well it seems to be worse than we thought. not only is the fold measurement over what it should be there is also other excess fluid. two different things she said but both are around the neck area. she didn't give me much hope of a positive out come made it seem like its more than likely there will be something wrong. she said its most likely my results will come back as high risk.

oh Sparks back ache is no fun. have you tried supporting it with a spare pillow? I have one between my knees and under bump so I stay in a good position. You can also have paracetamol to help?

Cartoon I agree with Sparks I know it is hard, but let's see the actual results then work from there. Thanks it could be that they are erring on the side of caution and you may have only a medium risk??

cartoon sorry to hear that you're still having a stressful pregnancy. I'm brooking that mini-cartoon is just preparing you for the next 18+ years of worrying about him/her cos that's what parents do, not because there's anything wrong. How long do you have to wait for the combined result?

Report
cartoontrickster · 08/03/2013 07:56

beedle she seemed to think that I would get a phone call either today or Monday with the result.
sparks that's a much better way of looking at things.
the screening midwife has absolutly terrified me. I know she has to give us all the information but my god.
talking about Edwards and patau which I knew nothing about. she made it clear that babies can't always live with some of these things. why am I being told all this when my results aren't even back yet.

cartoon Just echoing what the others have said, try not to worry until you have the full facts. Unfortunately I think its fairly common for us medical types to dwell on the worst case scenario but as sparks said even a 1 in 10 means a 90% chance of a healthy baby. Sending big hugs your way. Thanks

I have just realised I have not answered a couple of posts Blush

Musical Froot is next about 4 weeks then it is my turn :)

Scarlet they are measuring booby as just above the 95th centile for head and abdominal circumference Shock the Dr I spoke to about my diabetes said he thinks I had it last time but it didn't show on the tests. Toddly boo weighed in at a healthy 10lb 3.5oz (full term) and this one is similar but I am likely to be induced at 38 weeks so perhaps it won't have the same high birth weigh [hopeful emotion]

Cartoon brooking you get your call today and you can start getting the correct information.

I'm confused by this other fluid she kept talking about hopefully the consultant who will rescan me on Mon will explain better.
just been told Fil needs an op for a cancerous tumor in his bladder. things seem to be going from bad to worse x

cartoon, I am not going to be able to say much reassuring as things ended rather sadly for us (although DD1's NT was 11mm so much, much greater) but I can say that I know how you feel & the questions you must have. Sending you lots of hugs. I really hope the consultant can be reassuring on Monday. Sorry to hear about your FIL as well. You are having a really hard time.

cartoontrickster · 08/03/2013 14:41

bartlett I'm so sorry to hear that. I still feel there's so much I don't understand. no phone call as yet from the hospital. apparently they phone pretty quick if your high risk.
considering the harmony test but will wait until I have seen the consultant on Monday.
I am starting to lose faith that pebble will be our take home baby.

cartoontrickster · 08/03/2013 17:44

my sonographers report says skin oedema around the fetus, sorry should have put that.
but yes sparks that result was not as bad as I thought it might be. she said the bloods were all fine and it was just the measurement that had made it high.

Report
EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 08/03/2013 17:50

1 in 40, that's not too bad, that's a 97.5% chance of pebble not having it :) do you have any further tests to investigate the odema?

Report
cartoontrickster · 08/03/2013 17:57

boo that makes it sound miles better. we have an appointment first thing Monday with a fetal medicine specialist so will see what they say.
I'm not 100% but It could be quite a bad thing. I think ds might be the least of our worrys.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 08/03/2013 18:11

Of course, your FIL too, when does he have his surgery?? How is DH coping?

And Erm, did you say DS?? Wink

Report
EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 08/03/2013 18:16

Hang on, stupid alert, you mean DS for downs syndrome, I thought for a sneaky mo someone had seen something.

Report
cartoontrickster · 08/03/2013 18:20

haha I did wonder if I might confuse you with that abbreviation!
I think dh is ok considering, he's good at hiding his emotions though. fil hasn't heard yet when the op will be, I'm guessing soon though.
