Yikes stupid prune!

My nose is so stuffed up - seriously need the nasal spray squirted up there! Sigh lol x

Rache1S · 25/02/2013 22:23

Fairy are you that mythical golden goose, envied by all TTCers? Did you get pregnant on your first attempt? Smile

Purplemonster · 25/02/2013 23:25

Welcome Fairy! so pleased to see a new face around here and hipe we can help you through the scary first weeks!

I switched to decaf, I like twinings everyday decaf, I find if I had a normal cup after a couple of weeks on the decaf it made me feel like I was having heart palpitations even though I'd been a caffeine addict before!

That sucks about your tooth Hazle but it's amazing what they can do, my mum's dog took two big chips out of both my front teeth one Christmas jumping up just as I was taking a swig out of a glass beer bottle, seemed like a major disaster at the time but they did a great job of filling it in and you can't really tell any more.

Purplemonster · 25/02/2013 23:27

And ahem, that would have been me Rach, it got me a bit of a hard time on the conception boards Wink guess you never know how fertile or not you are until you try.

HazleNutt · 26/02/2013 06:51

I haven't given up coffee, just cut down. But still have a cup or two per day, that's within the limits.

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 07:04

We did try last month but I was only off the pill so had to keep reminding myself not to be disappointed too quickly! Just hope everything is ok.

Got a Gp appt for next week as I have an under active thyroid so will need bloods done. Called into work and asked for a day off to try and shift this rotten cold as its awful!

HazleNutt · 26/02/2013 08:34

Fairy, are you on levothyrox? It's recommended to increase the dosage as soon as you find out you're pregnant. See here:
www.endocrine-abstracts.org/ea/0019/ea0019p358.htm
and
thyroid.about.com/od/hormonepregnantmenopause1/a/dosechange.htm

Also, how good is your GP as thyroid is concerned, could you see an endocrinologist? I've read many stories here where GPs claim that TSH around 5 is fine - but for pregnant women, it should be kept under 2. And also ask for your T4 to be tested as well, not just TSH.

Rache1S · 26/02/2013 09:48

Really Purple, I never realised that?! Congratulations to you and your DP for being so annoyingly fertile! Grin

It's completely natural to worry Fairy. I am 23 weeks tomorrow and mine hasn't stopped yet. Smile Just keep thinking how the odds are stacked in your favour. Smile

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 10:07

I'm already on quite a high dose of 175mcg and that was just reduced from 200mcg as it sent me hypo! Always gets the 2 results but I'm going to ask for an endo referral anyway

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 10:11

Put a call in for the Gp to ring me this morning. May as well be sure!

BraveLilBear · 26/02/2013 10:29

Welcome Fairy

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 10:34

Hi there! Waves to bravelilbear

Any and all advice is welcome! O sounds uncomfortable for you

BraveLilBear · 26/02/2013 10:48

Lol I'll survive, but thanks Smile beginning to think it might actually be trapped wind Blush

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 10:49

A giant fart and you'll be grand lol

Rache1S · 26/02/2013 11:15

Brave you may have just stolen Purple's 'most fertile' crown. You must be scared to even sit next to your OH without contraception!

My ligaments are also absolutely killing me. Sad

HazleNutt · 26/02/2013 11:24

And you might not even get MS, I didn't. A few days when I felt like I had a slight hangover, but that's it. Ligaments fine too.

Tooth also fine, although the dentist mentioned that we might need to do a root canal later - yikes!

Fairy, 200 was indeed a high dose - I don't even have a thyroid any more and was just on 125 pre-pregnancy and 150 now with THS of 0,3.

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 11:28

I've had this since I was 11 so I'm a bit odd lol. I know exactly when I'm too high or low and I just self refer for bloods each time! Gp is pretty good but I still think I'd like seen at the hospital. Bloods to be taken on Thursday so will know fairly quickly what my dose should be.

I've 3 medical appointments in the space of a week now - fun to explain to my manager in work!

Rache1S · 26/02/2013 11:44

I have found both of these quite interesting today...

C Section Allergies

Omega 3

Rache1S · 26/02/2013 11:48

Bugger!

this should be the Omega 3 link

BraveLilBear · 26/02/2013 11:48

Boo at sore ligaments Rache and to threat of root canal Hazle Shock

And yes, after this, I will be very scared to even catch his eye - especially as we'll need to wait best part of 3 and a half years to try for number two - and I really don't want to go back on the pill. Felt so much better when I came off it. Time to buy shares in Durex again methinks...

Good luck with that Fairy although it's against the law to be disciplined for needing pregnancy-related medical appts...

Fairydogmother · 26/02/2013 11:58

Really interesting rache. I have numerous allergies so I'd like to try and not pass those on!

I may end up having to tell my manager tho she's not the nicest person Confused

janey1234 · 26/02/2013 12:14

Ooh, am very glad that I have been taking 300 damn it, not 600 mg of omega 3 DHA per day. However the allergies/c-section thing worries me slightly. Having said that it doesn't worry me as much as forcep delivery dates/stillborn rates for those over 35 giving birth, so will continue to investigate both options. I got referred to a consultant midwife yesterday, and in a month will see them about an elcs. Basically, I need to get to see the proper consultant to get the official figures and make an informed choice, but at least this is a step in the right direction...

Purplemonster · 26/02/2013 12:24

Oooh I don't know Rach, I think Bear might have a fight on her hands to take that crown, I came off the pill and immediately got pregnant without even having a period, by my reckoning I got pregnant less than a week after taking my last pill (HOW? HOW did I manage that?). I'm not smug about it I promise, it was the shock of my life! Blush but it made a few of the TTCers wave pitchforks at me and threaten to burn me as a witch. Did I mention that I promise I'm not smug about it?...they still all hate me though don't they Sad please don't tell me that me and Bear have got to go sit in the naughty corner Grin

I've had a root canal too Hazle (I've got really crappy teeth!) and it's not nearly as bad as everyone goes on about, it honestly wasn't a big deal just a pita as you have to keep going back a few times for more treatment so they can make sure they got it all before they put a permanent filling back in it but not painful at all.

Oh and Fairy, I actually found the first few weeks the hardest mentally if not physically so cut yourself some slack if you feel a bit worried and overwhelmed, I almost felt better when the nausea kicked in as it made me feel like everything was alright!

Purplemonster · 26/02/2013 12:27

Hang on a minute because everyone keeps mentioning vitamins and I feel like I'm out of the loop and don't know what I'm doing. I'm taking vitamin D as advised by my midwife and previously was taking folic acid obviously but I've not had anything else. Should I be taking some? I can't take any of the pregnancy ones as they all have iron in so they make me vomit. Am I doing it all wrong again?

janey1234 · 26/02/2013 12:34

I was advised folic acid and vitamin D (I think folic acid can't be absorbed properly with it) but take a pregnacare one that involves two tablets a day, the other is omega 3. I only started taking that relatively recently, simply because DP hates fish so we rarely eat it at home so thought I ought to take some.

I wouldn't worry purple - a balanced diet is the best option!
