Thanks Beckie, I shall go home and read my notes and see if it mentions anything in there!

ScubaSarah · 30/01/2013 15:56

Firstly, hope all the scans today have gone well - looking forward to hearing the news / seeing the pics.

Nub Theory is about looking at the angle of the dangle at 12-14 weeks - parallel to back is suggestive of girl, 30degree angle upward is suggestive of boy. Website here gives a great explanation

Beckie - thanks for confirmation, I think you're right but I wonder if it was too early - studies suggest you get more false female results early on and then by 14 weeks the angle of the dangle is more pronounced? I can't tell from your scan what I'd think, sorry!

Waves I'd guess at girl but the scan pic is small on Mumsnet so it's hard to tell to be sure. Does anyone know how to make MN pics bigger? Hope you're doing ok today btw - I'm keeping up with the other thread and sending you lots of supportive thoughts.

Ruck great that you've got some time - look after yourself!

Blonde be careful with the Doppler - it's easy to hear Placenta rather than baby so don't replace MW trips with it if you're still having bleeds x

JollyRedGiant · 30/01/2013 16:23

I have a scan date! And a consultant appointment, which is a surprise. Scan on 8th.

Mayanbob · 30/01/2013 17:37

Nightwish · 30/01/2013 17:39

Just had my letter through for bloods and everything results.
All fine, low risk, 1:29814 risk for Downs. Mental.

Hope all the new scans are as good!

Mayanbob · 30/01/2013 17:39

Bloody phone.... Also bloods are fine. I'm not Rhesus neg, iron ok, no urine infection. Hurrah!

Hope all the scans went well today ladies

wavesandsmiles · 30/01/2013 18:03

Hello again, just a quick message as I'm in hospital. Blacked out at the gps and was brought by ambulance to hospital. Very dehydrated and very low blood sugars, now on my second drip. Have had two intravenous anti emetics and actually don't feel sick right now. Wasn't too fun, especially getting the blood out and canula (sp?) in as wa so dehydrated my veins were all hiding.

14+1 and this is meant to not be happening anymore ...

LittleMissSnowShine · 30/01/2013 18:05

Hi all

ruck - great ur getting time off. I took 3 weeks and im on reduced hours this week. I've never needed time off on sick before so im not letting myself feel guilty, most important thing is your health&babys

blonde - i hav resisted urge to dig out my doppler so far! I dont think mine worked all that well til 14 weeks and beyond so dont be too stressed if its hard to hear much at this stage. Bleeding has mostly stopped for me but do still get occssional spotting and no one has been able to tell me why either Hmm

waves - did u make it to drs puke free?

DS has had a nasty bug and had me and DH up during the night the last two nights and its put my body clock / nauseaed schedule all over the place so been pretty sick last day or two. Better get a full night's sleep tonight!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 30/01/2013 18:09

Oh waves, cross posted!! You poor thing!! I'd be flat on my back without anti nausea drugs so cant imagine how you've made it thru to 14 weeks without being hospitalised. Hope they look after u & u feel better soon xx

Abilee90 · 30/01/2013 18:22

Evening everyone

Scan went very well but had a very stubborn baby! Was told i had a too full bladder :/ really?!? Lol. So ended up having an internal scan. Baby is face on so no nub theroy for me buy my lovely dh has booked a private scan in feb! So cant wait :)

Baby is bigger than my dd so hoping its a boy lol. Dh is telling his mum now and i'm a wreck lol.

Adopted mum was over the moon to see the newest pics of bean :)

Lady that did my scan was really shocked with how baby was being. Dh had heart attack as baby wasnt moving at first and he went as white as a ghost.

Nt was 1.9 same as dd so hopefully low risk again.

Hope all are well and everyone elses scans went well. Ooo also i got put forward 3 days so new due date is 6/08/13 :)

Xxx

Silver15 · 30/01/2013 18:39

Hello all

Congs to those who had good scans.

Waves hope you get well soon.

Nothing much to update here.

beckie90 · 30/01/2013 19:04

waves how awful hope you her better soon Thanks

abi thats great, congratulations :) I'm thinking of booking a private scan for end of Feb but not sure what to do, think I will end up booking though, I'm too impatient to wait.

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 30/01/2013 19:06

Oh waves I hope you feel a bit better. You poor thing.

My scan was great! I cried on the way to work this morning, and had to rush from the waiting room to be sick. But everything good and as it should be. How scary is the start of the scan? The sonographer said she would get her bearings then start to explain things. I couldn't see a thing as she looked at each side of the womb, seeing my baby for the first time was the strangest, most wonderful feeling!

The baby has a nice strong heartbeat, but was asleep or very lazy. I had to turn on my side and wiggle my bum, then lift my bum off the table and slam it down so the sonographer could get the measurement. Then the baby was throwing their legs around! NT is 1.8mm at the thickest point, spine and brain developing well, nice strong heart beat.

EDD is now the 12th August, I had 4 days of spotting before my last period which I didn't count, though I felt sure I ovulated on 23rd November because of my temps.

Sorry for gushing but I have never been as happy in my life!

