had a couple of dizzy spells today, while rushing around getting the dc's out the door to school.....

Had low blood pressure with a couple of my previous pg's so must try to slow down a bit and give myself time to do stuff without rushing...... easier said than done when you are so tired and you don't want to crawl out of bed!!!

someone ( can't remember who Blush) said about what you hope for with the birth... I have had 1 hospital birth (my first) and 4 hb's...... not sure what to do this time. Loved love loved my hb's, and my babies do tend to come quickly, but also aware that we live in a bungalow this time, and the kids will get woken up.

Not even sure if they will let me with number 6 (EEk that sounds mad saying that!!!!)

Am so glad I can vent on here - only told 1 person in rl..... and am currently swinging between being thrilled, terrified, feeling stupid, and worrying that something will go wrong.

Morning everyone! Wow lots of new people. I as wondering if someone could offer me some advice? After work yesterday I had a fall (it was raining and I slipped over outside and landed on my bum) it was quite painful and I felt a jolt.

This morning I feel like crap. Have had a lot of diarrhoea (sorry for tmi) and am shaking and shivering like crazy despite sitting in front of heater with loads of knitwear on. Ifeel extremely nauseous when I stand up and breathing v heavily but the main thing is the shivering. This is very new as only symptoms so far was sore boobs. I'm really scared its connected to the fall and can't call my midwife as I don't know how to explain myself in Spanish or even here I'd find her number. Scared! Does this sound like normal ms to you?

Sorry for very meme post I have no idea who else I could ask! Xxx

carcassonne · 13/02/2013 12:01

Hi everyone

Just back from an early scan due to some bleeding. All seems well, pole/heartbeat seen and sac totally normal for 6 weeks - phew! For anyone worrying about being dated earlier/later than their ovulation dates on these early scans the sonographer was very clear that it is impossible to accurately date a pregnancy this early.

Umlauf, I hope you are feeling better. Falls, at any point in pregnancy, but particularly early when your little bean is so cushioned and tucked away are very unlikely to affect the baby. I managed to do a spectacular one on ice at 34 weeks last time. Massive bruising for me, but not a worry to DD and midwives were v unconcerned.

You do sound a bit under the weather though, so it sounds like it's worth you getting someone to look over you because of the breathing and shivering. It could be that your anxiety/shock from the fall is making you feel panicky which could explain shivering/heavy breathing. Or maybe you have an unrelated bug? Do you have anyone who can call for you (i can't remember if you are permanently in Spain or just for a trip). Or could you call your doctors? You might find that a bit of professional reassurance helps you to feel calm.

cazboldy they may be concerned about postpartum bleeding as you'll be considered a 'grand multip'. You may find it useful to book an appointment with your Supervisor of Midwives - if you haven't encountered one befire they are experienced, senior midwives who will work with you to explain benefits and risks of the options and ultimately support you in making a plan that you are happy with and ensuring the local midwives are happy and confident in supporting you. If you do a search on here you'll find some recent-ish threads about women in similar positions.

Plans for birth: definitely planning on a HB after a lovely one with our first baby. Considering hiring an IM. It would be an enormous stretch for us financially but I feel totally worth it (especially giving the range of experiences I've had as a doula and the fact we've recently moved away from an area where I knew all the NHS midwives and had lots of doula colleagues ready to support me).

Folic acid. This guggiedaly.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/is-folic-acid-only-and-best-choice.html is worth a read, particularly for anyone who's had a previous baby with a tongue tie or other mid-line problem. I'm taking a folate supplement instead now (the New Chapter pre-natal supplement has folate in it) and also a 5 MTHF supplement as well as eating ridiculous amount of high-folate foods. My DD had a tongue tie which caused no end of fuss when breastfeeding so I'd really like to avoid that this time.

Sorry for long post!

cazboldy · 13/02/2013 13:49

Carcassone

Yes they told me that last time.... I rather like being considered "grand" Grin

I was told they wouldn't advise a physiological 3rd stage last time, so I agreed to have the injection..... then the placenta came while she prepared the injection! Grin

Thanks for the info - very helpful x

HotSoupDumpling · 13/02/2013 13:52

Thanks for the link Carcassonne! It's very interesting and ties up with some other bits and pieces of research I've come across. I think I'll have to carry on using Pregnacare Plus until my packets run out because I went crazy and bought a truck-load when they were half price in Superdrug but will definitely supplement with the folate-filled veg and fruit recommended in that link.

