Iclaudius - think I was 21+6 when I had my scan. Felt like AGES but kept telling myself it would then be less time between that scan & actually meeting our baby.

MrsRoss26 · 18/03/2013 21:22

Blimey, scans at 32 weeks? You are spoiled! I've had the last of mine at 20 weeks. Team yellow here too, and enjoying alternating which gender I refer to the baby. No idea how we're going to decorate the baby's room yet though. Is there any way of avoiding the 'cutesy' look, without being boring/too adult?

On the clothes front, I've got to say that I'm really impressed with the H&M mamas tights. I bought a 100denier (I love really black tights) pair, and they're ridiculously comfortable. I'm still trying to fit into normal dresses wherever I can, and the tights are helping keep me look decent while the hemline rises!

Thinking we haven't really bought anything for the baby yet, except a second-hand moses basket. I don't think it's urgent yet, so no worries!

No idea how to catch up, having fallen so far behind, so apologies for not name-checking. Wanted to say hullo though and join in the baby kick celebrations - our little one has started doing high jumps on my bladder I think!

MarieKL · 18/03/2013 21:32

Thanks for all the advice on tops. The vest tops I have at the moment keep riding up my tummy (result of too many cakes rather than a growing bump I fear) so I'm off to look at ones in the next size up.

Emblosion Great news on the blue bump.

Ellie so glad to hear common sense was applied, though sorry to hear you're now poorly. What a week you're having.

Dinky I hope you got through work okay and are feeling better.

Bigbelly We're team yellow too and planning on re-using the fish stickers we got from an online company called FuntoSee for my DS's room. Bit pricey but excellent quality (survived our house move) and really made the room look bright and cheerful.

Lovely to hear everyone is starting to feel more movements, and I'm impressed with all the baby purchases that have been going on. Esme I'm particularly green with envy over your bugaboo donkey purchase. I'm going to be using the 2nd hand Geko we got for DS but I absolutely love the Donkey, just can't justify it with DS now 3!

DH is away with work tonight so going to spend the rest of the evening catching up with chores and admin, and hoping the snow predicted in Scotland doesn't head down to Northumberland! Hope everyone else has a good evening.

iclaudius · 18/03/2013 23:08

Embolism congratulations - lovely brothers!
Totally egg hmmm makes me even crosser although early blood results means I get scans at 28 32 36 weeks so plenty of chances to see baby . Bloods suggest baby could be small but last baby was two weeks early and induced due to hugeness!!

trustissues75 · 18/03/2013 23:53

Congrats Embolism!

Had a restful day today - if you can call researching for best broadband deals and doing battle with a FWexH over visitation arrangements restful...but at least I was curled up on the couch most of the day!

Nugget has been boubcing aroubd a lot and DP actually saw my stimach jumping last night - he found it fascinating.

Im off to bed - sleepy vibes (and healing vibes to those feeling poorly). hope everyone has a good night

Supershiv1 · 19/03/2013 08:10

I keep staring at my stomach for jumping beans...... no luck yet!
21+3

MightBeMad · 19/03/2013 08:50

Morning all. I'm feeling under the weather again so I've got a bit behind but you've dropped off my 'threads I'm on list' so I'm marking my place to come back later!

MightBeMad · 19/03/2013 08:51

Oh 22 weeks today - time is flying!!

dinkystinky · 19/03/2013 09:31

Morning all - finally feeling human, thank god. I hate being ill!

MightbeMad, hope you feel better soon. I blame all the bugs flying around on this flippign weather.

Supershiv - you clearly have a chilled bean for the time being - long may it last.

Marie - hope you avoid the snow! Cant believe its still bloody snowing - its March FFS!

MrsRoss - never had a nursery for the boys, they were just in with us or in the spare room. We did decorate their rooms with decals when we redid the house - DS1 has space invaders and airplanes and clouds above his bunk beds) and DS2 has a jungle and savannah theme going on in his room (both have white walls with a splash of colour from rugs and curtains in their rooms).

Well I have just really embarrssed myself at the school drop off! Having a bit of an issue with DD who seems to be invisable to her teachers, as she just gets on with things and isnt a little oik!

I tried to talk to teacher about it and ended up bursting into tears and walking out before i fully broke down - I know i'm hormonal but i am also so p'd off with the situation that it's taken its toll. [Embarrassed]

I'm so far removed from being a pushy mother but really feel that each child should be able to reach their own personnal potential. She is not brains of britain nor is she struggling with her work but she is just lost and not progressing as she was as the teacher seems to be spending more time policing than teaching. He's a really good teacher when he actually teaches but he hasn't heard her reading in over a month, not marking her homework (i know they wont correct spellings/grammer etc) or even acknowledging she has done it. [Angry]

Right, sorry rant over.

TomDaleysTrunks · 19/03/2013 11:00

Morning, glad you are feeling better dinky, rotten being ill.

Come on little shiv, start wiggling!

Vinegar - hope your awful shifts have been alright. Bloody hard work innit.

DD has had D&V since Friday, I'm hoping she's on the mend now. It's a cbeebies fest here, I'm so bored! On the plus, I've bought her new bedroom furniture and picked the paint for her room (green).
Hope everyone else is doing well
21+3 I think - keep losing track.

dinkystinky · 19/03/2013 11:19

Ah iclaudius - its hard when you feel your DC is lost. I think its pretty hard for teachers to ensure everyone in a class of 30 is ontop of things and reaching their potential, especially when there are some pretty disruptive children in the class, but hopefully now your DD's teacher has been alerted to the fact that your DD is being missed out, they'll rectify it. FWIW, as long as you're managing to read at home with her I dont think she's missing out on teacher not hearing her reading - but the homework certainly should be marked/acknowledged.

