Welcome and congratulations poppetrocket

tuckingfits · 06/02/2013 21:17

Wow! Very busy on the thread today! Congratulations to all the new people.

I've had a busy day,ds's second day at playgroup today, left him,had a cuppa with my mum, came home to shampoo dog sick out of carpet, got a call that DS was upset about the goggie not feeling well, went back to sit with him for story time, then we hoovered & shampooed the carpets upstairs, had lunch,he went for a nap & I got on with the laundry. Partner came home & I went food shopping.

Spent a bloody fortune in Lidl, then had to go to Tesco to get dairy free stuff for DS so that was another 40 quid gone! Got lots of wipes,a new changing mat & pillow for DS & breast pads though that were reduced in the baby event sale thing,so not too bad & feel as though I have sated my need to buy something for this baby even if it is just a couple of days supply of breast pads!

I fear I will pay later,am exhausted now & still have a couple of customer orders to deal with tonight,Friday night & Sunday night. Working in the pub tomorrow & Sat nights! No rest for the wicked...

34PinkLadyApple · 06/02/2013 21:21

Welcome poppet and congrats! When are you going to tell dh?

TMI alert! Ive had constipation for a couple of weeks now where ive only gone every 2 or 3 days but today ice been 3 times! Blush. I still feel bloated though :(. Had bout of stonach cramps after last 'movement' which are still there in background like AF pains. Been given a couple if books, rough guide to pregnancy and pregnancy for dummies and ive nearly read both as ive been off sick with this stinky cold today. I keep thinking everytime i sneeze or cough the poor bean might unstick?!!! I know its irrational but trying to minimise the pressure in tunny when doing either :)

Having read that at 6.1 weeks the heart should be beating i just want to hear it or see it. I am wishing away the next few weeks til my scan on 19th march. I have my booking appointment on the 5th march, will they check heartbeat then? First timer so i know nothing!

Elleroo · 06/02/2013 21:22

Hi Val

Tucking that's quite a day you had there! I have yet to satisfy my urge to buy something...my DH is being surprisingly suspiscious.

Elleroo · 06/02/2013 21:27

*superstitious

GTbaby · 06/02/2013 21:31

Umlaf. Be sure u want MS rather then hunger. As it may switch soon. With MS u get hunger AND nausea. I'm praying I don't get MS.

  1. MW will not listen to heart beat for quite some time. I think it was around 20 week point for me.

Gosh it wasnt even a year ago I was having these first mum panics. I haven't even packed my maternity clothes away! But then I look at my gorgeous LO. Who is on my lap feeding ATM. And think wow I get another amazing lil bubba just like you.

roxvox · 06/02/2013 22:44

34PinkLadyApple I am so glad it's not just me! We're actually exactly the same on that. Really horrid 'blocked up' couple of days, followed by quite the opposite all day today!

Sorry if TMI everyone!

I am still yet to have any hunger related symptoms (inc MS). Whilst I am happy not to have the MS, I kind of feel as though that is a key part of pregnancy and it concerns me that I have not had any of it at all! But to be honest it is far easier to hide the pregnancy from work colleagues without it Smile

tuckingfits · 06/02/2013 22:58

I've only had nausea when absolutely starving. However since I can be hungry again 20 minutes after a meal it's starting to annoy me. I've got a stash of ginger snap biscuits to nibble at when the pangs of hunger start up. As I still have a stone to lose from having DS,I really could do without being bloody hungry all the time!

I had the opposite problem to you guys when pregnant last time - my ibs kicked in big time & I could spend easily an hour stuck to the loo too scared to leave. Not good at work... This time although things have been a bit slow to get moving (tmi) I haven't had any problems yet. Touch wood. Am only 4+2 though I think so still plenty of time for it to develop!

GTbaby · 07/02/2013 00:28

My little tip. I have a tub of mixed nuts by my bed. You will wake up in the middle of the night starving! Or in the morning have a handful before getting up helps with MS.

