trenchcoat - aww that's amazing, congrats! I couldn't even look at screen until mw was able to say oh yes, look, there's the baby waving at us! So scary but so amazing at the same time Grin

locket - congrats to you too!

mrspenny - yay, well done on the driving test!!

abi - had same kind of thing with my DS, went into labour on his due date and he wasn't born til 53 hours later. Also back to back and he was 8lb8oz so pretty big too. Not fun. Hoping for a nice 4 hour , well positioned, no episiotomy this time!!

gary - ha ha ketchup, that's a funny one! i'm still too queasy to eat anything very exciting, lots of toast, sometimes beans, the occasional piece of fruit. But i'm starting to have dreams about food and sex (not at the same time lol) cos those are two things i have really gone off in real life. I'm dreaming about an amazing scampi and chips dinner or a battered chicken and noodles with satay sauce. In real life i'm not quite 'there' in terms of being able to eat any of that, tho hopefully will be soon! The rude dreams tho are starting to make DH quite Angry hee hee needless to say they are not always about him! but i can't be held responsible for whatever my hormones cook up now, can i? Wink

mayan - i can drive but me and DH shared a car until DS was about 18 months which in practice meant DH had car most of the time cos he really needed it for work. Big pro of no car means walking everywhere with buggy and it really does keep you fit - no need to pay for the gym!!!

Abilee90 · 31/01/2013 09:01

Beckie and snow, i wouldnt mind if she was big but she was only 7lb 8oz. Labour was horrendous, from start to finish. I ended up crying last night as i'm so worried. My dh wants me to go for a c-section as i have a heart condition. My blood presssure went to the extremes when i had dd. heart rate was almost the same as dd. i had to have my contractions forced (induced) and i had a trainee midwife who put the drip on and didnt adjust the drip and it made my contractions so strong that i was having them every 16secs lasting 1 min 45 secs. That was my first contractions they got closer and longer. I had an epidural and was placed wrong so didnt work. The docs didnt bother checking it. It was hitting nerves in my back and it made me shake vioently. I was strapped to a bed with loads of contraptions on me including blood pressure cup that was going off every 30 secs as heart was going mad. The cups hurt at the best of times. Let alone when ur tense and in so much pain. The best bit was pushing but then i got a 3rd degree tear. :( horrible labour. So freaking out a hell of a lot. Also now have a prolapse down there now as tear ripped open again 7 days after labour.

Sorry for scary story just needed to get off my chest and let it out as i really am freaking out :( xxx

For those stressing about the birth - I've been recommended Ina Mays guide to Childbirth as it has lots of lovely birth stories and then some info about how to approach the birth without fear and let nature take over. It's slightly hippy-commune in places but I'm enjoying it so far...

LexiLoganberryBump · 31/01/2013 09:38

justwore Congratulations on your scan, loved reading how excited you were. I can't wait for mine.

waves Sorry your not well, at least your being looked after Thanks

mrspenny Congratulations on passing your driving test Smile Your food blending made me Grin

I never wanted to learn to drive but my dh who was then my bf nagged me about it and I'm so glad I learnt.

Has anyones skin changed at all? I've always had rosey cheeks but now almost my whole face is red and blotchy and it's getting hard to cover it up and the skin on my lower legs had become a bit leathery in texture, but is much better now.

I had a dream that I had the baby and it was a boy who weighed 7lb 10oz (it's all in the detail) and we were frantically shopping for babygrow and sleep suits cause we didn't have any and couldn't find any in the shops.

Isisizzie · 31/01/2013 09:50

Lexi I've gone red to and really spotty now. I feel and look like crap most days.

