Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BeauticianNotMagician · 27/02/2013 10:28

Ng I asked as when I was on my own with my two at around that age and ill for any reason.I would just get in plenty of snacks,DVDs and leave them to it a lil bit whilst I would snooze/rest on the sofa.I just used to put all their toys around them and the stair gate up so I knew they were safe.

Gosh thinking back my two were so good.Just hope this one is as well Smile

BeauticianNotMagician · 27/02/2013 10:40

Had my midwife appointment today.Poor woman I rambled on and on.Im measuring exact on dates, super strong heart beat and she thinks baby is head down at the moment.Thats probably why my movements have felt restricted as I'm pretty sure he was lying across before.

Only part I hated was my bloods arm is still aching Hmm.I got my matb1 form though.Whats the next step do I have to send away for the maternity pay form ?

WestieMamma · 27/02/2013 10:45

You may have already seen this if you're subscribed to the NHS pregnancy service, but just in case you haven't, here is a website where you can morph your and your partner's photos to get a picture of what your baby will be like.

Have fun.

shelly81 · 27/02/2013 11:12

Hey all ......do any of you ladies have sure start childrens centre near where you live ??? Xxx

Artichook · 27/02/2013 11:20

I have several Shelley. Why do you ask? I think that cuts have resulted in some of their services being reduced which is sad. After DD2 was born I did a great baby massage course with Sure Start.

Still really ill. On the bright side I've lost 3lbs!

Rhienne · 27/02/2013 11:22

ng my DS turns 2 in a couple of weeks.

MrsCobes44 · 27/02/2013 11:22

Hello all

Just adding myself to the group- I've just been catching up on all the threads. I am expecting DC2 on 24th May so I have my 28 week appt with the midwife on Friday. I'm looking forward to hearing the baby's heart beat again :o)

DS1 will just have turned 3 after DC2 is born- he is adament that we are having a girl!!

Please can someone PM me the Facebook group when they have time. I didn't even know MN existed with my first pregnancy so it's nice having somewhere to hear other people's experiences this time round!

Thanks very much

shelly81 · 27/02/2013 12:00

arti I work in one that's all just wondered if any of you ladies had heard of/used them. Some have been hit really hard by the cuts luckily we haven't been hit too bad at the minute. Xx

Ellypoo · 27/02/2013 12:06

beaut if you look on www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance that should give you the info about applying for your maternity allowance, there will be a form and you will need to return it with your MATB1.

Got scan & consultant appointment on Friday - hopefully will get the date for my section then, which will give me a date to work towards, struggling with anxiety at the moment although work is kind of taking my mind off it a bit I suppose.

Hope those of you struggling/not feeling well feel better v soon. I am having rubbish sleep, am constantly eating (if I'm not then I get bad heartburn), and in a lot of pain with back & pelvis, so it's worse in a lot of ways that 1st trimester, I have also got that all-consuming tiredness but as i can't get comfy in bed it's even worse!!!

30+1

Zorra · 27/02/2013 12:17

Thanks for the Brew and sympathy! I'm the Country Director of a charity which works with children who are affected by war, which is why I'm in Sudan. It can be very intense, and I find it even more so since I had DS and started to 'feel' children's issues more... Not sure how long I can do it for to be honest (especially as it's very stressful, with very very long hours), but it's been satisfying so far. DS has enjoyed Sudan, especially the camels! I just wish that I could come home for a few months and have the baby without locking horns with the HMRC, but I understand how they have to assess people. Bah!

28 weeks today, lots of tickly movement (I have an anterior placenta so not feeling everything) and heartburn but not much else exciting to report! Got my scan and 28 week tests next week which is exciting and always a little nerve-wracking. Hope you ladies are all well Smile

MammaBrussels · 27/02/2013 12:40

NG have you tried posting in the Living Overseas section? There might be some other Mumsnetters that live near you. There are loads of us in Belgium and NL, we have a Facebook group and have meet ups from time to time. It's been such a massive help to me. Think how many expats there are on this board alone - it might be worth a try?

ng1412 · 27/02/2013 15:00

Hi Mamma I hadn't thought of doing that, I am sure there must be some mums here that I haven't met yet!

MammaBrussels · 27/02/2013 15:54

Try starting a new thread here

BeauticianNotMagician · 27/02/2013 18:08

Shelly Are you a nursery care worker.I would love to get into working with children in some way.Even if its the admin side in a centre.

