Locketjuice · 11/01/2013 12:45

Oh and 10+4

CarriePie · 11/01/2013 13:04

Boosiehs I know not quite Central but I had a 9 week scan at Babybond near Heathrow. They were very helpful and had lots of weekend appts which suited us.
I think it was £90. Worth every penny.

beckie90 · 11/01/2013 14:03

foof there not horrid they just never expected it, and I was planning on access to nursing this year so theyl prob be abit dissapointed that won't be happening now. Always after initial shock theyv been there dad used to take me to and from my midwife appointments with ds2 cause it was quite far from my home and mums seen them both been born and been there all way through Its just the first shock specially from my dad that puts me off. I can't really act excited cause at min it dusnt seem real and I'm absolutely petrified, due to complications when I had ds1 that I'm still at risk of, I was exact same with ds2 really terrified. So my mind is boggled lol sure Il find the courage soon, my mums got pneumonia so don't want to tell her yet anyway. After scan is my plan, fingers crossed x

LittleMissSnowShine · 11/01/2013 15:01

beckie - you're young, though, and in a way it kind of makes sense to have your kids before you have a career established because once you've gone to uni and started into work there never really seems to be a 'right' time. I'm 29 next month and I got unexpectedly pg with DS in final year of a PhD which was not excellent timing but everything has worked out absolutely fine and I'm sure it will for you too!

James - I had Maclaren Techno XLR with DS and thought it was great but alas my DS is very tall for his age and a chronic feet dragger so we had to swap him into one much higher up off the ground when he got to about 16 months. Other than that tho I thought it was great

beckie90 · 11/01/2013 15:32

I know that's a real plus to me littlemiss its only up until recently I've become a stay at home mum cause my partner works 12 hours a day 6 days a week, but I was unhappy in my career anyway I worked in retail, I've always wanted to be a midwife, so when this baby is born I will try get into that x

MrsPennyapple · 11/01/2013 19:11

Will be thinking of you tomorrow foof, hope you get to see a lovely bean and a good strong heartbeat.

Silver15 · 11/01/2013 19:28

Hello ladies,

Welcome Feet.

Mayan thanks for adding me onto the list.

I have my scan next week. Looking forward to it as I think I need to lnform my manager soon. I had to get out of a meeting today to go and vom. I had to do it silently as our toilets are not very privately located. It was tough and i think it was obvious I had been there long. Felt a bit embarrassed coming out.

Sorry for the self indulgent post.

Silver15 · 11/01/2013 19:29

Foof thinking of you.

LittleMissSnowShine · 11/01/2013 19:34

Good luck tomorrow foof!

silver - feel your pain cos i am v bokey so i'm signed off work & i had to come clean to my manager - i work in a small organisation tho and we hav quite a big deadline next week so i said it was ok for my boss to pay me a housecall in monday (she said i can stay in my pjs) bevause she wants to talk over some details of the bid with me. Should ve flattered that im needed but now im seriously worried about throwing up all over her!!!

beckie90 · 11/01/2013 21:06

Good luck tomorow foof xx

ScubaSarah · 11/01/2013 21:26

Good luck tomorrow foof I'm sure all will be perfect Smile
Will be eagerly awaiting an update ...

In other news my rumour-mill organisation have put together my lack of pre-Xmas drinking, ill /crack-whore looking return and 3 cup size increased norms (now GG) and have deduced I'm up the duff. 1st tri scan on tues so only one more day to struggle through lying my face off Shock

FoofFighter · 11/01/2013 21:47

Thanks all, will not be able to update till I get home in the evening so don't panic! It's a loooonggggg way away, over 100miles round trip!

SS I too have been rumbled by a friend on facebook although I have not told them they are right yet, I'll tell when I am ready despite you asking me outright! that annoyed me I have to say.

feetlkeblocksofice · 11/01/2013 22:15

Keeping thing quiet this end until my next scan in 2 weeks. Back to work after 2+ weeks off (trips to epu) my hcg dropped and rose very slowly they're now thinking it was vanishing twin.

My immediate boss and supervisor know (because of the sick note) but they are sworn to secrecy and I do trust them. They'll have risk assessments in place for me when I get back.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 12/01/2013 00:20

Thanks for all the info on the maclarens folks! Is it worth getting the xlr for the carrycot?