Poor DD Tom - its awful seeing them so ill. Hope she recovers soon, bless her.

Went in to see DS2's nursery teacher this morning - they've really noticed his love of art and painting and crafts. He seems to be his own little individual at nursery too which I'm very proud of - they've been studying animals and making clay figures of them. While all the others did dogs, cats etc, DS2 did a panda bear, DS2made an igloo for him and his friend the polar bear to sleep in instead of a cage or hutch Grin

bigbelly4 you poor thing. I cried at school drop off once when I was pg with DS3. It was DS1's first week of school and he was crying. I knew if I just left he'd be fine in a few minutes so I did but felt so guilty I burst into tears in the corridor outside the classroom. Hope you manage to improve things for your DD at school.

tom hope you are enjoying the furniture shopping. I always end up making cynical comments when cbeebies is on which DS1 finds hilarious. I called a puppet a hypochondriac the other day, really need to get out more Blush.

24+4

dinkystinky · 19/03/2013 11:36

Sorry, my last post was to big belly, not iclaudius. Clearly not quite back to normal.

iclaudius · 19/03/2013 12:15

Big belly yes I've been there and empathise so much - It's parents evening tomorrow and my dc5s teacher really doesn't seem to 'get' him. I know I'll struggle to keep the waterworks at bay but like you it's not hormones . If we don't stand up for them who will?
How old is dd?

paolocee · 19/03/2013 17:18

Woah, so much to catch up on. Two Ronnies and GF doing fine. No genders yet - the Swedes don't like to tell unless they're 100% certain. Cat nearly died last week. Very tearful time but he was saved. House renovation causing havoc. Hello to all - just marking my place really.

Abzs · 19/03/2013 17:55

24+2 and dopplered today. Heartbeat loud and clear, so I'd like to join the viability dance now please Grin

Today I gave in my MatB1 and my notice at my part time job. I'll be sad to leave, but going back doesn't make financial sense. Finshing at 31 weeks to coincide with DH's offshore rota and the only week we have free for a holiday in May (which I fear may be half term, as so many places are booked up already).

Paolo Hope the cat is on the mend.

cheekbyjowl · 19/03/2013 18:42

Hi to all

dinky i like the panda story. How sweet and imaginative. I love reading about everyones older children, gives a taste of what we have to look forward to.

bigbelly my dh and i do childrens work and its true that it can be too easy to get distracted by the troublemakers and not have so long for those that seem settled and i think i would appreciate it if a parent said they were worried. Just ask if he can hear her read soon and encourage her a little.

Sorry for those that are unwell. Awful isnt it?. I miss pharmacuticals, honey and lemon dont cut it Smile

Belly is growing a little more but still looks like podge more than a baby. My dad saw me and politely mentioned i was gaining a bit of weight...he had forgotten i was 5 months pregnant Smile only put on 5 pounds so far so think its ok but nows the time it doubles right?

PhieEl06 · 19/03/2013 19:30

Evening all, very very hormonal today, cried all the way home from work & haven't stopped since, feeling a bit low & everything is really getting on top of me at the moment, might mention it to my midwife when I go for my next antenatal on Thursday but I do feel like I'm just being stupid & it will blow over. Hmm can anyone cheer me up with jokes or anything?
Hope everyone is well! 22+3 I think Confused

Guavasforbreakfast · 19/03/2013 19:35

bigbelly it is a bit miserable having to focus on the troublemakers and classes are too big - I've got 33! But if your dc's teacher is a good one, he'll be very aware of those quiet ones too - we are quizzed at regular progress meetings about all children and I'm actually more aware of those quiet middle ones in case they get lost in the madness!

Check whether the teacher does guided reading - I find it much more effective to a good half hour of unpicking a text together in a small group than having to rush through a few minutes of hearing each child read individually. So they're still being 'heard' read by themselves, but they get the chance to bounce ideas off others and get a better understanding of what they're reading.

Also I'd be much more worried if the Literacy and Numeracy books weren't marked than the homework. If I'm pressed for time that's what I prioritise as that's what helps me spot their needs - it's hard to tell how much support is given for homework. Maybe ask to see those books at parents evening?

Hope that helps and doesn't make it worse - I'm not a parent (yet Grin) so can only speak from this side! Hope parents evening goes well, as someone else said I would prefer parents be honest about concerns so I can either reassure them or deal with the issue!

bigbelly4 · 19/03/2013 19:46

Evening ladies, well my hormonal crying has continued throughout the day, topped off with ds1s school concert!

Headteacher phoned me listened to my concerns but not overly confident things will change. Guess I will know how shes doing when she does her sats - boo hiss! Only 18 in class so should have a bit of one to one/small group reading. Generally really happy with school and both ds1+2 are happy and settled.

Phie - im with you! A complete blubbering mess today, really down and either in tears or angry! It will pass, although it doesnt seem like it at the time.

So basically bath and bed is the plan for me

dinkystinky · 19/03/2013 20:23

Ah bigbelly, in a class of 18 did really should be able to feel supported, so now I see why you are so upset by it all. Its good the head teacher called you and hopefully you will see improvement from here on in.

Phie - are you tired? I find my hormones can drive my mood really low when tired. See if you can have a nice relaxing evening and an early night and if it helps at all. If not, please do mention to MW - hopefully she will reassure you that you are not alone.

Paolocee - sounds all go at your place. Hope the cat recovers well.

Cheek - I have put on 2 stone so far - and am not eating for two. Judging by my shape its all bump and boobs too. Not much I can do about it - and I know its the way I carry (am short with short body). We all carry differently but your bump will suddenly appear soon.
