slippy I'm only getting an early scan so the IVF clinic can confirm a "clinical pregnancy" (or not) for its HFEA stats. I wouldn't get one otherwise unless I paid for one privately (I'm paying for this one anyway, as part of the IVF package price). It's not horrendously expensive and there are plenty of places that offer early scans if you can't wait to see what is going on in there!

roofio87 · 25/02/2013 18:22

slippysnow most women have to wait until their 12 week scan, that's just standard. I am. I don't think there's any point in an earlier one when I have no bad symptoms. I know its a long way to wait but you get a nice definite look at the baby at 12 weeks and they can do all the tests they need!!

JethroTull · 25/02/2013 18:28

Well I had my early scan today (like Euro at an IVF clinic to confirm clinical pg). Everything was fine despite my worrying! I saw an actual heartbeat and could make out head and arms. Amazing. Grin

So I'm feeling almost as if I could be added to the list please ( can't copy & paste on my phone sorry!)

Umlauf · 25/02/2013 18:38

I have to wait until 12+4 weeks slippy can't find a private scan nearby even if I had the spare cash. It does feel a bit like I'm the only one who hasn't had seen my bean yet and I'm so paranoid I've made the whole thing up. :-( I understand the reasons behind having one early but I'm still Envy and Sad.

Really pleased the scan went well for you jethrotull it must be such a relief after ivf stress.

DH has eaten all the ginger nuts. Wouldn't mind except had to pay ridiculous delivery charges to have them shipped over from the uk!

roofio87 · 25/02/2013 18:39

that's exciting jethro you're just 2 days ahead of me so makes me imagine mine has little arms and legs now too!!Wink

Soupqueen · 25/02/2013 18:45

My scan is at 12+4 too. I keep being tempted by a private one but suspect we'll wait the 5 and a bit weeks.

TheFalconsmistress · 25/02/2013 18:46

I only had an early scan because of previous m/c xxx

HotSoupDumpling · 25/02/2013 18:46

Hello Jethro!

Euro Shock at the ginger nut thievery! I have been a bit snippy at DH when he eats my emergency fruit and nut mix from my handbag.

Whoever mentioned hula hoops up thread....am now seriously craving some.

JethroTull · 25/02/2013 18:49

Thanks all. Have been reading this thread every day. It's great to hear about other people in the same boat.

cuillereasoupe · 25/02/2013 18:50

I've moved to the sofa and am scarfing gherkins like there's no tomorrow. I have an evening of Dr Who DVDs lined up.

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/02/2013 19:26

Glad you are taking it easy cuille and hope that things are back to normal for you very soon.

Natalie i was wondering today how it was going. What a strange day for you, very sad news about twin b and very happy news to see your strong, healthy little bean in there. I hope you are getting lots of support and got home from the hospital safely.

I think morning sickness is starting to kick in in today, just in time to go back to work. I haven't been sick yet but felt very sick most of the day, only managed to eat crumpets and nearly hurled when we had to do a science experiment using plasticine. I feel yucky but am happy whenever something happens to let me know things are going as they should.

Irishfairy · 25/02/2013 19:27

Cuillerea I'm in the same boat as you. I've had some bleeding on and off since Saturday. Hmm
Have a scan booked at the EPU in the morning. I'm 8 weeks tomorrow, I know it can be a common thing for women to have and that it can be nothing but doesn't really help me to stop freaking out a bit!!! I'm trying to rest as much as I can but not easy with an energetic toddler. I can't wait for tomorrow so I can find out exactly what is going on! Fingers crossed for us.
Hope everyone else is doing well x

thethreeblondies · 25/02/2013 19:35

My sickness kicked in at work on sunday Orange but the only thing keeping mine at bay is eating Blush DH has been tactifully telling me not to stuff my face, but as I told him, it might turn in to sickness where I don't want to eat, so at least I'm getting some fat reserves on board now!

EuroShaggleton · 25/02/2013 19:40

Yay, Jeff. It's good to see you planting yourself on the thread!

