I know miarose the time is just flying by. I can't believe it's only a week and a bit until the 3rd trimester starts for me. It's funny to think back to the early weeks when time went SO slowly!

SneezySnatcher · 15/01/2013 21:41

Just done FB request!

Teapig · 15/01/2013 22:45

So pleased that everything is ok ratbag. I had the same with lack of movement a couple of weeks ago and so glad I got it checked out, it's not worth the worry.

I've asked to join the FB group too, looking forward to putting faces to names.

I had an MW appointment today so booked the day off, lovely hearing baby's heart beat. Afterwards we went to Ikea and got some stuff for the nursery, can't want until DH has finished painting and we can assemble the furniture.
I've been trying to buy purely practical things but I caved today and bought this lovely giraffe wall hanging: www.potterybarnkids.com/products/girls-safari-canvas-art/?pkey=bnew-baby-arrivals-accessories Hoping the sonographer was right that it's a girl as it's a bit too pink for a boy.

bunnygirl80 · 16/01/2013 03:57

Glad all was well ratbag. I've requested to join the fb group.

Just waiting to go in for my 28week appointment. Am hoping they'll be able to tell baby to move herself out of my stomach so I can eat more than a mouthful without feeling sick Grin

ILoveNoodles · 16/01/2013 03:58

I've also requested to join fb.

Fluffeh · 16/01/2013 07:14

Wow so many posts since my last visit!
I've requested to join the fb group too, thanks for setting it up rat bag :).

I went back to the gp yesterday with the acid heartburn and she prescribed rantinidine (may be spelt wrong lol). Hopefully that will work over the next few days. She said not to take it with any other medication as it can hinder the absorption of them. Especially iron.

Finally going baby toiletries shopping tomorrow. We're only intending to buy what's needed but I could do with a bit of help please. So far i think we'll need - nappies, cotton wool, sudocream, nappy sacks and some kind of baby bath product? Does that sound ok? I don't want to forget anything and were really limited money wise so I'm having to buy things each week to try and get everything in time.

Trishstar · 16/01/2013 07:34

Much less movement from yesterday night, going to ring triage in a bit and see what they say. How do they check everything is ok at hospital? xx

SneezySnatcher · 16/01/2013 08:44

Hope all is well Trish. At my hospital they will just listen for the heartbeat before 28 weeks. After 28 they will put you on a trace machine, which straps to your bump and monitors you for about half an hour. It picks up heartbeat, movement and any contractions IIRC.

Trishstar · 16/01/2013 08:51

Thanks for replying sneezy. I am 27+1 and I have a good quality Doppler. HB was absolutely fine last night and this morning.

bunnygirl80 · 16/01/2013 09:44

fluffeh I wouldn't bother with baby bath stuff. They don't really need it when they're tiny. I bathed DS in plain water for about the first six weeks. If money's tight then it's really something you can do without.

miarosemum · 16/01/2013 10:10

I have requested to join fb group too Smile

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 16/01/2013 10:31

I have also requested to join!

Will try to be specific where I can - glad things are ok ratbag. Hope the hospitals reassure you trish.

Thinking of Mama and Floss.

I am in the exhausted camp. Work yesterday was really tough! Physically (got some heavy patients who need lots of attention) and mentally - had a newly qualified nurse and a student nurse so I was teaching virtually all day!). Enjoying a day off today and off into town I need bigger knickers, tell me I'm not the only one?! and off to see Quartet :)

Trishstar · 16/01/2013 10:33

Thanks HALFB.

Just en route to hospital now will update in a bit!

Hope little man is just being lazy x

edinfirst · 16/01/2013 10:50

FX for you Trish

JessieEssex · 16/01/2013 11:17

FX trish.

I'm also exhausted - about an hour after waking up I'm dying to go back to bed again. Not chance of that happening with a toddler in tow (and a non-napping one at that!)

DD wet the bed for the first time in ages last night so I was up with her at 2.15 and then the baby started doing somersaults when I went back to bed. Combined with a snoring DH....

Does anyone else have a really really itchy tummy? The skin is red and looks like its covered in tiny thread veins, particularly in the evening, but then seems fine by the morning. I'm not worried about it in a medical sense, but it's soooo uncomfortable. I don't remember this with DD. I am depleting the UK stocks of Bio Oil!

ps have requested to join FB group...

