lutrinae I work in Walthamstow live in Romford. Not sure of protocol but up for a pudding club meeting pre baby and def mummy and baby lunches in Walthamstow Village post baby, or anywhere else London/Essex if anyone else is?

growyourown77 · 17/01/2013 21:35

Blimey, it's taken me four days to catch up on posts from last Thursday! Smile

Mama and floss - great to hear good news both sides. Floss, hang in there and stay chilled.

Sorry to hear so many having challenging times.

Teapig I know what you mean about waking at 4am and being in a sleep pickle after that....and the long dyas and commuting up town. I'm finding sitting at a desk most of the day then on a train for over an hour way way is giving me backache. However I did start a local antenatal yoga class and have been two weeks in a row, so that's helping along with my morning yoga stretches (that I do when I can't sleep!). I really notice it when I don't do them.

Must keep up the pelvic floor exercises too as this persistent cough is making me go through boxes of tena lady! Grin

Here's to a weekend holed up due to snow, painting the spare room and drinking hot chocolate!

26+2

milktraylady · 17/01/2013 21:38

Yay let's do a meet up! I live in Upminster (Essex) but can easily get to Romford.

We went to kiddicare tonight and bought loads- cot, mattress, bedding & glider chair! That's £300 gone, blimey. All in the sale & we got another 10% off for having to wait ages at the til! Bonus!

Is anyone else finding the number of medical appointments alot? I am surprised how many I have.

I don't post much, as am really anxious, but it's so lovely hearing from everyone, it's like being part of a book that's being writtenSmile

EssexWelsh · 17/01/2013 22:14

Are you on Facebook group milktray or PM me.

milktraylady · 17/01/2013 22:16

Hi I haven't joined the fb group yet, but will!
(I don't know how to pm from iPhone)

bunnygirl80 · 17/01/2013 22:27

floss great news that baby's staying put a while longer

cocochops I got a new mattress for the Moses basket. We leant it to friends and I'm not sure if they used a different mattress or used ours, and I just thought it'd probably be a bit worn out if it's now onto its third occupant. I think guidlines are to get a new mattress for each child

I slept all night last night, but now feel even tireder than normal Confused.

milktraylady · 17/01/2013 22:48

Aha! I will not be defeated by iPhone- join request sent to fb group Grin

Dysgu · 17/01/2013 23:11

I sent a request to join fb group but nothing has happened. Not sure if I did it wrong (my initials are N S and my profile pic is my 2 DDs standing on a model of the island).

ILoveNoodles · 18/01/2013 01:15

Hey Romford ladies

Essex and milktray I am up the road from Romford too! Don't wanna say too much here as I don't even have my area or where I live on facebook lol!

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 18/01/2013 02:43

Catching up on posts whilst ds coughs away in my arms, he has been vomiting too, I am exhausted, and funding my reactions to grab sick bowl, tissues etc, are currently less than ninja like due to bump. Also because I changed my bed sheets this morning, he obviously had to puke on them today Shock wish I could stop him coughing though, sounds horrid.

Hope you're all well. How do I join the fb group via my phone?

Fluffeh · 18/01/2013 07:00

Aww cheese I hope he feels better soon.

Did a bit if baby stuff shopping yesterday and my spare room is starting to resemble mothercare lol Pampers are on offer at boots at £8 for the bigger pack so we got 2 of those and the free changing bag for DP, I have a pink one to match the pram :).
Boots also have buy one get one half price on baby clothes, I'm trying to convince DP we need a striped rainbow babygro :D. It's a bit too much to spend on just one item though with how money is atm.
We also picked up the Emma's diary packs from Argos, inside there was 4 50% off mamia nappies and wipes coupons hopefully they'll last us until the baby fits in reusables.
Had our second antenatal class yesterday but I had to leave half way through as the room was so warm I felt really sick. But we did listen to the talk on SIDS safety and bathing and baby massage. The baby who came in to demo was not pleased with getting naked in front if all those strangers, poor little chap. He was pretty good though and really relaxed being massaged.
They run free classes of baby massage at the surestart centre so I'm hoping to go along to them when she's born.

Teapig · 18/01/2013 07:48

Hey essex, milktray and noodles, I'm a fellow Essex girl. I'm in Southend but could get to Romford pretty easily, it's not far on the train and I'm a hardened commuter. I used to live in Walthamstow, still miss the Village.

grow, I hope the back ache eases up. I was getting it a bit until I was given a special back support thing for my chair at work, that seems to have made all the difference.

A weekend holed up in the snow sounds good to me. We're painting the nursery this weekend and assembling furniture, so exciting!

Dysgu · 18/01/2013 08:45

We have snow so schools are closed but I am meant to have my GTT this morning. I have been trying to call the clinic but can only reach the main switchboard who promised a call back but said many clinics are still running but that they would be happy to reschedule the appointment if needed.

My stomach is starting to rumble - DDs think it is baby bump growling at us as it is sad to be missing out on the snow!

birdbrain17 · 18/01/2013 09:03

lutrinae would have been nice if we were local but I live in Edgware and work in Colindale. I guess london is a big place....

It's started snowing outside, hoping they close school early I have so much to do tonight, it's just been one of those weeks where nothing got done!

