Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all

I need to join team moan....

I am 27w 5d and had midwife appt today. She is soo useless it's unreal. I was very distracted and forgot to ask about whooping cough jab and ask for matb- needless to say she didn't bother mentioning either!

She said she can't work out which way baby is lying... Maybe head down ( she's so clueless)

We briefly discussed group b strep ( which I had previous pregnancy. But again she had no answers.... She was like this last time too..

So came away just thinkin what a complete waste of time. I am measuring 28 weeks and had glucose in urine.

I've had a frankly s@@t week. I keep losing m temper with DH - he seems to live on another planet... Such as thinking its ok to arrange a non urgent house fix job for 8am on my day off / DS 3rd birthday... He just never seems to think...

This baby does not lie still and is playing havoc with my sleep and bladder ( when coughing) I'm quite fed up- defo wasn't like this last time.... Must be a girl!

I'm off before I whine anymore- sorry!

Boodstress · 27/02/2013 22:02

Oh no seven I've had two crazy boys, early crawlers & walkers ... I was hoping for a bookish sort that will sit in the corner Grin

WestieMamma · 27/02/2013 22:05

My baby will apparantly look like a cherub. My daughter tried it out to see what she and her boyfriend would produce. Their baby would look like a serial killer. :o

Wirrawoo · 27/02/2013 22:20

Oh scooby I'm sorry you had a rubbish time. Totally sympathise. Maybe you can make an appointment with your GP to talk about some of these things? Have just made one for whooping cough jab and to confirm exactly what the deal is with strep B labour. In the meantime, have a hug from me and a cup of tea Brew Thanks

Am wondering if OBEM is an accurate depiction of what labours are like or if they choose the more dramatic ones? One thing is for sure, if I cry this much at a tv show every time a baby is born, what on earth is going to happen when we see our own baby?!? He is kick kick kicking away in there, must still have enough room in there because he's always on the move Grin. Just had an OMG epiphany that in 9 weeks or so we will forever have a child. Head spin! It feels exciting but scary because of the unknownness of it. A bit like standing on the top of a diving board! DP is seriously excited :) am so glad, my first instinct is always to make sure he's ok and not freaking out, but someone may have to do that for me soon too!
Not nauseous at all, but the dreaded varicose veins seem to be suddenly threatening to take over my left leg. Dammit!!
Hope all you ladies suffering with colds and bugs feel better soon and welcome to the new people xx

Catchingmockingbirds · 28/02/2013 00:12

beaut ds has some sleep problems too, his OT suggested trying him with just an extra blanket over the top of his duvet or a heavier duvet if possible before trying him with a weighted blanket. I put his sensory light on pointed to the ceiling at night now as he goes to bed and it really helps him fall asleep, he finds it difficult to lie with his eyes closed and needs to keep them open until he falls asleep so he lies in bed and watches his light on the ceiling and it relaxes him and he's able to fall asleep. The double duvet works well for keeping him asleep and stops him waking up as often during the night and I open the window in his bedroom if I think he's getting too hot.

CheerfulYank · 28/02/2013 05:32

Ugh. All poorly in some way at chez Cheerful. DS had his kindergarten inoculations today-four on all. He felt fine earlier but it very achey now, poor thing. :( DH carried him to bed and hurt his (already sore) back. I had an awful headache earlier so I took some ppainkillers, went to sleep for a bit...and woke up with an awful sore throat. I'm trying hot lemon water on it, it really hurts! Sigh. Even the dog is crying and scratching at his ears. Arrgh!

My mom is coming to visit Sunday-Tuesday and I'm already a bit apprehensive. I love her to bits, she's so funny and adores DS, and can be very helpful (she plans to paint while she's here, yay, and is here to watch DS b/c I have a 3 hour long appt with my doctor on Monday) but she can also be extremely pushy. And despairs of my, as she calls it, "relaxed attitude" toward life. I'm practicing saying "remember, you had your babies. You were in control then." :)

Bood I am also hoping for a calm one! DS is a bit of a live wire. And he never, ever, ever stops talking. People think I'm joking until they meet him. I don't know how he even breathes sometimes!

Zorra · 28/02/2013 06:40

Sorry for everyone feeling rubbish :( Been up since 5.30am with cramp in both legs, so I feel your pain! Wishing everyone a cheerful and ache-free day x

Artichook · 28/02/2013 09:42

Zorra - let cramps are awful. Have you tried a magnesium supplement (if you can get them over there)? I was really suffering and was told to eat a daily banana and take a magnesium supplement and it seems to have really, really helped. Drinking lots is important too as cramps can be a sign of dehydration.

beaver33 · 28/02/2013 10:19

hey y'all, sorry to hear so many of you are feeling crappy. Feel like a bit of a fraud in that I'm kinda ok for the moment, if getting pretty tired. Haven't taken any time off work since November (no holidays over Xmas/NY either) so it's beginning to drag....

I've been waiting to move house so I can take a week off and it HASN'T HAPPENED YET and it's driving me crazy. Four weeks ago we emailed questions to our vendor based on the outcome of our building survey and it's been silence ever since.

Been ringing our (very diligent) solicitor daily to find out what's going on and apparently the seller has returned the signed contracts but has still to respond to the questions. It means nothing has happened for four weeks. Nothing.

I need to move house. aaargh.

29+3

BeauticianNotMagician · 28/02/2013 11:01

Catching This is why we need to move. The older two ds are now sharing a room which they love but I can't use ds1 sensory light as it keeps ds2 awake.ill try the extra blanket though.

Another one moaning here.I walk everywhere and it's really becoming difficult.Ive just got back from the shops and my bump is aching badly on the left side plus back is killing me.I just think its all the walking as I didn't do do much with first two. Oww I could cry Sad

great to hear an update 10. The constant movement is a blessing and a curse I guess. Ill bet that's why he's so strong now. The poor little munchkin tiring himself out and how amazing that's he's already got that sucking reflex.