There is medication you can take for the MS. So if it gets bad see your gp. I couldn't keep down anything for a week by the time I saw my gp. My lips were cracked. I was hardly peeing,( very dark and strong stink) my skin on face, hand and arms were so dry. Gp told me I had to try harder to drink water or I'd end up in hospital. DH then made me sip water every 15mins. Tiny sips. Even through the night, which we worked out was best time as I was still for so long.

I am dreading the MS this time. As I can't just take a month off work as I did last time. my work is looking after LO!

Well we are in for a crazy 9 months ladies!

And to all the first time mums any questions. No matter how small ask away. I know how much my last ante natal thread helped me and what a great support they were and still are.

PenelopeLane · 07/02/2013 06:01

pink it's different this time because the nausea is more intense, and last time the most prominent thing in the beginning was insane thirst which I don't have this time. With DS I got really hairy as well, and wonder if its a girl whether that will happen too.

I ate two pies for lunch today after not having had one for months. Weird tastes ...

GT your ms sounds terrible. FX none of us have that

tackytiger · 07/02/2013 06:16

Midwife app today! I made the app thinking I needed it as a trigger for the scan, but we've already had our date through!
I had no MS last time, but terrible travel sickness. Same again so far at 6+5. I am getting the crippling tiredness though. Most days I could just lie down and weep with it. Also, am hungry ALL the fecking time.

OP posts:
PenelopeLane · 07/02/2013 06:41

I'm the same tacky re the tiredness. I had all these grand plans of eating better this pregnancy than the last and still working out, but at only 6+3 tiredness and desire to eat starch, carbs and crisps is conspiring against me!

Rockchick1984 · 07/02/2013 07:46

Rox I never had MS when having my son so it's nothing to worry about!

34 my MW was happy to try and hear the heartbeat from 16 weeks but she waned me that there's no guarantee of finding it so early. I had an early scan last pregnancy at 7 weeks and saw the heartbeat then, think we are going to get one this time as well, 12 weeks is such a long time to wait!

I'm still doing daily tests at the moment, not quite got my head around it all!! TMI but does anyone have - erm - excess gas??? I seem to be farting ALL the time, don't remember this from DS!!

Haylebop12 · 07/02/2013 08:31

I had HG with both my pregnancies. Got on with it with dd but my 2nd pg I was admitted and given anti sickness. Wonderful drugs Grin

Going to call doctors later to get booked in.

Also suffering tiredness and have loads of earlies at work ATM. (6am)

roofio87 · 07/02/2013 09:26

anyone else thinking about getting a maternity bra yet? I'm only 5+2 so wanted to wait a little while but they are just growing at a rapid rate and becoming very uncomfortable. I lost some wait last year so still have some slightly bigger bras that I'm fitting in but want something more comfy. there's a retail park with an m&s and mothercare on my way to work so might go tonight. feel like I'm jinxing things buying anything already, but feel I need this!! thoughts?!?!

WillSantaComeAgain · 07/02/2013 09:30

34 The MW offered to listen for a heartbeat at my booking appt with DC1, when I was 9+5 or so. She couldn't hear anything and said its very rare to be able to, so don't panic if they listen and find nothing.

Had a paranoid night last night, as I have convinced myself there is nothing in there (had a MMC last time). No symptoms at all - no sore boobs, no nausea, no hunger (well, no more than usual). The only two things that might be symtoms are tiredness (but lots of other reasons to be tired, and its not a chronic as last time) and constipation. Going to see if I can convince MW to book me in for an early scan, as I really do not want to wait till I'm 12 weeks weeks to find out the past three months was a waste of time like last time.

On the gas thing - very embarassingly, I got wind/gas when pg with DC1 and its never really gone away. What's embarrassing is that I seem to have lost the ability to hold them in if I'm standing up now. Esp if I'm walking. Blush Its gross and I spend a lot of time coughing to cover up the sound.

Anyone else slightly Blush about having an EDD at the end of Sept... every year, I Hmm at the number of people with birthdays at the end of Sept and think "oooh, a Christmas baby heh?". When I know that I ovulated on 7 Jan so its nothing to do with Christmas at all for us?! Perhaps this is my punishment for judging so much.