(It wasn't me with the ginger nuts, btw, I am wheat-free and a ginger nut-free zone.)

slippysnow · 25/02/2013 20:20

Glad I'm not the only one that's having to wait what feels like years. And glad people that have had difficulties and causes for concern are being scanned early, must be reassuring for you all. Does anyone know whether chocolate raisins count as one of your 5 A day ;). I've managed to eat pretty healthily and thankfully I've had no ms. It's still early days for me though. How's other people's diet

Iheartcrunchiebars · 25/02/2013 20:26

Ok now I want hula hoops. I have never eaten so unhealthily in my life. But now have very few foods I can stomach and am loosing weight not putting it on grrrr.

The main thing that stops me being sick is sugar. 2 packets of wine gums today.

notsoold · 25/02/2013 20:59

Yesterday I started having cramps about 6pm....not so painful as periods cramps but only on my right side.
No other symptoms and otherwise well...
I went to epu today and because I am 6+2 they dod some blood tests and told me to come home. They thought that at 6+2 a heartbeat might not showed in a scan and I would stress even more...
The epu phoned tonight and told me to book a scan tomorrow and that the hcg result was 5163...
Should I be worried???
Can it be ectopic with that result??
Ps I am 41..

TDD32 · 25/02/2013 21:13

IrishFary, Hope all goes well with your scan tomorrow.

FOOD - Touch wood so far I have tried to keep healthy, lots of fruit, lots of leafy green vegetables/salads and my big thing at the moment is fish (any white fish except cod) and chicken. My DP is praying I stop with the fish cravings, I think he is sick of eating it already and dreading he will be living on fish till October. Ha ha

Also, I am going to try and stick with the gym. Let's see how long that lasts.

sweetiepie1979 · 25/02/2013 21:26

Does anyone else feel cold all the time I'm 7 weeks?

TheFalconsmistress · 25/02/2013 21:27

Notsoold dont worry about hcg numbers they can vary wildly person to person as long as they are going up you should be fine. Mine were only 300 at 6 weeks when I m/c. Xx

Evening ladies, thanks for your well wishes had a good cry to myself on the sofa made me feel a bit better, hubby brought me some flowers home from work. Which put a teeny smile on my face. Feel exhausted today as hardly slept a wink last night and dd has been quite a Madame this afternoon, well either that or I'm just more irritable. I'm gunna stick to my due date after a little bit of calculating because if I go with the date the hospital gave me it means I wasn't even 2 weeks pregnant when I got y BFP which obviously isn't possible lol. I explained this to scan lady and she said it will probly change back at my 12 week scan. Does n e one know how I get a 12 week scan now as obv I've had my booking appt, and she didn't request a 12 week scan because it was a multiple pregnancy I would have had them 4 weekly she said but obv that isn't the case now do I just ring maternity clinic and book it in myself? Sorry for a meme me post but I'm just off too bed. Good luck too all those having scans tommorow or other pregnancy related appts xxxx

notsoold · 25/02/2013 21:30

Falcon...thanks hun....
It was the fact that they are not waiting to compare to a second test, plus the fact that the pain ( or cramp is still there) that really worries me :(

JLSmithy · 25/02/2013 21:34

sweetiepie1979 I am also cold most of the time! Now almost 6 weeks- spoke to one of my friends who said she was also cold through the early stages of pregnancy and then during her 3rd trimester she couldn't cool down! So seems perfectly normal!

roxvox · 25/02/2013 21:46

Evening all.

natalieand sorry to hear about your scan. I'm glad you've got one strong heart beat in there though.

notsoold I hope all goes well tomorrow. Perhaps they've just had a discussion down at the doctors surgery and thought best to get you in for a scan after all?

sweetiepie1979 I too am always cold. I generally am quite a cold person (think I must have poor circulation or something) but I have been particularly cold today.

I am really quite achey today. No other real symptoms... Just the tummy aches. Last week I was a tad nauseous, always hungry and knackered. Kind of relieved to not be like that any more, but very scared that the symptoms have gone. I hate all of this not knowing.

I hope you're feeling better soon cuillereasoup.

Good luck tomorrow irishfairy and anyone else having scans.
