New thread created in haste before the old one fills up!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chocciemousse · 31/01/2013 20:20

fl0b0t I have spent a lot of this time either in the bathroom or sleeping. I wouldn't recommend the bathroom but the sleeping is doing me a world of good. Also reading a trashy novel has helped me keep my mind off feeling sick. It is definitely boring but there is no way I would be surviving being at work right now.

CarrieJayne · 31/01/2013 20:33

Everyone got a Brew? Just come back to add this at the beginning of my message as have written an essay tonight...

Jm me too! Although generally itchy all over body in the evenings too, so think I may just have dry skin in this pg so far?

Anyone know what the rule is on hot baths? Didn't know it was a thing until someone on here mentioned something... Will consult Dr Google now I think.

Poonli my first DC too, I've just had my booking in with the midwife (yesterday) at 8+2. She said that was very early to be booked in, usually 10-11 weeks with scan at 12 but she was very helpful with all my questions. She said that they usually don't get you in until the risk of mc is lower (which is not a cheerful thought) hence why I think it is so near the end of the first trimester usually. Hopefully they will be a bit more supportive after 12 week scan. I did get a great leaflet in my notes that tells you all of the appointments and when they are likely to be throughout the pg, along with extra ones that some women may have if any problems etc, so that was helpful. She also gave me the number to my local midwife-led centre and told me I can book in an appointment to look round at any time.

I have to fess up... I know it is very early (I am stupidly superstitious) but I bought a 0-3 months babygro today from Gap kids. Has anyone seen the Peter Rabbit range, sooooo adorable! www.peterrabbit.com/en/gap

It is a little thing in my head that says "this is actually happening" as my first (early) scan was good. DH says he will buy me another baby thing after 12 week scan if all ok so excited now! Not going to start to feel real until I properly start to show (ie not bloat) I don't think.... Has it sunk in for any other first-timers yet?

So sorry to all those with bad news over the last couple of days, hugs to you all

CarrieJayne · 31/01/2013 20:35

fl0b0t my GP referred me for my scan when I went at 6w to tell her I was upduffed. Got it through the post the next week at 12+1 on 25th Feb. Midwife asked if I had been referred yet so guess either way works.

Readytosettle · 31/01/2013 20:46

I saw the doc at 4+3 and have booking in booked for 9 (they wanted to do 8 but I'll be on hols). Am now 6+2 , received my medical exemption card yesterday & scan appt for 12 wks today. Every trust probably has different timescales though....

Carrie the rule on hot baths is don't get so hot you feel dizzy/need to hang your leg out the side. It's all about your body temp....similar to not using saunas/steam rooms.

fl0b0t · 31/01/2013 20:47

Cool ok thanks! I might be going back to dr for MS drugs :( next week so can double check!

jm233 · 31/01/2013 20:54

Carrie I saw them a few days ago, they are so nice!!!

YY to inconspicuous boob itching!

Whyriskit · 31/01/2013 21:02

I didn't even see doc but got referral number from reception, phoned it and got appt with midwife for 8 weeks (today - eek!) and scan date for 12. Midwife gave me my next appointment with her (rather than assorted specialists) for another 8 wks from now. I don't know if it would be sooner if it was my 1st tho.

andadietcoke · 31/01/2013 21:05

I had my booking in appt this week and at the appt she booked me in for 16 weeks and also did the paperwork for my 12 week scan. Apparently I'll get the appt through the post for the scan.

TotalShock · 31/01/2013 21:26

Poonli - I agree with you too. I didn't even see a doctor and just got a phone number for the midwife, then a letter for a booking appointment next week when I'll be 9+6 but don't know about a scan, so will it be easy enough to get a scan in time??? It's our first as well so feel like I don't know anything and could be doing something wrong at any time... I keep seeing things on here that I didn't know about or need to look up!!!!

Plus I sometimes think if I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't know, I do feel sick but not been sick, sore boobs and very tired but I have so much on at the mo, I'm up at 6am and finish about 8.30pm (work and other commitments) so my only convincing symptom is missing 2 periods... Which then leads me to worry about mmc but we've not told anyone yet so all these thoughts are bottled up inside my head!!

I'm so sorry for all the loses and hope everyone else is doing well

fl0b0t · 31/01/2013 21:29

I'm sure it will all make sense at the booking in appt :)

Anyone know the regulations on hot baths during pregnancy? I love a hot bath but seen suggestions that they're not safe?!

kimjayne · 31/01/2013 21:55

flobot - im with you! i rely on my baths to keep me feeling human during the sickness. So i have done a bit of googling. It seems that as long as your skin doesn't go pink/red from the heat of water and you don't feel light headed then you are okay! I've just been having cooler baths than normal. its still lovely and relaxing! :) hope that helps

Poonli · 31/01/2013 22:08

Thanks all - nice to know that this is the norm. I guess I should just try to be more patient and wait (easier said than done).

I'm working 12 hours a day so that's at least keeping me busy (I'm very grateful for not having any MS). Can't wait to tell work - wishful thinking that my team will be more considerate.....

sumrandomgirl · 31/01/2013 23:53

had my first midwife meeting today, Smile still don't "feel" pregnant though, no sickness but very tired, glad my boyf understands I ain't just lazy.
so sorry to hear all the mc's and it is constantly at the back of my head, I have had 3 good pregnancys and hope this is the same.
and there are loads of twins...wow...good luck to you there and hope all goes well..Grin Grin

Rosyisgonnabeamummy · 01/02/2013 07:07

So sorry that we've had a bus stop with so many getting off. Have a glass of vino and fingers crossed another bus comes along soon.

