Hi,

And congrats!:)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 15/03/2013 15:17

So many scans cheese saundy & ruby congrats I'm glad they went well.

Welcome vipbaba

I am so knackered at work it is unbelievable and I keep dry heaving everywhere I go. I think I might have put on a few pounds so far, with the amount I've been eating I'm surprised its not been 1/2 stone.

Have started telling people since I had the scan but only my boss and hr know at work. Getting a bit worried about work as I have to drive everywhere as part of work and fatigue and driving are not a good mix.

getoffthecoffeetable · 15/03/2013 15:32

Congratulations ruby

Dizzy81 · 15/03/2013 16:14

Congrats Ruby!

harverina · 15/03/2013 16:25

Welcome vipbaba and congratulations!

Williamina I am in the west (about 16 miles from city centre) and guess what I had in work this morning (major treat)...a roll with square sausage and potato scone mmmmmm!!! Never have that when not pregnant as usually count my ww points but not anymore!! Where did u stay in Glasgow?

Great news to those of you with scans today lovely to hear things are going well. I cannot wait for mine, ages to wait!! 24 April feels like years away!

I think I might get a couple of books too and start reading about it all again. I can hardly remember all the little things from my last pregnancy so be good to remind me what is normal or worrying.

DittyRatt · 15/03/2013 16:40

Afternoon all. Welcome newbies.
Well my internet goes down for a day and look what I've got to catch up on, you bunch of chatterboxes.

Getoff nope no secret stash, DH threw them all in the bin Sad , so i may have to buy one and keep it in my handbag or something. Grin

Cheese nope not yet, see to have gone off food it smells vial, having to force it down me at the minute, but this should pass by the second trimester . i have i feeling it wont be long before the washing powder craving comes though as i keep having a smell of it.

Bizzy maybe the letter they are sending is your scan date.

Snowdrop so sorry to hear, take care of yourself. Flowers

Saundy · 15/03/2013 16:57

Congrats Ruby it's a huge weight off isn't it.

I was so taken aback by the scan & relieved about everything that I totally forgot to ask what what is safe pain relief - duh. It's really kicking in again & I'm not sure if I'm just supposed to get on with it. Anyone got any knowledge or experience of this?!

williaminajetfighter · 15/03/2013 16:58

harverina - am jealous! The potato scones from the cafe when I worked at the University were particularly lovely!

I was in Glasgow West, by KG park and museum. Sigh! My DD is slowly losing her accent which makes me especially sad!

PoppySeedBun · 15/03/2013 17:39

Hello all - back from my scan, and everything is fine Grin
Couldn't see very much at all - and definitely not a heartbeat - it's just too small at 5+6. But it's in the right place, not ectopic, so nothing to worry about.
Not sure now why my GP didn't suggest just waiting a week so there was more to see, but I suppose better to be safe.

saundy I did ask about pain relief - both nurse today and GP said only thing is paracetamol, up to 1g (2 tablets). No aspirin or ibuprofen allowed.

Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone!

Dizzy81 · 15/03/2013 17:41

I've got stretch marks on my boobies! Yep I am fasinated with them at the moment,

Another by the by symptomless free day - apart from a few cramps/tugs on the right side, sore boobies and a bit of light headiness. Should I be worried?

I think I shall take the stance on the scan in 12 days that what ever happens happens.

IOn a more positive note, congrats to all those who've had positive results from scans.

PassTheCremeEggs · 15/03/2013 17:43

Hello all, please may I join in?

I'm due, I think, on 9 November and this will be my second baby. I had an early scan because I had a bit of pain, nothing could be seen but they tested my hormone levels and all is increasing as normal which is good and hopefully suggests it's in the right place - fingers crossed! I have another scan to check on 25th.

Great thread - cant believe there are so many people already - congratulations everyone!

Saundy · 15/03/2013 17:56

Congrats on the good news poppy - yey good news all round! I was told that it was unusual to see the heartbeat at 6 weeks so its quite normal that you didn't even earlier.

Good call on the pain relief I'm glad one of us kept their heads. I didn't ask anything at all.

Welcome PTCE I'm sorry you didn't get all the reassurance you wanted at yours - but no news is good news as they say. I'm sure it'll be the 25th before you know it.

My Tracey Anderson: The Pregnancy Ptoject DVD has just arrived, really CBA - maybe I'll just watch it the first time haha.

MummaPanda · 15/03/2013 18:16

I know this is a crazy question but those of you with 2 or more, how early did you feel movement? Cos I swear I can feel exactly what I felt with early movement of dd, surely can't be this soon???