My dreams are still the same that I'm having triplets. Which I know is not true there was only one on the scan. But it's the only baby dream I have.

beckie90 · 31/01/2013 11:01

abi i would speak to your midwife they sometimes can refer you to someone to speak to. Im not thinking of it yet cause I do get scared so I just put it to back of my mind. My heart rate was at 232bpm after id had ds when I was in hdu due to post partum heomorhage which put strain on my heart. ds1 was 6ib 8 ds2 9ib. But I'd still rather have ds2 labour than ds1 even though it was much longer. I still have increased risk of that happening again because once it happens it increases the chances, so thats why I put it to back of my mind cause I think I'm going to die which sounds so stupid, but that what I thought was going to happen when I had ds1. But please do speak to your midwife sure there is something they can do, and in the normal case I'm pretty sure you will have a completely different labour this time round and it be a lot better than last time. I did a lot of research on the net when preg with ds2 and also lovely mums of mumsnet shared there second expiriences with me after suffering from similar the first time and they was all posative, maybe post what happend in the childbirth section and ask for similar subsequent expiriences, it might put your mind at ease abit, it did me with ds2. Our bodys are much more prepared the second time. And have you spoke to the midwife regarding the heart condition and section? About what they think is safest for you? Xx

Today u have booked a scan for the 23rd, you can find out the sex but I'm not too sure if I want to yet, in 2 minds. I'm so impatient but at the same time I want to know what it feels like to have a Suprise birth, found out with both my ds's. It was only 50 pound so quite happy with that :)

Xx

blondecat · 31/01/2013 11:06

Waves

Keep well. Hospital is not fun but perhaps it will not only put you on your feet now but put a halt to the whole sickness thing. Sometimes you can get a nasty feedback loop - being sick making you more sick. Fingers crossed

Driving test! Wow. That's impressive. Congratulations. I don't think I could even try it and it will come in useful

Just went for the first walk since Sunday after 2 1/2 days in bed. Felt dizzy. It's incredible how weak I got and how quickly. Will go again when head stops spinning. Otherwise I will mummify by the time Froggy arrives

beckie90 · 31/01/2013 11:07

Oh and the skin mines gone terrible just said same to my friend. My face is spotty blotchy n itchy. Never had that before xx

blondecat · 31/01/2013 11:08

Lexi

I got spots. Hormonal ones and cold sores. I think it's the bleeding / spotting stress.
Oh and lovely brownish / darker skin patches on my body. Not sure what they are called but I feel just great about them 'sarcasm'

LittleMissSnowShine · 31/01/2013 11:55

Scuba - I loved a bit of Ina May when I was pg before! The only thing I didn't like was her suggestion that hyperemesis is basically all in your head and if you just have a better attitude you'll stop being sick. Not the most helpful thing to read when you're throwing up 20 times a day! But I did think it was a lovely book to read and her breastfeeding book is good too :)

Abi - I know, it's v stressful going through it all again when you've had a bad delivery. It's definitely one reason why I didn't think about ttc again until DS was 18 months. I'm just trying to keep an open mind at this stage and be as relaxed as possible. I think it helps that midwives tend to take you more seriously when you've been through it before and you tell them what things you would like to go differently. They've already referred me to physio cos DS's delivery gave me lots of trouble with my back/hips/pelvic floor after he was born and they want to make sure pregnancy doesn't make all those problems flare up again, so it's good to talk to mws and hopefully they will be proactive about helping you find ways to address how stressed you're feeling. Counselling or something might help - I've been considering asking for a referral..

blonde - I know, I can hardly walk the length of myself at the minute! Took DS last weekend and there was quite a lot of walking involved and I ended up taking to my bed for the rest of the day when we got back!! Going to start pg yoga at 14 weeks though and hopefully that will stop me mummifying!

lexi - With DS my face was fine but I had horrible blotchy, sore skin on my shoulders and my back all during 2nd tri. Noticed a few splodges on shoulders this week so I think that's about to come back again. I also ended up getting these weird inflamed patches of dry skin under both eyes that were very reddy coloured and looked like claw marks, like someone had tried to scratch my eyes out. No sign of that yet but will be keeping a watch out for those! Pg does some very weird things to your skin!!!

LexiLoganberryBump · 31/01/2013 12:09

Sorry that several of you are having skin problems too but it has made feel better that it's not just me.

