stick your bum in the air. Would so love to see DP walk in whilst I was on all fours rocking and breaking wind. Brilliant, so going to try that. Pissing myself laughing (again excuse the pun)

Flyer747 · 26/02/2013 21:22

Is anybody else craving cheese? I cannot get enough down my neck! I went out today and bought 2 big blocks...gonna be the size of a house if I continue at this rate...

Natalieand · 26/02/2013 21:24

Haha flyer I had a jacket potatoe for lunch with beans like like half a block of grated cheese I make myself sick thinking of it!!!!

char1eston · 26/02/2013 21:25

Iheartcruchies - I was the same with dd. in a supermarket and decided that I NEEDED chicken nuggets - never normally eat them!

Rockchick1984 · 26/02/2013 21:35

Natalie are you allowed DD in with you when getting your 12 week scan? My hospital won't allow children in, I saw someone refused her scan when I was pregnant last time as she had 2 kids with her. Hospital said it was too distracting for the sonographer, and if it was bad news it could be distressing for the children. Just thought I should mention it in case it's a standard policy (they were allowed to wait in the waiting room with a relative though).

HotSoupDumpling · 26/02/2013 21:56

Hope you feel better soon pinksky. And that your next scan is more reassuring notsoold.

(Also, sorry Euro for my libellous assertion that you had a ginger-nut-thieving DH!)

So, after getting the idea of hula hoops stuck in my head thanks to certain passengers on this bus, I went to two different shops today...and they were sold out of original flavour hula hoops! There was much furrowing of brows and a slight feeling of desperation!

My tip on wind is to kneel upright facing the side of a dining chair and lie over it, so the seat is pressing into your stomach. It's a bit like the going-on-all-fours trick, only there's a chair seat pushing the wind out Blush. Obviously you'll feel incredible sexy and glam as you are doing it...

Natalieand · 26/02/2013 21:56

Ahhhh thanks for the heads up rockchick think ill give them a call too ask I never considered it tbh! :-) I hope she can xxx

cazboldy · 26/02/2013 22:09

had 3 of mine come with me to the 20 wk scan of number 4...... but dh did take them out once they had seen. Smile

partially as dd1 was howling cos she found out it was going to be a boy Grin it was the only one we ever found out with too!

roofio87 · 26/02/2013 22:15

my sis took her ds with her to 20wk scan, but fortunately also took our mum who could remove him from the room when he started pushing buttons and spinning the wheels on all the equipment he could find!!

cherrycherry41 · 26/02/2013 23:41

adding to the food list:
after eating only toast since friday (all i can manage without tummy ache/diarrheaBlush ) for dinner tonight i had 5 whole hash browns and a handful of mini sausage rolls. Sounds sad but soooo glad i could eat something without running to toilet!
Feeling all round alot better even though ive not left the house in 5 days Confused maybe tomorrow i'll go for a short walk and see how that goes!

MrsExcited · 26/02/2013 23:59

Rough as badgers arse sums up today.

Bring on tomorrow

JellyCurls · 27/02/2013 05:04

Morning wonderful ladies of the October Bus. Can we talk thirst this morning?

For past three or four days I cannot seem to drink enough, yesterday I filled my water bottle (750ml) at work 4 times, had two mugs hot water, two mugs tea and a can of juice. Then when I got home I had an ice pole don't tell the kids and two pints diluting juice. Seems a huge amount and yes I peed constantly. This morning I woke feeling parched again. Is this a normal pregnancy symptom?

HotSoupDumpling · 27/02/2013 08:01

jellycurls, I've felt the urge to drink a lot more too. Apparently it's normal for pregnant women.

However, it can be a sign of gestational diabetes. The hospital will often do a routine check for it if you have a few of the symptoms, according to the NhS website: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/gestational-diabetes/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

TDD32 · 27/02/2013 08:16

Jelly curls, I have felt more thirsty.

Well first appointment with MW at 9am. Hopefully be better than doctor experience.

star87 · 27/02/2013 08:31

I've never drank so much! Have completely gone off tea and coffee, the thought of it makes me feel sick at the moment :(

I haven't suffered from an mouth ulcers, which is unusual for me as I normally have them all the time. As for wind, I've had this worse than normal (I suffer from Crohns disease so the wind and ulcers are pretty common!)

I haven't been sick so far, but I feel like I need to be almost all the time. I think if I actually were to be sick I'd feel like I'm actually getting somewhere! Any tips to stop the nauseous feeling?

Sal1977 · 27/02/2013 09:46

My midwife advised me to massively increase fluid intake as your body is hotter than normal, is making loads of extra blood and tissue and she also said "and then the vaginal discharge will start...". Oh joy.

So that is why we are all feeling thirstier!!

cuillereasoupe · 27/02/2013 10:03

OMG just back from the scan and I would appear to be having twins... though she said one of them had a slow heartbeat and might not make it.

Cacking my pants.

star87 · 27/02/2013 10:26

Congratulations!!! I have to admit I too would be cacking my pants. :) x

EuroShaggleton · 27/02/2013 10:35

Bloody hell cuillere! That must have been a bit of a shock.

I find walking helps with the wind (I am a long term IBS sufferer, so I have experiemented with lots of different things!). I recommend walking somewhere away from crowds so that when the urge comes you can just trump away! It pretty much never fails for me. I think the walking motion + gravity pushes everything along the intestines. Running is even better but less practical to take up during pregnancy!

roofio I think your worries are completely normal after what you have been through. It's not in the same league at all, but breast cancer is rife in my family and I have had a few lumps checked out in the past (all fine). With my boobs changing every day and feeling odd, I am finding myself checking for lumps and oddness all the time!

Sorry about the uncertain scan notso.

I am 6 weeks today and willing away the hours anxiously awaiting my early scan tomorrow. I have no symptoms other than the sore boobs and insomnia, and even the insomnia seems to be easing off. If I can see something on the screen, maybe I will start believing this is real.

Irishfairy · 27/02/2013 10:48

Wow Cuille twins! congratulations!

star for my nausea I have found sucking a foxes fruit or mint boiled sweet really helps.
Have also been loving salty and sweet popcorn and whoever mentioned hula hoops they did the trick yesterday thanks!
How is everyone else feeling today?

star87 · 27/02/2013 10:50

I've heard a lot of people talking about early scans. Was this offered to you or do you have to request it?

cuillereasoupe · 27/02/2013 10:55

I was due one next week star because I'm an old bird (38) and had fertility treatment but booked an emergency one after a scary bleed on Monday. I'm not in the UK so not sure what the procedure there would be.

notsoold · 27/02/2013 10:58

Star...it was offered to me because of the concerned in ths pg being an ep...

Rockchick1984 · 27/02/2013 10:59

Star the NHS will only do an early scan if there's a medical need (bleeding or severe pain, or previous miscarriage are the main reasons). You can pay privately for an early reassurance scan if you don't want to wait until 12 weeks :)

PseudoBadger · 27/02/2013 11:02

I'm glad my Hula Hoop tip is working for some of you!