Trishstar · 16/01/2013 11:43

Thanks ladies! Just grabbing some food and heading back to work!

Took a little while to get HB but they found it and he kicked the Doppler away!! little bugger!!! had to be seen by midwife and 2 doctors but they said any more reduced movements even for few hours that I should just come in and they can scan to check everything is ok.

Teapig · 16/01/2013 12:41

Really pleased that everything seems ok trish. Hope baby was just having a lazy day and you don't have to go back.

The movements I feel are still very sparodic but as long as I feel them every day then I think it's ok. Every little bean is different and I guess mine is on the lazy side, must take after DH!

Teapig · 16/01/2013 12:42

Oooh 27 weeks today, hello to the third and final trimester!

steph2412 · 16/01/2013 13:41

Glad all is ok Trish i am getting a bit nervous for my scan on tuesday hoping pkacenta has moved up!on a happier note i am nearly finished baby shopping got 400 pampers nappies size 1 & 2 loads of wipes and all other essentials! were paying some more off the pram this week which will only leave £80 to pay!im starting on getting things for my hospital bag this week there really isnt that long left and with the 2dcs already at home i want to be as organised as possible! Hope Floss Is ok your in my thoughts x

itsaruddygame · 16/01/2013 14:37

Glad all OK ratbag and trish!

Great to hear from Mama in person and so fantastic that Alex is doing so well. It seems he was determined to join your family from the start Mama!

Good luck Floss - hope the little one is staying in for a bit longer.

I am also having a quiet day with movements although I think he has moved and that is why they are not so strong. I have an anterior placenta and sometimes he is positioned so that I feel him very strongly but other times not so much. I am getting weaker movements but deeper and towards the back. I will have a rest and snack when I get home and see if anything changes.

I was also told I had Leukacytes in my urine this week but have to wait for a few days for further results. Anyone else had this?

Other than that I have been really busy - ante natal pilates on Monday, Aquanatal last night and the last 2 saturdays we have been on a hypno birthing course (2 more weeks to go). My mind is racing a bit as time is ticking on and I dreamt that I had him but forgot to feed him and that I was carrying him around in a basket wrapped in tea towels as I had not had chance to buy anything - oh dear!! Grin

birdbrain17 · 16/01/2013 15:20

lutrinae I'm also in london so got a good network of buses and tubes but I find it's so expensive public transport, I guess if I was driving petrol is also a lot of money....

jessie I sympathise about the itchy tummy, I also have that, funny hadn't noticed but now that you mention it, it is worse in the evening...

Had a call from the midwife today with the results of my 28 week blood test, my iron levels are just about okay so she told me to eat more iron rich foods, but they want to do another test because my platelet levels are low. I did a bit of googling to find out what this means and I'm really scared it could be a sign of something quite serious, has anyone else ever been told this?!

Flosshilde · 16/01/2013 16:36

Hello everyone and thanks for all the kind thoughts - it's worked as baby has stayed put and I have been discharged for now so I have just got back home. The contractions have stopped and my cervix has reclosed, something I didn't think was possible but apparently it is. It is still very soft and they are not expecting me to make it anywhere near term and I am to go straight back in if my contractions restart.

At the moment my main source of discomfort is the bloody thrush I have got due to the antibiotics! They have given me cream and a pessary for that.

I am back at home and have decided to take my annual leave and then go on mat leave as I have been told to rest. It will be very tedious if baby hangs on in there till due date (extremely unlikely though) but has to be the right decision.

SneezySnatcher · 16/01/2013 16:47

birdbrain my platelets are low too. They were low end of normal (but still normal) at booking and have dropped (wasn't told new level).

It's fairly common in pregnancy and it won't cause a problem unless they get really low (50 I think) in which case you can't have an epidural and may need a section. It can just be that your platelets get bigger in pregnancy so there are less of them but still doing the same job IYSWIM?

I'm not concerned and neither was my consultant. I have restarted my pregnancare though as it can be a sign of vitamin D/ frolic acid deficiency.

Were your levels ok at booking?

SneezySnatcher · 16/01/2013 16:47

folic acid!!