My little one is now stretching so hard that I think I might burst -
I got my whooping jab this morn after much consideration. I feel rotten and my arm weighs 350 tonnes I mentioned to the nurse that the last few days I've had sporadic back pain, puffiness & extreme tiredness and she popped into the midwife who was able to see me straightaway (amazing) who took some more bloods, did a urine test and talked through my symptoms. She said 2 boys 5 & 3 are going to make the pregnancy much more achey. Even though my iron is normal (my usual state is a condition with too much iron) it may help to eat more steak & spinach etc. as well and I should be drinking vast amounts more than I am. 'Go and get some proper rest' How FFS... Still glad I saw her and she'll see me again week after next. She complained that the obst d

Boodstress · 28/02/2013 16:21

... Doesn't realise the nessesity of the midwife visits! Next visit is feeding apparently!!

BeauticianNotMagician · 28/02/2013 21:16

10 Lovely to hear from you. Sounds like Seb is still doing well and surprising them.

Has anyone else been continuing with any excercise throughout the pregnancy.I am generally very achy at the moment especially with walking. I'm ok when doing standing excercise but when I do my floor excercises my whole uterus area feels painful and crampy and I struggle to move at all on the floor whilst getting into different excercises.

Gosh no wonder I have no sex life at the moment Blush

Wish I could exercise Beaut. pelvic pain means I struggle to walk longer than a 100 yards, not even allowed swim but I can 'wAlk through the pool' Confused I'm doing my pelvic floor a zillion times a day though.

lollypopsicle · 01/03/2013 09:58

sounds like you're really struggling blood Sad
beaut I'm doing aqua natal and yoga. I've found aqua natal great for feeling more supported around the bump and pelvis.
With the yoga, if anything is uncomfortable she will always give an alternative. The problem with classes is the expense. both are £7 a session.
have you tried a pregnancy Pilate's DVD? I know a few ppl who have recommended them in the third tri.

had my 28 WK appt yesterday and despite me feeling and looking like a whale, I'm measuring way below the 10th centile for fundal height so I have to have a growth scan today. I had this problem last time but DS was 9lb in the end so hoping its just the way I carry rather than something wrong.

Had a funny moment at work on wed too where my vision went blurry and I felt disoriented and got very flushed. My blood pressure is fine but midwife said get my iron levels checked so got blood tests later today, too. I
hate blood tests.

good to hear news of baby Seb, 10.

28+1 ( third trimester , whoooo!)

lollypopsicle · 01/03/2013 09:59

sorry, bood autocorrect for you!

BeauticianNotMagician · 01/03/2013 10:46

Lolly No I have a pre natal DVD which I'm doing.Ill look at Pilates one sounds good.Thanks.

I think I may have found the reason for super uncomfortable bump.My youngest was sick all through night and Ive woken with a tummy bug.In agony with cramps.Strange as baby is moving loads which makes my tummy feel worse but least I know he's ok.I have my 4d tomorrow and no way I'm cancelling again. So me and the boys are having a duvet day

SevenReasonsToSmile · 01/03/2013 11:11

beaut sorry to hear about the stomach bug, enjoy your duvet day and hope you feel better for the scan tomorrow.

lolly hope the growth scan is ok. I guess it's reassuring though that you had a similar problem before and all was fine.

10 I love to hear your updates, sounds like he's doing really well.

Sorry to everyone I haven't mentioned who's feeling poorly. I'm now on day 9 of having a cough and cold. The cough does seem to be on the mend now but I'm getting more congested if anything.

The builders knocked through into the hallway yesterday. We just have an archway into the dining room though rather than a door so of course everything was coated with a thick layer of dust. I spent nearly 3 hours cleaning everything yesterday afternoon, I'm aching a bit today, and have a million loads of washing to do as we couldn't get to the machine yesterday, plus we accidentally left all the bedroom doors open so all the beds needed changing too.

BeauticianNotMagician · 01/03/2013 11:23

Seven Thank you I hope you feel better soon.So much going around at moment.

Lolly forgot to say I had the same problem with ds1.I was packed off to hospital on numerous occasions as was measuring small for dates. The final doctor I saw told the midwifes to stop sending me.He said yes you are small for dates but not so small it's concerning, you are just having a small baby.Ds1 was a perfectly healthy baby weighing in at just over 6lbs Smile

Ellypoo · 01/03/2013 18:36

I hope your growth scan was ok lolly.

Beaut sorry you have a horrid bug, I hope you feel better very soon & that it doesn't affect your 4D scan tomorrow.

Seven, that sounds horrid, I hope you start feeling better really soon & that the builders fit a door so you have a lot less dust, sounds awful, hate the way it just gets everywhere.

Had growth scan today, all looking ok so far, and my cons has booked me in for section on 10th April - I was hoping that it would be then, had to argue to get it because she wanted it later but I got there in the end! Will be 36+1 by then, 5 weeks on wed - officially on countdown now Grin

Hi to everyone - hope you are feeling ok xx

30+3

lollypopsicle · 01/03/2013 20:01

Wow, not long til you meet your baby then elly 10th April is no time at all Smile

Growth scan went well. Thanks for the well wishes. Baby measures bang on for length/circumferences etc. Weight wise, she does weigh on the low side of normal but still within range so they were happy. It was lovely to see her again. I can say 'her' now as the sonographer had a better view this time and thinks it's a girl which confirmed what we thought.

Hope all of you feeling under the weather start to feel better soon. I've managed to escape illness lately, despite DS and DP suffering with lurgies.

Now it's march, May seems so much closer than yesterday Grin
