Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

username I've taken to eating ice cream as it makes this one squirm with the cold. It's quite funny :)

fluffeh glad your scan went well.

wishful I just don't know who that last one is... otherwise I'd update the stats thread.

KelleStar · 14/03/2013 19:58

faith another one arrived this morning...

KelleStar · 14/03/2013 20:07

have added itsaruddygame to the stats list over here on MN.

toobreathless what is this nap time that you talk of? glad the packing is underway. A good friend moved two weeks ago, it's her due date today and she's all now unpacked and waiting... and waiting... :)

bext · 14/03/2013 20:21

Is it you Dysgu who has posted the gorgeous pic of your arrival? Hope so (based on your dates and location - call me Sherlock!) He's gorgeous, hope you are ok.

This thread is very exciting now, ladies!
xx

Fluffeh · 14/03/2013 20:23

faith yeah as happy as I can be. I like the arranging if that makes sense. It's good to have a definite delivery day. The anaesthetic bit is scary though. I'm high risk for the epidural or spinal, they say there's only a 10% chance of it being successful and if not it'll have to be a general, but that's still much safer than forceps to me :).

All the Facebook baby pictures are so cute! It's hard not to be stupidly excited looking at them!

Lyndaloo · 14/03/2013 20:30

Fluffeh I've got my section booked for 22nd too! 39 days, not that I'm counting lol!

JessieEssex · 14/03/2013 20:47

Hi all
Thanks for all your lovely words and thoughts on FB and here. Penelope is nearly a week old already - I can't believe it - and she amazing. Her big sister has come round to the idea, and is smitten too.

She has lost quite a bit of weight - down from 6lb9 to 6lb2 so we are on an intensive feeding up regime! She is a very competent little breastfeeder but gets so tired that she falls asleep after about 5 minutes. I have to do all sorts of things to keep her awake.

I've been trying to keep up with all your news, it's great to see some new arrivals and I hope that everyone else is doing ok in the build up to your big days!

MrsSimkins · 14/03/2013 21:20

Ooooo more arrivals! I can't believe we're here already, it only feels like a few weeks ago we were tentatively announcing our BFPs!
I had a good day today, scan showed my placenta is well out of the way so provided we don't go into labour before Monday (37 weeks) we are good to have the baby at the midwife led unit I wanted to go to! Plus got to see our little one again and he or she waved at us and then sucked their thumb! Just amazing to see!
Hope everyone's well and coping with the lovely aches and pains of the last leg of our pregnancy journey!
X

Dysgu · 14/03/2013 22:01

Hi all - yes, Evan David Nelson Langford made a quick, early arrival at 3.16 am this morning after something of a dash to the hospital! He weighs exactly 5 lb and is perfect.

I did have niggling pains at around 11pm but they were not hurting and as contractions had stopped on Tuesday I did not pay them much attention and headed to bed. I was woken with a GUSH at 2.05 am and within 5 minutes big contractions were coming. I timed a few and they seemed to be up to 90 seconds long and coming every 2 or 3 minutes so I woke DP about 2.25 am and called my parents to come over to be with DDs.

DDad headed over - but whilst living very close, the floating bridge that connects to two towns does not run between midnight and 5am so he had to drive the long way round and there are traffic works that cause a long diversion - even though there was very little traffic!

DDad arrived and we left home at 2.55 am. We are close to the hospital so were there by 3.05 am and I had been told when I called to head straight for Labour Ward and not maternity. As I walked in to Labour Ward they were just preparing a delivery room so I had an other contraction before climbing onto the bed. MW was connecting the monitor and trying to take my BP etc and I told her I needed to push. She told me all was fine and gave me the gas and air so I told DP to tell her I needed to push! They managed to undress me from the waist down after my second contraction on the bed.

I remember saying "it's coming. I promise you, it's coming" and she said yes, it was fine.

And there was a baby on the bed between my legs! We had been in the delivery room less than 10 minutes!

I think everyone was surprised at just how quickly he made an appearance! I think he rode out on a wave of amniotic fluid as the place was soaked (and my slippers, which were on the floor, have had to be binned!)

1st degree tear so no stitches. Gas and air to deliver the placenta.

Dp went down to NICU where they had taken the baby and came back with first pictures. Then DP headed home and was home before DDs got up for school/pre-school. They came to meet their baby brother after school and have declared they love him and want him to come home soon and that we should keep him!

I am now home - hoping to get some sleep in my own bed and hospital is a hard place to sleep as alarms go off all the time. They don't have a transition ward here - that is the next step and they are currently setting it up. I will go in again in the morning and have been given a pump to use as we try to establish a milk supply. Nothing happening yet - at all - with hand expressing or the pump but I will keep going. Good to read of other people who have struggled in the beginning and have been successful; I have struggled before and only managed to express any milk until both DDs' due dates before giving up....

Hope all else are well - off to sleep for a bit before trying to express again.

Trishstar · 14/03/2013 22:51

Oh my gosh how quick! You made it just in time!!! Xx

congrats again he's a beauty xxx

giddypants · 15/03/2013 00:54

congratulations Evan is such a cutie how close were you to having him in the car park though lolGrin glad it all worked out well for you.
great to hear about the moving placenta and a date
only 11 days now until my sectionShock Shock getting a bit stressed with the thought of it hence the lateness of the post.
hope everyone else is sleeping soundly Smile

Fluffeh · 15/03/2013 07:18

Wow dysgu sounds like you only just made it! I hope the expressing gets easier for you :).

