

11 and 13 pounds, wow... I thought my 9 pound 1 little one was big! Although he was born 2 days before due, so if I had gone over suppose he would have been a bit bigger...

Am also a bit jealous of baby shopping, dont need anything apart from a double pushchair. Have found a used bugaboo donkey I am buying, still expensive though... But also found a friend of a friend who is buying my cameleon so that helps a bit. And no, I dont work for bugaboo, just slightly obsessed with them...

Bigbelly are next longer length too short also? I am 5'10 and they work for me... So hard to find longer length though, like clothing companies dont realise tall women also get pregnant!

BB01 · 18/03/2013 17:03

Still catching up with this thread! Ellie that is fantastic news. You must be so relieved.

Emblosion- many congrats!

Sashabella0 · 18/03/2013 17:45

Iclaudius. My scan is on Monday. Only a week to go now!

iclaudius · 18/03/2013 18:01

Oh sashabella that means you may be officially last !!! I did read on the NHS website that scans were supposed to be up until 'twenty weeks six days' and I am 21 already so that's irrationally p'd me off!!

MrsMillions · 18/03/2013 18:23

OMG 11 and 13lb babies have scared me somewhat...

Bigbelly we are team yellow, are going for cheerful secondary colours so green walls (one shade up from apple white, hit the tester pots yesterday Dulux are 3 for £1), bright orange chair, some purple somewhere (maybe curtains) and a bit of jungle theming too with wall stickers and other accessories.

Ordered pram yesterday, had decided on Bugaboo Cameleon and delighted to get free car seat with Mothercare.

Sashabella0 · 18/03/2013 18:45

I'm 21+5 and going to be team yellow so the wait probably isn't so painful for me! My hospital also scans at 32 weeks so I've got that to look forward to. Grin

AmaDablam · 18/03/2013 19:32

Congratulations on the blue bump Emblosion!

Glad everything was OK in the end for you Ellie with HV/Social Services thing.

BB01 re. the second hand breast pump, I read that about open vs closed systems too but the one I got was a manual one (the standard Aveda type) so I didn't know what that counted as. Either way though I now can't shake the thought that it has had someone else's bodily fluids going through it, and from what I read on t'internet home sterilizers won't necessarily get rid of all human borne infections. It's probably only a tiny risk but I don't think I'm going to take it. It only cost £5 so it's not that much money down the drain, and I've seen a brand new one on Amazon for £18, so would save my wasted fiver in comparison to buying from a shop iyswim.

Thanks for the tip about the dream genii dinky. I looked at it again and realized it does have a cover on it and the pillow underneath looks and smells perfectly fine, so I'll just give the cover a good wash and that should do OK.

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/03/2013 19:57

iclaudius my hospital is very strict about scanning at 20 weeks +/- 3 days. They wouldn't give me a scan appointment at 20+4 when DH would've been off work.

dinkystinky · 18/03/2013 20:01

MrsMillions - my colleague and her DH are amazons - don't let it worry you too much!

emblosion · 18/03/2013 20:10

Thanks all :)

ellie forgot to say earlier, really glad everything worked out with ss. I felt sure all would be ok but it must have been such a worry.

Apparently my dh was 13lb when he was born (the horror!) his mum was v petite too. My ds was 9lb and his 98 centile head was quite enough for me Grin

re changing bags, I just used the free one from boots (think I had to join the parenting club to get it) and it was fine (impossible to travel light as ds was very sicky and ff).

PhieEl06 · 18/03/2013 20:44

Wow I am getting behind lately!!

Cheese ahhh yes! What's the betting though that they don't make an appearance when they're supposed too!

Dinky I feel impressed with myself, it was drunken carnage yes! Going to the bar with my dad to get a double whiskey, a double brandy, a vodka redbull & a pint of lager all for only £1 was amazing! Army bars are fun!! However bit sad that my last chance to experience it was a sober one but hey ho!

Photographer re movement; I am exactly the same, this time last week, felt barely anything, now getting a few good boots an hour, watching my belly move is fun tho! Smile

Ellie great to hear that SS have used their brain a little, I'm sure HV was just doing her job but not nice for her to make you worry like that!

Emblosion congratulations on blue bump!

Wow I think I've caught up, I hope everyone is having a nice evening!
