Hi firsttime I'm another first timer :)

I know I'm not meant to be being all anxious, but I still am! Can't stop thinking about my next test and whether it's all still going ok!! I felt really dizzy and nauseous on Monday but I feel good today which is making me worried that my hormone levels are dropping? Or does it just vary? I'm only 14dpo today.

Alexandra6 · 20/03/2013 22:02

Oh and cheeky OH mother!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/03/2013 22:10

I couldn't stomach my dinner tonight. I felt sick before it came out of the oven, and only managed half a plate. When I got home, I had a toast. That's it for my entire evening. I'm getting worried about the lack of nutrition despite reassurances from the midwife Sad

Ended the evening curled up on the sofa in front of one born every minute. I got to the point where the lady had her daughter stuck in the birth canal and I couldn't watch anymore. I should have learned my lessons last time and turn the tv off when OBEM comes on.

On the good news front, I ordered my free graze box. Feeling very virtuous.

harverina · 20/03/2013 22:11

Wow so many new people...hi! I'm struggling to keep up when at work!

TiredFeet · 20/03/2013 22:14

hello, tentatively asking to join the thread please Smile . Taken two tests now so starting to believe its true

edd is 21st November, and its my second child. I swear DS knows, he keeps asking me about babies! DH is away so I had a very small and chatty audience while I waited for the test result...

its a semi suprise, we had started trying but then life got so busy and stressful it sort of went on the back burner and I was actually assuming my period was late due to stress but thought I had better take a test 'just in case'! It took ages to get pregnant the first time round so this is a pleasant suprise Smile

I had hyperemesis the first time though so I am a bit nervous about what the next weeks will bring

Hello and congrats to all the new people!

TiredFeet · 20/03/2013 22:32

hi suffolk Smile how are you doing so far? and how are you coping with having a child to look after already?

firsttimemummyy · 20/03/2013 22:34

Hello! Also just watched One Born... never sure if its a good idea to watch it or not (DH thinks not!), but I do enjoy it!!

MotherofCleo that's such a good idea to go for an early scan.. I hadn't really though about it but I might investigate tomorrow. I guess I'll have to pay but it would be reassuring to know everything's going ok. I am not even letting myself get excited about this yet because I'm so scared of the risk of miscarriage.. but I think seeing a heartbeat etc (even if it does look like a grape/blueberry!) would make me feel a bit better

artyone · 20/03/2013 22:51

Hello firsttime Welcome and congrats.

I am a first timer too and I'm 25 so most of my friends have not had any, so I know what you mean, it's hard with no one who's been through it to talk to.

JBrd Those are all brilliant. It's family on Sunday and they will likely buy me drinks so i'll have to go with an excuse, but hopefully no one will quiz me too much. I've already checked out the menu in advance too to make sure I don't order anything I'm not supposed to eat.

I finally told someone today (other than my OH of course). I'm getting married later this year so I had to tell a friend who is making my dress as there will need to be some changes! oops. Was glad to tell someone, but it's nerve racking telling anyone this early.

What is everyone craving? I've had a thing for Avacado and southern fried chicken lately.

Has anyone thought about names yet? It's ridiculously early I know, but I just can't help it.

MotherOfCleo · 20/03/2013 22:53

thats exactly what we thought first, plus my OH doesnt want to tell anyone till after the scan and i really want to tell my mum.

My besty is a doctor and is the one person - apart fron OH - that Ive told, she was thrilled for us but said to be prepared for the worst which was scary! She said to 10 weeks is a good point to reach as the unmentionable normally happens before then. I am terrified all the time of each tiny twinge/cramp etc. FX for all of us!

MotherOfCleo · 20/03/2013 22:58

arty I made the mistake of posting our current name choices in the baby names boards and they didnt get well recieved. Confused I dont really care though, I kind of like to be a non conformer, Smile not that our names are even what you would call 'out their'.

harverina · 20/03/2013 23:08

Wow so many new people...hi! I'm struggling to keep up when at work!

Saundy you made me laugh out loud! Avoided smoked salmon today as its making me boak Hmm have two big packets in the fridge as I was craving it badly but not sure i can face it ever again!

Motherofcleo the sides of my boobs were sooo sore yesterday - same as you, a good bit away from underwire. No pains near arms though.