All these babies arriving is so exciting! And I hate to admit it but before being pregnant I thought all newborns looked the same but the Facebook pictures are proving me wrong. Tiny little features :).

lynda ooh do you know what your having sex wise? Have they given you a time to arrive? We've got to be there at 7.30am! Hopefully that means they'll do it nice n early.

Jessie Penelope is gorgeous! Congratulations!

mrsS how fantastic are the later scans? Out baby was doing so much the sonographer had problems getting her measurements. Such a contrast to the earlier ones where she would just lay in a lump and refuse to budge haha!

Mama1980 · 15/03/2013 08:01

Morning all- I have finally finally managed to put a photo is Alex up on the fb page, will try to add a couple more later.
Congratulations dysgu Evan is gorgeous Smile glad you made it to the hospital in time!
I'm off to feed mr. I'm never full in a minute then he's gonna get a bath Grin

Crazytictac · 15/03/2013 08:52

Loved reading your birth story dsygu, little Evan was very keen to make a speedy entrance!!

mama just had a look on fb, no wonder you're so proud of Alex. He really is gorgeous. Hope today goes well.

Love looking at all the babies, can't get over how many are early birds. Congratulations to all you ladies.

Got my 36 week check with midwife today. Think I've plateaued as bump doesn't seem to have grown that much to me. I had a private scan at 32 weeks and then a growth scan at 34 weeks and when I was comparing the notes, it seems the baby's head is measuring smaller at the later scan than the earlier one?! I know not an exact science but will ask about it.

Ollibobs · 15/03/2013 09:12

Congratulations Dysgu! What an entrance little Evan made! I loved the detail in the birth story. It makes me so excited to think that will be me in a matter of weeks! Eek!

Hope all the new babies are doing well. Seems like so much is happening... What an exciting time, eh? Grin

JaquelineHyde · 15/03/2013 10:08

Dysgu what a lovely birth story, thank goodness you made it on to the bed Grin Evan is gorgeous by the way!

Mama your picture on FB made me cry Blush

All this talk of late scans is making me excited about my scan next week, it's my 36 week scan and then a consultant appointment.

I'm hoping the consultant will agree to me being induced a little early but if not I have resigned myself to the hour long journey by taxi to the nearest hospital, lets just hope I'm not as quick as Dysgu Grin

I started on my ball last night, I sat bouncing and rocking on it for about an hour and a half. How long does everyone else bounce for and has anyone noticed any difference?

JaquelineHyde · 15/03/2013 10:16

Oh and for the first time since it started OBEM scared the hell out of me!

It was the first birth when she was pushing the head out and wailing, all the memories just came rushing back, the feelings, the emotions everything.

Despite feeling like I have gone over due already the reality that I am going to be giving birth again has only just hit me.

I have been wishing my pg time away for a few weeks now but I think from now on in I am feeling quite content and I'm determined to enjoy these last few weeks of just me and the bump, our own secret bond and relationship that once it is over will never be back to just us.

usernamegoeshere · 15/03/2013 10:56

JH I know what you mean about trying not to wish the rest of pregnancy away, am making a proper effort now to try relax and enjoy it.

Congratulations on the new arrivals!

Midwife visited today, measuring 2 weeks ahead still but everything else is fine, baby is still head down and a bit engaged now. Luckily she told md that delivery is in different hospital to ante natal appts, else I would be going to wrong one! Apparently though since no car when I phone in in labour they will send ambulance (not urgent urgent one, they will just decide at time how soon they want me collected) so that saves worry about taxi's.

usernamegoeshere · 15/03/2013 10:59

Oh and I been using ball while watching tv, only for about 20 mins a time though, mw today said try rolling figure of 8 to help my stomach muscles as mine are separated.

birdbrain17 · 15/03/2013 11:20

congratulations to the new arrivals Grin Thanks please can someone keep the stats thread updated with them as I don't have facebook and I feel like I'm missing out Hmm
Also incase anyone feels like being extra nice to us non-facebookers you can put photos on your profile here on mn...hint hint.
I actually find I love OBEM now I'm pregnant. I find it really interesting to see how different women cope in labour and how for some women it really can be a good experience so no need to worry about all the scare stories. I think that watching it is what made me so suprised when I went to tour the labour ward last week as the hospital they film it in seems really spacious and much less hospitally then where I'm going. I guess photos can be deceiving and they could just be filming from a good angle, I do always think when I watch it wish I was going to that hospital Wink

birdbrain17 · 15/03/2013 11:21

p.s 36+5 (nearly there!!!!!)

Lyndaloo · 15/03/2013 11:23

Fluff They just told me first thing, but I've got a preop appointment on the 19th, so should find out then what time. Hoping it'll be early, don't wanna spend all day waiting round, cos I'll just work myself into abit of a state!

I'm having a boy, I've got a 3y/o dd already and this is it- no more babies for me!
(I give it a year before I get broody and change my mind!)

Can't believe ago many babies are here already, so lovely reading all the stories.
Hope all mummies and babies are well today.

Knewtothis · 15/03/2013 11:53

Is it ok to join the group in such a late stage? Just found the time and courage to do so! Due with 1st baby on 30th April, exciting and scary time! Have been following your stories for a while and can't believe how many babies have already arrived. Have pulled back muscles this week so been off work couple of days but it's very boring as in too much pain to do anything.

Congratulations to all that have their babies, and hoping you mums are all well.

33+3

Trishstar · 15/03/2013 11:56
