Here you go. New thread...number 3!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Natalieand · 08/03/2013 04:34

Ahhhh u say they roxvox but I had no different symptoms when carrying two as I do now with one and also my sister has twins and her symptoms were no different so don't rule it out yet lol xx

pinksky · 08/03/2013 06:49

cuille I'm sorry about your scan, how are you feeling? Obviously it's great that the other one is doing well, but sad still. Glad you've got some time off work X

The chat about testing has been interesting. And it's good that we can all discuss things openly. Such personal decisions and no right or wrong, although an emotive subject. I realised I hadn't really discussed it with DH so will need to do that at some point.

roxvox I won't get my scan til mid April - feels forever away!

cuillereasoupe · 08/03/2013 08:34

I'm feeling OK actually as I'd been googling and more or less expected it. Much scarier was realising that the fertility clinic only decided to take us on because I accidentally fibbed about how regular my cycles were. It really was by the skin of our teeth.

Haylebop12 · 08/03/2013 09:01

Hope you feeling ok cullie it must be difficult hearing such sad news but at the same time being happy for another healthy bean.

Got my booking in at 9:30, I'm armed with a sample and DH's shifts ready to book my scan! Eeek!

slippysnow · 08/03/2013 09:11

Morning everyone,
Just told my mum and dad about the pregnancy, unfortunately I didn't get the reaction I wanted from my mum. She was 'disappointed', my age (22) career (what career!) and as I don't have a house of my own (currently living with my dp's parents until we find a place of our own, but aren't rushing into it). My dad on the other hand was shocked but happy. I'm pretty sad about it but trying not to think about it now. She's had a virus so maybe I should've waited for another day but I reckon unless I waited until I was 28 she would've had the same reaction.

Glad I didn't tell her on Mother's Day like I thought about! Haha

Sal1977 · 08/03/2013 09:11

Ok, so this is for those who are worrying about lack of symptoms etc.

Saw my midwife last night (we're good friends and were in z night out) and I said I was a bit worried about not having any MS. She said to think myself lucky and it was perfectly normal... Next question was that should I be worried that at nearly 9 weeks my boobs don't hurt as much? She said nope as they settle down and that's generally how that will start. You probably won't wake up one morning and they stop hurting completely (although that can happen) the tenderness will just gradually subside and you'll have days where they don't hurt and then they do etc.
I then said that I'm scared that I'll get to the 12 week scan and there will be nothing there. She said that there is not a pregnant person alive that doesn't feel the same and it is rate for that to happen. If you are not bleeding and in pain, you have absolutely no reason to believe there is a problem!
My final question was that when I'm walking for more than 10 minutes, my lower back (hip area) aches quite a bit. She said its because of the hormones relaxing everything so it'd all looser. Same reason that pregnant ladies waddle!
Phew!

Sal1977 · 08/03/2013 09:16

Aaaww Slippy, what s shame. Give them time and they'll come round and will be mega excited soon I bet!

If its any consolation, my mum always told my sister and me not to waste our 20's on having babies. My sister was 30 when she had her first and I'm gonna be 36 when this one arrives! (And I still don't feel old enough to be responsible for someone else! Lol)

slippysnow · 08/03/2013 09:19

Thanks for the reassurance. My mums a bit of a hypocrite as she had her first at 25! But I really hope she comes round, I can't deal with her being sad when I'm so excited.

Sephy · 08/03/2013 09:41

Aw slippy sorry to hear about your mum's reaction. I think mine might be a bit like that too - although I am 27. She had me at 30 and I think she's always been a bit sad it killed her career. It's hard to get across that even if this is the end of my career I don't really mind - I really want to be a mum!
Will have to see though - not planning to tell family until we see them at Easter time.

Haylebop12 · 08/03/2013 09:46

Sorry you didn't get the reaction you wanted slippy they will definitely come round!

I got pg with dd at 20 to someone I lived 100 miles from. They were ok but I'm lucky my DH is 6 years older and has a good career himself.

Well they had no knowledge of my appt so have slotted me in but with 3 other pg women in the waiting room I think I'm in for a long wait!

roxvox · 08/03/2013 10:13

Sorry slippy. I am sure your parents will come around to the idea and will love their grandchild with all of their hearts. It might just take a while for it to sink in if they really weren't expecting it.

sal1977 I enjoyed reading that thank you! It gave me peace of mind as I sit here with my lower back throbbing and no other symptoms! Maybe we are just the lucky ones (there has to be some, right?!)

haylebop I hope you aren't waiting too long and that you have a good appointment.

I think I'm going to have cod and chips for tea tonight (maybe even a sausage in batter as someone on here mentioned yesterday). And I might try that alcohol free Becks Blue. Has anyone tried it before?

I hope everyone is doing well today!

Wispa123 · 08/03/2013 10:22

I NEED chocolate weetabix!!!
Slippy - fingers crossed things will improve. Once they realise they're going to have a beautiful grandchild they will hopefully by over the moon!
Sal - Sounds like you and I are having similar symptoms (sure many are!). My boobs are definitely settling down thank god! No date for my 12 week scan yet but looking out of the window for the postie as we speak!
Cullie - sad sad news, hope you're ok but still good news in a way that you still have a healthy little bean. Hope everything goes well over the next few weeks.
Any funny cravings yet?

pinksky · 08/03/2013 10:32

Sorry about your mum, slippy- I'm sure she'll come round. There is NEVER a perfect time to have a baby!