Can't say I know a lot about sure start centres just that despite being a village we actually have one hereGrinLike I mentioned up thread the pre natal care here is pretty much non existent. However,I do believe that most of the post natal care here is good and that all babies checks etc are carried out at the sure start.

Bunnychan · 27/02/2013 18:36

All my midwife appointments are at the local sure start centre. It's a lovely little place and I'm looking forward to going to groups there with my LO. I feel like I'm creeping back into the first trimester too; my spots and clumisness are returning as well my tiredness. Think I managed to glow for about a week a few weeks ago :-( x

BeauticianNotMagician · 27/02/2013 19:34

I too feel first trimester again (well from previous pregnancies as I wasn't bad this pregnancy). My skin has a few blemishes for the first time this pregnancy and is super dry, flaky and dull looking.I keep getting told I look well. Now that I've put on another 3lb I think people just mean fat.

I have felt really uncomfortable this week.Like I'm so full of baby.Really achy pains under my bust.I was told today baby is in head down position which I had kind if guessed. When I was pregnant with ds2 he constantly wedged a foot under my ribs on the right. My ribs have stuck out more that side ever since.Ive just realised today that all the general aches and uncomfort I've been feeling are because I have a feeling ds 3 has found that lovely gapHmm

MammaBrussels · 27/02/2013 19:36

The only glow I've experience with this pregnancy has come from going pink with anger at DH. I've been waking up in the middle of the night completely raging at him for no reason, unable to get back to sleep because I hate him so much!

Glad you mentioned clumsiness Bunny my fingers seem to have lost all their grip, I didn't thing it could be to do with pregnancy. Amazing how something changing in one part of your body affects just about every other part of it.

29+2 and it's dragging now.

berri · 27/02/2013 19:42

ng yes its still coming down! Not as deep as expected though and thank goodness we have a clearing service so I can get the car in & out! On the bright side it's not as cold when it snows.

shelly I love the surestart centres, there's nothing like that in the usa and I really miss it! Our local one was fantastic after I'd had DS.

zorra what a worthwhile job you do - hat off to you!

Hi MrsC :)

berri · 27/02/2013 19:43

PS westie that website is hilarious!

BeauticianNotMagician · 27/02/2013 20:10

Elly Forgot to say thank you for the link Smile

Westie I'm about to look at the site haha

Boodstress · 27/02/2013 20:18

Evening all! My low back ache seems to have passed but gave me a fright. I think it's the way I'm carrying this time which is very high, I can fit into my fat day jeans but I have put on a stone and half so it's all big under my mono boob so I'm really breathless with constant heart burn and latest one is bright flushing cheeks which is really obvious in my deathly pale state but.. No spots :-) small mercies. This baby is so strong and the movement so acute. I don't remember either of my last pregnancies having so much room to kick and push at 31 was which I am Friday. Boring you all with symptoms in case anyone has the same and wants to moan a long Grin

Very over being pregnant now!

aberjen · 27/02/2013 20:30

Well, as rubbish as it is that there are others of you feeling crappy, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who has regressed (misery loves company)

Hello mrs Smile

BeauticianNotMagician · 27/02/2013 20:35

Bood do you find it more kind of alien of that makes sense this time around. This is my third and it feels a lot stranger compared to first two.I feel way more movement and like you say so early as well.

I know I'm older this time but I also had more energy at this stage before.I didn't moan as much about being uncomfortable at this stage if at all.I thought nothing of going to work and getting on with things wheras this time everything's an effort

Boodstress · 27/02/2013 20:44

My first was busy beaut and then my second was quiet but this one is very strong. Memory fades symptoms of course and I am older - although not by much. I am actually freaking out at some of the movement though and it really hurts. I don't think you ever adjust to it - it's always bloomin' mind blowing IMHO.
Someone told me busy in the womb = quiet baby so I am hanging onto that. :-))

SevenReasonsToSmile · 27/02/2013 21:26

Hi mrscobes. There's a stats thread in ante-natal groups, feel free to add yourself on there.

Thanks to those who asked about the kitchen. As its a garage conversion they haven't needed access to the house much, only really to get water for the plaster and for the plumber to add the radiator pipes onto the existing onto the existing ones, they're knocking through tomorrow though. Also I'm a SAHM so I'm often here anyway.

bood my DD was very active in the womb and even more so out of it, she even rolled at 9 weeks and crawled at 6 months. This one is much calmer so I'm hoping she'll be calmer than my crazy DD.

Sorry to all of those suffering with illness and discomfort. I've got my voice back now but I'm still full of cold.
