Hi all

Hope everyone is doing ok. I work in a surgery and got to hear a heartbeat today- one of the ladies I work with got the sonic aid out, was lovely to hear.

Told the grandparents last weekend got 'congratulations' swiftly followed by 'just as well you are getting on a bit' ( wtf I'm 34 today!!) and to top it off 'you'll have to get rid off the dog' ( who is the softest thing in the world). Don't think I'll be going back to see them for a while!

We got the same comment re getting rid of our cats from some quarters. Bah!

Reading all this potty training talk with interest. DD is 19mo and tells me when she is doing a poo. We have bought a potty and sat her on it a few times with no expectations, just to get her used to it really. We normally do it immediately before her bath, and she hasn't done anything in it yet, but a couple of times has been not too keen to sit on it, and then has weed as soon as she is in the bath. So this tells me that she is aware of needing to wee, and she is able to hold it for a few moments. Obviously I'd rather she didn't pee in fresh bathwater, but at least I know the awareness is starting to be there, although I suspect she it too little to really get it yet. I have a toilet training seat thing, maybe I'll sit her on that and see what she thinks.

Had my appointment with the consultant today, not really sure why but everyone has one here. So they took my blood pressure, listened to the baby's heartbeat, and said they'll see me again if I go a week overdue. Not really sure why I had to go up to the hospital for that, as they could have done it all locally. I didn't even see the consultant I'm supposed to be "under"! Lovely to hear baby's heartbeat though, although it wasn't terribly clear. Maybe he / she was in a funny position.

Dexido Get rid of the dog indeed, how silly! As if you have some slavering beast tied up in the corner of the living room!

DS will be 2 in April and is definitely nowhere near potty training. Although he knows when he is pooing, and will hold in poos until a more convenient time, he has not got any clue about when he is doing a pee. When he does one in the bath he looks very surprised.

I have heard that boys take longer than girls though. But it seems to me inevitable that we will have two in nappies. I'm not too worried about it actually. I'd rather wait until he was ready than have to deal with regular clothes changes.

Things with me are heading back towards an even keel so I'm feeling a bit more okay about life and baby now.

My DS is nearly 5 and has only just come out of night nappies (and still wees himself in the daytime too). Don't sweat it ladies!

Dexidoo your grandparents just made me feel ANCIENT! (mind you, i am 41)

Stop sitting - I'm sure work will be fine when I tell them, its just believe it or not I will be the first person in the office to have a baby so not sure they will know what to do with me!

Muddy - Not really possible to do less travel in this role at the moment as I am in charge of global marketing for everything we do in Asia so have to make lots of visits all over the place. As long as I feel well then plan to travel until June and then have two lovely months at home!

Off home this afternoon and then Malaysia next week!

Hey ladies

Sounds like a lot of potty training going on, we still havent tried with dd as shes only 13 months. So prob will have two in nappies.

I went to bed a night last night after having a headache for over 24 hrs. It was so bad it made me have tears in my eyes. Then to top it of dh made me a bacon sandwhich projectile vomitted after eating half. So have slept for nearly 12 hours :0 feel a tiny bit better but not great :(

abi Omg I just been thinking about that, I'm terrified me lol. Well yest I had pain but not as bad and the tightnings wernt uncomfortable, but today I've got lots of pain at the moment tightnings are getting slightly uncomfortable again. I see my midwife tomorow, so mentioning it to her again hopefully can get seen by some1 who specialises in this rather then just some doctor of the gynocology ward. Hope your feeling better soon hun xx

Morning all,

I'm feeling a lot happier today, finally gave in yesterday and decided my normal stretchy trousers are now too tight so hit new look on the way home from work as they have loads in store and they do tall trousers. Today is bliss! I suspect most of it's fat/tummy and not baby but I don't care, I'm comfy!

Hope those of you feeling unwell perk up soon. I'm back at work, feeling rough but plodding on until Friday as we go on holiday for 2 weeks on saturday so can rest lots then.

Morning everyone (: Think I may have overdone it with the cleaning the other day as have slept pretty much all day since then! Lol. Midwife appointment today, though can't think of any questions at the minute. Will probably think of a thousand afterward though! Hopefully get to hear peanuts heart beat. So fingers ctossed for that. Hope everyone who's poorly/sore feel better soon. Xx

Lol Ruckandroll, I too have a "bump" which is mainly just tummy not baby, but could not do my trousers up yesterday so think maternity clothes might be making an appearance very soon.
Ooh Ruck we are due date buddies, in 15 + 3 too!
I do seem to get big quickly, and as this is number 4 I'm kinda expecting to be HUGE by the end

Having lots of stretchy achey pains, so will have a chat to MW next week at my appt and get a physio referral.

Hope the blooming is starting and the sickness has passed for you all.