Congrats to all those with good scans today.

ilovemilton glad you got such a great reaction from your mum, mine was similar although I think she is also a bit worried as we're still early days.

Hospital has just sent me confirmation of my early scan date and moved it forward by a day - better news for me!

Welcome to vipbaba and passthecremeeggs

VipBaba · 15/03/2013 19:02

Congratulations PSB

Thank you everyone for the messages.

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 15/03/2013 19:09

Purple kiwi, yeah... I think she is worried too, but isn't giving me that. She talked to my best friend!! But I think she is basing her concerns on how hard it was for her as a single mum and doesn't want me to have to through all the nastiness... Then again, that was years ago so things have changed. I'm excited!!

MotherOfCleo · 15/03/2013 19:20

Hum how are people breaking the news? So far me and OH have told our best friends but thats it. Hmm I want to tell my folks but he wants to wait till the scan, or at least till Ive seen the midwife. Its hard though as I dont want them to think we kept it from them, also it would be nice to be able to talk to my mum about it. Also I have my big 30th birthday party next saturday and even though Ive found non alcohlic cider I think i'll be expected to do champagne toasts etc.....not sure how to get out of it? If I tell my folks and my brother then between me, my OH, my best friend and my brother I should have enough people to ensure my drink is always full of non alcoholic stuff. Its such a tricky one, plus I wouldnt know how to bring it up. Confused

MotherOfCleo · 15/03/2013 19:22

p.s uber jealous of all the early scans! Anyone know when I should expect to see the midwife and what happens at the first few appointments?

harverina · 15/03/2013 19:29

Dizzy i wouldn't worry as you do have symptoms! If you weren't pregnant you would be worried if you had pains/twinges, sore boobs and dizziness,so definitely pregnancy symptoms. My symptoms sound very similar to yours. I've not been as dizzy this week but it hits me periodically. The only other thing is that I feel very sick at times but it just hits me and doesn't last beyond an hour or so at a time. You are just maybe expecting worse and that's why your conscious about it.

Williamina you loved Obama beautiful part of the city. We often go to kg park in the summer it's gorgeous. When dd was very new we spent time in the park with her lying in the sun while she breastfed and napped. I have very happy memories of that summer in various Glasgow parks.

We are in McDonald's just now. My dh is home tonight and I promised dd she could stay up late so that we could pick him up. Dd is in the play area. She has severe allergies and McDonald's is one of the few places she can eat out. I have to say I do worry about dc2 having allergies too.

harverina · 15/03/2013 19:29

In a not Obama hahaha!!!

harverina · 15/03/2013 19:40

Motherofcleo I'd be inclined to tell them if it would make things easier and you were not desperate to keep it a secret. If you really don't want them to know then its ok to keep it private, it's a very private thing.

I have told 7 friends and my immediate family. I will tell others after the 12 week scan. The friends I told are my closest friends, a couple of good friends that I told through circumstances as was at a hen night, and two close work friends. I was desperate to tell someone else! I told a couple of people in work as the job I do can be stressful and last time round I wished I had confided in a couple of close colleagues so that someone knew if I was feeling a bit rubbish.

PurpleKiwi · 15/03/2013 19:53

Motherofcleo, I think you normally get your notes at your booking in appt (between 10-12 weeks) and they'll go through your medical history. I think I had some bloods taken at this point too. Then its the 12 week and 16 week scans. I had some midwife appts after the 12 week scan but it was pretty much just checking bp and how big my tummy was measuring. HTH Smile

MummaPanda · 15/03/2013 20:01

16week scan??? I never had that with dd, only 12week and 20week Sad

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 15/03/2013 20:01

oh thanks purple for some reason I was expecting something at 8 weeks, 10 weeks seems forever away! Confused

PassTheCremeEggs · 15/03/2013 20:13

Motherofcleo - I had a GP appointment around 8 weeks. He took basic details, did blood test (I think) and sent off the referral to hospital for the 12 week scan. I then had the proper booking in appointment with midwife at 10 weeks where they ask you tons of questions about medical history, family circs etc etc, give you your notes, and do urine test/blood pressure which then happens at all other antenatal appointments. I then saw midwife roughly every four weeks (unless there was a scan) - so midwife around 16 weeks, scan 20 weeks, midwife 24, 28, 32, 36, 38 and 40 weeks. Towards the end it's more frequent and if you go overdue you have to see them every week at least. Hope this helps!

Ps I never had a 16 week scan either - the wait between 12 and 20 was interminable!