Locketjuice · 30/01/2013 19:18

Scan went well today, EDD 12th August :) baby was very lazy and laid cross legged for the whole 15 mins we was in there, glad everyone else is well, apart from lady in hospital sorry to hear Hmm

beckie90 · 30/01/2013 19:52

Congrats on all the scans ladies :) xx

Yvonney · 30/01/2013 20:10

Waves - get well soon, you're in the best place, take care x Thanks

Great to hear abt all the scans. I have 2 more weeks to wait x

10+2

Stopsittingonyoursister · 30/01/2013 20:45

Congrats on all the positive scans ladies!! Lovely to hear good news xx

waves your body is telling you that you need to rest and put yourself first just for a little while. I hope you are getting lots of rest, and work are supportive. I also hope you have the childcare for your DC sorted so you aren't worrying about that as well. Thanks

MrsPennyapple · 30/01/2013 21:25

Waves Hope you start to feel lots better soon.

Trenchcoat It's great that you're so happy, seeing your baby is lovely isn't it?

I hadn't heard of nub theory before. I just checked my scan pics and no nub visible. That's fine with me, we wanted to keep it a surprise anyway :)

I have a fairly large bruise from where blood was taken on Monday, even though the nurse was very good and gentle. What's completely beyond me is why I didn't look at the NT measurement which the sonographer wrote on the forms! She said it was within the normal range, and said that if it looked high she would have said so, but now I'm replaying it in my head, thinking "did she hesitate before she said it was in the normal range?" Well, I've had no phone call yet, they said if it came back high risk I'd get a phone call within about 5 days, and if it was low risk I'd get a letter in about two weeks. Fingers crossed eh?

I am wearing maternity jeans today - purely because I have been rained on so much this week that ALL of my trousers got soaked through. But, amazingly, I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST TODAY!!!!! So my days of tramping backwards and forwards to the supermarket in the rain are GONE! WOO HOO!!!!

Yvonney · 30/01/2013 21:29

Congratulations Mrspennyapple! I just passed my driving test in April last year. It's fab being able to 'pop' places and not worry abt buses and rain Smile x

Mayanbob · 30/01/2013 21:43

waves Take care of yourself and get well soon. Thanks

Congratulations pennyapple I am in total awe of you. I still can't drive. I need to sort this out. I'm pregnant. I'm going to have to move a baby around ffs.

locket trenchcoat and abi Congrats on your scans. Hopefully i'll be joining your happy ranks in a week and a bit.

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 30/01/2013 21:52

Oh wow MrsPennyapple congrats! I can't drive and am too scared to learn at the moment, I wish I had listened to my parents and friends who have been nagging me to learn for years. It's too late for now, I would be a slow learner!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 30/01/2013 21:54

Congrats on all the scans today locket, trench (awww that you're so happy!), abi.

Congratulations on the test passing MrsPennyapple, I was looking at doing my CBT once spring was here but I won't risk it in my 'condition'.

Mayan, our scans are at the same time next week, feels weird being surrounded by all these ladies having theirs already & just twiddling thumbs waiting.

Ruck, hurrah for your GP signing you off, hope you rest up well.

Blonde, best time I've found to use the doppler this early is after food in the evening (when I'm most bloated), right now finding the hb just at the top of the pubic bone.

Sugary Brew for waves, you're amazing & I hope this overnight stay helps you feel refreshed/better and you manage some sleep.

Nothing to report here, aside from OMG Ketchup is amazing. I've never liked it before (why put cold sauce on hot stuff?!) but I've eaten an entire Heinz bottle this week with chips Blush

12+4

MrsPennyapple · 30/01/2013 22:35

Thanks everyone :)

GaryBusey Although I can take or leave ketchup, I LOVE contrast in food. Crunchy Ryvita with creamy soft cheese and spicy hot chilli flakes - yum. Likewise, hot apple crumble with cold ice cream. I try to keepthe hot & cold separate on the plate so that I can choose the moment of blending, and therefore preserve the contrast - I wouldn't want it to all mush together! I should probably stop there, I'm starting to sound a bit odd...

Abilee90 · 30/01/2013 23:13

Thanks everyone :)

Good to all of you with scans this week :)

Getting annoyed with sickness now, gagging at stupid things and then having run to the bathroom. Not easy with dd. dh told mil today and she took it ok :/ anyway just my mum left but feeling overwhelmed with it all at min. Plus mum lives in spain half the year and not back til march. Crapping myself about telling her.

Sorry abour rambling. Feeling really up in the air tonight, prob coz i'm tired.

Locket and trench the 12th is dh birthday and mine is 11th lol.
Glad my due date is 6th now but dd was 16 days late in the end. 37.5 hour labour added 2 days. Still freaking about labour having nightmares about it :( dont know what to do :(

Again sorry for rambling
Xxx

beckie90 · 31/01/2013 00:21

abi I've not told my mum yet and I'm so scared to tell her. OH mum knows though she's more understanding cause she had her first 3 young too. 16 days over WOW ds1 was 12 days over induced and only 4.5hr labour. Ds2 I went into labour on my due date but didn't have him till 40+5 he was back to back and really stubborn and then got stuck cause of his position plus his 9ib weight which was big for me cause im only teeny. Really don't want it so long again this time hope its a lot faster. I think its pretty normal to worry after a traumatic expirience I cried when labour started with ds2 cause i was so scared, although ds1 labour was good, I had a real bad time after it and ended up in high dependancy unit hooked upto everything for 4 days, I thought it scared me off having more lol. I worried all way through been pregnant with ds2, but same thing didn't happen, it was just long. They were different in everyway, so don't worry yours will be too and you will be fine, but if it really gets to you maybe talk to your midwife? She may beable to help xxx