WillSantaComeAgain · 07/02/2013 09:40

On the maternity bras, I feel quite strongly about this. If you have a correctly fitting bra, you do not need to stop wearing underwired bras. This is something the lovely ladies at Bravissimo have checked out with the Royal College of Midwives (or whatever its called). Maternity bras are hideous mono boob things that provide zero support to your expanding bust. If I wanted to avoid underwires, I would rather wear a sports bra, where at least my giant pendulous bazookas would stand a chance of not getting wrecked.

While I'm on my soap box Grin if you want to get measured properly, do NOT go to M&S. You need to go somewhere that sells something like Rigby and Peller (or Bravissimo if you're over a C cup... even if you're a B cup, you may find you're actually a Bravissimo girl) as they will measure you properly. Don't worry if you don't buy something from there, but at least you know what you're looking for. I got measured by a friend (who worked for R&P in the Uni holidays) and she took me from a 36C to a 32DD. And oh, my boobs looked better for it. I've never looked back!

(There was, I'm sure, another girl on here who used to work at Bravissimo - perhaps she can confirm).

roofio87 · 07/02/2013 09:44

thanks so much Santa I really have no idea about these things!! yeah I've heard its ok to keep wearing underwired if they fit you properly!! will have a good look/shop round to see what's out there. I'm naturally quite bug boobed so a proper bra shop is probably best x

roxvox · 07/02/2013 10:26

santa I feel exactly the same. All my symptoms seem to have dropped quite a lot and I am so concerned that something bad has happened. I am trying really hard not to worry, but it's not easy. I am still pretty tired, but then again I have been working a lot lately. My stomach cramps have dropped off, and the only 'symptoms' left are the tiredness, ibs and remotely sore boobs.

I might have to take another pregnancy test tonight and hope for a very strong line.

Umlauf · 07/02/2013 10:26

I used to work at Bravissimo head office before by massive life change overseas move, but I don't think I have mentioned it on here?! But yet if anyone does need any help I can answer most bra queries and fit you.

I've gone up a cup size and half a back size! Annoyingly, working for bravissimo I have hundreds of beautiful sets, and I don't know if they will ever fit me again! It's definitely true about the underwire thing, the only reason it's recommended to wear soft cups is because so many people don't know how to tell if they are wearing the wrong size, and so its easier to advise soft cups to eliminate all problems. I would still recommend a maternity/soft cup bra to sleep in though, godsend!

Fuller balconette styles are good for pregnancy like the Panache Tango and the Fantasie Elodie, but get the cheapest possible as you may change again. The most frustrating thing (and I never realised how annoying it was until I'm pregnant now!) is that you can never predict when and how and by how much your boobs will change. Even after the pregnancy. In general though we used to recommend people go up at least 3 cup sizes, 4 if you wear the breast pads. That puts me at a.... 30hh/j. Blimey!

AnythingNotEverything · 07/02/2013 10:55

I'm a bit nervous ... But I think I need to join you! AF was due today but I had faint bfps last nigt and this morning with fmu. So I guess I'm pregnant!

According to the nhs calculator, I'm due 15th October ... Nice to read about some of you who are a couple of weeks ahead!

I'm 31 and have a ds who is 12 3/4 (yup - I was one of those dreaded teenage parents!).

Don't feel much in terms of symptoms to be honest. Sore boobs, tired, lacking my mojo at work. Early days yet though.

Has anyone changed their eating habits much? I'm trying to alternate caff and decaf tea, and won't be drinking any alcohol ... Apart for. Folic acid (taken religiously since end of November!) is there anything else I should be doing?!

Fx we all stick xx

Rockchick1984 · 07/02/2013 11:18

Welcome anything! I've also started trying to drink decaf coffee - apparently 2 cups of normal instant coffee per day is fine but I like a nice strong filter coffee to start each day and I know that's higher in caffeine than instant so that one will be my treat, the rest will be decaf I'm a coffee addict on about 8 cups a day usually :) Also taking folic acid, avoiding alcohol and trying to eat 5 fruit/veg each day as normally I eat 1 or 2 on a good day!!

So glad I'm not the only one with gas issues - mine are more of the silent but deadly variety - wonder if the extra fruit and veg may have something to do with it!!