God I am absolutely desperate for fish and chips now. Going out for dinner tonight but maybe tomorrow...

pinkbuttons · 08/03/2013 10:47

sorry about your mums reaction slippy my parents were the same when I got pregnant with DS but that was in a different situation. They were just worried about me, as soon as they realised it was going to be ok and I was happy they were excited and now dote on DS. My mum was more upset about being a nanny at 40 Grin
cuillerea sorry to hear about your mixed news but am glad one little bean is doing well.
I have joined the trial and have an extra scan next week! very excited. then will only be a week till my 12 week scan. Feeling very greedy Smile

Haylebop12 · 08/03/2013 10:48

roxvox I remember trying necks blue when pg with dd..... Vile stuff! They might have improved it since then Hmm

Well I waited 40 mins, got called in and she asked me for my notes... When I said this was my first appt she apologised an said she would need about half an hour with me. There were 5 other women waiting outside so she gave me my bounty pack, told me to fill out what I could and se would come to my house around 12:30. So I'm getting a home visit now Smile she seems lovely though.

SeriousStuff · 08/03/2013 11:29

roxvox I tried Becks Blue a couple of weeks ago because I was enjoying the smell of my DH's beer! I was very disappointed. I had about 5 sips in all and the aftertaste was just awful. There are three bottles in the fridge and I still feel sick when I see them.

Having said that, some women on here swear by it so I guess it depends how your taste buds react!

TheFalconsmistress · 08/03/2013 11:39

Woke up at 4.am in agony, scared the life out of DH it turned out to be gas and a full bladder Blush bump did not seem to like it!!

culli sorry about your scan news Thanks

Natalieand · 08/03/2013 12:45

Had a seriously upset stomache for week 4 and 5 thought I was past it but it seems its taken ahold of me again :-(. God only knows how u lot cope with the sickness I think that would be worse xx

Natalieand · 08/03/2013 12:51

Sorry for such an insensitive post I posted that at like 4am then before all the other message yet some reason its only just gone on sorry I as being in sensitive and ignoring every one else's comments/problems will catch up later with them me and dd r gunna have a cheeky nap now xx

Wispa123 · 08/03/2013 13:07

Falcon I had a really scary night a couple of weeks ago and truned out to be exactly the same thing...really bad painful trapped wind! Yuck! Been drinking loads of peppermeint tea to try to ease things. That and Gaviscon / Deflatine seems to help a little.

In other news, despite feeling really crappy (been off work all week with flu...following a flu jab last week) I dragged myself to Asda to by choc chip weetabix...2 bowls later!!! Haha!

cuillereasoupe · 08/03/2013 13:14

I'm craving chicken gizzards. How's that for random ;-)

thethreeblondies · 08/03/2013 13:31

Last 2 nights at work I've been in pain with high indegestion cramps, really uncomfortable!

Had a bit of a bleed on weds evening (after rushing around at home and work) brown/red, saw gp and contacted midwife thurs morning and was booked in to EPU this morning.

I'm pleased to say everything is looking good, good position at the top of uterus, nice strong heartbeat (although needed massive zoom in for me to see it!) and little paddles for arms and legs, dated at 7 + 4 so only a day or 2 away from what I thought Grin

34PinkLadyApple · 08/03/2013 14:51

Indegestion here too and bloating. Keep having to go into another room to 'relieve it' at home and in the loos at work.

I'm 10.4 today and yesterday when I got home I noticed my feet were really swollen to point where you could see where the straps on my shoes were still when i went to bed! Same shoes as noraml and no extra standing around, walking etc. they went down by this morning and I've worn super soft loose ballet type ones today and they are swollen again! Surely I shouldnt be getting swollen feet yet?

In other news, was clearing out a draw last night and found a Preg test so I did it thismorning! BFP. Blush

birds and jelly we are 12 week scan buddies!

JethroTull · 08/03/2013 15:55

I lurk on this thread but wanted to say thanks to Sal for passing on the words of wisdom from her midwife Grin. Lovely to read a bit of reassurance.

I'm 9+5 and just tired. Hasn't helped that my husband has been away all week & we have a very energetic Boxer dog that has been demanding my attention. I have also developed a chocolate addiction.

BowlFullofJelly · 08/03/2013 16:02

Can I moan? After feeling really good most of this week am now back to feeling crap. Have been nauseous all day, and constantly burping and farting Blush. And 34Pink - I'm the same! Have boots on today which are not tight, and have to keep taking them off because my ankles are all swollen and itchy. Can't concentrate - has taken me about 5 hours to do a report that should have taken 2, because kept forgetting where I had got to so had to start again Angry. Ok, moan over!

Great news on the scan blondies

Roxvox it was me that mentioned the battered sausage - and it was amazing! They normally make me a bit boaky to be frank, but did the job last night!

Anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend and Mothers day?