I had to skip all posts about food as nausia has escalated to full blown projectile car vomiting. How embarrassing. Phoned hubby for sympathy - have you cleaned the car? Didn't you have something to vom into??

I do now.

Also. Raging hormones = worst argument of our relationship. No main event for us since new year, and not looking good for the rest of the year following disagreement! And other contributing factors - strep b and vaginal thrush + oral antibiotics + pessary = oral thrush and general miserableness.

I am assured the second trimester is lovely.

Final question. Anyone else 10w on fri? Is so what is your due date? Can I copy? Thanks
X

Dorita75 · 01/02/2013 07:21

Poonli I went to doc, was a locum and he wasn't sure of my surgery's procedure so I ended up telling him what happened last time..tho that ended in mmc. Despite this it is different this time, I had to ring women's hospital to make booking in app, which due to hols and work is 13th Feb when I should be 9+5. They said on phone that they sort scan date and free prescription form then too. My doc didn't work out my due date this time either, or give me Emma's diary. I remember last yr feeling a bit like I wasn't getting enough attention, and surely someone must be doing something...however after the way it worked out for me, I can see why they don't do much until later on. There's basically nothing to do. This isn't helpful when you have questions but I suppose that's where the internet comes in and at the end of the day, we can always just ring someone in local medical world if we want to check anything.

Try not to worry too much and just look after yourself over the next few weeks...

Thanks for hot bath confirmation, I wasn't sure but love baths and have about 3 a week!

Can't remember who asked (on phone so can't easily scroll back) but yes, I've had itchy nipples which have calmed down now. Get itchy shins too...?

Up for breakfast soon, resuming my current diet of bread and cheese....I usually drink about 2 litres of water a day but can't face it anymore, manage about half a pint if that all day. Does it matter if I drink fruit juice instead?

Kittenkatzen · 01/02/2013 07:39

Thanks For you rosy, the car vomming does not sound like fun :( hope you and your DH patch things up soon - if it makes you feel any better I seem to be the queen of starting stupid arguments right now. The latest one being yesterday morning when DH pointed out that the top I had chosen was flashing my now enormous norks (it really was!)....I went off on one about wearing what I like thanks and who does he think he is telling me what to wear people shouldn't be looking anyway....it was 6.30am and the poor guy was only trying to stop me embarrassing myself at work! Confused

I think it's odd how different the treatment we're all getting is - you'd think the procedures would be standardised across the nhs?!

kimjayne · 01/02/2013 08:52

im 8 weeks 5 today and my sickness has stopped! it was constant before and i was being sick 2-3 times a day. My boobs also feel fine. Im freaking out. Has anyone else had this and still been okay? starting to really stress Sad

jennimoo · 01/02/2013 08:57

Don't panic. I think it's normal to have random days you don't have nausea. I haven't noticed it this time round unfortunately but definitely did last time. You'll probably find it back with a vengeance tomorrow ;)

KamikazeeKid · 01/02/2013 08:58

My guess is it may come back! I get good days and panic as I don't feel sick then bam!!! More sickness usually worse!!!

SGJ · 01/02/2013 09:06

Who was it on the thread that had flu? I've been ill for 2 weeks now, even had a day off yesterday to get better and now I feel worse. Went to the walk in centre on Wednesday and they said I had no visible signs of anything except a red throat but today I feel like my ears are going to burst...
And on a more stressful note, because of feeling so rotten with cold, I've not had any symptoms for 2 weeks either....

andadietcoke · 01/02/2013 09:09

kimjayne I had that at the weekend, and it's back worse than ever now. Saying that though, I found lots of people saying their ms only lasted a week or so, so maybe you'll be lucky!

spanishlady good luck with your scan today

My AF would have been due today and I've got achey abdominal pain. Is this normal?

jm233 · 01/02/2013 09:11

Sgj- I was told by MW that its ok as long as you don't run a fever for too long. From what other ladies said it sounds like catching bugs is quite common, due to reduced immune system. You probably still have your symptoms, they're just masked by feeling rotten from flu!

sumrandomgirl · 01/02/2013 09:12

I found having a small thing to eat in the morning has helped...one potatoe cake, one bit ov toast etc an that helped settle my belly an then stopped any sickness....I usually feel sicki in a morning though so its nowt new for me haha...
as for baths, one a night for me, along with a book an a bit of munch...bliss.
tiredness has been my main problem, which then turns to me snapping etc at my kids...they all know why though....

SaggyOldClothCatpuss · 01/02/2013 09:20

Hi guys, just wanted to pop in for a final farewell. I'm fairly certain I miscarried yesterday, and the EPAU say that the hCG test they did has fallen from the last one the doctor did, so it's game over here. I'm totally gutted right now, and hiding in my bed with the dog for company, he won't leave my side right now. DP is doing his usual 'have a pat on the shoulder, I'm not going to talk about it' but the kids have been wonderful. Hopefully ill be back on the bus soon, but for now, take care of yourselves, try not to worry too much, and I wish you all at least one lovely snugly baby in about 8 months time. All my love, Saggy. X

sumrandomgirl · 01/02/2013 09:33