Trishstar · 18/01/2013 09:06

No 4d scan for us today :-(

OH is refusing to even attempt to go! Just looked at the voucher and it says 48 hour cancellation policy tho!

jj247 · 18/01/2013 09:37

Hope everyone isn't too badly affected by the snow this weekend. We seem to be getting off lightly up in our part of Yorkshire, but my folks are under a few inches already in Wales, so it looks like the meet up I had planned with my Mum at John Lewis in Cheadle will be cancelled tomorrow :( Really disappointed as it would have been the first time I had had a chance to look at baby stuff in an actual shop instead of online, (my town sells no baby stuff (apart from a few clothes in Next) or maternity wear!)

That said, currently waiting for a call back from the midwife as I'd been worrying about not putting any weight on for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the week, then this morning stepped on the scales and I've actually lost weight. I'm sure it is fine really as can feel little bean wriggling, and it is just because I'm stressed at work, but just want to get a word of reassurance!

Then I rang my Mum to see how the snow was her end to check if we're likely to meet up and found out she is at the Doctors, getting a lump checked on her breast. She didn't want to worry me apparently (she had a breast removed due to breast cancer years ago). Praying it hasn't come back.

Knackered and hormonal, so just want to go home and hide away from it all, no chance though! Got a builder coming round to see if he can do anything with our kitchen later today, (to quote for work, not actually do it!) as it was -4 in there this morning and it is awful/unhygienic in there with loads of cracks to trap food. it is tiny though, so by the time the walls/ceiling/floor get insulated it would probably be the size of a fridge! :)

Sorry to be mememe, just feel like it is all a bit too much at the mo. doubtless a good sleep over the weekend will fix it all :)

Trishstar · 18/01/2013 09:46

JJ hope everything is ok with your Mum. Xxx

angeltattoo · 18/01/2013 11:04

Hi Everyone,

Feeling very sorry for myself here, I went out for my antenatal appt but ended up sliding in the car, hitting a triple height kerb, damaging my car and hitting my head very hard :-(

I am home now, have cancelled my appt, but I have a whacking headache, and my DH is abroad :-(

There is noone else who can take to the hospital, so I am sitting on my sofa hoping I do not have an epic head injury. I have a headache, but no nausea or vomitting, so I suppose I'll just keep an eye on it? I cannot drive my damaged car so I cannot get to hospital. DH is due back this evening, if flights into Gatwick are ok.

I didn't hit bump, and she seems to be moving ok, but does anyone have any advice or words of comfort? I am feeling very alone and sorry for myself without DH Cannot believe he is not here!!!

ILoveNoodles · 18/01/2013 11:15

angeltattoo hugs from me, maybe give docs or midwife a quick ring to make sure. I hope you are alrite xx

ILoveNoodles · 18/01/2013 11:18

Got to get ds from school early as they are closing cos of the snow sending oh so I can stay inside xx

JaquelineHyde · 18/01/2013 11:38

Oooh angel rest, rest, rest and be aware of any twinges in your neck, shoulders or back for up to 48 hours. If you do feel any, go and get some pain relief asap . It took 48 hrs for my whiplash to set in and I have been in agony with it.

I'm just waiting for the call from school to go and collect DD1, luckily we got the shopping done afetr dropping her off this morning before the snow started, so we are set for staying indoors for as long as needed and that is just what we need as the house looks like a bomb has hit it!

milktraylady · 18/01/2013 12:40

Blimey angel, hope you are ok.
Maybe phone the midwife for advice?
Take care

Dysgu · 18/01/2013 12:49

Managed to cancel my hospital appointment so they will reschedule for next week - which means more planning to have my class covered at school and I also have my two appointments next week already! I imagine my boss will also be counting the days until my ML starts at this rate - although they have yet to advertise for my replacement!

Hospital was great once I managed to speak to antenatal people (the switchboard was nice enough but you could really tell the difference once I got through to antenatal!). They were very concerned that I should not try to get there - I am on a bust route and so are they - especially as I have my 2DDs and it would not be ideal to have them sitting around for 2 hours. The midwife told me to stay home, eat breakfast and put my feet up Grin

So we have been at the park for the past two hours! I am sure I will pay for it in a few hours especially as we stopped off at the shop on the way home and I ended up filling 4 carrier bags Blush to carry home (although DD1 carried one Smile )

And even better, DP has sent a text to say his place is closing at 1 o'clock so he should be home by 3 - depending on when the boats run at this time of day - so would I be a really bad mummy if I plonk my girls in front of the TV for lunch and a bit of CBeebies and then DP can build the snowman we have planned for the back garden once he gets in?!

angel I imagine you are feeling even worse that you otherwise would as you are on your own. Hopefully your headache will ease off and there will be no other pains but I would give your MW or clinic a call as they can reassure you. Perhaps you can hunt out a taxi telephone number just in case you need to go up and be checked.

jj it really seems as though everything is coming for you and your family at once too. I hope your mum's results come back quickly and that they are good news. Fingers crossed.

growyourown77 · 18/01/2013 12:52

Thanks teapig I'll get one sorted from facilities. What colour/theme are you doing your nursery? We're no a woodland theme and my mum's knitting some badgers and hedgehogs and handcrafted toys. I know the baby won't notice or care for ages, but it's fun for me and DH!

angel keep an eye on yourself, and like milktray says, call your midwife for advice and if your headache gets any worse call an ambulance or a taxi.
