My husband has just been to buy me apples as I couldn't face dinner but said I might manage an apple, then realised we didn't have any. What a lovely man, now I feel very spoiled!

EuroShaggleton · 25/02/2013 22:13

slippy doesn't dried fruit have a lot of iron and other good stuff in? I am sure it must count.

Sweetiepie I'm cold, but that is normal for me, plus we are having a late winter cold snap now so it is not surprising. I can hardly feel my toes at the moment, in thick socks, in a warm house!

My pinchy feelings came and went throughout the day, taking my breath away at times, but seem to have gone away now. I am flipping knackered now though, so off to bed!

Sal1977 · 25/02/2013 22:25

Notsoold - I read somewhere that if Hcg levels were up at around 5000-6000 doing another blood test is neither here nor there and a scan is more accurate in seeing whether the pregnancy is viable. So I would say its a great sign! Xxx

notsoold · 25/02/2013 22:28

Thanks Sal...I guess I will find out tomorrow....

Sal1977 · 25/02/2013 22:34

I feel your nerves, I went through it last week after having some cramps and spotting. Saw the little heart beat and no explanation for the problem. I was 6+5 when I had the scan. Keep us posted!

notsoold · 25/02/2013 22:38

Will do!!!

Tarlia · 25/02/2013 23:13

Good luck with all of the scans tomorrow ladies. I'm still to book mine, couldn't get hold of a gyne this morning grr. On a positive my BP and urine were fine today, after the awful results on Friday! I was sure it was a blip as I'd been running round the city collecting a sick toddler and making it to my appointment by the skin of my teeth. Running and I are not friends on the best of days, let alone when so queasy.

nat I'm sorry to hear about your vanishing twin :( but very pleased to hear there is one strong heartbeat. I know it's not helpful now, but it may be helpful to know later lots go through this, but because people are not generally scanned so early most would never have any idea. Think of it this way, now you'll be able to cuddle both of your beautiful DC at the same time without a pouty one.

I love those maternity shots, not my thing to get one but love looking at them a) I'm nosey b) pregnancy is facinating. I wish I'd kept a pregnancy and photo diary last time. Not that I'm doing anything about it this time...yet...!?

Food, now I want gingernuts but I too would have to pay stupid delivery. Perhaps I'll bake some extra gingery biscuits once I have this new place under control. My diet is up and down, but greens are something I'm not good at eating :S

Sorry to read about the awful GP, sounds like a cow. In this country (scandi) it's becoming very normal to have first baby after 35. Be aware that you have the right to refuse any tests, internals etc etc. perhaps what you need to think about is IF the test NF scan came back with a high chance of Downs would you abort? Would you go on to have amniotic fluid taken to be a bit more sure if baby 'might' have downs? (this can cause miscarriage) If you answer no to both the above, and would keep baby regardless, then maybe you need to decline the indepth scan? As for spinabifida, if a junkie can have a perfectly healthy baby then anyone can, many foods in the uk are as standard fortified with extra folicacid - bread, cereals etc. Try not to worry yourself.

Its just me looking at the maternity jeans in the wardrob already trying to calculate when i can wear them then... I think I had them on at 14 weeks last time, though they fell down a bit, but my normal jeans were falling under a little 'pot belly' which I didn't like at all.

Restful nights all round x

Bugsylugs · 25/02/2013 23:15

notsoold I think they are doing the scan as the magic number for seeing things as far as BHCG is concerned is 1500 so I think they think they will something. Good luck

Sephy · 26/02/2013 07:05

Morning, hope the scans today go well. I have nothing at all to report, just impatience at how long it all takes!

First chat about named last night with dh, we didn't really come up with anything we loved, but it's fun to think about. Feels like a big responsibility!

TDD32 · 26/02/2013 08:17

Morning ladies,

Just popped on to say hope all goes well with everyone having scans, seeing MWs and doctors.

Also wanted to thank you all for yesterday.

Rockchick1984 · 26/02/2013 08:37

Morning all! TDD are you feeling a bit happier now about everything?

Hi Jethro, glad you've officially got on the bus!

Notso good luck for today, I'm certain it will all be fine.

Sephy me and DP have started having a think about names, although last time none of the ones we both liked at the start made the final cut! I've got far too many a couple of free apps on my phone that are pregnancy related and one or 2 have named lists on there so just had a read through some of them and saved them as potentials.

Just nearly been sick for the first time, had nausea for a while but just mildly queasy - had to leg it to the bathroom today but it was just some retching. I've got a cold too so coughing doesn't help!

TheFalconsmistress · 26/02/2013 10:12

waiting on midwife coming to house to fill in my record and booking in stuff, she is late :/.

How is everyone else today??

pinksky · 26/02/2013 11:02

Morning all, I hope you're doing well today.

notsoold all the very best for your scan X

I'm off work today, feeling rotten with a temp, achey, shivers... totally un-pg related I imagine and hopefully it'll pass soon. Trying to not overheat.

On a nicer note, I downloaded the free baby centre app, 'my pregnancy today'. It makes me feel that this is actually real! Anyone found other good apps?

roxvox · 26/02/2013 11:02

Morning all!

Good luck to those having scans or midwife appointments today. Please let us know how you get on.

