PS I think you girls with big families are amazing, take no notice if anyone judging you. I'd love a big family x

MTB82 · 01/03/2013 07:02

Still BFP and had moved along by a week in conception indicator. Smile

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 07:11

Good news!

Question for those who've already had children! Is it normal to drop weight at the start? I've dropped 2 kilos in a week Confused

I do follow a fairly strict diet but I had upped the calorie intake a bit so not sure why the weight is falling off!

getoffthecoffeetable · 01/03/2013 07:21

I think it just depends on your body. I've got a few friends that this happened to and others who piled the weight on. Unless it's significant weight loss I don't think you need to worry about it. Nausea puts you off foods in the first trimester so it's very conceivable.that you lose weight.

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 07:28

Just shocked me a bit as I was expecting the scales to go up and not down! O well won't complain about that!

I'll keep an eye on it

I've not been on the scales but I'm pretty sure I've lost a bit, probably to do with watching what I'm eating... Also a lot to do with no wine! Wine

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 08:15

lol no wine is prob a bit to do with my weight loss! i'd cut right down for the past few months but i still had some a few times a week.

good luck for today suffolk

Theicingontop · 01/03/2013 09:04

I dropped two stone in the first 12 weeks of my first pregnancy, I'd just started a manual labour night job, had the interview when I was probably around 2 days pregnant and had no idea.

This time round I'm really watching what I eat because I'm now a sahm, which is a pain because I seem to be wanting salty fatty foods even more than usual, probably because I know I can't have it. Wah!

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 10:09

i've lost 3 stone over the past 6 months but i def dont want to lose anymore as i'm getting a bit bony! well a bit of wobbly blubber round my tummy would be good to lose but not much else.

i'll keep a wee eye on it. trying to figure out all the things i need to remember i cant eat at the min! found out that soft goats cheese is ok but not the one with the rind so happy about that as its the only cheese i really like! do people ask restaurants about mayonnaise tho? or just not eat it?

MTB82 · 01/03/2013 15:06

I would prob err on side of caution and ask them to leave it out as chances are they'll have made it from scratch. (Can just blame your healthy eating regime!!)

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 15:44

Damn I love mayo! I'm likely to forget if we go out so will have to tell OH to remind me!

We've a nice dinner out tomorrow night so hopefully there will be things I can eat ok! Medium steak is out?!

SpanishLady · 01/03/2013 16:03

probably better to order your steak well done - like most people I think it would probably do no harm to eat runny eggs, shellfish etc etc but then you think how you would feel if doing that did cause a problem so best thing to do is avoid - its only for 9 months!! (Only?!)

Hello to everyone - I am not going to officially join the thread yet if that is ok as my situation is possibly abit unusual. I had a MC that started on 31 Jan at 8 weeks 5 days, long story short after the bleeding stopped (I bled for 7 days) and getting 3 BFNs since then - from this week I have started to test BFP - on Tuesday I tested 1-2 weeks and today 2-3 weeks.

So it apears as though I have gotten pregnant again before getting a period after my MC. 2 weeks ago I had a lot of EWCM and the typical mittelscherz I get around ovulation. Looking at the dates (using the first day I started spotting from my MC to stand in as the first day of a 'period') it fitted as being when I have tested postive on OPks for a LH surge before - our plan was to wait for a period and then start TTC again so we when my DH decided 2 days later he felt in the mood I thought I had bound to have missed my ov so we dtd without contraception....and hey presto.

I was/am still I suppose somewhat worried the BFPs arent a new pregnancy but something left over from my MC but I cant find anything online about getting BFNs that then revert back to BFPs after MC and I am getting symptoms - morning sickness & very painful boobs.

So if this is real/sticks it will be my third pregnancy (my first was my little boy who is 2 years old).

Longer post then I intended - sorry! If ok I will lurk but not officially join until a point where I feel I can have some confidence to.

good luck everyone and congratulations!

MTB82 · 01/03/2013 16:05

Sadly yes....oh steak and red wine Sad and of all places I'm going to a steak restaurant tonight, going to look highly bizarre when I order chicken and no wine when everyone knows how much I love the heavenly steak and red wine combo! Been playing the "given up alcohol for lent card" not sure how I can get round the steak one though....fear of it being horse meat...?!

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 16:09

I normally like mine medium rare so well done would be like shoe leather lol. Looks like I'm on the exciting chicken and burger diet then!

But then I'm happy to give up anything to be pregnant Grin

Hi to you spanishlady sorry to hear about your mc and fingers xd for you x

honey86 · 01/03/2013 16:21

getting cramps in my lower back feel like mild period cramps.. in my lower abdomen too... do i ring gp or do i not bother, seeing as they wouldnt be able to find anything via ultrasound at 4.6 weeks? im worried im going to mc again Sad

Fairydogmother · 01/03/2013 16:22

Are cramps not normalish symptoms? I'm not very au fait with all this so please take better advice than mine! Hope you're ok

honey86 · 01/03/2013 16:29

theyre not severe but kindof feel like the cramps u get b4 that first gush of af, like with abit of pressure down there (sorry tmi) x

Theicingontop · 01/03/2013 16:38

Cautious welcome, SpanishLady. I hope everything continues well for you, and so sorry to hear about your mc Thanks

I'm getting cramps too, Honey. They aren't nearly as bad as AF cramps, but exactly like yours, like pre-af cramps. I'm told it's normal, though I don't remember having them with DS. Uterus stretching?

Diege · 01/03/2013 16:49

honey I know you're worried but bad cramps can indeed be a very normal symptom. Hope you're okx
spanish welcome and it sounds like a pretty clear bfp to me! I've had 3 mcs over the years and the nurses always said that a bfn with fmu was pretty clear that the miscarried pregnancy had gone - looks like you are indeed pregnant again!
stuff, I'll give it a month too before I can no longer hide this pregnancy! Getting quite panicky about people knowing which is nuts. I wish I wasn't so bothered about what people think Hmm
Thanks getoff for the positive comment about big families Grin There's a new series of '16 and counting' on next wk which will make me feel better

Hi everyone please can I join?
Had 2 BFP today which is 5 days before AF due but was on mini pill so don't know what is going on. Had a feeling I had ovulated on 15th so that valentines day session is to blame. Due day would be 13th nov which is 4 days before my 40th birthday. I was hoping for something sparkly from Tiffany but a brother or sister for 2 year old DD would be so much better. DH in shock.
I am so worried about everything as I had a MC in 2010 before DD was conceived and with the disadvantage of old age I know it's goingto be another 9 months of fear.
Congrats to everyone else, it's really great to see some more older mums because all my mummy friends are 5 - 10 years younger than me.

getoffthecoffeetable · 01/03/2013 17:54

Have got DH steak for his dinner but am also in the blue camp but thought of eating steak not great anyway at the moment thankfully.
Cautious welcome spanish I have a few friends who had mc's and then immediately got pregnant. I think it's supposed to be a very fertile time. Will keep fingers crossed that this one sticks.
Diege would really love big family but I think we had our first too late for that. DH and I are presently still agreed on four - one DS so far...
honey am still getting cramps too. I had them with DS around this time too. I read it was your uterus stretching.

harverina · 01/03/2013 17:57

Welcome Spanish, hope you are ok.

I too are getting pains in my tummy and lower back, if I'm honest I'm not sure if I got them before...wish I'd written a pregnancy diary last time to remind me what symptoms I got, though don't think I had many this early apart from sore boobs. I do think I had wee pains all through my pregnancy though, so try not to worry honey...easier said than done i know x