9 weeks today, I'm excited because (all being well) I'm hoping I'll start to feel movement at about 11 weeks like I did with my last pregnancy Smile just like tiny tiny popping/tapping sensation very low down in constant but random patterns when I was lying down. (Definitely not my pulse!)

the consultant told me it was "impossible" for me to feel anything so early (probably because I'm overweight) but as he didn't even have a uterus I discounted his opinion Hmm and the taps just got stronger til they were pokes and thuds and swooshes (and eventually they try to lever your ribs off with their feet whilst head butting your cervix, which is nice...) lol

Anyone else ravenous? I am, between sickiness anyway. I'm in bed but I'm going to have to get up and get something to eat, my stomach is growling at me but I don't fancy anything! Hmm Night Grin

Chuckaluck · 12/01/2013 06:21

Hope all goes ok Foof.

I was wide awake at stupid o clock this morning abs gave finally given in to not sleeping and caught up with the last few days. Have had a stressful couple of days with family problems on DH side and then travelling and long days for work. Feel shattered but can't sleep. Have to go into the office today also Angry I have been having some funny sensations in my uterus like it being knots almost and am a bit worried as I thought I saw the tiniest drop of blood when I wiped this morning (sorry TMI). It was so small I can't be sure but will keep an eye on it. Don't think I need to ring the midwife yet. Anyone else had this after something stressful?

Chuckaluck · 12/01/2013 06:37

Sorry should have said am 11 weeks today

OxfordToLondoner · 12/01/2013 06:51

Thanks for all advice about my work situation. Mrs Uber Boss now knows the situation, and a younger more energetic colleague is working on it with me. I feel much more relaxed about it - phew!

LittleMissSnowShine · 12/01/2013 08:58

James - I got XLR for extending handles and a couple of other features but didn't bother with the carrycot cos it does recline the whole way anyway and I didn't have a car when DS was just born so I didn't feel like I would have gotten a lot of use out of it. I know other mums who had the cot tho and they thought it was handy, so maybe it would be a good buy if you can find a good offer online?

Like james i've also been feeling...something...down below. Too early to really be kicks or pokes but it's more like a kind of bubbling or rolling sensation, it's weird because i only noticed DS being in there towards 20 weeks and only 10 weeks today but there's def ... something going on!

beckie90 · 12/01/2013 09:24

james I also felt that with ds2 at around 11.5 weeks I was convinced I was abit further on but I was only 2 more days further. Ds1 was around 17weeks.

Keep an eye on it chuckaluck it should be fine. But if your concerned give your midwife a call xx

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 12/01/2013 10:53

Hi all, I am recovering from a really bad headache yesterday. It started out as a migraine type behind one eye and some nausea and because I am seemingly unable to say the words 'I am sick and will have to go home' I stayed at work and developed tension pains in my neck. Has anybody asked a Midfwife, Dr or Pharmacist about paracetamol in the first trimester? I thought it was ok, but went without after reading you should avoid all meds if possible. I was too scared to take it but could have really done with something.

I had my booking in on Monday! I took my bloods with me and packaged them up to send to another lab than the one I work in. I can be very sneaky when I need to be. My scan is boomed for the 30th January, I should be bang on 12 weeks by my estimate, but I had 4 days of spotting before my last period when I normally have one or two.

I am veering between anxiety and excitement. I am not convinced everything is ok, my boyfriend has asked me to stop talking about anything bad happening but the thoughts won't stop whirring around my head. It is normal to panic isn't it? I don't feel pregnant, I don't think I will until I see a baby on the screen. I feel like I am building all our hopes around this, ad something might have gone wrong and I wouldn't even know.

Hanikam · 12/01/2013 11:33

Have to drop out of this post Sad
I'm miscarry ing. Started bleeding on Thursday, on and off, then had cramps and clotting. Called midwife who was lovely and advised me to to A and E.

We stayed at the hospital and I eventually got examined by the gynae doctor at 2am. Internal (horrible, lots of pulling)

Need to back tonight to check if HcG levels are falling, and it has to bexactly 48hrs after first blood test, so 10pm.
Feeling drained and emotional. Thank God I hadn't told many people.
Good luck to rest of you.

MrsPennyapple · 12/01/2013 11:35

James Yes, I'm hungry all the time. I had a peanut butter sandwich at 11.30 last night and STILL woke up ravenous at 6.30.

Trenchcoat I haven't had official confirmation but I was under the impression that paracetamol was the one thing you COULD take when pg. I took one last week when I had a headache that wouldn't shift. Maybe ring NHS direct and ask them. It sounds like you're in some discomfort though. Would a bath help?

I got my scan date, 28th Jan. I'll be 12+1. (Currently 9+6.)

WeeWeeWeeAllTheWayHome · 12/01/2013 11:42

Hanikam I'm so sorry to hear that, hope you feel better soon Thanks.