I've started panicking myself standard practice now it would seem because I started getting some stomach/lower back cramps yesterday, and although they seem much better today they are definitely still there. Nothing debilitating so I shouldn't be concerned should I? I am at 8 weeks today so I've mentally convinced myself that it's AF time and my body doesn't know what to do. Worried it might try to expel something though because it's so used to doing so at this time of the month!

My other symptoms seem to have calmed down (not that I had that many) and that isn't making me feel any better about it all either. I am finding it so frustrating that I can't carry an ultrasound around with me and check up on the bean every 2 minutes now and then!

roofio87 · 26/02/2013 11:03

morning ladies!!
hope everyone with scans etc today gets on well!!
I'm at 8 weeks today so time is gradually moving on!! not meeting midwife till next week, but will all be here before I know it!! can't wait to get my scan date!!
how is everyone else doing today? I go between feeling totally fine to feeling very sick and rubbish!! Smile Smile

Umlauf · 26/02/2013 11:09

Hi pinksky I've got the Sprout app, its okay but the free version so quite basic. Might download the baby centre one too!

Am sooo out of it today and dreading the thought of working til 9. Exhausted before I've even started! I used to love my job but now I'm just so drained :-( 9+1 so I've got months of this!

roofio87 · 26/02/2013 11:10

roxvox I'm at the exact same stage as you and definitely feeling more pains and twinges now. I can only describe it as feeling like my uterus is growing and stretching, which I'm sure is exactly what it is!! our babies are getting bigger and bigger now so I'm sure we'll start to feel things more!! your uterus is already double the size it was by now so that's gotta hurt a little (this is what I keep telling myself anyway!!) try not to worry, its 2 periods we've escaped now so fingers crossed that babies are firmly hanging on!!xx

TheFalconsmistress · 26/02/2013 11:17

I am in total panic mode now i am a big red flag lady when it come to labour because of blood loss looks like that i am consultant lead care again as i may die :( stupid stupid stupid blood I can never get my hg high enough and now im frighted about going through labour again.

sorry for the mememe

OP posts:
roxvox · 26/02/2013 11:28

Thanks roofio that made me feel a lot better! Glad we're due date buddies (until our dating scans at least!)

Sorry to hear that falcon. At least you know you'll be in the best possible care on the big day?

TDD32 · 26/02/2013 12:26

Rockchick, yes feeling better thank you. Like everyone, just want the scan to make sure the little one is growing like he/she should be. Wish I had never seen my doctor but trying to ignore what she said and looking positively at my appointment with the MW tomorrow morning. Smile. Thank you for asking.

PinkSky- I hope you feel better soon.

Roxvox, I am not as far on as you but if it helps I have had cramps all week. My first post on Mumsnet was to ask if this was normal before discovering our October train. Everyone tells me (including my scary doctor) that it's not unusual to get cramps/pains in the first trimester. Something to do with your growing uterus pulling on the ligaments.

Falcon, sorry to hear the news but like roxvox says you will be in the care of a consultant. And I don't think you should apologies for sharing, we (all) have and I am sure in the future be a bit meme meme . We are all here to try and support each other, share a bit of information and have a good old rant.

JellyCurls · 26/02/2013 12:26

Falcon I have 2 dc and had no problems with DC1 during labour and bled heavily after dc2 as I had a low placenta so just cause you had a bad time last time doesnt mean this time will be the same. I am consultant led care also as dc1 has SN but I would prefer that. Means no difference other than a few more appointments, some extra scans and they keep a closer eye on you during labour.

Nothing much to report here other than constipation gone Grin only to be replaced with a runny bum Blush. 9 weeks today (or there abouts) and 15 days till my scan not that I am obsessively scoring the days off.

Hope all scan ladies get on well today x

TheFalconsmistress · 26/02/2013 12:48

Thanks ladies yea i am glad i do get the care i need just wish my body was a bit better at keeping my hg in the normal range. I hope everyone has good scans today.

Those mentioning stretching and sharp pains i have been getting them over a week and my belly has been feeling really tight too spoke to midwife turns out its all normal uterus growth pushing bit and bobs out the way, that's why you may find yourself more bloated at night xx

9+2 today but i still feel on the go slow too :)

roofio87 · 26/02/2013 13:14

I've got a sore tongue today, I know that problem with the.mouth are very common in pg,but I'm having a total panic!! I was diagnosed with mouth cancer in July 2010, I had most of my tongue removed and replaced with tissue from my leg as well as radiotherapy and chemo. I've been cancer free since Oct 2010 with no problems at all,but obviously I'm really paranoid about anything in my mouth. I just have a sore spot right by the scar in my tongue. good news is I see my consultant at the hospital tomorrow so can ask him!!
sorry, just wanted to get my panic off my chest. I'm sure its probably nothing I just can't help but think that this would be the worst time ever for it to come back!!!

Iheartcrunchiebars · 26/02/2013 14:07

Hi roofio I'm so sorry to hear that. What a nightmare you have been through. Fingers crossed its just another bizarre pregnancy symptom .

My stretchy pains have gone today but I figure the bsby is just having a rest day.

Mama2jandt · 26/02/2013 14:16

Hi all, please can I be added to the list? I'm expecting my 3rd on the 7th October. I have my first MW appointment on Friday and am finding it very hard not to tell everyone!
