Congratulations soupe! When is your next scan?

Sorry star you don't get a scan until 12 weeks normally. The early ones are only if you pay/have had problematic previous pregnancies/unusual symptoms that need looking at/lie and say you have unusual symptoms that need looking at.

I have to wait until 13 weeks in Spain :-( but they can accurately tell the gender 80% of the time at 13 weeks so that would be a nice early bonus. Other than that it is a bit hard reading about all the scans on here and having so long to wait. I've already got a bit of a bump (at 9+2) so have had to tell some people which feels really bad as I don't even know if there is a healthy baby there at all. :-(

Moan over, I am also ridiculously thirsty! I've found a free bottles water cupboard at one of the offices I teach at and have been helping myself daily! Went there today to find they've moved them!

Also exhaustion, nausea still, extreme hunger (I've already eaten my lunch :-s) and still horribly sore boobs.

Anyone else showing a little? This is my first so I heard I shouldn't show for ages but definitely have a little pot belly, even when sucking my tummy in I look like I've eaten a massive curry, and I'm having to fasten my trousers with an elastic band!

Irishfairy · 27/02/2013 11:12

Umlauf that's exciting that you will be able to find out the gender at your 13 weeks scan!
I also have a little pooch and have been trying to hide it under looser clothes. My pregnancy app said it is caused by water retention at this stage so is not an actual bump. With my first I was desperate to be showing but didn't show much until about 25 weeks.
Thanks for the hula hoop tip pseudo Grin

star87 · 27/02/2013 11:13

Ah I see! Thank you ladies :) I did try and bring it up with my midwife when I called her to make my booking appointment as both my sister and my mum had a lot of mc so I am taking it as a good sign that they didn't want to scan me early! x

Yes star a very good sign!

maybe find out the gender irishfairy! I will keep my fingers tightly crossed! Apparently in Spain there is no way of keeping the gender secret because the adjectives all have a gender! So they might say the baby is 'guapo' if its a boy or 'guapa' if its a girl (only word I could think of) and its not culturally done. When I to,d my students that some people in the Uk prefer the surprise they thought I was mad! Luckily I want to know!

Ahh water retention. From all the drinking! I seeeeeee!

Haylebop12 · 27/02/2013 11:22

My early scan was because I was admitted with HG. They like to see if its a multiple pregnancy.

Well ladies, in back in hosp. Just in assess unit at the mo, dehydrated again as not even keeping the meds down. Will read back through the thread later.

Hope everyone is well.

cuillereasoupe · 27/02/2013 11:31

Thanks for the spam aimed at as yet unborn children appstore Hmm

EuroShaggleton · 27/02/2013 11:35

Spam reported. Now shoo from our thread!

star it's done as standard at my IVF clinic - I think it's so that they can confirm a clinical pregnancy (or not) for the HFEA stats. Otherwise, unless there is a medical reason, you need to pay for an early scan.

PseudoBadger · 27/02/2013 11:39

I think mnhq will have had lots of reports!

notsoold · 27/02/2013 11:41

beckybeck · 27/02/2013 12:15

hello again. i've been to the docs this morning and will have my first midwife appt at 7 weeks. isn't that a bit early? or should i just expect an information session?! hope you feel better soon Haylebob.

also i'm going on holiday in a few weeks - to somewhere that has midges/mosquitoes. does anyone know a good insect repellant i can use that doesn't have DEET in it? (i react REALLY badly to insect bites!)

CelticPromise · 27/02/2013 12:29

Morning all. cuillereasoup twins! Congrats.

I've got my booking appointment for 9 weeks, and my scan for 11+3. No early scan for me! I will also be seen in high risk clinic so waiting for that appointment and will have an early scan with foetal medicine specialist at 16 weeks (because DS was preterm and IUGR). I think I'll be well looked after, hopefully all will be well this time.

I'm a bit nauseous until I eat in the morning and still have sore breasts but that's about it. Not complaining! I wasn't sick with DS either.

pinksky · 27/02/2013 13:34

Afternoon all - so much going on! Loving the tips for ms and wind Grin

my temp is now down from fever territory, which I'm really pleased about. Thanks for the advice yesterday - think the paracetamols really helped (had been putting them off, wish I'd taken them earlier).

Cuille, congratulations! Will you have another scan soon?

Hayle, so sorry you're back in hosp.

Hope everyone else is doing ok today? have you seen your consultant, roofio? How was your mw, TDD?

I'm only 6+2 and can't call to make my booking in appt for another week. Time is dragging!

ps Umlauf, the sprout app is fab, thanks for mentioning.

TheFalconsmistress · 27/02/2013 13:47

I'm full of admiration for all you teachers out there. I feel lucky to have an office job where I can sit and hide at my computer.

One thing I'd like to ask advice -- I'm having major problems brushing my teeth, mainly by back teeth - I've thrown up twice this week which sends me to a vicious circle of needing to brush my teeth again!!. The rest of the time I feel nauseus and have the odd wretch but nothing sets me off like brushing my teeth.

I was wondering if any of you have the same problem or have any tips!

PseudoBadger · 27/02/2013 13:54

Not this time so far Bronze, but my last 2 pregnancies yes, mornings were the worst. My dentist said to do as much as I could bear in the morning and do a more thorough job at night if poss.

Kelbells · 27/02/2013 13:56

Hello ladies! Hope you don't mind the random post! I was on the Oct 12 thread and am just browsing mn whilst feeding my DS! I'm jealous of everything you have to come! Enjoy your bumps... It feels like an eternity of no wine, mooing steaks and lovely oozing cheese but it'll be gone in a flash... This side of things is AMAZING too and is flying by! Good luck all of you, newborn cuddles will be here before you know it GrinGrin

roofio87 · 27/02/2013 14:21

Hi everyone. been to see my cancer consultant at the hospital, he was more than pleased with everything, had a good look at my mouth and the sore bit and said its nothing to be concerned about. he said they'd stay vigilant but that it is likely to be sore etc at the moment. and actually it is feeling a little less sore today so my panic is over!! he was made up with my news,a novelty to him I think as most of his other patients are over 60!!

cuillereasoupe · 27/02/2013 14:30

Next scan is booked next Thursday. I'm ducking out of my two classes tomorrow and then I'm on half-term next week so I can have a proper rest. DP seems determined to wrap me up in cotton wool for the next 8 months and I plan to take full advantage Grin

Yes cleaning my teeth definitely triggers the old gag reflex at the moment. Eurgh.

TheFalconsmistress · 27/02/2013 14:31

Good to hear roofio Smile