Ruck and jolly - er I started in mat clothes (jeans anyway) from about 10wks/11wks!! But my bump does seem huge - prob doesn't help that I had ivf as I always put weight on with treatment too - ah well, just hope its not too difficult to shift at the end

Abilee - do you think you could be having braxton hicks?? They can start quite early in a 2nd or subsequent pregnancy... just a thought..also - not sure i'm going to be able to eat a bacon sandwich for a while now

Noodles - ooh sounds exhausting but I suppose if you're used to it already then it's not as bad - hope you manage to get lots of rest this week :)

As for potty training I did DS in August when he was 2 and a half - only because he wanted big boy pants and was telling me when he was going. He did okay but I still get frustrated now and again as we can't seem to get through a fortnight without at least one accident but he's definitely getting better - I'm just going at his pace really. But he went dry at night straight away - he said he didn't want to wear nappies at night either so I tried (with the drynites sheet) and he's been dry ever since...weird, he's better at night than he is during the day but then who knows what really goes on in a toddlers mind

Got MW appt tomorrow but think I'll have to take DS, don't want to tell him about baby no.2 yet, until at least the 20wk scan, so not sure what to say when the MW listens to the heartbeat (mummy's tummy making a funny noise?)

Hi all, hope everyone having a good day. I had to share last nights dream with you. Channing Tatum was my boyfriend in it!!!! Omg, it was fab, he was declaring his un-dying love for me lol!!! Was gutted when I woke up ;-)

Back to reality, really chuffed as I got 3 tops and a dress from New Look maternity, in the sale - yay! x

yvonney - I have also been having a few, erm..sexual type dreams, makes me feel a bit strange for the rest of the day sometimes, like I've been cheating nobody famous in mine though :( - I like new look for mat clothes

I seem to have got loads of appointments through all of a sudden, Having bloods done on monday for the quad test as I couldn't have the nt combined test.

Seeing my midwife on the 5th March then meeting my consultant on the 6th March, also got my second scan on the 16th April and I'll be 22 weeks by then so going to check that with my midwife or give the antenatal clinic a call as my notes say I should have it at 20 weeks.

Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. Have been lurking, for what seems like forever, sine I got my bfp just before Christmas but after a mmc at my 12 week scan the previous Christmas I was very nervous/paranoid until this scan. Had it on valentines day and there is one very kicky long legged baby this time. Had NT test and measurements were fine and not had phone call saying am high risk so fingers crossed - was a bit worried as I'm 38 and its my first? Due on 26th August - 2 weeks before first wedding anniversary!
Have followed all the threads and want to say I'm thinking about those having a tough time and looking forward to sharing this time with everyone.

Stacey I am always glad when my appts go quick, means there's nothing wrong! From memory, I think I just get the dipstick test and listen to the heartbeat at 16 weeks, all nice and easy! I have mine on Monday, hoping MW will run on time otherwise I'll have to run to collect DS from school!

beckie hope you get some answers soon. You are due for a scan shortly, aren't you, so at least you will get another look at the baby to reassure you all is well.

abilee your headache sounds awful. I hope you feel better soon.

I am definitely in maternity clothes now, have been for about 3 or 4 weeks. Was paranoid at CP that I didn't "look" pg but just large, I much prefer having a definite bump so everyone knows I haven't just been overdoing it on the cakes! I have had to buy all new bras as well, hoping they will last me after pg (although I still have some F cup bras from last time, although I'm usually only a C cup! DH loved it!)

Movements in the bump have definitely changed. The flutterings have gone, and been replaced by very definite stretches from the baby. If I put my hand on the bump, I can feel the baby turning around underneath, which is lovely.

It's my DMum's 65th birthday in a couple of weeks. She asked for a mug with a photo of each of her grandchildren on it, so she could always have one to drink from. So, me and my DSis took all the kids to a pottery cafe place to paint their own mugs. They looked brill, they did such a good job - although only DS' mug was actually a recognisable picture. DD's and DNiece's (both 2) were a little more "abstract". It was a lot of fun, will definitely be doing that again!

Hi & welcome mrssmurfette - I also had a 12 wk mmc at beg December before last so know a bit about how you're feeling, I don't think the anxiety goes away just gets a bit better - I was a mess before the 12wk scan this time round! But keep telling myself this is a completely different pregnancy x

stopsitting - mug sounds lovely, I have also noticed I'm sticking my 'bump' out a bit more when in public so hopefully people realise I'm pg rather than fat (although I do feel v fat)

Have 16wk MW appt tomorrow but will certainly be asking for some Gaviscon and telling her all about my lower back pain so hopefully it will be longer than 5 mins - she'll prob be glad to get rid of the whingey one

Didn't listen to heartbeat or take a urine sample. Blood pressure, everything ok questions and on my way. But hey I shouldn't moan. Trying to decide when to book my gender scan. Don't want it too close to my 20 week as I want there to be a difference in the pictures if you know what I mean. But then again patience is not a virtue I've been blessed with.

Welcome MrsSmurfette, I had my scan on Valentines day too! My original due date was also 26th Aug, but have now been put back to 28th Aug. Although in my head I'm ignoring that and still due 26th! ;-)