Have only eaten a banana before school and just had a orange, I don't want to eat because I feel sick but tend to feel better once I've eaten but it's hard to tell your brain to eat something when it's the last thing you want to do.

LittleMissSnowShine · 31/01/2013 12:32

kexi - completely agree with that, I feel so horrid in the morning I have a hard time forcing myself to sit up, drink some water and swallow a tablet but the longer I put off doing it the higher the likelihood that the nausea will go from just being a sick feeling to actually being sick. Why are our brains wired to tell us we don't want to do the thing that would actually make us feel a bit better???!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 31/01/2013 12:33

Sorry lexi not kexi"

ruthietoothie · 31/01/2013 14:12

Hi everyone, sorry I've been very quiet of late. Work been manic and been trying to get my head down and get some serious work under my belt!

Just to let you all know had my scan today and all looking good. A very wriggly baby saying hello! Had my dates changed quite a week, and my dd now 1/08/13 - eek!

Congrats to everyone else whose had scans recently, and sorry to those who have had bad news particularly Carrie. Hope tomorrow goes as well as it can, and that you have lots of family and friends around supporting you.

thekatsatonthematt · 31/01/2013 18:04

Ruthie how funny, also had my scan today, ridiculously wriggly baby and she put me at 14 weeks exactly ith due date of 1st August.

Off to add myself to the stats thread....

blondecat · 31/01/2013 18:58

Congratulations on your scans

Carrie, I am thinking of you. "Hugs"

beckie90 · 31/01/2013 19:21

Also thinking of you tomorow carrie Thanks xxx

LittleMissSnowShine · 31/01/2013 19:24

COngrats on two more healthy scans :)

Thinking of you tomorrow as well carrie

Mayanbob · 31/01/2013 21:00

Great to hear all the scan news. Get well soon waves make sure you get your rest.

littlemisssnowshine thanks for the positive spin on driving. I'll remember that.

Me... up until about 3pm i'm good. After that... look like a drug addict, and more tired than everything. Then the bloat and the spots. So off to bed for me.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow carrie Thanks

ruthietoothie · 31/01/2013 21:06

thekatt that is funny that we both had our scans on same day, only to get exactly same due date. I had a bit of a fright as sonographer initially thought i was 14+4 and so she thought I wouldn't be able to have the nuchal screening. Luckily final measurements meant I could have it - just!

Feels good to know its definitely in then and wiggling away

FoofFighter · 31/01/2013 21:11

Home Sweet Home! had a fab time away seeing family and at the wedding (yes i cried like a baby, blooming hormones!!) but oh so glad to be home too

And finally able to participate properly, it's horrible using the MN app, you can't see anyone's profiles (so need to know who has a scan pic up now for me to look at!) and couldn't put up my private one from Sunday (will do tomorrow, need to unpack yet)

Carrie, if you are still around, I will be thinking of you all tomorrow and we are all holding your hand xx

LittleMissSnowShine · 31/01/2013 21:36

Can i just throw a random question out to thread - is everyone having nuchal testing done? I declined quadruple test this time and also with DS, didnt really think about having it done but its sounding like im in the minority so just wondering if there's others?

FoofFighter · 31/01/2013 21:41

I'm not. I am almost 40 so my results are going to be high anyway, and Downs isn't something we would terminate for anyway, so no point.

RuckAndRoll · 31/01/2013 22:01

no nuchal for us either. I'm a panicker so would drive me mad and downs isn't something we would terminate for.
12+0

LittleMissSnowShine · 31/01/2013 22:03

Thats what i thought - im 28 so results will prob be low but if they did end up being high i.wouldnt want amniocentisis to confirm cos of mc risk, i dont think.harmony is avail near here and even if it was i couldnt afford it right now and ultimately i wouldnt terminate either so felt like having bloodwork done was just opening the door to.more stress... But then i was starting to wonder if i was the only person thinking that Confused