34PinkLadyApple · 13/02/2013 14:17

Hi All and good news pinkbuttons on hearing the heartbeat. Must have been very reassuring. I am [jealous] and slightly sad that we are no longer EDD buddies :(. Judging by the dating / conceiving / implanting info posted here, I think my 12 week scan might put be forward a few days because we only DTD on CD8 (Jan 2nd to be precise). I must have Ov'd around then to get my BFP on Jan 24th! The line did come up supper fast and was very dark. This early Ov also explains why I never got anything on the OPK's as I was using them from CD10-20! Tut.

I'm 7.1 weeks today and I am stupidly nervous about things going wrong and I think it's because my friend lost hers at 8 weeks but didn't find out until her 12 week scan. What's not helping is the complete lack of MS and tiredness! I have achey boobage but thats it. Thank heaven for them otherwise I'd think I was imagining it all. Have told a work friend (who's 8 weeks ahead of me) and she said don't you dare, i feel like shit and hate everything about being pregnant, enjoy it while you can (felt a bit guilty Blush. She's just got signed off for 2 weeks.

For those with a cold, I was told by the pharmacy when I was suffering that I couldn't have anything menthol so don't know if Olbas is classed as menthol. Might be worth checking.

Anyone got their 12 week scan date through? Mines on March 19th. Can't come soon enough!

Can't remember lady who has to wait until June! That can't be right! You should be having your 20 week one before that too!

Sal1977 · 13/02/2013 14:29

Oh bugger, Olbas oil defo has menthol in it. I might give the dr a quick call and ask. I never quite trust pharmacists after one told my cousin who was feeling terrible that she should eat less and exercise more as her tummy probs were down to her being fat (a whopping size 12-14). Turns out it was bowel cancer! She's all good now but how rude!!

Annoyingly in our group of friends there 2 midwives and a GP who I would gladly talk to about things....after 12 weeks! Grrrrr...

CelticPromise · 13/02/2013 15:37

Hi ladies. Congratulations all. I believe I'm 5+3 with my second, it's great to have somewhere to come and stress through the early weeks! We've been trying for a long time for this baby and I've had previous pregnancy complications so I'm doubly anxious.

No menthol, really? Isn't there menthol in chewing gum? As if there isn't enough stuff you can't have! (Mind you, I ate oysters and blue cheese on Saturday...)

RainbowsFriend · 13/02/2013 16:41

Just had my BFP so checking in :)

RainbowsFriend · 13/02/2013 16:46

A fwe details while DD is busy - am 39, this hopefully will be DC#2, although I had 2 late miscarriages prior to DD. She is 19 months and still breastfed - and I think I'm only just pregnant - nit even 14 DPO yet so crossing everything that this one sticks :)

squidkid · 13/02/2013 16:55

Hello

I had my first baby 25 Sept 2012, so she is 4 months old now, breastfeeding right now in my lap! I was on the "Due in October 2012" group from 8 weeks pregnant and it was such amazing support through pregnancy, birth, the newborn stage, and now our babies are rolling over and eyeing up our food and I still chat to the group most days.

So I just wanted to check in to the "Due in October 2013" group and wish you all the very best with your pregnancies. Good luck, and much love. xxx

Sal1977 · 13/02/2013 16:56

Ok, so just called the doctor to ask about Olbas Oil and he said that its absolutely fine to inhale it...just don't swig it from the bottle! Lol.

Marvellous!!

squidkid · 13/02/2013 16:57

Er I meant she was born 30th September, not 25th, that was my due date (adjusted at 12 week scan from 1st Oct) - slipped back into thinking in antenatal terms just reading this! Grin

moonblues · 13/02/2013 17:11

Hi. Thanks for the advice. It all happened a bit quicker than I expected so although I had been taking folic acid, I've had to raid my kids vitamin tablets! Will have to try to get to boots. Been eating lots of broccoli and trying to increase my fruit and veg intake too.
Wow daisy that's a long time to wait for a scan. Do you just get a 20 week scan? If it turns out to be twins it would be nice to know earlier!
Hi wicked 3 kids and working full time is very impressive! Do you think you'll go back to full time after this one. caz I've been getting dizzy too, mostly just when I stand up. It's strane how something so small can have such an affect on how you feel. Baby no 6 sounds exciting.
xun thanks for the tip about the tea. Most decaf tea I have tried tastes like dirty water.
umlauf sorry about your fall. I hope you feeling better. It sounds like you have a viral infection and don't think it's related to the fall. Maybe you could see a doctor if your worried.
Celtic sorry about your previous pregnancy complications and hope everything goes smoothly for you this time.

