Great news Cheese.

7+1 (I think, I'm rubbish at working it out) and after feeling sick for a week I finally threw up this morning! I've just been to Asda and had to open a drink half way round (mn flaming due) as I felt really wobbly. At least if I'm feeling crap all those hormones must be doing their job and making tadpole stick.

We've told parents and siblings (and I think my mum has blabbed to her best friend because she was being a bit "weird" when I saw her the other day- nice weird, but I'm guessing she knows as mum can't hold her own water).

Anyone buying/bought pregnancy books? I recommend The Day By Day Pregnancy Book by Maggie Blott. It's really detailed and I've been enjoying seeing all the tiny changes shown in the book and it's reminded me that there is really something happening in there! Grin

pegster · 15/03/2013 12:06

My god, can't believe how many posts there are on this second thread already, have only had time to skim through! Congrats to those who've had positive early scans, would love to have the chance to check on the little bean
Haven't told anyone except my osteopath but my parents & sister have guessed because I wasn't drinking at my DSis birthday meal the other night. Lots of nudging & winking though I refused to confirm anything Wink

Fairydogmother · 15/03/2013 12:09

i got that 'what to expect when you're expecting' but i find the layout really confusing! wouldnt really recommend it. i'll look for that one you recommend misty.

i feel grand today but a bit nervous about holding this baby later! i havent held a wee newborn since my niece was born 18 years ago!

getoffthecoffeetable · 15/03/2013 12:20

surprise I'm sure that they'll all be happy for you ( except your boss) but it'll take some getting used to.
Visitors will be at our house so can do what I did at DS's birthday and make pretend g and t's with just t's. it's the tiredness and nausea that I'll have difficulties with. Will wing it, managed to trick them early pregnancy last time and I was much worse!

Saundy · 15/03/2013 12:30

Congrats Cheese I bet thats a weight off.

Mine went well too, saw a little blob with its heart ticking away - everything in the right place. Turns out my pain is down to one of those corpus luteum cysts but it is easing which is good.

Just Poppy to report back, fingers crossed the good news is coming in three's.

GinSling82 · 15/03/2013 12:30

Thanks for the recommendation of the book Misty. I fancied getting one but wasn't sure where to start.

I've got a cracking headache todayHmm. Starting work a 2pm and working late. Then I have two 13 hour shifts over the weekend. Whoever said they were wishing for a lottery win I completely second that!! I really didn't expect early pregnancy to interfere with life and work so much. I just don't feel like I can cope with anything. I'm in awe if those of you with little ones and getting no sleep!

GinSling82 · 15/03/2013 12:32

Congratulations on the scan Saundry. Must have been nice to see your little bean! Smile

Fairydogmother · 15/03/2013 12:36

congrats saundy! i cannot wait for my scans!

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 15/03/2013 12:37

Purplekiwi, I noticed your last update. Forgot to include, this is baby number 1. Told my mum last night and was proper freaking out about her reaction, but she was so excited. Grin

I have rang the doctors today, and they want me to do a sample for them, then will arrange midwife. Exciting!!

Is anyone looking forward to having a scan?? As much as I don't like being touched, this excites me.

It's all getting so real!!

GinSling82 · 15/03/2013 12:40

Fairy when is your scan booked for?

I've ended up bringing mine forward to 28th March when I'll be 8 weeks was originally a week later but so keen to see a scan, especially with all the good news on here. Fx it will be the same for me.

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 15/03/2013 12:41

Mistyshore,

The works had a sale on the other day here and most books were 25p. If you want a laugh and an advice book written by a man for men, which makes us women feel awesome check out The A-Z of having a baby by Jeff Green!
Also picked one up called making babies by Ann Enright which is good too!

Fairydogmother · 15/03/2013 12:48

Gin we went and booked a private scan for 28 March too! And then of course got a letter about the hospital scan a few days later lol. Its on 9 April but we've decided to have both since we've paid a deposit.

I'll be 7+6 at the first one by my reckoning.

I'm a mixture of terrified and mega excited

MTB82 · 15/03/2013 12:58

Congrats to those with successful scans. Still keeping my fingers crossed for those yet to hear back from.

Maybe we should start up a lotto syndicate so we can all just be PG in peace Smile

Had a little "talk" with my little bean last night to say do what you have to do and work really hard to grow big and healthy and strong even of that means making me poorly.....feeling a bit nauseous today for the first time in a few weeks so maybe it listened LOL.

Saundy · 15/03/2013 12:58

Thanks guys.

I know what you mean Gin I thought this was the easy part!! I didn't expect to feel so tired all the time, this has totally wiped me. Haven't spontaneously cried for no good reason in 3 days though so that's progress!

ILMIMBF I hate being touched too but it is great to see the little blob and realise that's inside you. You can't help but smile & I totally forgot someone had a camera up me! Its nuts.

PoppySeedBun · 15/03/2013 13:01

My scan is later this afternoon - 3:45 - so hoping I get good news along with cheese and saundy - congrats to you both!

On books, I got a Kindle copy of What to Expect after a false alarm a couple of years ago. They layout is a bit confusing, but it seems very comprehensive and has dealt with just about every question I've thrown at it so far. I also like having it on kindle: means I can have a discreet peek at it on my phone when I'm at work or out and about (or, like last week when we were on holiday and got the BFP).

Must be feeling positive about the scan, tho - booked appointment with my consultant for 10 weeks this morning Smile

VipBaba · 15/03/2013 13:03

Hi all

I'm new on here. EDD is the 7th Nov Baby No 1. Very nervous

Saundy · 15/03/2013 13:08

Hi VIPBaba

Not long to go now Poppy

Are there any good books for men, men as in men and not lads if you know what I mean?

PoppySeedBun · 15/03/2013 13:12

Welcome VipBaba - my first time too.
Any symptoms to share so far? I haven't got much (yet) except slight nausea and a bit of indigestion and wind. Oh, and lots of tiredness, but that's also not being helped by a cold I have at the moment (which is why I'm off work and on here in the middle of the day Grin)

PoppySeedBun · 15/03/2013 13:21

Just came across this video on YouTube that gives an idea of what you'll see at 5,6,7,8,and 9 week scans (it's a maternity training video) - maybe helpful for those waiting for scans and wondering what to expect?

Fairydogmother · 15/03/2013 13:24

hi and congrats vip

its my first too Smile

Saundy · 15/03/2013 13:29

Yeah there was nothing that looked even remotely like a baby today. Just a splodge & little flickering light that was the heart beating, its still only 2mm!

VipBaba · 15/03/2013 13:30

Hi PoppySeedBun

Thank you. Feeling really rough. Nausea not going away and being sick all hrs if the day:(. And got the cold too...and not at work too. Feel bad as just come back from a 3 week holiday.

PoppySeedBun · 15/03/2013 13:49

Poor you VipBaba
Try not to feel bad about work - if you're not up to it then you wouldn't be much use there anyway. Sorry you're being so sick as well. Lots of tips in here from others who are suffering too - hang in there.

RubyWindsor · 15/03/2013 14:49

Hi all had my scan this morning!
All ok Grin everything in the right place and a lovely little heartbeat to look at!
They said my spotting was probably implantation bleeding so nothing to worry about which I think I already knew, I just needed it confirming!

Congrats to the others with their scans today, these little ones are giving us some worries aren't they!

MTB82 · 15/03/2013 15:03

Congrats Ruby great news!!!