Alwaystheauntie a work friend of mine has diabetes and has been able to control it really well during pregnancy. Baby is growing normal etc

Omg totally the same with major over eating! I lost weight in first trimester last time. I remember eating lots of crisps when I felt sick. This time I can't get enough crisps again but I could eat all day and have been!! I too am slightly worried. I lost 2 stone on weight watchers and need to lose another 2.5 and I really don't want to get massive again. My dh thinks he urge to eat will pass though. I keep saying I will try to find healthier snacks but when it comes to it nothing will stand in between me and meaty, salty crisps or a creme egg!!

I had to unbutton my jeans in work today, my tummy feels huge. Do you tend to show quicker with second babies? Or is it just all the crap I am eating? Feeling a bit crap about how I look - feel my hair is lank and I'm getting sore spots on my face.

Minesahotchoc I am freezing too a lot of the time especially in bed at night. My dh is working away till Friday too and I have been desperate to snuggle in to him at night to get a heat! Same as you though, lack of sleep does not help. Do you sleep the same when your dh is away? I def don't sleep as well. Can't wait till my dh is back on Friday night so that I can relax and have a long lie on Saturday - he will definitely be l getting up with dd!! (Also age 2 but nearly 3)

First timemum vegetables make me gag just now which is really weird as I ate loads before - loads and loads and now just looking at them makes me want to be sick Shock

Can I ask those of you constipated and using lactulose - can you get it over the counter or does it have to be prescribed? After having awful diorrhea for 2 weeks I am a bit constipated and think its adding to me feeling a bit yuk.

Wow sorry for huge post there was just so much to catch up on. Honey hope u are ok tonight, thinking of you - can you not just turn up at maternity unit if you are bleeding?

harverina · 20/03/2013 23:09

Oh and think I am 7 + 4 today Grin

artyone · 20/03/2013 23:20

MotherOfCleo Pah, go with whatever you want. People are always going to prefer the popular/trendy names.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/03/2013 23:23

motherofcleo ignore the baby names board. If you post a name that is popular or not posh, you will get lynched there.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/03/2013 23:35

For example, I dislike the criticisms on names being too working class. Not everyone wants a child called Hugh or Ptolemy! (Not sure what your choices are but you mentioned it being not too popular, so I guess it's been put down as not public school enough).

The other I don't like is talking down popular names. They are popular because they are liked my many! The put down is usually along the lines of I can't imagine a lawyer called Poppy. But no ofc not because they are names of this 2010 generation. There will be lawyers named Poppy in 20 years.

artyone · 20/03/2013 23:38

OneLittleToddleTerror FWIW I love the name Poppy and can totally imagine a strong lawyer Poppy in 25 years time.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/03/2013 23:39

This remind me of a boy at my DD swimming class. He is called a name deride as chavy on the baby names board. I noticed his dad drive a Porsche sports car two weeks ago. (He parked next to mine and i was admiring his car) Blush. Last week he was in his Mercedes family car. His wife obviously doesn't read MN, and didn't get the agenda that their boys name is chavy.

artyone · 20/03/2013 23:44

I actually knew a guy at uni called Xavier (pronounced HAV-I-AIR), his nickname/chosen name was Chavvy. He was Spanish though, so it probably didn't have the same meaning.

artyone · 20/03/2013 23:46

Personally I don't think it matters too much, unless a name is truly tasteless. A child will make a name their own and names will go in and out of fashion. We don't look back on 1920s names and think that some are really 'common'.

honey86 · 20/03/2013 23:53

i think its shocking how completely stuck up some mothers are tbf. its your choice not theirs.

thanks for your support ladies, crampings still on n off but touch wood the bleeding has properly stopped now. still getting awful nausea so im guessing thats a good sign?

i thought i was invincible when i felt better earlier, so ate a big cheesey bites bbq meat feast pizza from pizza hut earlier...... my stomach REALLY didnt appreciate that Blush

hope ur all well xx

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/03/2013 23:56

arty I think there is quite a bit of snobbery on names on the baby names board. I am reading it atm as I am looking for inspirations. But I think some of the regulars there only approves if you conform. They generally prefer names that are slightly unusual, 'classic' and sound like someone who shops at waitrose.