TheFalconsmistress · 13/02/2013 18:53

Hi can I join due my 2nd dc on the 4th October Smile

TheFalconsmistress · 13/02/2013 18:57

Oh and 34pinkladyapple my dating scan is 26th march Grin

JellyCurls · 13/02/2013 19:17

Oh my word I am exhausted tonight, is it too early to go to bed?

Dc1 had a major tantrum tonight and managed to headbutt my tummy and bite my boob [hmmm] not good. From tonight dh is taking over calming down duties me thinks

tuckingfits · 13/02/2013 19:53

Hi ladies. After my disappointment over not being able to book midwife appt, the gp phoned me last night to check I knew I was pregnant (well, yes!) and then receptionist phoned to book me a midwife appt today! With a quiet congratulations as they all adore DS! So I get to book in 14th March & they refer you for scan at that point so fingers crossed it all goes as it should this time.

I'm at work on a quick break so apologies for the me me me post, will need to spend some time catching up with you all!!

MrsExcited · 13/02/2013 20:15

I'm quite excited at having my Midwife appointment on Friday despite not being due till the 13/10, I ended up self refering as i walked into the docctors to make an appointment and was told i didn't need one! The midwife rang me the next day to organise it, on hearing i was a teacher she suggested this week (being half term here I know it isn't everywhere!) would work well for both of us, so she is arriving at my house between 3-3.30 on Friday!!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 13/02/2013 20:37

Hello mrsexcited I am a teacher too but don't have half term until next week. I am SO tired and ready for it but not sure if it pregnancy or just usual tiredness. Let us know how the appointment goes.

CelticPromise · 13/02/2013 20:45

Thankyou moon. I'm doing healthy eating too, been losing weight recently and don't want to pile it all back on by 12 weeks!

I'm seeing GP on Friday, not expecting much but I need to be referred to a specialist clinic because of previous issues and I think be put on aspirin. I am hopeful I'll get an early dating scan because I'm high risk- silver lining!

Good luck with early appointments all.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 13/02/2013 20:46

Thanks squidkid!

Hello newbies...welcome to the thread and congratulations!

We told parents and pil today. It was brilliant. Lots of smiles from from pils who are delighted. My dd and dm just sat open mouthed for about 20 seconds but we very happy. Probably one of the best days of my life.

WillSantaComeAgain · 13/02/2013 21:05

So booking appointment today, and the MW tried to book me in for an early scan, but they wouldn't accept me. (I had a mmc previously and have got not a single pregnancy symptom, in total contrast to when pg with DC1) So her advice was to go to a different hospital that takes self referrals and to lie claiming abdominal pain. I'm a bit Hmm but given that I am having nightmares and feeling sick with anxiety, I think I'm going to do as she suggests. Otherwise I will worry to point of being unable to function. But I am feeling horrifically guilty at the thought of lying to HCPs and at wasting resources. Please don't judge me Sad

tuckingfits · 13/02/2013 21:31

No judgement from here & I feel sure nobody else will either. It's hardly a waste of resources if it helps put your mind at ease. Your midwife has agreed with you that you should be scanned for you peace of mind knowing your previous history,so just keep thinking about that. :)

roxvox · 13/02/2013 21:34

Wow! A lot has happened since I last posted a message... Here goes;

Welcome and congratulations to everyone who is new. There was a list somewhere that I will try to bump up so everyone can add themselves to it.

PinkButtons I am so glad your scan went well. And welcome to the October 8th club Smile I too am a bit jealous that you got to see a heartbeat!

Umlauf I hope that you are feeling better now. I am not a doctor, but it does sound as though your pregnancy and your new symptoms are unrelated. I don't suppose you're able to call NHS Direct from Spain (I guess it depends on whether you are still with the NHS, but I am guessing not).

Iheartcrunchiebars I am very jealous of you telling your parents already. I really badly want to tell mine when I see them this weekend... I have it all planned! But am forcing myself to wait until 12 weeks. We next visit them 4 days after I turn 12 weeks so I am hoping to get a scan that week and then be able to tell them at the weekend. I cannot wait.

Pannacotta did you get your symptoms back or call the doctor in the end? The very minor symptoms I have appear to be fading, which I find quite scary, but then again the same happened last week and they came back after a couple of days.

The only symptoms I currently have are sore boobs (although they have either started to feel a bit better of their own accord, or this night bra is really helping), constipation (could just be the multivitamin that includes iron though) and I have also had a couple of 'crying for no apparent reason' days. However I do think that's down to stress worrying about what's going on inside me.

Sorry for the long post... I will try to find that list of people now!
